Hi,
Yesterday I tried flashing my One X for the first time, but now it seems to be stuck at the the One X screen when I try booting it.
Tried pretty much everything and now my back-up seems to be wiped as well..
When getting the version with the fastboot tool I get: 3.14.161.28, it is a Dutch Vodafone branded phone.
Is there anyway to get it alive again?
Would love your input!
Thanks in advance

:good: I actually just fixed it by flashing an Nandroid recovery from some other phone (found on the interwebs) I can't update to the latest one X version however, keeps going into the clockwork recovery.
There is no 1.39 hboot for the onexl...? Do you have an international HTC One X Endeavor? wrong forum if so.

Well I got up today proud of myself for having made the decision to go ahead and root my AT&T HOX.
I have a 32 gig 10 inch Toshiba Thrive that is rooted running ICS. Then I discover there are several HOX models....and several firmwares. With sweaty palms I swiped one finger down and shaking almost too much to hit ABOUT scrolled on to the bitter truth of 2.20.502.7...
This phone cannot be rooted.
Now I must try to gather myself and use the technique I am lacking the most in.... Patience.
So Fredfly, I'm sure someone here can tell you better than I but as far as I can judge if your bro's firmware is like or higher than mine just take a number and have a seat.

I'm in the same boat Jonathan... just got mine this week and it's 2.2. Does anyone know if there is anyone working on rooting 2.2?

What version of the HOX do you have? The AT&T version? If the firmware is below 2.20, then you have a plethora of methods you can use if you simply look in the dev section. If you're so inclined, you can use the guide that I wrote for the Telus version in my signature. The attached software should work for the AT&T as well as the Telus and Rogers versions as well.
If you got your one X from Rogers then you're fine. First go to htcdev.com to unlock the bootloader. Then flash TWRP recovery (evita version) . Then put the zip file for a custom rom into the sdcard, boot into TWRP recovery, and install it. Then do a factory reset from TWRP and reboot. As a first rom to try, I recommend CleanROM or VIPER XL.
Hey guys thanks for the advice. I looked at HTC dev and its exactly the same as the one s. I checked my brother's firmware this weekend and its 1.8... I will attempt to root and unlock this weekend. Also thanks for the Rom recommendations. I will probably put viper on his phone as I am familiar with the venom team and know they do great work.

Its not firmware 2.20 and above. Its only firmware 2.20 that is unrootable (at this time). Its all about AT&T. Every other carrier is allowing the bootloader to be unlocked via HTCDev.com.
There have been a few version numbers higher than 2.20 (2.23, 2.29, 2.33). AFAIK, they can all be bootloader unlocked.
I just got an One x a couple days ago and today I was going to use the AIO toolkit. I noticed though that my h-boot is 1.09. Does this mean anything? Or am I ok to use the toolkit?

I appreciate all the help. Another question. Since I'm on 1.09 would that be the reason its not changing my CID to 11111111.
Your not special just more phones with 2.20 were shipped out recently...but that comes with hboot 1.14 .... Which you have to flash boot IMG seperately...what's your softwares number ....if it's 1.73 there's menu one clicks you can use if it'd 1.85 jusys search for it its very easy to find... Idk if 1.85 works with the 2.20 exploits absolutely grim would know a lot more than me

That shouldn't be a problem as far as I know. As yes, having HBOOT 1.09 means you don't need to extract the boot.img and flash it separately.

Hey, I using AT&T Htc One X , 1.85 build firmware, android version 4.0.3, h-boot is 1.09. I am not able to root my phone using the above method. The CID wont change and it shows an error. Is there any way to fix it?
You're using the wrong root method. There is one specific to 1.85. The link is in the resource roll up at the top of the development forum.

If you followed my directions exactly, then your best bet is updating to 2.14 hboot by RUUing to 3.18. You would need to S-OFF first if you are not already.
I guaranty there is nothing wrong with the 4.2.2 ROMs.

Yea thats what I always thought, was just bein sarcastic.. So for the sake of the thread and the O.P. To retain root you would have to flash recovery after running the RUU correct? Because the gentleman that I was originally responding to stated that theres no need to flash recovery, that the RUU does this for us...
Yes you need to flash TWRP again after you run an RUU. The RUU only flashes the stock recovery.

Ya I used that one click tool for XL to get the recovery..now on to further questions instead of making a new thread i decided to reuse this one.. anyways after I got through all that i decided to go ahead and flash some custom roms and ended up with the same results when ever someone sends me pics or videos through text, they will download fine until i connect to a wifi, then i get an error saying "couldn't download now, please try again later. Even when I disconnect from the wifi i get the same error and sometimes will not even get data untill I wipe and re flash but everything works fine with the stock rom.. what could cause this i have tried messing with the data options in settings and nothing works. rom's I have used are
Root box
slim bean
xylon
all of them have acted that same and all use the 3.4 kernel. so I'm stuck on stock until i can figure out whats going on :crying: so any help is greatly appreciated :good:
