[Q] Reverse USB Tethered Connection Sharing via wifi?

So I have sucessfully and easily reversed tethered my phone to a pc via usb as instructed by caplocks66 in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345
I would like to take this to the next level and connect clients to my phone while it is using this reverse tethered connection. I enabled wifi tethering on my phone first and then connected to my computer via this reverse tether app. The reverse tether to my phone was sucessful and gave me access to the internet. My wifi tethering was broadcast and clients could connect to my phone but did not recieve any WAN data(page could not load message). Any ideas out there how to make this work? I would have posted this question in the thread listed above, but cannot yet post in the Developer section..
Thanks in advance!

Hey,
I am trying to accomplish the same thing as my wireless router is down and i need to stream internet wireless at my place.
First try, i thought is enough to reverse tether on USB, this way getting internet from the PC, and then tether wireless to connect my laptop. Of course, this doesn't work, because the reverse tethering is not using 3g or EDGE connection, and WiFi tethering is working only if the phone has internet through a 3g/EDGE connection.
Unfortunately, there is no way to bridge the connections like you would do on a linux/windows machine. But i think a tunneling script (just like the one used on reverse USB tethering) may do the job. Either this, or a hack to make Android think that the internet received through reversed USB tethering is coming from the 3g connection.
Any ideas on this matter?

[Q] USB Tethering without data connection

Hi,
Using Android 4.0.4 on an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-I717).
I'm trying to set up a simple network between a computer and the android. This is because the android will access a web page on the computer. Unfortunately I don't have the option of rooting the phone. I've been trying to get USB tethering enabled without a SIM card or wifi connection but it always bugs me with a message "Insert SIM card to access network services". I've tried a couple of apps that try to enable it for you (Tether It, Tasker), but they do not work.
I note that tethering will work if you start with WiFi connected to an access point, enable tethering, then disconnect WiFi, but that's not good enough here because I may not have anything to connect to. I need to just be able to hit a button somewhere and have it work with no data connection.
Is this generally possible (even by writing an app)?
As an alternative, I know I can do a hotspot without data connection via "Hotspot Control", but it does not stay connected reliably (it may drop out after about 2 hours and this must run unattended). I think the unreliability is either the fault of the phone or the app. I haven't found any other hotspot apps that work without data.
I'm also aware that there are USB-powered WiFi routers that can be used but I'd like to look into USB tethering and android hotspots first.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Best wifi tether solution for Boost J700P?

Can anyone point me to a good, preferably free solution to wifi tethering? As of now, this phone has root but no custom roms, so it looks like wifi tethering outside of Boost hotspot with its monthly fee will have to be provided in an app.
If anyone finds this question in a search, what seems to be working for me so far is wifi tether router.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
A trick i found to get free usb tethering is download and install pdanet on youre laptop computer then use pdanet app.. i had to change the vpn to the 2nd option in the list in advanced settings of pdanet desktop app to get my internet connection to turn on.. but i got free uab tethering to my laptop..
I used the Galaxy tools app, it was only one click and hotspot was working instantly, all I did was click on enable native hotspot and try method two option in app, no reboot was even needed, I searched google for the app, it also has a lot of other useful features
the app listed me as not rooted but root access was granted and everything work in the app
Any update on this? I need tethering for my chromebook and usb tethering wont work with foxfi as I cant install it on chrome. I try other USB tether apps and my phone doesn't have USB tethering options apparently. I have already tried rooting the phone and editing the build.prop to insert "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" and that will get me past the first hotspot error, but once the connected device tries to connect to the internet it throws the hotspot error at me.
I have the Virgin Mobile J7 2016 SM-j700p
Any help would greatly be appreciated
