Hello everyone!
I'm writing for help from the experts. I don't know if this had been answered somewhere else but i looked all over the place and i didn't find anything for this phone.
After trying and trying for a few days now, i have not been able to unlock my verizon SGS3 so that i can use it with other sim cards.
I currently have it running on JB 4.1.2 it is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked thanks to the EZ- Unlock technique.
But when i put in a non verizon sim it says "sorry, this SIM is not supported. please....."
Can it be done ?
Thanks in advance
BTW: i've tryed the "galaxsim", and "Sim unlock" by chainfire as well as all the other similar apps i could find on the playstore but they have not worked for me.

Verizon S3 is sim unlocked for GSM, but not sure about the cdma. You can use it with t-mobile, att etc. There is a thread in android development forum about how to setup s3 as global phone. Try that one if you are using gsm.
Thanks doesn't hurt....
clarification

Hey !
Thank you so much for responding. I am trying to use it on a gsm network but it wont register, that's why i figured maybe its locked somehow. Also because of the message in the top that says non-verizon sim, it says sorry this sim card is not supported etc..
Where can i find the thread you mentioned?
Thanks again.
Go through the below thread to check how to setup the Verizon GS3 as world GS phone :

Ok so i worked on it till very late last night, and was able to do everything in the thread. My phone now shows the network apn in the apn list in the settings and i was able to get rid of the non-verizon sim message that poped up at startup.
But my phone still won't register on any network, I've tried to different sim cards and tried in global settings as well as gsm/utms auto or manual but it wont register onto a network.
What can i do ? Is it locked by Verizon or something ? Should i flash a different rom ?
Thanks for your invaluable help, i really appreciate it!
Have you tried using phoneinfo? Try using the phone info app to select preferred network type by going into device information. Find link below to the app. Try with different network type

If this doesn't work then try with lte sim card.

I am a complete noob and this is my first ever post on XDA. I have searched the forums but unable to find it. So here are some of my queries.
I am using at&t one x, sim unlocked and I am using it in Pakistan with Waridtel. Now when I check for updates in at&t software update, it says service unavailable (because I m not using at&t I guess). So does this mean I will not be able to update it unless I put at&t sim in it?
The other query is all the methods which I searched including one click method and manual ones have a step where one has to check for update. But as I cant have it because it says service unavailable, does this mean I will not be able to root unless I put at&t sim in it?
Sorry for being so dumb again but help will be highly appreciated. I have attached couple of scrrenshots of firmware and baseband etc.
Regards,
Remove the sim card and try again using wifi. That worked for someone in Japan. Just remember not to accept the update. There are instructions for how to proceed.

Happy to be of service.
I found a stock Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. In the "About Device" section, it says the model is SCH-I535. I'm extremely new to android and rooting, etc. This is my first android phone.
If possible, how can I unlock this phone to use for T-Mobile USA? Also, if it does unlock, will I get 4G data speed on the phone?
Thank you,
Jason

its not going to work properly on t-mobile...yet I should say.
fyi check my guide in the dev section...section 7 directory, should be a link to unlocking device for gsm capability.
How about attempt to get it back to its owner?
OK, first off the carrier will never give you the owner information. Second, other than calling the number in about phone there is no other way to get it to the previous owner. You can try calling the most recent dialed to try and get it back to the owner but if they already claimed it as lost on their insurance there is no going back. They do not stop the claim.. Third, I will not tolerate abuse on my forums.

ok so i have already unlocked and rooted my verizon galaxy s3 using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
everything is working fine however when i place a t-mobile sim card the phone says that the sim card i inserted is not a verizon sim card. can someone please point me into what i have to do next? i have a 16gb verizon galaxy s3 with 4.1.1 jellybean installed. i searched the verizon s3 forum via the search tool but couldn't find anything with my problem. thank you so much for all your help!!!
Your problem is that you have mistaken unlocking a bootloader for unlocking the SIM. Unlocking a bootloader means that you can now flash custom ROMs,kernels, mods, and tweaks.

ok so i did the search and found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013647 just in case another noob like me is searching and thanks for your reply. im going to work on this and hopefully make this work
Hi - I am a newbie so bear with me. I have a a Verizon I535 Samsung Galaxy S3. I live in Minot ND where Verizon is predominant, but AT&T has decent coverage here. My idea was to break my contract with Verizon and go with Prepaid Net10 (so I purchased the AT&T Micro SIM from them).
My phone had the recent update so it was running 4.1.2 version of software.
I also rooted my phone via the latest Casual Root ToolKit made by BeansTown106. So I rooted it first, then I ported my phone number to the new SIM card and put the SIM card in my phone.
I had also downloaded APN Manager pro as I knew once I added a new APN I would need to delete the old one. My problem is I can't get this app to work, nor any other APN app that I download (I tried HedgeHog, Tweaker, and others). I have read that these apps won't work for deleting APNs with the version of software I am running?
Not sure if I even have the right APN either, because the service is poor and I have no data. I am also getting the annoying "NON-VERIZON SIM" message.
Here are my questions:
1. Is there a way for a newbie to delete the old APN - step-by-step instructions would be helpful!
2. Does anyone have a good APN for NET10 AT&T for this phone?
Thank you in advance, I am learning so much here! :good:
