[Q] Why can I receive but not send files using Wi-Fi Direct? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (not rooted) and I can receive files via WiFi Direct on my One X, but I can't seem to connect and send files from my One X. I've tried using Superbeam/Wifi Shoot and neither one will work. When I use Superbeam it try's to enable my phone as a hotspot and fails because I don't have the correct data plan to enable my phone as a hotspot. Because of this my phone freaks out and then reboots itself. With Wifi Shoot, the connection just seems to fail. I stock rooted my phone using Hasoon's All-In-One Toolkit, I'm running Android version 4.0.4. Any ideas as to why I can't send files?

Lost Phone: need to remotely install app to find

I lost my phone last night and need to remotely install an app to find it. I tried Plan B but it isn't sending me my location so I assume it isn't installing properly (or working properly). Are there any similar app I can try?
(FYI my phone is still one b/c we call it and it rings the normal amount before going to voicemail)
If it's relevant, I'm running Wizard's MIUI on my Droid X from Verizon.
You can try install it via play store on your pc ( log in with gmail) if the mobile is connected with the internet it should install

[Q] Anyone else having problems with WiFi Direct?

I have a rooted evita running 1.73 with stock HTC sense. I also have an unlocked and rooted Nexus 7 tablet. I am unable to share files using WiFi Direct. I can connect fine but can't find the WiFi Direct option when trying to share from say, gallery. I have looked on Google and others seems to have this problem, but no solution is offered. I've looked here and can't find a suitable thread. Does anyone here know why this isn't working?
Update: Since I've started using CM 10, I've had no problems.

look for task manager app and verify if it is in the backgroud.
youo can use tibackp also to look for it in the system.

WiFi Direct issue

I tried it with several ROMs. Jelly Beans 6/7, Executioner, MIUI and Cleanrom Regular/Lite. I am able to connect and receive files from a non rooted Jelly Bean Verizon Galaxy S3. Even my fiances rooted s3 currently on Executioner ROM, does the same thing. I'm thinking did they leave something on the leak version or? I am able to S Beam, and connect via WiFi direct. The only problem is when we send files they don't get an incoming file notification. Anyone else have this problem? I mean WiFi direct is one of the best features it being able to transfer files so fast. I need that ish though lol. Although my friends non rooted JB GS3 works perfect. It's like I wanna go back to stock yo!

[Q] Can't connect to WiFi

I recently rooted my phone to CM 10.1.0-RCI-d2vzm and I can not connect to Wifi and my work. Usually when you connect to the wifi a separate screen pops up that says "click agree to the rules or what ever" then you are good to go. Before I rooted this would pop up on my phone, my previously rooted GS III running CM 10.1 would connect just fine.
any suggestions
Did you flash a kernel and was it for aosp?

[Guide] Enable Tethering/Hotspot - Samsung S4 AT&T I337 (4.3 & 4.2.2)

Here are easy steps to enable tethering/hotspot on your Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T I337.
When I was on 4.2.2 Xposed MODs that enable tethering worked fine. However, they don't work on 4.3, or at least that what I experienced.
***** You have to be ROOTED, otherwise, you will not be able to rename system files. ********
Here are very easy steps to follow. Works perfectly!
1. Go to Settings --> More --> Tab on Application Manager
2. Go to All tab (By scrolling Vertically)
3. Find AT&T Hot Spots and click it
4. When App info opens, click Turn off
Now AT&T Hotspot is turned off (The above steps just to ensure that AT&T hotspot is off
"If you don't find AT&T Hot Spots, then it means you dont have the app. That is good. Follow the below steps"
5. Use whatever app that allows you to rename system files such as ES Explorer or Script Manager ( Prefer Script Manager as ES doesn't give root permission on 4.3, until now)
6. Download the attached file and save to your phone. Know exactly where you saved it, so you can use it later on. ( I would have given credit to the person who ported the file, but i don't know to whom it belongs to. So, Thank you XXX!)
5. Browse to System/app and rename TetheringProvision.apk and TetheringProvision.odex . Rename them to any name that you want, or just change apk and odex to bak (This way, you can rename them back in case the steps did not work for you)
6. After you finish replacing the files, go to your folder where you saved the attached file and copy it to system/app
7. Reboot your phone.
As easy as that! Attached is a proof picture
Now go to your phone and enable Tethering. If a message popped up saying "There is a temporary network problem...", or any other error messages, such as call 611, don't worry, Tethering WILL BE ENABLED. Just click OK. within 5 seconds, you will see the lovely hotspot icon at the status bar
Enjoy it
While this is a very safe and easy steps, however, as it goes with all MODs and system changes, i claim no responsibility if your phone is bricked or other apps started to act funny.
Good luck
Does this also enable bluetooth tethering that we have lost all together. Like an idiot I am already paying at&t for tethering so don't need this unless it enables bluetooth so as to use with my gear. Thanks btw and excellent work.

I have never used it as it's slow, that is why they started to offer the tethering over Wi-Fi. but it looks like it is working as showing on the attachment. Did not try it though

Do you need to be rooted to do this?
Yes. You cannot rename system files without being rooted

If you renamed both files and copied the new one, you shouldn't at least see the call 611 message!
This is weird

Glad it worked for you. If you followed all the steps to the end, I mentioned on my first post to ignore any error messages and clik OK.

Hi guys, i am pretty new to all of this. I just rooted my phone last night. I installed Titanium Backup after the root. I am unable rename the two tethering provision files. Any advice? Using ES File Explorer, it always says "task is failed". Any advice? Thanks- Jeff
