I'm running 4.1.6 (it just updated) of Play store and it has been trying to push the Hangouts update to me for a few days. I just haven't decided if I actually want it or not, I kinda liked Talk OK.

It's OK, I guess. It interfaces fine with the older Talk and Google Talk on PC. Just seems like a lot of clutter that I won't use much. I don't have much need for group conversations for example. I just liked the simplicity of Talk. I just have to dig a little deeper to get the one on one conversations that I want than I used to have to do.

i have hangouts without this download.. perhaps its your rom.. im using raymans cm 10.1 the v.8 notice i said his rom.. not someone elses that took over his work.. everything works on this rom.. it rocks 3-7 days battery life uberness

Where were you able to get a working apk for Zinio? I couldn't find anything on their website about android support. I really want to use their service, but without an app for my TF I just can't get myself to take the plunge.

Well, that just makes me even more excited for the update.
(Just got the tablet end of last week, so I'm still in that hesitant stage before rooting / custom romming her)
It is on the 3.1 that Roach posted.
Did any of you guys used Zinio yet? I would like some feedback...
I used it on the iPad and it was good. Transformer is coming today so I'll post how it works here.

I would greatly appreciate it. I really enjoy me some mags, but it's a pain in my (you know) to keep track of all those print copies, not to mention how much space they take up.
Zinio looks like my solution, I just can't do it without an app for my tf you know? But yeah, if you could post your thoughts I'd be quite grateful.
Yeah it came with the 3.1 update and it works fine although the text has been a bit blurry a couple of times but it seemed to sort itself, there's not a lot of options either its very basic but i love reading my mags subscriptions on my transformer so it does me fine

Well u have to download that they can be viewed offline. Also the zinio version that ships with the 3.1 update no longer works since there is a version on the market the one pre loaded in the tf101 is no longer supported by zinio and doesn't work is now u have two apps in the app drawer which is kinda anoying

That is really annoying. On another note, I kind of wish this app wasn't included in the first place. I have no need / use for it, but don't wish to root the TF, just to remove it. Although, I should admit that I have found most of the other "bloatware" apps that have been included quite useful (Polaris, for example)
Nook app
I've been using the Nook app for magazine reading. Images are sharper than Zinio in the few mags I've tried and the "Article View" is really useful. The only con is that the app is a little slow. Hopefully the 3.1 overclock kernels are not too far away (release the codes Asus, lol).

Netflix on ICS rom

Has anyone stumbled on a rom that is ICS for g2x that has working netflix.
There are no ROMs that exist just yet -- I've used both EB's ICS and HFS. Video is broken, be it camera, or games.
I use HellFire Sandwich 1.6 right now and Netflix works on it just fine.
I've also tried Eaglesblood and it worked on there too. But imho HellFire is better overall.

Hardware Acceleration doesn't work at all on any ICS rom from what I understand. So our G2x will have trouble doing a lot of things as of now.I can't wait to get rid of this ****ty phone.

Read Hellfire's change log, media acceleration was recently added. Netflix has been working for me on Hellfire for awhile now, at least 2 or 3 weeks. I can also watch videos on the SD without a problem, just cant use the stock video player, download one off the market. Hulu has never worked for me on any ICS rom. Also when i first installed Hellfire i could not get Flash player to work, so i used a backed up copy I had of flash and its been working ever since.
Yeah HF 1.6 works with Netflix. At least it has been for me. Got it straight from the Play Store, latest version (though it worked for weeks before that anyway). You could try two things. Within ICS, go to developers in settings and turn on Force GPU Acceleration. And the another is to Try using Nullifier to make sure you don't have any remnants of old conflicting files (CAUTION: that will delete everything you have except your external SD. Flash a new rom before turning off the phone after nullifying.) Worth a shot I'd say. Just careful and make sure u always backup.

I can't wait to get rid of this phone either, but at least running a new ROM it's halfway decent and usuable. Once my contract is up, though, I'm off T-Mobile. Not impressed with their service.
As far as I know Netflix doesn't work on any ics for g2x. Last I tried was HFS 1.5. I had video recording, playback, browser flash and YouTube working great, but no Netflix. 1.6 came out on Easter, 6 days ago, and the zip auto wipes, thus can't be flashed over 1.5 without having to resetup your phone. I used hfs since 1.1 n flashed each new zip over the preceding one without wipes or any issues. When 1.6 wiped me out and had lame star on unlock I switched back to cm7 nightly 225 before checking Netflix. I would love a confirmation that it works on 1.6. Anyone that says they've had it working for weeks is probably lying, or mistaken.

Google Now with voice working 100%!

So I installed the new Google Now hacked apk and it works 100% on my One S running Torxx Tmobile ROM! I used Total Commander to rename the original system file, copied the apk to system/app, set the permissions and then went into the system/app folder and installed it after setting the permissions. For some reason just moving the app didn't replace the system search. I installed the voice workaround from the Play Store and wallah! Working perfectly so far. Happy installing!

Did you download the voice workaround from the Play Store? Yes it's not the native jellybean voice engine but the workaround works fairly well. I've been playing with it fairly relentlessly for the last 24 hours and it has heard what I wanted to say 95% off the time. Pretty sweet update to our already great search feature.

However, the voice search has to be initiated separately to work. Doesn't work from within Now.

Check the original thread, somebody actually got it working completely without the workaround needed. Grab the zip file and flash it, it works flawlessly on my One S! The only thing I had to do after flashing it was change the permissions of the files. And that's only if your microphone doesn't stop listening.

This is a version of the app that doesn't do the double take thing that shows you the results twice. I find it works much better and smoother, it still comes up with blank results occasionally but all you have to do is touch the screen to see them.

I designed SickSky for phones and not for tablets. The problem is if I allow it as compatible with tablets on Play, then a lot of people would not be happy with how it runs on a tablet (ie no landscape, no tablet-specific layouts etc). Anyhow it is still in beta for now.
Unfortunately the Play Store says it's incompatible with the HD2.

From what I remember Slimbean has a non-standard DPI by default, so you will most likely get compatibility issues with a few apps on Google Play. I have however had quite a few reviews from Galaxy Nexus owners.

It has been a good couple years. For now I am going to focus on building panels to suite most needs. Next up will probably be a shortcuts panel. Not impossible to add widget panels later on, but going to stay clear from that for now since I wouldn't use that myself.

That's cool. When I saw that development ceased on Zeam's Google Play page, I downloaded ADW EX Launcher (I still hold the Zeam apk files). The one feature that these two have that no one else seems to include were the ability to hold a good number of apps in their dock drawers.
