Just out of curiosity, I wonder how and why the different Android devices are listed the way they are? I mean for example why some of the carrier labeled SGS3 are listed in one section of the forum list and then after those listings you find completely different devices and after those different all the sudden the international SGS3 is listed. This occurs when clicking the forum button on the main XDA page. Without beeing logged in. Luckily I can set whatever device I want when I log in.
I believe it's the order in which the boards were added, so chronologically.

Actually, what ShadowLea said is correct. Infact, while using the site it shows the list opposite to how it is displayed via the XDA/Tapatalk app.
Using the app, the top of the forum list will display the first device added to XDA (which hasn't yet been moved to the Legacy forums) and the bottom of the list will show the most recent device forum to be added to XDA.
As it's opposite on the site, the top of the forum list will show the most recent device to be added and the bottom of the list will show the first device to be added to XDA.

OK I understand. Sorry for asking such a unimportant question... As you know, curiosity killed the cat. (me cat)

I am going to receive my Nexus 7 in couple of days and I have started reading the respective forums. I got scared when I saw one of the threads has more than 1000 pages i.e. more than 10,000 posts I have to read to avoid falling on others' mistakes or to avoid repeating a question.
With such thread it is next to impossible to read it and keep the device in the safe side from mistakes which were faced by other users.
Therefore, I would suggest if there is a general Rule in all replies or posts to mention the word [Problem] in the starting of any post.
If this will be followed, it will be easier for users to search for the problems which others faced in a particular thread for a ROM, app, mod, etc...
Hope my idea is clear.
Or just Google search your problem and append xda and your device at the end of the query

The last pages of kernel, rom and tweak releases contain and cover the biggest parts of what's new and what could happen. You're never alone with a problem. Some development sub forums have guides for nearly everything.
Looks the idea isn't good. Anyways it was just and idea.

Hi, I have a cdma based android phone. The model is zte v6700. Purchased yesterday for my dad who had cdma sim. He finds difficult to swipe and answer call. In my note 2 I've installed big screen ID, which allow me to tap to answer or decline. I tried installing this app and still doesn't work. Is there any way to get tap to answer instead of swiping up to accept.

Hello guys,So im with three.uk they dont do LTE yet but they r about to roll it out very soon however they do DC-HSDPA and im in area where i should be getting it sadly im not getting it for some reason top of the screen shows only H+(mostly) sometimes H and 3G. If i go to connections->More Networks-> Mobile Networks -> Network mode i only get WCDMA/GSM(auto connect) or WCDMA only so this is what i get. I was reading that there is some problem with s4's shipped from korea and people advice to flash to unbranded stock well one was australian so i even flashed to australian firmware even to getman firmware so far no luck no lte in options not detecting DC-HSDPA just after flashing to getman/australian firmware i got an extra option in network mode and it is gsm only plus the other two i said before. So my question is how i could get this DC-HSDPA working and what indicator top of the screen will show instead of h+ will it show DC ? i was trying to find answers but no luck so far please help me outKind rengards Martin

Funny how even after changing our forums name from "Samsung Galaxy S 4g" to "Samsung Galaxy S (4g model) people still come here thinking it's the s4
Should have renamed it SGH-959T/W
Well, and the actual forums themselves are still named S 4G. It's only the containing forum that's been renamed. It seems to have slowed the mess somewhat, but unfortunately we still have a moderate number of people who choose not to read.

mmm. I may suggest that the device forum to: Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V/T959W)
Saying T959 twice I think makes it a bit more clear.
If there is a rename, ALL the forums should be renamed... not just the header. I think that's where we're getting most of our current lazy bleedover now, from people who still see the S 4G rather than the S (4G Model) which is more clear.
Why not just add "NOT S4" to it as well.

Because then we'd need to add Not S, Not Epic 4G, Not Fascinate 4G, Not *every other phone model whose name we're somewhat near and whose lazy members can't be bothered to post in the right place* and that makes the forum name rather messy. Especially when reading on a tiny phone screen.

we could just rename it to "Fah-Q Acid UserDebug 4G"

Instead of doing that, why don't the monitors simply delete any thread that's about some other phone as soon as it's started? That way, the person will not get any answers and will just go away after awhile.

That requires a moderator that is on hand all the time. Or people to report and not respond. And it apparent that is just not gonna happen either.
Best solution is report the post and people not feel the urge to tell the person that are a (insert insult).

The same thing is happening in the Galaxy 3 forum, which they had to rename to the Galaxy Apollo (Galaxy 3) forum. They are still developing roms for that little phone!

How about we just let the threads die after kindly reminding the S4 users that this is not their phone. Instead of arguing about it and keeping the very thread that we don't want alive. One person guide the S4 user in the right direction and then leave the thread alone to die. How does that sound?
As most of you know, IB Times and Christian Post are the absolute worst sources for Android news. They post completely fictitious rumors without any sources and without mentioning that the past 1010928 rumors they posted were wrong. I made the mistake of clicking on a few of these stories, so for a few months, I've gotten nearly daily notifications in Google Now about Nexus articles posted on these websites. I want to remove these websites from my Google Now completely.
I did some research on how to do this, and Google said to click the menu button on the individual notification inside of Google Now and I can request that no more results from that website be displayed. However, that's not a choice. Instead, I have the option of whether or not to continue to receive articles relevant to the Nexus devices. I do want to receive articles about Nexus devices, just not from these sources.
Can anyone tell me how to remove notifications from specific websites without removing notifications for the subject of the articles? Thanks in advance. Also, I wasn't sure if this went in Q&A or Apps & Themes, so I made a judgment call and went with the Q&A forum. Apologies if it should have gone elsewhere.
Try deleting the offending pages from your Google browsing history. You may have to wait a few days after that for the cards to stop appearing.

I'll try that and see if it works. I thought of it as a possible solution, but figured I'd see if there was an easier way first. Thanks.
Edit: Ok, so I tried that, but it can't be the solution. Apparently I had already done this for both Christian Post and IB Times, and the only history results I had were three IB Times results from the past month where I clicked the link based on the headline without looking at the source first. All of the earlier IB Times visits and all of the Christian Post visits were gone. However, I received a Christian Post notification as recently as two days ago.

I've never been to those sites before GN, and they keep showing up.
I agree with what you are saying... garbage articles that shouldn't show up in my GN. Subscribing!
I would like an answer to this too!
I think I'll just email CP and IB and tell them to stop posting crap. :/

I'm curious too. I keep getting GN notifications for international soccer scores and it says below them that I searched for this team. Trust me, I have not. I don't search for any sports or teams. I went as far as reporting it to Google but haven't gotten a response. I've checked my search history and also deleted it. But they still appear at random.

Agreed. I like the automatic nature of GN, but I would love more control over what pops up. Regarding those two websites, I'm sure they're just click bait. They always pop up whenever you search any rumors, so they get a ton of clicks for people to view ads. I doubt they care what they post, as long as people get them ad money.
dont you get that three buttons menu option at the right top corner of the card? i think you can remove the updates from there. atleast it shows me that option from some other sites that i visit on google.
This might be a stupid question and so I apologize in advance, but you do have the latest version of google now right?

Hopefully we get an answer for this I want my android and tech news but it's from a bunch of BS websites
I too hate that crappy news feed that Google now gives. There should be a voting system or report spam/irrelevant option in Google now so that these dumb sites don't keep posting in our 'interested' feed

Yeah. There is no option to remove specific sites any more. We can remove news about a topic, but that doesn't help as I want news about android, just not from these horrible sites.
Alright. Hopefully someone can come up with something.

Funny, but give the guy a break.
Not everyone knows as much about their phones as we do. This thread has the potential to become a database of FAQs and little things not everyone knows about. Thanks OP for looking out for those who don't know as much as some of us.
When (if) more people chime in adding things they've noticed, perhaps add them to the OP. Perhaps even change the title to "GS5 FAQs" etc...

I've noticed numerous bad threads for the S5 regarding either the same question asked multiple times, silly info, or just the multiple of the same thread in general. We currently have 4 threads of Galaxy S5 Developer Edition. Sigh

My question is how do I get to the AT&T s8 plus forums as the app doesn't have all the phones listed just top and new?
Go to the 'Top' section, click the search icon and type in Samsung Galaxy S8+ and click search (or hit enter) and there should be a bunch of carrier specific S8+ forms. I'd press on the star next to the form you'd like to bookmark so you don't have to keep searching.
