I've been having this issue the past couple of months (ever since Google updated their Play Store to the white version) -- its Android OS has been constantly around 60%:

It goes berserk like that even after freshly flashing a new ROM (4.1.2/4.2.1/4.2.2).
I'm a little worried, since I've read last month someone's NS burst on fire: http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/1ay4cd/woke_up_to_my_nexus_s_on_fireanker_battery/
P.S. I'm not sure if this has to do with this issue -- but, my NS' USB port has been damaged, and I've been using an external battery charger (+ extra OEM battery) to charge its battery.

That's the first thing I did after the Play Store app updated itself and my NS' Android OS is still around 60%.
So, if this continues will my NS eventually blow up? I don't wanna risk it blowing up while in my pants pocket or while sleeping in my bedroom.

I would say if the port is damaged you run the risk of damaging the phone further probably shorting the thing out. To say that the port has caused the issue I don't know.

Sorry for not posting this in the CM10 thread; this is my first post and I'm not allowed to comment in the dev forum yet.
I installed CM10 (after having used CM9 successfully for a month or two) from this thread (the 8/9 build) last night.
Everything more or less works fine, but I was playing with the torch app for about 5 seconds when my phone went from ~60% charged to off:

I don't actually think it was the torch app that sucked all of the power (the "battery" section of the settings says almost all of it went toward the screen) as I tried to repro it by using the torch app again and it doesn't make a dent in the power. No games or web browsing was happening.
I'm not so much looking for a solution as I am interested in posting this as a kind of bug report, since the ROM is in early alpha. If there's anything I can do to provide more information, I would be happy to do so.
yea. h8rift is working on these wakelocks. if you look at the time "awake" it is awake even when the screen is off. gps and nfc have been thought to be the culprits. but yea all of us are having the same issues.

I see that it was awake a lot, but it's the sudden spike toward zero that seemed really odd to me. I was using it at the time and it dropped so quickly that, by the time it told me to plug it in, it was already at zero.

yea i experienced the same thing, except from 82 percent to about 71. just overall the battery readings and management on cm10 so far are whack.
Hello all! Recently got my Verizon Pixel and every time I put it in my pocket or use it, it randomly starts to warm up and gets uncomfortably hot. Is this supposed to be happening? Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

What apps do you have running, have you checked your battery stats and see what's running that could be causing this? Do you perhaps have a bad signal in your area?

I do not believe that it is any one app or background process causing this since the battery stats say that the Android system is what mostly drains the battery (along with the screen). In terms of signal, I do have somewhat weak connection here and there at the University. However when I go off campus, it also begins to get quite warm in the pocket.
I have quite the opposite. In fact, I've been crazy impressed with the lack of warmth during intense operations.

I've been having that same issue. I have the smaller Pixel. Usually rebooting seems to fixed whatever it is. But it's still a little disconcerting.
I have had another model of a smartphone couple of years ago and there were the reports of this phone getting hot when it was in the pocket. It turned out to be some sort of a health app that was running and sensors were active measuring stuff. Few other users chimed in confirming the issue, but my phone(same model as theirs) didn't have that issue. It was because after getting the phone, I disable all the app that I am not interested in. I believe it was a Samsung model, possibly their Galaxy line.
As title says, the backlight started shining through on my U11+.

It happend today, i was on my phone. i put i down to go get something to eat and when i came back the bleed came. it's around the entire screen.
i haven't contacted HTC yet because i wanted to ask you guys and get your opinions first.
i haven't dropped it, i haven't thrown it after somebody. i've been looking after it.
Sorry for the unacceptable quality on the picture, it's taken with my work phone.
That's not good. RMA it if you can.
Did you get yours repaired? My u11 plus just did the same thing today. I am wondering if too much squeezing the edge sense warpped the screen.

It happened to me too: I was watching a film, checked phone and it presented the same symptom, but in always on display. Rebooted and same problem. After a little time (just 10 minutes or down there).
I am using edge function and it is no longer happened .

I think the last time it happened to me was in January.
It's a bit bizzar that it comes and goes like that, I still haven't figured it out what's causing it.
But it doesn't seem to be a problem any more so I'm not worried.
Hey guys in the past week my XZ has been having some serious overheating issues. Even just idling at the home screen it sits at around 40-45c. It seriously makes the phone unusable since when you open anything it just warms up quick and throttles hard. I was thinking it was the last patch that came out so I unlocked the bootloader and tried out a couple of roms like carbon rom which was buggy as hell and slimbit aosp. No improvement. Tried out eXistenZ 6.0 which is what im still on now and no improvement. I honestly have no clue whats going on if anyone can help me that'd be great. Do you guys think my battery could be needing replacement? The phone isint even a year old. I have also tried the FSCv2 mod and still no improvement.

Change habit that after clean flash instantly install everything that exists in the playstore , especially various CPU/memory/battery monitors.
Install one aplication at a time until you find the problem.
btw, carbonrom Is excellent rom like all the other AOSP ROMs for the XZ

I don't think its a certain app I installed since it just started happening out of nowhere after no new apps have been installed. Android battery menu doesn't show any excessive battery drain from apps either. Even after I did a clean flash it was getting super hot and throttled in the setup process.
*Edit* It actually got to 50c while simply replying to your reply in Chrome and lagged tf out of my keyboard. Literally about to throw this phone at a wall.
So I've undervolted the cpu and the phone still reached 53c after browsing Instagram for about a couple minutes. Im seriously loosing my **** at this point. Im seriously thinking that this phone needs a new battery or something even tho its less than a year old.
Update. Did a fresh install of stock rom using flashtool and it throttled during the setup process and still throttles with no apps just trying to send a text message or simply play a song using google play music. Seriously nobody has a clue what is going on? I literally have to have my phone next to a fan just to do anything on it.
I discovered that my battery is only at 38c usualy so I think its safe to say that my battery is okay. My cpu is constantly pinned at 45+ and I only get about 3-4 hours out of a full charge. Did google play services get an update or something? I have no apps installed in my phone still. I seriously need any help
Hello everyone. It's been a minute since I've posted anything on this site. In January this year I decided to upgrade from my aging Blackberry Priv to one of these phones. I've been using it without any issues until early this morning when I tried to look at my notifications and the screen wouldn't light up. It was working fine all throughout the day, and I don't recall the battery being below 50%. It is unresponsive when I plug it into the wall adapter or my PC, however the PC seems to pick it up as a device called "QUSB__BULK."
The phone is running stock Android, and I only charge it with the wall adapter it came with and occasionally my PC. I only have a few social media and email apps on it. I had the Open Camera app on it, and I'm a little sus of it since there have been times where I would wake the phone up and the camera would just randomly open. It seems like it would bog the phone down a bit when this would happen. I installed the app because I didn't like the way the stock app processed audio while recording videos. The app gave me the ability to record raw audio which worked fine aside from slightly lower volume.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this?

Figured I'd bump this for an update. I contacted the company shortly after I made this post about the phone. The phone was covered under warranty, and they told me to ship it to them for repairs. I shipped it in June and have contacted them a few times since. I'm suspecting that there was some kind of defect in the motherboard since I'm apparently not the only one who has had this issue. I found a post on another forum dating back to last year from someone with the same experience as me where their phone just randomly said "ight, Imma head out." It's been quite a while since I sent it off, which adds to my suspicion that it was a board issue given the whole chip shortage we're going through. I'll update this post if anything comes up in the future. I miss that phone. Been using an iPhone since I sent it off. It's okay I guess, but man do I miss that keyboard.
Update on the phone - I was contacted by F(X) Tec about four days ago. My phone has been repaired and shipped to the US. I should be getting it back by Wednesday. They did not specify what actually caused the issue with it. Hopefully, once I get it back it won't have any further issues.
