[Q] LG P500 Recovery! - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA!
See, my friend bricked his LG P500 while installing a font from ROM Toolbox. He asked me to unbrick his phone.
And I tried to and then this happened:
-I plugged my phone with my PC
-I pressed and hold (Power button+Volume DOWN+Home button)
-Then I got a picture with a Android robot and a yellow triangle sign.
-Then I accidentaly pressed Home button, then there I was in Android System Recover <3e> or something like that.
-It gives me a menu what has
- Reboot system now
- Apply update from sdcard
- Factory reset/wipe data
- Wipe cache partition
-I tried to do "Factory reset/wipe data" but then it threw me back to the robot and the triangle.
I want to do a factory reset and unbrick this phone, it did not have CWM, Amon Ra or xRecovery.
Can I still use the Android System Recovery? But everytime I press Home button, it throws me back to the picture. Other buttons don't work, when I am in the Android System Recovery.

Any help guys?

1. Download recovery of you choice from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23094755&postcount=1
2. Put it within the root of your sdcard and rename it to update.zip.
3. Reboot to recovery and select - Apply update from sdcard and choose update.zip
4. Then reboot again to recovery, and a custom recovery should be installed.
5. now you can flash any custom rom from recovery.

[Q] how to remove clockworkmod recovery???

ok i am rooted but cannot seem to flash a custom rom. everytime i try to do it it takes me back to the clockwork mod recovery screen instead of the other regular one. i removed rom manager and clockwork off of my sd card but it still doesnt let me do it. i tried manually and using rom manager to flash a custom rom it wipes and restores but when it gets ready to load the rom it stops and takes me back to the recovery screen wtf.....please help me man im ready to throw this ****ing phone....arrrrrghh
You need to have "A" custom recovery installed. Currently there are only two that I am aware of; Clockwork's or Amon's.
You can flash a new recovery via adb but if you are unsure how to do that I would first try to see if you can do it through ROM Manager. ROM Manager is Clockwork's app but if you open it up and scroll to the bottom you will see an option to "Install Alternate Recovery." Selecting this will bring up the option to flash Amon's recovery.
If this is successful, make sure you have the "New.ROM.You.Want.To.Flash.zip" on the root of the sdcard and power down the phone.
Once off, hold the volume down button and then press and release the power button (still holding down the volume down button).
The phone should boot into a white screen with a few lines of text. At this point you can stop pressing the volume down button.
Using the volume up/down buttons to navigate the 4 options and the power button to select, select #2 recovery.
The phone will then boot into Amon's recovery which should be a black screen with green text.
Still using the volume up/down keys to navigate and the power button to select, first go to wipe and do a wipe of "erase data-restore," cache, and dalvik cache.
Once this is complete you can select "Return" to go back to the previous menu and select Flash Zip from SdCard.
Select the ROM.zip you want to flash and when finished reboot the phone.
Marvel at your new ROM
its greyed out. do i have to download amon recovery first?
Copy recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img to the root of your sdcard
start the terminal app or launch adb
su(press enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img(press enter)
reboot recovery(press enter)
ok i did this and it told me that it wasnt found and then when i typed in the reboot part it said not permitted.
You obviously did not use ok's instructions above, so what instructions or programs are you trying to use? Clockworks recovery always loads a zip file from the sd card as stated above. Also with this method you do not use a computer at all, maybe to get the zip file to the sd card.

Is Amon the factory? I just want to get my phone back to the factory setting. I tried to unroot my captivate using a one-click app, but it didn't remove the superuser privileges. Do I need to remove this clockworkmod first? If so where can I get this AMON file?
Sorry, I know I probably sound like a moron, but I am new to this Android crap.

no Amon is a custom recovery. try downloading the stock RUU from your service provider and using that. i am not sure if that will re-flash the recovery back to stock, but that is the only thing that i can think of to tell you to try.

Clockwork mod question

Hello
I just installed ROM maneger on my HTC hero. And i was able to flash the recovery. And the first time i was able to boot it into recovery also. But the problem is, that every time after the first boot, i only get that warning triangle. But if i flash the image again, i can go to recovery just once.
I hope you get what i mean. Is this normal? Should i only have to flash the recovery onca and i'm good to go to recovery mode for life? Or is it normal that i have to flash it every time i want to enter the recovery mode?
Thanks in advance
No it shouldn't be necessary, when you flash CWM through Rom Manager it downloads a file called update.zip(fake flash) to your SD card. As long as you have this file in SD card root you should be able to enter recovery. Have you tried pressing volume up + power at the triangle?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I've tried volume up + power now, but it only takes me to the stock android recovery. And on the bottom there is a message:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Any ideas?
It's normal behaviour. As long as you are on a stock ROM the stock Recovery will reassert itself on every reboot. There are a couple of files that can be deleted that will stop this from happening, but i can't name them from memory.

[Q] in recovery !!

Hi everyone
i have a new problem :S
today i have root my phone
and install clockworld recovery
but when i go to recovery i see Exclamation mark and android logo !!!
i press power + volume up to see option .. but i don't see all option .. like install zip from sd card !!
i want to install CM7 !!
Plz help
That's the stock recovery, not CWM.
You have to boot into bootloader mode then flash CWM recovery image from there. After flashing, select recovvery in the bootloader menu and you'll be in CWM.

Sounds like you did not remove /etc/install-recovery.sh if you've already flashed CWM and rooted.
This script is going to install the stock recovery image on each reboot. Boot up - remove / rename this file through root explorer or something similar (or adb if you like) and then reflash CWM either via fastboot or Rom Manager.

[Q] I think I may have unlocked my bootloader twice...

I tried to use the search and google but didn't really find anything helpful. Almost 2 years ago, I unlocked the bootloader back on honeycomb and did custom recovery, root, and custom rom. Then a little while after ICS came out, I did the OTA update.
Today, I reset the xoom back to stock ICS and tried to unlock the bootloader again...thinking nothing of it. The process was taking a few minutes so I decided to get a snack and when I came back it was rebooting.
I assumed that it worked and continued to try and fastboot a recovery image. The recovery image installed and I did another reboot but was greeted with the android welcome screen. Anyways I went through the menus and then tried to enter recovery and it gave me an android laying on its back with and exclamation point above his open chest.
I hard rebooted and can still get into my device, but adb cannot seem to find my xoom anymore. I have tried it on a 64bit desktop and laptop with no luck.
Have I messed up? Or is there a simple fix that I am missing? Thanks in advance for any help!
Can you get into fastboot mode? The second time you unlocked did you have to go through the questions on your xoom again?

Yes, I can get into fastboot by holding the volume down key and the power button. That's fastboot, right?
Yes, I had to go through the menus the second time I unlocked.
sounds like the recovery you try to fastboot did not take or the rom was corrupt.. Which recovery was it? Do you want to be rooted and run a custom rom or completely stock? what xoom do you have(wifi, 3g, 4g)

I want to flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997434
With whichever recovery is best. I tried flashing this recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
I am on a 4G xoom on 4.0.4 but I don't use my data plan. I would like to be on a nice stable build of 4.2.
Download your rom choice, gapps and put them on the root of your sd card. If they are already there skip this step
I like TWRP Recovery the best. Easy to use and lots of options.
download this Twrp 2.4 img to the folder you hve fastboot in
open a cmd prompt in that o that folder
type fastboot flash recovery TWRPv2.4.1.0.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
You should be in twrp 2.4
select backup/restore and backup your current system
select install and find your rom select asnd then swipe to flash
when done then select home
select install again and find the gapps package and install
when done select wipe dalvick/cache
when done select reboot
select system
you should be good to go.
Well I got through all of the steps, but when I try to boot I get stuck in a loop of the roms boot logo. Is it okay to flash a wingray rom over a stingray device?

I think it is fine just the 3g/4g won't work.
I can get you going again but you are going to be starting with a locked honeycomb device. You will then have to either let it update to ICS or JB or unlock, root, install custom recovery and flash a rom. What xoom do you have 3g or 4g?

Okay I restored it again but this time i did a factory reset and wipe dalvick before flashing the rom and gapps. It works! Thank you for your help!
However, could I ask how to root this thing?
since you have a custom recovery on it already and are unlocked.
Download this file Universal xoom root place it on the root of your sd card and flash it. Then reboot and try a root required app such as root checker

Very nice tutorial bro, but there is a much easier way to fix boot loop issue without flashing another recovery.
Download this file: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gh7yw46d45kq57n/FUMu0MIdrm/FIX BOOTLOOP.zip
And flash it through bootlooping recovery.
All credits goes to mb-14 for the shell script, I only made it flashable.
You can also use adb to execute it.
Ya its also nice
Thanks any way
