Despite the fact that button phones became a thing of the past and touch screens perform almost any functions, in some cases buttons are much handier. For example, when you need to take an instant or secret photo. In case of a touch screen, you have to take several steps: unlock the phone, turn on the camera and press “take a picture” icon.
The Photo Button app enables you to take pictures without unlocking the phone. Just double-press any volume button and you have a photo!
The program has the option of switching from landscape to portrait mode, turning off sound and vibration when taking a picture. Additionally, the app gives notifications about new snaps.
To make the app power saving, activation and deactivation functions were added. The functions were complemented with a little widget for easier use.
Currently the application works on most models of mobile phones. But unfortunately, there are some phone models which don’t support the app, for example, some LG and Motorola models.
Install from Google Play
How to use it?
1. Install and start app.
2. When phone is locked (screen off) quickly press two times volume button (+ or -)
***New version***

Great app - works flawlessly on my p990 with TonyP's cm10.1. Would like to see a possibility to use press up- and down keys together instead of the double press option.
But all in all perfect for snapshots =). Thanks man...

I'd like, but I didn't assign credit card to my account with google play.
This is great, I've been trying to do this with Tasker for like a year haha. To make this perfect for me, it would have an option to take a quick picture when holding down power and volume up buttons (just like taking a screen shot except with vol up instead of vol down) Would gladly pay for the pro version for that feature.

Hi when Im wanting to take a photo of say me and mates ect, and the phone is turned around facing us, its hard to know where the button on the screen is, it would be cool if when the camera app opened, we could use, for example, volume up to take a photo or start recording.
Thanks for your time

Yeah not a bad idea, but it would be nice to have a hard button as well
I've just tried experimenting with the timer and it is actually better that way than using a hard button .

I'm using the Touch Focus. You can find it on the settings.
When you press and hold on anywhere on the screen it takes a picture after focusing.
Just make sure you press near your faces so it wouldn't be out of focus.
So press and hold somewhere in the middle almost always works.
Try it guys!

Good idea! maybe configure Mort script to press screen position. and use aebplus to activate the script.
All these posers wanting the down button as they are turning the camera on themselves .... lol
I vote for the up button for when taking pics of others.
So I guess the ability to map to either up or down would be good.
Try VITO ButtonMapper 4.0, 3.1 or 2.0. It's shareware and freeware, and you can make macros of your tochscreen pressings to assign this macros any hardware buttons. I tested it with WM 6.1 and the HTC Hermes. Maybee it works also with WM 6.5.x

Ambient LED Flashlight is the newest flashlight application for Android that is both easy to use, and convenient.
Whether you want a push on / push off button, shake to activate feature, or a light/dark sensor, this application does it all.
It uses the ambient light sensor on your device to determine whether to turn on or off the camera LED. This helps to save battery.
Features:
- Automatically turn on/off LED depending on the lighting condition
- Built in light meter (lux reader)
- Screen light
- Shake to activate
- Simple and beautiful UI
- NO ADS!

I haven't tried it on the xt531. But I do know that the Galaxy S3, Nexus 4, HTC myTouch 4g, and HTC evo will work perfectly.
Why don't just give it a try and let me know? The app does not require any internet/location permissions like other apps.
Works great for me. Sensor in off is pretty cool.

thanks for this handy app

On nexus 4 the shake on feature makes it feel like a real battery operated flashlight in that it turns off if you shake it slightly too. There should be a minimum on length when shaken and possibly a setting allowing you to define that. I like it though good job.
Any chance to use the screen of the phone as the flashlight? That way it can sit on the fatboy pillow and charge and can be used as a night light for my daughter.

hi
working good on galaxy s3 4.2.2
Doesn't seem to work very well on Xperia Z.
Double clicking the Turn on button in the middle creates a FC.
Shake doesn't work with Stamina (expected though)
Had to reboot after turning off stamina to make it work aswell, Shook my phone like 5 times to get it to work.
But this looks great. Looking forward for future updates.
Wow! that's cool! Thanks!
Looks cool, will have to try it out.
It works great, except: 1) the Report Bug button was half hidden on my LG Optimus Vu 2 1024 x 768 screen, 2) not responding to the back button to exit.
Works on my Evo LTE except for the auto function.
I appreciate the feedback and thank you for everyone who downloaded my app. I'm working on bug fixes. Expect updates in the near future
Hi all i made an app to avoid unwanted people can power off, teh device (or put in airplane, mute ot reboot) , this from lockscreen.
if you hold power button a power menu will show, so even with any password everyone can turn off the device. if you have apps like Cerberus for tracking, any thieve can turn off the device, so this app can avoid or at least make difficult turn off the device and works better for non removable batteries (i know you can use hardware buttons, but not everyone knows this).
So my app block the long press power button and close "power menu options", only when you are in lockscreen, you can use in other circumstances. its battery friendly
No need root, but if you want use a custom menu, you will need for reboot y power off only.
Any issue please let me know, if you like my app please give me 5 stars, any issue please contact me before leave a bad feedback or 1 star.

Hi folks. Works on 5.0? actually doesn´t work for me. 5.0 LG G3 D855P + Root. =( Thanks from Brazil dev!
Hello dev, i bought the premium version and i am loving this app, really useful
I saw today (06/10) that it's been updated to v2.1 and before i update i read the description where it says: "removed optional Notification(sorry it will be always on to prevent stop working)"
It works fine for me the way it is right now (marshmallow 6.0.1 on rooted galaxy s7 flat) and i absolutely hate having a persistent notification up there, but i am willing to try and see whats happens, but just in case i don't like it, where can i download the previous version of the apk (2.0 i'm guessing)?
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

Thanks for your app, which I had purchased. It fully worked on stock Android 7.1.2 on the Google Pixel for blocking both the power dialog and status bar from being pulled down. On the final Android 8.0 on the Pixel, it still works for the power dialog but doesn't block the status bar from being pulled down on the lockscreen.
I hope you would consider updating your app to make it work again for that part. I would absolutely donate another $1 to have that feature again.
Thanks!

I asked for something like this months ago bought pro immediately you ate the best person in the entire world. Amy change you can trigger the vibrate from one of the other buttons Suu the same time so it feels exactly like the cap buttons (with an option to toggle on off of course) also wondering does the screen turn off out does it just display a black image wondering about battery effect (but it could use half my battery I would not care.
Once again your amazing!
Is there any way to get this working with the fingerprint scanner? I can't use samsung pay or unlock with my fingerprint while using this.
Really great app Dev! Bought the pro version! I am really enjoying the functionality while the screen is on yet being able to keep the finger print scanner working when I turn the phone on. I know its probably not possible but if this was working with the s pen that would be extra awesome. Thanks again
Hey Jawomo, it's not working on my Galaxy Alpha.
App works great on my note 5. One problem I noted is that long press actually launches Google search. When launching the same with long touch Google search opens and closes immediately

Vibration feedback would be cool if possible in a home button touch ....thank you again
Great app, but if I long press home button to launch google now, when I release the home button the phone returns on the home screen. You should implement something like "if home button is pressed then don't do anything".
Any info about battery drain caused by always active fingerprint scanner?
Going to buy pro!
I want to know about battery drain too.

You can see in 1st attachment, there is a white border, but after that, nothing happen. Also sometimes, very rarely, the screenshot taken after a few seconds that white border gone.
In 2nd attachment showing that I excluded this app from battery optimization.
If you cant figure it out, maybe a logcat can help? I can try to get it if you want. This app is supercoll because my power button will be dead soon, so Im trying to use my power button lesser than before.
Why is it targeting a website upon capture? I could be wrong but my internet filter is blocking it
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I would definitely be willing to pay extra for a version with a scrolling screenshot..

What do you mean by "scrolling screenshot"?

Such behavior indicates that something is killing Screenshot Assistant.
I've seen on the screenshot, that you're using Greenify. Make sure Screenshot Assistant is excluded from Greenify's hibernation.
On oneplus 3 you can take a long screenshot. If you have an article it can scroll down and capture more than just size of screen. Like doing a panoramic pic but vertically
Interesting. It works only in a browser or also in applications like Messenger or Phone contacts? Does it work with Google Chrome?
Can you add status bar and soft navigation bar in the screenshot?
Thank you very much!
I'm afraid I can't add status bar and navigation. The app receives screenshot from the system after you hold Home button. System sends it without status bar and navigation bars, so I don't have a control over it.

I have try some app but it can't take full screen as well...
Thank you. Keep going bro.
Doesn't working for me on LOS 14.1!
EDIT: Yes! Working now! All I had to do is change Long Press Setting on Buttons!
Btw, great app!
Works well on my Samsung Note 4.
Shame it can't be installed on my Samsung Tab S2 or Tab A tablets, it says device not compatible. Is there any reason why you prevent it from being installed on tablets?
