Hi everyone! My first post!
After almost 2 years with my Nexus S, I finally got around to trying a custom rom after it started being ridiculously laggy.
All went well with the update, except now my "Easy Battery Saver" app keeps crashing. (every time I leave my phone a bit and turn it on I get an error message saying the application has crashed.)
When I read the error message, it seems like the reason is "Permission denial: broadcast from android asks to run as user - 1 but is calling from user 0", whatever that means.
I've tried stopping the app, clearing the cache and data, but to no avail. Any ideas on what I can do to stop the Easy Battery Saver app from crashing and making it unusable?
(FYI the ROM I've updated to is Slim Bean build 5 4.2.2 in case that matters.)
Just guessing but fix permissions in recovery or the clockwork mod app. That should help.

I love my nexus s, but suddenly the OS became very slow and I need help on where to start the trouble shooting.
It is the entire operating system -- even the touch screen.
I will pull down the notifications window and it will get stuck,
The browser select screen will pop up when I click on the "world" icon to open up the internet and after I select browser, there is a long pause before the background color appears (recognizing that I selected which browser) and then there is another long pause after recognizing that I selected it.
I have installed apps from other sources besides the android market.
At first I started thinking that I had too many apps running, so I started using the apps manager to force close the apps, but that did not help.
I tried restarting the phone multiple times with mixed results. Sometimes it would help a little, other times not at all.
I looked at how much room I had left on the internal drive and started moving more to the USB drive -- that didn't help.
I started wondering if I installed too many apps.
Then suddenly, when barely chugging alone to try to update a few apps (literally the install part was lagging -- not the download) I got an error message:
Error: Activity Android System(in process system) is not responding
It's funny -- when I want to replicate the error (as in right before writing this post - I cannot).
Thanks for your help on this matter.
Please instruct me on where to start trouble shooting.

root or no root?
no root. Thanks for fast reply.
my hunch is that an app was screwing something up.
There were a few that I wasn't updating because I didn't like how they started changing permissions. But maybe I should go through and update every app that I can... thoughts?

update is good. there could be an app freaking out holding up the system.
And at the worst case scenario you can do a factory reset (menu, settings, privacy) and see if that fixes it... of course you'll need to re-install your apps afterwards

try updating your apps. a factory reset will help, but that should be your last option. launcher apps replace the stock launcher, the thing you press to open the app drawer and that holds the phone app and such.
My phone was acting all sorts of crazy lately (couldn't connect to the internet amongst other random performance issues) and it turned out to be an app causing the problems. It was actually one of two apps. It was either Tetris or memory trainer. I deleted them right after one another so I'm not sure exactly... Just a heads up to be cautious if you're using these. For the record these apps were from the official Android market.
Is anyone experiencing random pop ups of the phone miniapp ? It happens to my several times a day, both with the tablet on or off. Quite annoying.

Yes same here.

Im also having this issues now. It just randomly popups after unlocking. This happened after installing an update from samsung apps.
just an update, afer uninstalling those 2 updates from samsung apps. The mini phone app stopped popping up. Tested it for the whole afternoon.
Unconfirmed. Downgraded the Samsung app application, and for a few hours I was OK. Just when I was about to confirm it was working here it pop up again.
Nope it did not work for me. I still have occasional pop up of the phone mini app, even with the upgraded firmware KL3
i also experienced this when i was on DXKL1. Then I flashed my GTab+ with DXKL2. I also did a factory reset, cache wipe, and wipe dalvik cache. Then it never occurred again. I am now on DXKL3 and I still haven't encountered it.
same here as well..
i also get sudden popups from the phone mini app. no other mini app does that and some times when it keeps showing up more often i restart and it becomes less frequent. i was bugged about this ever since i bought my p6200 and kept trying to reproduce the situation or take note of the time it occurs and the conditions of my tab at that time. i have gone through 3 software formats since i got the tab (not related, just fooling around ) and i became less and less optimistic of spotting a pattern to the problem.
after reading this thread i checked samsung apps and turns out i haven't even opened it since the latest format but i had on several occasions witnessed the phone miniapp popping up.
i've just updated the samsung apps and will report if the problem arises again. i hope it doesn't though, lol
Yep, it does happen even on DXLC1. Whenever it happens, i found that going to the settings & ending contacts from running apps helped solve the problem though.
Cheers!

is the "kill the contacts app" a temp. fix or a fix for the general problem
btw..i had the phone app popup on me today twice, so no go on my scenario as well.
exhibit II with Peach Sunrise 2.04 ROM
I have been rolling peach for about two weeks. Upon reboot I get “the application google services framework (process com.google.process.gapps)has stopped unexpectedly… then all other apps google related force close. Dolphin and opera browsers force close as well. How can I fix this?
Try clearing Google Play Store app data as well as Google Framework Services in: settings>applications>manage applications>(find both and select "clear data"), see if that helps things...

Yeah, I'd say try a new Gapps package file and flash in CWM, also might not hurt to select the "fix permissions" option under advanced in CWM as well...

Exhibit + Peach Sunrise + Go Launcher = eventually many apps Force Close => Repeat ag
I've searched the forums and can't find a solution that fits my problem.
I bought a Galaxy Exhibit II with Monthly4G - love the form factor, accessible battery, expendibility (compared to big $$$ phones).
TMO default load was very unsatisfactory.
I flashed it to Peach Sunrise 2.04, ran V6 supercharger and the phone became what it should be - a good performer.
I also loaded go launcher.
I thought it was stable and just installed apps, updates, etc as I wished (you know like I did on the iPod for 6 months before committing to the android platform.)
For the second time the phone just melted down - starts getting all kinds of random Force Closes - reboots don't help.
I also tried clearing all cache and davlik, uninstalling google play updates.
However, the problem is also affecting some core services and almost any app I start on demand - including backup apps!
I had recently installed some updates and three wifi teathering apps (to make teathering easier). On one of the reboots go launcher went through it's setup several times (I know there was an update recently).
I am really enjoying the android platform and this inexpensive phone - but I really don't want to be reflashing it every 4 weeks.
Here are my questions:
Q1) Does anyone recognize my combination of software or a specific software as causing general instability (Peach Sunrise + Go launcher OR Wifi Tether utils that require root)
Q2) Is there a way to trace what causes the instability? (In my day job I use detailed tracing utilities on Windows to find problems with Apps / OS). I found catlog - but didn't have it installed and can't get it installed now.
Q3) Could I be getting hit from a virus or hacking? (I am running "Lookout" antivirus)
Q4) Does anyone else have this challenge of persistent reflashes required?
I'm not expecting to be hand held here - but when I search "Force close" with any combination I get a lot of information that ends with the solution of reflashing. If that is the only solution I can't be reflashing every month.
Thanks for any help.
I have this problem. So far, I can only find a temporary fix. Flashing anything or clearing cache or dalvik cache in Recovery mode temporarily fixes this problem.
I only get this problem when I'm using Instagram though. I don't know why.
I have this problem on my samsung exibihit 2 4g after flashing it back to stock because of the problem with sending texts while on data. And now none of my apps are working. i had to switch phones because i cant ecen text on it now. If anyone has a fix gor it please message me your suggestions. Thank you
This seems to be Talk crashing. I get the same FC message. I have to login manually to get Talk online again. Anyone else notice that
I am on CleanRom 3.0 right now, fresh install. Now, for the problem. Today while sitting in class I took my phone out to see it was booted into safe mode. So I rebooted it back, and noticed a lot of my downloaded apps were launching 10-25 seconds after I clicked to open them. So, I rebooted again. That didn't work. I cleared cache and dalvik cache. That didn't work. So, I dirty flashed CleanRom 3.0, which still didn't work. After driving and listening to spotify in my car, the apps launched completely fine, and still are. Does anyone know why this is happening? By the way, this happened on my rooted stock rom, that's why I switched roms. I don't know if this could cause any issues, but I do use Directory Bind.
Have you checked if power saver is on?
Another possibility could be a lot of applications running the background and just slowing your phone down.
Check your task manager by holding the home button for about 2-3 seconds.
Yea, power saving is off. And there isn't any apps running in the background when it's ran slow. Most stock apps will launch fast (settings, phone, clock), but downloaded ones won't (I funny, handcent sms). I seriously can't figure out what the issue is. I've even tried messing around with set cpu, but that didn't help.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S duos (GT-S7562 Android 4.0.4 Touchwiz)
It is very unresponsive and slow at times, but that isn't the problem, that's what you expect hen SIII's UI is pasted upon a 1Ghz processor.
Some days back I installed Google Hangout apk (3rd party) which replaced my system talk application.
After the this a lot of apps are crashing in the background and while they crash the phone becomes unresponsive, this is draining the battery life too . Not just system apps, but all kinds of background services are crashing with messages like 'messages has stopped responding', 'maps has stopped responding' coming all over the screen after some time.
I replaced the new hangouts app with older talk apk too, just too see if it works. All in wain.
I don't see any other option than rooting and installing a custom ROM, but that's risky. Can anyone just identify what problem my phone might be having. If you want any other details I am open.
Make backup and Try a factory reset + clear all cache.
Factory reset is the only option I guess. No point of a backup now.
