Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with good styluses, I don't like those fat squishy rounded ones, so my choices are incredibly limited I know. (They're good for screen tapping and navigating, but not precision or Swype typing.
I really enjoy drawing and would like to get involved with it on my nexus 4, It's big enough for me, and I really enjoy drawing on my 3DS (I use Colours 3D)
Enjoying Photoshop Touch as well, but the squishy fat ball styluses don't work well for me, plus I have thick labour man hands :L so that throws that out the window.
Any help? Had a browse on Amazon/eBay but it always returned the same results. I mean I'm bearing with one of those fat ball ended ones atm and just not enjoying the experience.
Edit: Price range isn't necessary.

Ha! Aww I'm not going to ditch the Nexus 4 for that one little feature, found a good few styluses, wasn't expecting them to exceed 25 quid though , I'll bear without and move on lmao
Basically look up styli for ipads/iphones and you're set. I would go with the maglus or the bamboo.
Well idk about your nexus but mine has the sensitivity issue so none of the stylus works for me. It works PERFECT on my nexus 10. So not a stylus fault. But it won't recognize on my nexus 4.
I have Egalo Slim stylus, Adonit Jot Pro and the Cosmonaut. None of them worked on my Nexus 4 but perfectly fine on my nexus 10 and my friends' devices.
Adonit Jot Pro would be a good choice for you.
http://adonit.net/jot/pro/
The Jot Pro didn't work well on mine either. I would not recommend getting it until you get a chance to try it yourself or if the seller would accept returns if it doesn't work well.

So, there is no good stylus for the N4? What a pitty
I have bought one of these 1€, small stylus, which of course lasted less than 24 hours before it was completely useless. I was thinking on the Jot Pro precisely because it looks much more professional... good to know that I would be wasting my money.
Well, it is a shame, I will have to continue using the great handrite with my naked fingers :/

Figured we needed one of these since of all the hate threads when clearly most problems people are having is due to the user, People should know this is a great phone, The best I've had so far since coming from s3/note 2/xperia z/s4.

I spent a good amount of time with the Note 3 at an AT&T store today and I was blown away by it. It meets all of my expectations and needs handily. (I'm hoping the t-mobile network will satisfy as well )
-I like the plastic back. It's textured and has great feel.
-I love how thin it is (even with a SpiGen Bounce case I'm expecting it to be pretty svelt) - the Note 2 felt a bit chunky to me (thick).
-The screen size is perfect - I won't miss my Nexus 7 (and I love my N7)
-The screen is gorgeous. Colors are vivid and the display is clear.
-The massive array of settings, configuration options, and functions make me more than happy to "deal with" Touchwiz. I haven't liked Touchwiz since the Gingerbread days... The Note 3 looks to change that.
-Performance was beyond expectations. Super fluid and without lag. The experience was seamless and performance is blistering.
-There is no other device that competes with the Note 3 - The SPen and its functionality set the Note 3 apart from the pack. This is the only phone I would purchase at this point in time (for my needs).
-It's drop-dead sexy in white. Black has been done to death - mix it up!
I can't wait for mine to come in
I have the s4 and cant wait to play wit the N3 in a few days... ive been reading the the pros and cons threads and some of the ppl just complain about everything... I love TW just not all the bloatware that att puts on it but thats why we root it to change it all up to our liking...anyways thanks for the postive thread it will make my decision a lil easier
Thanks

Yeah, no kidding, the word premium is repeated over and over when referring to other devices and plastic when referring to the note 3, most of the other gripes are from people that didn't do any research, the back was never advertised as leather, I don't. Know what people were expecting, the sound quality of the speaker.? Seriously? They would have been griping about the bezel size if they put forward facing speakers.
Who would honestly think the back would be made from leather?? Dear me...
I've come from an HTC one (and galaxy nexus, moto razr i, S2 and Tab 7.7) and I'm really liking the Note 3.
Size wise, it''s hard to explain but it's small enough to still be a phone but the screen is large enough (and pixel dense enough) to use as a bridge device. I wanted something that could replace using a PC/laptop for most things (I will always use a PC/laptop for work though) and this seems to be doing it for me.
Speed wise, it's as fast and as smooth as anything I have ever used. I'm not a touchwiz fan so I am using nova launcher but I will admit that touchwiz is very smooth and quick, I just don't like the grid size and icons. The home screen is smooth, apps open pretty much instantly and it seems happy to play any type of media format you throw at it.
I am an AMOLED whore so I love the screen, it's all about the true black for me. I really liked the HTC one screen so it's nice to have an AMOLED screen with a similar sharpness to that of the HTC. Icons and text look nice and smooth and images/video look incredible.
The pen has proven to be quite useful as I like to write down what parts/stuff that I need for work as I am working through things and I am less likely to misplace my note 3 than I am a post-it note.
I am happy with the battery cover as well. I am on my second device as the first had some dust or something in the screen and my replacement has a battery cover that is much softer feel than the first. Does it feel like leather? I think so, or does leather feel like soft touch plastic?
All in all, this is the best mobile device I have ever used and will probably result in the Tab 7.7 being retired.
The Note 3 is many things and will probably appeal to many people. For me a Smartphone is primarily a business productivity tool. This incarnation of the Note is better than all others. The S Pen is more precise for note taking, Action Memo is a great addition. The multi screen is now better because of the higher resolution and new copy and paste controls. The music playback on headphones is very good and probably better than the HTC One. Finally the large screen and speed make the device a joy to use. I don't mind the plastic body as I'll be using it mainly in the S View case, which itself adds to the usability of the Note 3.

What Color?
Hi, all. This week will be my first ever Samsung phone. I'm jumping ship from my HTC One S for something bigger. Don't get me wrong I have been extremely happy with my HTC phone. Camera has been it's best feature. My question is should I get the white or black Note 3? It appears with the amazing screen the black accentuates the screen better. Is that true? Thoughts?
Had started that the other day due to the typical trolling and I didn't want anyone to be pit off this awesome phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462220

That's because people are so used to fake leather now they don't bother saying it's fake/faux or pleather anymore. It bugs me enough that when I see a review or product recommendation saying leather I almost always take the time to look at the product description long enough to confirm that it isn't REAL leather.
I actually think the hard plastic leather-look material makes a device look tacky/cheap compared to the normal shiny plastic Samsung normally uses. I sorta prefer the grippy soft plastic on the back of my Nexus 10.
It's all fashion & marketing. Sometimes aluminum is in style, or glass, or leather, or plastic. Whatever we haven't been seeing a lot of lately, or whatever is used on the latest hot selling item.

I really like this phone visually & so pleased it has a raised edge for the screen protector. I always fit them.
I had the "serviceindex" issue which made it hard to use for the 1st 2 days.
The corrupt file causing it was a .pdf on my SD making my N3 really play up & freeze every 45 seconds while using the handset & thats certainly not "user caused" as it's a file that opened & worked perfectly safely on my N1 & N2.
Anyway after hours spent identifying the problem file & removing it I could enjoy all the amazing features of this superb phone.
I highly recommend it & think the Note 2 had a cheap look compared to these.

This is seriously the best phone I ever had. The note 1 and 2 were already good, but the note 3 excels for me.
Beautiful full hd screen, very useful extra functions for the s-pen, the ir-blaster, the 13mp cam, the stylish looks and feels (indeed a little bit more note 1 style), the speed, men what a phone! And because it's so fully featured out of the box I think I could live with NOT rooting the device to get the functionality line up with my requirements.
Just finished reading the Spec's on this thing and it looks like the perfect tablet I've been waiting for. I wish Samsung would pick up their skirt and get dirty on the galaxy tabs but until they do I'm seriously considering picking up this guy. What are your impressions on this tablet and do you think there will be community support for it. I don't want something I can't root.

I'm glad to see more 4x3 android tablets and am strongly considering the Slate 8 pro. I really don't like 16x10 for a tablet.
looks like you can buy one now. $329 isnt too bad, but it only has 1gb of ram. previews mentioned it would have 2gb i think

Yeah what we're they thinking with 1 gig?
my guess is it was to keep the price down. something tells me they'll probably have a slate 10 pro eventually. maybe they'll put 2gb in that one instead
Anyone buy this bad boy yet? It's available at B&h and now online at Best Buy too.
Does it come with multi-year out of the box?
I picked up the Acer Iconia A1 810 at Staples for $99 and I love the 4x3 ratio. It makes me think I need to buy the Slate 8 pro as a faster, higher resolution replacement.
I'm a bit worried about the 1 gig though, particularly since I want multi-user. What does android do when it's out of ram? Kill apps? Pop up errors?
Been keeping a keen eye on this one too since its announcement - pretty much the same reason as all the above posts.
15% off from the UK's HP website for Cyber Monday (today) was just enough incentive for me to hit the "buy" button... its still £237 after the discount - ouch!! >_<
I'll report back once it arrives if any one is interested?

I picked up a slate 8 pro and it seems they still have some bugs to work out.
1) I setup two users but Android hangs when I try to switch users.
2) I can't seem to type quickly without dropping a significant number of characters. At first I thought it was my mistakes but it happens far more than on my other tablets (Note 8 and Acer Iconia A1). It might be a periodic screen freeze issue? All I know it's that I can't type quickly and accurately at all. Blocks of characters end up missing.
3) It makes weird clicking noises. I believe it's the camera lens. I don't know if it's adjusting to light or what but it's super annoying.
I was hoping the Slate 8 pro would combine the pros of my two tablets: the 4x3 aspect ratio of the Acer and the higher screen quality of the Note 8. But at this point either of the other tablets is more pleasant to use. Hrmph.
I have until Jan 15th to return it to best buy. Maybe they'll have a fix worked out by then.
Another disappointment is that the scrolling in apps like Facebook is still choppy. I was hoping some new hardware and a better GPU would make it liquid smooth. Not even close. I guess it's Android or the app itself that sucks.
The volume rocker is a bad design and is quite inconvenient to use I could live with this though.
But fast typing is impossible. If this isn't fixed it's unusable.
EDIT: it looks like the typing was related to swiftkey. I'm not having the problem with thumb-keyboard.
My first post!
Hello all,
I currently own an asus tf300 tablet, which I bought last year in 2012. Now that I am a supporter of nvidia, I decided to buy a HP Slate 8 Pro for my sister as a xmas present because of the specs and tegra 4 of course.
I highly doubt she'll do a review, but hopefully (after she opens it) I can play around with it and share my impressions on it. I look forward to what you all think of the HP Slate 8 Pro!

I'm curious about the display - not the resolution, but the brightness.
I picked up one of the Gpad 8.3 tablets, and it was a terrible device for me because the screen was too dim to use outdoors. I saw a review in Laptop that pegged the gpad in the 275 or so lux range, where the Nexus 2013 and the Note 8 are both close to 500 lux.
If you dial the HP up to max brightness and hold it alongside the Note 8 at max brightness, how do they compare? I'm pretty interested in the HP, except that I haven't seen any discussion of how bright the screen really is.
Thanks!

It gets pretty darn bright. I'd say its as bright orbbrighter than the note 8.
how much can you pick these up for now?
I found that it is hard to use iPhone 6 with one hand. Especially when typing, I can't reach the left side to tap on a character easily when I use iPhone 6 with my right hand.
Do you think iPhone 6 is too large for one hand operating?
It's quite a large one. You are right. I think for small hands it is quite difficult and not very useful. But I never do one hand operating.
Yes it's a little too big
The screen isn't too large, but the phone certainly is. iBezels.
I as a woman with small hands can use my Note 3 with one hand, so watching blokes complain about not being able to do so is hilarious.
There's nothing wrong with a 5.5+" screen size. Those humongous iBezels, on the other hand....

Frankly I don't understand the in-betweener size 'phones' at all, it's too small to be a tablet too big to be a phone, why?
A phone is supposed to be easily held in your had, it should be able to fit in your pocket
I think the screen is a tad too big, but one hand works fine with reachability. i like big screen for movies
It's really not too bad, I think. I don't have experience with the iphone, but with the Note 2. I was hesitant to get it at first, almost bought the S3 over it. I'm glad I got the Note 2 over it in the end. I have no issues fitting it in any of my pockets (mostly wear regular jeans). Any bigger than 5.5 inches would probably be too big though.
Maybe it is too much bigger. Still dissapointing that the next big thing from apple is just like that,
This phone is so damn good that I thought it deserved a thread for some love. The usual threads are popping up with all the complaints and things, but I am just... enamored with this phone so far. I love it WAY more than my Note 7 (and I was a huge Note 5 fan). My favorites things so far:
-Removable battery is so slick with that button to pop off the back cover!
-Software is really, really nice. Android 7 is amazing and the LG skin doesn't do much of anything to ruin it.
-Fingerprint scanner is blazing fast and accurate and the knock code to wake is great when device is on a flat surface.
-Screen is awesome. I don't care about what the numbers say about color accuracy - it looks phenomenal to my eyes.
-The second screen is something I use so much now that I'd have trouble leaving it. Handy, eye-catching, etc.
-The phone is stunning. I've had many people asking me what it is and commenting on how nice it looks. I'm running it with no case so far because I just can't bring myself to hide this thing.
-IR blaster: as much as I didn't care when I didn't have one, I really love having it now!
-Manual mode on camera: the adjustments you can make to shutter speed and things are awesome, especially since you can see the affect it has live on your screen. I'm learning more about manual photography this way!
-Battery life is incredible. It helps that I was on the V10 for a couple week and that was abysmal, but I think it's been about on par with the Note 7 for me so far.
-Memory card slot with the 256GB card (Thanks, Samsung!).
-Stock launcher is actually usable... I've been a Nova Prime user for years and now I don't think I need it.
-Audio: WOW! My Westone 3's are getting used to their full potential finally. The Note 7 just didn't cut it. Volume is high and powerful, and the audio quality is amazing.
What are you guys' favorite features? Use this thread to generally just bask in the awesomeness of this phone. For me, it's easily the best of 2016 (ESPECIALLY for $672 through Verizon!).
My only complaint is this:
WTH is the stylus?
They see fit to put one on a low-mid range phone, but, omit it from their flagship device?
Seriously, WTH makes these decisions, SMH........
This phone is awesome, but, moves like this just proves once again that the corporate think tanks are tone deaf/have their heads firmly positioned in their backside........
They've kept the removable battery, expandable storage, I-R Blaster, why stop there?
They should up the ante & include a stylus, the timing couldn't be better, perhaps next year.......

Valid point :good: So,I'll try to steer the thread back, since I was the 1st one going the opposite direction:
I'm in agreement w/the OP,this is an all-around great phone.
I actually like LG's U/I,it has a lot of features anyone would like, this is the high points for me,just off the top of my head:
1) Double-Tap to Wake/Sleep
2) Customizable Navigation bar (How cool is that?)
3) Hide the Navigation Bar on a per-app basis
4) Removable Battery/I-R Blaster (Samsung, you're damn fools for leaving these behind)
5) 2nd Display,'nuff said..............
6) Display/Build Quality/Overall Performance are tops, equal or better than anything on the market today.
7) Camera is fast to focus & shoot, pix look great to me,others I've shared with say the same.
I like the second screen better than I did the Edge function on the Note 7. My battery life has been nothing short of phenomenal. I just spent over twenty minutes on the phone... wifi calling... and the battery dropped 1%. I like the bottom firing speaker over the back firing one on the Note, and for my ringing, worn out ears, the bluetooth audio is great. One day I'll have to plug in to check out the DAC.

You can supply your own stylus easy and cheaply. If you want note quality stylus, this phone probably would've been $50 more expensive to get a wacom digitizer. Or maybe more. I'm quite sure LG wouldn't get the economy of scale price on a wacom digitizer or similar to get a similar feature set and experience on this phone. Just get a good high quality capacitive stylus. But I kind of agree. For how big this phone is, I wouldnt have minded a mm thicker at ALL! make room for a stylus similar to note, get rid of the camera hump and some of the paranoia about breaking camera protective lens, and probably a couple hundred extra milliamps on the battery. That easily would've justified the phone's asking price minus the $200 promotion and free bang and Olufsen earphones. With the promotions I bought this going in thinking it would make and excellent portable camera, audio recorder for special events and the DAC is much much better than I thought. So would've been a nice mini tablet with top of the line features to keep in backpack or car. And the features I just mentioned are extra special because of the swappable battery. Adds longevity for the auxiliary uses besides a phone. I'm still up in the air about who wins as the daily driver because the screen is awful at ~9000k. I figured out a way to help is to leave comfort view on low or medium. Quite sure the Kelvin is closer to 6500k. This phone is friggin' awesome though. It's going to be a tough decision. I just took my note4 apart and fixed the GPS issues that plagues so many users. Was actually easy. Plus the note4 has the much preferred AMOLED display not to mention it looks accurate and the camera is still hella good. And can't forget the s-pen. But the V20 blows it out of the water with the loudspeaker, ESS Sabre 9218 DAC coupled with headphones. Kind of glad I'm ha I g this problem. I love the note4 but LG unexpectedly blew me away with the sum of the parts, and some of the parts are top of the line which can't be ignored. Note4 has custom recovery and root also. That's a plus for the note4 also. But if and when the V20 gets root, I have a feeling the V20 will tip the scales with root privileges. Touchwiz has to be xposed to death to get it the way I like it, a couple of other custom touches I added on my own, fingerprint unusable on note4 with case and LG UI isn't all that bad. Much better than all previous phones I've played with. But yeah. Thanks LG. THE V30 needs top tier binned AMOLEDS, wacom digitizer with stylus, keep the same DAC, no camera hump and don't mind an extra mm or two for that, bigger battery. I mean c'mon. This has to be the biggest 5.7" phone out there. What's a couple mm extra thickness to make Samsung and the note series have BETTER competition? And think about it guys. How much extra SOT we would've got with the theming, of which we can pick black themes and this monster probably could've pulled close to 10h SOT on the best of days and probably 6h minimum on the worst. Keep it up and keep adding features. And a damn led. Or make the second screen amoled with option to make a digital notification light.
Just picked up at my local T-Mobile, they only got one and the girl who worked there was pissed that I called to reserve it lol. Quick history on my phones: LG G3, G4, V10, Nexus 6p when my V10 got the boot loop of death.
This V20 is crazy fast and buttery smooth! I'm stunned at the difference to the V10 and it's on par with a new (not loaded up) 6p. Screen is great, 2nd screen is so much better this time around! I'm actually using the stock launcher! I've never used one (Nova) but it's really good!
Overall, it's really a major improvement!
Did anyone else kickstart this laptop shell? https://www.sentio.com/
I sorely missed my Atrix and its lapdock, so this naturally caught my eye. Best thing is that it's not make/ model specific!
Looks good. Basically a battery and keyboard with trackpad, really. Although I'd even more, like to have a slider case. I would pay hundreds for a good slider qerty case for Note 4. In fact I was thinking, i HATE onscreen soft keyboard and would miss my back ahd home button on a Note 8 if it's like the S8. But, a case like this would fix it! And screen would be big! Although the Flip Cover is also sweet. I still don't get why many are obsessed with getting rid of tactile buttons. Just for me, personally... Haptic is no replacement, Swype is actually kinda disappointing and I find its prediction crap. I miss my Droid 2 keyboard.
That said, if this is good quality I might buy. I never heard of Sentio but I will try it tomorrow with my phone and an office keyboard.
I was always fascinated with Padfone too as can be imagined. This seems like a better option since it can work with any phone.

I didn't get involved, but I did see the kickstarter. It looks cool.
Also did you see this, I almost got in on the kickstarter but didn't. This looks really interesting. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-nougat-powered-all-in-one-device/description

I did see that. I've messed around with Remix OS in a VM a few times. It's an interesting concept.
I want to buy it I Germany because I replaced my laptop with the mobile.
But the docking station without yet another data storage is very nice. No worries about compatibility, moving downloaded files from a to b, no chatting on different platforms and android simply is a neat platform. And it is always with me.
Just happened to Google when I saw this lapdock as I'm selling my atrix one. Found this thread. Thought I would link you guys to this...

Slide out keyboard moto mod. Have the Z Play and am looking forward to giving this a spin. I used to do so much more actual work on my phone when I had my Epic. Was all set to Preordered the Z2 Force to and relegate my Z Play to backup, but they shrunk the **** out of the battery from 3500 to 2730 mAh because they had to make a 7mm thin phone even hinder for some God awful reason. Why a day is some benchmark for battery life is beyond me. Give me two days, then you can make a phone needlessly thinner so you have bragging rights. Funny how some companies even made their new flagship slightly thicker this time around. But not Moto.
