I'm in the market for a tablet but am uncertain of which one of the 2 I should get. What do you guys think?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Galaxy tab is the better of the two but i would really recommend you spending the (maybe) extra $100 and getting a Transformer Prime, it's the thinnest and most powerful tablet of the market
xoom, but wait til xoom 2 comes out, it will be amazing!
Looking at the transformer right now...
When is the xoom 2 coming out?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Xoom 2 is already out. It's called the Motorola Droid Xyboard in the US, and the Xoom 2 everywhere else in the world. The Xoom 2 is NOT a Google Experience device like the original Xoom was. It's full of Motorola and Verizon bloatware and I believe it has a few UI customizations too. It's not stock Honeycomb.
If having a Google Experience device matters to you (meaning having all the latest updates and using Android in vanilla form as Google made it), then get a Xoom. If that doesn't matter as much to you, then get a Galaxy Tab or an Asus Transformer Prime.
I personally have a 4G LTE Xoom and love it.
That's actually very good information... thanks for that...

Depends, When your being attacked by a man for what ever reason, which tablet would you think will be able to knock him out and still be usable?
Durability is my #1 requirement when buying a tablet.
The Xoom is only a Google experience device if it is sold in the states otherwise it's a tablet that's a few versions behind.
The transformer, while not a google experience device it is really quick on updates like it gets them within a month-ish of being released. That may not seem fast but it has consistently been the most quickly updated tablet and the only skin on it is changing the look of the buttons on the device.
Vote for Galaxy tab

Anyone test out both? Isn't the Xoom a bit on the heavy side? And I've heard that the gt feels cheap...

I asked myself the same question before getting the Xoom

+1 for the Galaxy Tab. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. The only downfall that I can point out is: 1) No USB port, 2) No external memory.
But hey, if you have dropbox, or a wifi connection, USB isn't needed. And just make sure you get enough internal memory to last you.
+1 for the Galaxy Tab.
Compare the specs and hardware of the Xoom against the Acer Iconia , more bang for the buck with Acer, and you can find them for $250 ish
I like how the movies play more in a wide screen format compared to the Ipad and Xoom...and XDA does have pretty robust forum.
The Iconia does beat the rest on port selection; its left edge is home to a 3.5mm headphone jack and a mini-HDMI port, while the right side holds full-sized USB and Micro USB ports. Under the port cover on the top you'll find a MicroSD card slot, taped-over SIM card slot, a rather stiff volume rocker, and a rotation lock switch. The USB 2.0 port is certainty a bragging right for the Iconia,

Also, faced with the same question, my money went (today) on a Xoom. My wife's playing on it right now, while I post from my ancient dell latitude running Ubuntu. It's not even the latest ver of Ubuntu. What's up with that?
John
Xoom. I tried it in a local store yesterday and I loved the pure Google experience. I also tried the Xoom 2 but it had Motoblur including all the icons which made it look bad in my opinion. I'm the type of person who likes the pure Google experience. The Galaxy Tab is too similar to an iPad in my opinion and I don't like Touchwiz either.

The Galaxy tab is the best tablet
So I have the decision of getting either a nexus 7 tablet or a international version of the galaxy s3. I have 250 cash to buy the nexus 7, and for the galaxy s3 i would have to trade my galaxy nexus and $200 cash. Do you guys think I should keep my galaxy nexus and get the tablet, or should i trade my current phone + $200 for a galaxy s3? I do have a good laptop but its 15in so that's why I am undecided on what I should go for. Help me out guys!
IMO, get the s3 because you will get more joy out of it than a tablet and like you said, you have a good laptop so you don't need a tablet.
Sent from Failtrix.
I agree, go buy the S3, its a better choice.
Why would You want to have to carry with You 2 devices all the time (and the Tablet is not as small as a Phone is), when You can have one very good phone?
Take the S3 mate!
thanks for the input guy, i am leaning towards the s3
Buy the Galaxy S3 .

go for s3
Go for the phone, the tablet will just feel like a bigger version of your phone considering they'd both be running the same OS. Not much of a big leap in screen size a larger tablet would be better.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
i suggest you to buy a s3 if you like feautures on your hand ...but if you want the taste of jellybean immedietly go there....but i tell you will not use it as the way your gonna use your s3

I would keep my Nexus and buy a Tablet
for me... i will choose galaxy s3
S3 for sure
S3 because it can replace camera and handycam.Nexus 7 can't..
It looks like the S3 is the better choice, but the thing is there aren't many i9300's S3s in my area, mostly just AT&T versions. How do those two compare? Battery wise, speed, etc.
I've got both and I use them for very different things. So if you can afford it I'd recommend both of them.

what do you use your nexus 7 for? If i get it I think my main use for it would be reading digital comics and probably watching videos on my bed. Both which I do pretty often.

That's pretty much it. Which is why I'll upgrade the Nexus 7 to the ten inch when it comes out, most likely. Comics don't play well on the SGS3, nor do subtitled movies. Oh, and 3D games seem to work better on the Nexus 7 than on the phone.
Galaxy S3
Galaxy s3 for me way better. if you get it try to rooted and get you a great pimped custom rom for it and enjoy it :highfive:
Hope you decided
I'm starting to get bored with my tablet, been thinking of getting a real small normal phone like the nexus,
Anyone also feeling the inconvenience of having a tablet phone?
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
Ditto here.I am eyeing at the HTC One V for normal android use.And my P6200 can be used for when the single core processor of the One is not enough and for surfing the interwebz when iam at home.
though i don't really use my P6200 as my main phone i use it more for 3G connectivity when i'm out..
I kinda miss my HTC wildfire S when i don't want to carry my tab around..
I would surely miss my long batt life with p6200 though
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
Does the Sony SmartWatch work with our tab? Specifically the 6200. I want to interact with it sometimes with just the watch, e.g. Tab on the bag and etc. I think it's fun. Lol.
I would miss my new tab. Sold a iPod Touch for this little bad boy. Love it so far, but I am only using it for simple tasks.
Facebook, iHeartRadiom, Skype and Angry Birds LOL
I have been researching and I don't think there is an android phone with the smoothness , batt life , GPU speed etc that can compare with our tablet,
Except HTC one, but still it fails in batt life.
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
Yeah I do leave my tab at home nowadays, too lazy to carry it along everytime I go out. I just usually bring my Blackberry when I go out for simple stuff. I wouldn't ever want to sell this tab to replace it with an android phone. Though there are quad core phones and all, I still don't feel the satisfaction of playing games or surfing the web on a smaller screen. Also, I use my tab to type documents for work, which would be quite a hassle doing on a phone. Overall, I think someday I might buy myself an android phone again replacing my old Galaxy Ace that I sold to buy this tab, but I'll never sell this tab. It never hurts having a lot of devices right?

I got rid of my cell phone and ever since i got the tab i decided there was really no need for any type of android phone.... I have been getting bored with it and dont use it as much but i use it everyday for free texting wifi and alarms notes for class and internet surfing. . I personally wouldnt get a phone because you wilo miss your tablet most definitly

yup, im currently looking for a small android phone like a galaxy y or LG L3 to complement with my tab.. i think its a perfect pair..

I have the Nexus as well, it's really far too big for my hands. I can't text with one hand,
Personally I'd like something the size of the Wildfire with all the goodness of the Nexus.

Well, as the title reads, which phone should I get next? My AT&T contract will be fulfilled in the next couple of months so, I've been looking at available AT&T phones. I currently have an HTC Desire Z and I love the size of it - easy to put in and take out of my jeans pocket. Most of the new phones I see are so big they should come with a back pack for them. Can anyone recommend a late model, fast phone that isn't as huge as the HTC One X and Samsung G3? And, please don't say "Iphone".
No offence but they don't sell those phones without camera anymore welcome to 2012 almost 13 everything is big now TV's cellphones etc

I think ~5" is the perfect size for a smartphone - big enough screen to see things and enjoy it, but small enough to still use effectively with one hand.
Honestly, I remember the first cell-phone I ever used and it was WAY bigger.
If you do want something smaller, though - I don't know, I'd probably look at international phones that would work with ATT, or just go into an ATT store or such and look around. The Galaxy S3 Mini is smaller, but I don't know how well it will work on ATT and what you could expect (it lacks LTE, I've heard). It also depends on the performance you're expecting.
have you considered one of those quality Chinese android handsets ?
things like the Newman N1, GooPhone, ZTE V970 etc ?
I think you should go with Galaxy S3. I am also using this phone last some months it's a superb mobile phone bacase it has 4.8 inch Superb Super AMOLED display with saturated colors and high contrast with 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and HD video recording, 4.0 android operating system, Quad-core 1.4 GHz Processor and 2050 mAh battery capacity. You can read full details here:
themobileindian.com/handset-guide/details/Samsung-Galaxy-SIII
Thanks for all the replies! I do plan to look around the AT&T store but sometimes its a little overwhelming when I start diving into the specs for every phone.
I was not aware of the "quality" made chinese phones; I may look into that.
Thanks again for the help and if there are anymore recommendations please, keep them coming.

If i could afford one i would get one.

Getting my kid a new phone for Christmas (she has my old Droid X). Was contemplating an IPhone, soley because of the incredible speech-to-text features (something my Bionic is woefully poor at) Sales dude at Verizon showed me what a Samsung can do in that realm....was utterly impressed....no diference from the 'Sirry' IPhone thing (apparently it hinges on a google service)
what's your budget? Desire z is mid range so if your budget is about the same then look at Galaxy S2.
Budget will be determined by AT&T having a phone I will settle with on a contract extension so, I guess my budget will be $200~300.

Best phone on the market at the minute (*arguably*) is the ASUS Padfone 2.. but sadly it isn't available in the US (no US release date mentioned yet either).. so would probably say the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be a contender..
I'm not really looking at the IPhone 5 but will the IPhone 5 sync with my google contacts and google calendar? That's one thing I really like about the android phones. From my research the iphone 5 can be made to sync with all my google stuff but how effective/accurate is it? Are there any bugs or issues with this?

I just took the Huawei U8836d shine and i'm very happy with it. Changed the stock rom to custom and has great battery life than other chinese brands. Great design. gorilla glass and sturdy materials plus very thin and comfortable. Check it out.
I recommend Samsung Galaxy Note II , it's really amazing phone very fast , smooth and got the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Galaxy Ace for your Preffered Size
I would Suggest to go for Samsung Galaxy Ace or You can Opt for Huawei Ascend.
I will suggest you to don't go for small screen size as 2013 will be the Year of Big Screens so if you are willing then go for Note II you will love it and Also will get use to its Big Size.
Regards,
Tamour
