[Q] Please list JB Changes/Problems. Thanks! - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK Guys!
I think it's time that those with the Jelly bean update let us know what's new, what's not and any problems they have experienced. I think everyone here would appreciate that - I know I would!
Thanks a million.
M

that what i observed. hope it helps.
1. blocking mode - blocking incoming calls and notifications based on time; have white list
2. refined lockscreen: has dual clock; stocks/ Yahoo news/ fb ; shortcuts; water effect like s3
3. different clicking sounds
4. smoother.
5. media share (DNLA) not sure it's new.
6. vibration choices, and can customize your own one.

Just flashed the 4.1.2 rom. I in my case, I noticed that my ram stays 200mhz at least and no deepsleep
Faster battery drain than ics
No multiwindow as mentioned on rumors.
But nonetheless, there are a handful of useful features and modifications on the newer firmware. I like the ability to create shortcut/s in lockscreen
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app

For me it's mostly the same, except the tab is now much less responsive.. Switching apps and doing heavy operations is slower now. Strange..
Sent from my GT-P6800 using Tapatalk 2

The Bugs from my point of view:
1.Facebook Font is too small.
2. The notification menu transition is very bad, it's down and suddenly it's up, no gradient transition, and it might take time to show up.
3. No music widget on the Lock Screen
4. if you enabled the rotation and left the tablet locked for a while, when you unlock it it always start in Landscape mode, not the same you left it.

*the good*
more responsive
better lock screen
home screen transition much faster
"remove all" button in recent apps
better keyboard
slightly better battery time
blocking mode
more customization options in Sound/Phone
smart stay (didn't work as good as it does not my brother's S4)
DLNA sharing
samsung cloud
50GB Dropbox (for 2 years)
*the bad*
no swipe keyboard
no tabs in Phone app (hate to do an extra tap to get to log, contacts etc.)
funny notification animation
useless "No notifications"
notification shortcuts still not customizable
no improvement in camera response
text not as crisp as it was in 4.0.4

Somebody, who already flashed the 4.1 firmware would be so kind and list here the available languages?
I'm interested in having 'Magyar' (Hungarian) but other forum mates may wish to know about their respective languages too.
Thanks a lot!

The currently available firmware is for South-East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.). It has the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, English (Philippines), English (UK), English (US), Tieng Viet, Tamil (?), Korean and Chinese (simplified).

Pros:
-Fixed the Gyro sensor on some games (MCombat series) where the gsensor locked in 'portrait mode' from prevuos HC and ICS
-Faster GPS lock compared to HC and ICS
-silightly better UI, gave us the 'new feel'
Cons:
-lost the 'alarm' inside the digital clock, you have to go to alarms app directly
-lost the task manager shortcut (replaced by active apps which takes more screen realty)
-lost maps (can be downloaded easily)

(accidentally posted here)

Thanks for the info!
I think I'd rather wait for the next release, hopefully it'll be for the European region...

So far, in no particular order:
- Non-expandable notifications (WTF?!)
- The UI feels much faster
- Battery seems to work better (still too early to count on it)
- Dropbox promised me +50GB of space, but didn't get it (maybe because I got +50GB from my S3, and +50GB extra from the S3 4.2.1 leak)
- Ongoing notification for Blocking Mode
- When the setting is active, the SmartStay icon stays on the notification area all the time, unlike on the S3 where it appears only when the camera is actually on and looking for you.

I don't see any improvements really, wish I didn't bother to upgrade. Now I have more bugs. Buggy Widgets. Skype microphone problems with using headphone output to speakers. Slightly smoother but then it seems to have more slowdowns I think. Ics is more stable imo

Here is what I am noticing.
1) No email notifications. Emails aren't updating either. I have to manually "push" for the updates on all 3 email accounts using the stock email apps. fixed!
2) Background turns black for a brief second when exciting the dolphin browser after at least 5 minutes of use. When surfing the web for more than 5 minutes, and exciting the browser, the live wallpaper turns black for some reason. Like it flickers.
3) S-Voice (from Galaxy S4) can be installed with no problem. But I get a network connection error. I hear you have to mod the app to add "gt-p6800" somewhere so that the server can recognize the device.

my deep sleep problem with jb was solved: what i did is i wiped everything; dalvik, restore factory, cache and had a clean install. So far everytying seems fine .
For those considering the rom upgrade, i suggest you do a clean install not just an update

I installed the rom version (most probably indonesian ) linked by edan by mobile odin pro injected root. wipe cache, dalvik . Now having no problem atall. It's must faster than ICS. Battery is holding up longer too.

My biggest problem is freeze/crash while playing music to bluetooth headset (apt-x capable).

I love the responsiveness and the fluid movement from app to app. And yeah, you need to install SuperUser. You should probably add it to the ROM in the next release, since it's one of the most widely used app. You don't have to though if you prefer not to. Just let people know.
next update ill be sure to add it

hey guys.. any of yaw mac users? i downloaded the file but it is placed in my download folder as a "folder" and not a .zip. tried downloading twice with same result. anywhoo i tried even placing the folder on my sd card to try to install but 4ext (most recent) doesn't see it. can yaw assist without my needs hijacking this thread? thanks
I loaded it on my Inspire and it Look(ed) really nice runs pretty good so far but the character set changed from English. How do i change it back to English? I cant read the language. How do i remove the Chinese letters and go back to english for good.
Rom looks very slick and gorgeous, I like it. Yes, it still need more polish with the language dictionary and UI. I will keep this one for at least a week to see how will manage battery consumption and signal.

Yes, the keyboard has some chinese text and there is also chinese text in other parts of the settings.
Looks really nice. Will report back after some more use.
Is there a way to remove the green battery icon on the top left?
Sent from a dream.
There is chinese text in allot of place. In the setting where you set data limit. The keyboard. Also sometime the predictive text comes up with chinese letters.
OK thanks for the feedback will work on when I get home and I saw that there is a new update for the rom will work on it
OK for keyboard go to settings ' lauguage and keyboard setting Google Pinyin and toggle Chinese prediction off and I'll look into settings in a little while
For the green battery icon just go into skakes battery booster and go into settings and toggle notification off
Just noting a few bugs I've found.
-in settings, system, cpu overclock, available cpufreq governors it will stay checked for interactive even when changing it. Sometimes there wouldn't be a checkmark showing. But when you check the cpu info it will show whatever was changed.
-in notification settings it's all in chinese characters.
-with the pull down menu/notifications or whatever it's called, under switch, flash light doesn't work. If you long press it it fc's the whatever you call the pull down thing.
-downloaded the update for the dx battery boost but it will not install.
-when choosing the motorola or mooke theme, it changes but then fc's right after clicking the menu button. Did not try the ics theme.
If anyone needs the htc ime keyboard here you go. This is the black one. Works quite well. Let me know if you want the white one.

Edit: is there a way to improve the wifi? Seems to be weak with slow download speeds.
Love the rom, gonna keep this one. Keep up the good work.

[ROM][PORT]Lezo OS & Mr.Ding-P999

Lezo OS
Hello everyone.
This is a port of the P990 Lezo OS a CM based rom. I am not a developer, just someone who was lucky enough to have this work It's just another piece of a so called "Crack Flashing Series". There are plenty of roms provided to our community, and this also brings people with different likes and dislikes. I aim only to share some of the other roms out there with the community. Maybe you want to try something out inbetween updates from your favorite rom, well, try this.
None of this would out be possible without the help of guides from dubntz and blindndumb. If you like any of the ports thank them as well.
I try to test each rom to ensure stability and luckily they've been great.

Almost every other Chinese OS looks like some ripoff of MIUI /CM7. I wasn't going to post this build solely because that it reminded me of Shendu, Lewa, and others. But its hella smooth and stable. Plus they update weekly.

Unfortunately some negatives. The battery just shows a ? And my home button doesn't work. Total deal breaker for now. Went back to Temasek's cm7 kang for now. I will be looking forward to updates. Especially if you can get the Chinese translated.

New TF300T owner with some questions

Info: I'm running Android 4.1.1 (10.4.2.9) unlocked/rooted with a clean reinstall of the official ROM.
Hi everyone. I've had my tablet for less than a week now, and while I like it, I have some concerns.
It was an open box model (I only paid 295 usd for the 32gb version) and it acts kind of quirky. When I get a new mail notification through the gmail app, it shows the full contact picture on the left hand side of the popup, and a slice out of the middle of the contact picture on the right. It also won't show certain images in google reader (tried both the official app and gReader) until I change orientation or reload the feed.
Those two just sound like rom/app quirks, but what really worries me is that the tablet lags quite frequently (choppy framerate and delayed actions). The overall performance just doesn't seem up to par for the hardware. I'll have random 1-2 second lock ups (OS wide). Double taps on the keyboard from time to time (stock keyboard and thumb keyboard 4). Movies have frequent skips (default player).
Anyway, I'm just posting to see if it sounds like I need to return the tablet or does this just come with the territory? I apologize for my ignorance, but this is my first tablet and first experience with anything above Android 2.3.7

[Q] Reasons to use ICS or JB instead of GB in my i9003?

Hi,
I wanted to know if there are reasons of why we should try IceCreamSandwich or JellyBean roms for daily usage that still have bugs, other than keep with Gingerbread, and in my case, Frankenstein´s rom.
What I really want to know are if ICS and JB have some benefits, or we just want to use them because they are new.
I only have my SL phone, and that´s the reason I don´t want to start flashing lots of roms again... just want one that works well and in which battery lasts reasonable time.
My normal daily use is:
· 1 hour speak
· mostly 2g or wifi connection. Almost no navigation.
· lot of whatsapp
· 30 min average of bluetooth
· sometimes some gps
With this use, my battery lasts aproximately 2 days.
I don´t play games, I don´t watch movies... I just use it as a regular mobile + whatsapp, gps, adidas micoach, jefit, and small apps.
I think it would be good to receive some advice of those who tried different roms.
Thanks for your time, and hope this thread is useful to solve other questions also.
The reason is that people get bored of same old UI.
So we try ICS and JB.
They do support UI flexibility.
Also performance of phone increases in games[That's not for you]
And They also support more number of apps than GB.
But be sure that you won't get same battery backup though.
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
some apps dont work on GB (google chrome, google now, etc..), thats why i switched to JB...
battery wise, mine last a day (using an internet simcard and switched to 2g), used only for updates, whatsapp and viber...
if you were to switch to a custom rom, i would suggest you use jellybam...
But jelly bean and ICS have lower autonomie than GB
About 1 or 2 day

Hi there.
I m currently using Frankenstein Mod (v 3.8) and i want to go for some JB or ICS mod which should be at least equal to Frankenstein in terms of Performance. Please .. and i want a fully functional Keyboard, To play 'Agent Dash', possibly error free GPS and full whatsapp.
Any good suggestion will be appreciated. And i have REMICS-JB in my mind!! what say

That's the risk to use JB or ICS, but if you use Jelly Bam the recommend version + Revolution Kernel = your phone live about 1,5 day or 2 day (I'm on Jelly Bam)
Of course, your phone still need some setting in the performance menu, suggested governor: SmartassV.2 with min speed 300 and max speed 1000 or 1200. That should give you no lag but battery saving phone. If you think your phone taking too much power, use CPU Spy, you can found it on Play Store

Thanks for your time, and hope this thread is useful to solve other questions also.

According to this, there's no reason to go for ICS or JB (Plus, these are NOT totally stable/reliable/functional).
Stick to good GB kernel/roms.

Well..
I tried to install CM10 Alpha 4 with no success. I don´t know if it is some trouble with my modem (I´m from Argentina), or what, but I tried 4 times to install it and couldn´t make it work fine.
Now I´m on CM9 Alpha 14, with Alpha´s 11 Kernel.
I like it, but I find it a little bit laggy.
Is this just a characteristic from ICS in our phone?
Any other Kernel to recommend?
Now that I´ve tried ICS and JB, I can say that a big difference I find is the way some shortcuts work.
For example, when you pull down the notifications menu, you can access the setting from there, and in JB, you can go to alarms or calendar.
Also I like the new recent apps.
What has to do with the design, I find ICS and JB really pretty. Spaces between things in menus, and other stuff look very well.

Hi,
I wanted to know if there are reasons of why we should try IceCreamSandwich or JellyBean roms for daily usage that still have bugs, other than keep with Gingerbread, and in my case, Frankenstein´s rom.

Defntly for daily usage i strongly recommend GB over ics/jb.. The main issue with later 2 os is battery. I m nt getting even half day with moderate usage..(at present i m using REMICS 1.7) bt still m using it bcs it is more user friendly, support more apps finally, atleast to my frnds i can say "i m running more advanced os than u"
Some user have good battery life with jelly bean (2 days) !!!

For me, I use Jb instead of Gb because:
-Video call with Gtalk. No Gtalk vid call on Gb.
-Beautiful UI. The spaces, the consistency of usage of colours, the fresh new look of android.
-Built in Data Monitor. I can track my data usage and warning if almost reach limit.
-Expandable volume control(we can set media volume, ring volume and alarm volume just by pressing the button)
-Great keyboard.
-more apps supported.(apex launcher, some games, Chrome, stuff)
-settings button accessible in notification
-Swipeable notification (I like this because i can keep my text message to be read later while deleting other notification)
-Quick reply text messages using button on notification area without opening the messaging app.
-Google Now cards. It shows stuff without having to search for it.
-Very organized system settings.
-Different Widget displayed.(eg. Google+ widget in GB is a text bar to post new statuses. In JB, it shows people from our circle's posts.)
-Fast stock browser. (Updated html support)
-Can save web page for offline reading.
-can place shortcuts on lockscreen.
-apps on the market had given guidelines on the app layout.(not making apps that looks like iPhones and Windows phone apps)
-No pre-installed bloatwares.
-Can show to s2 users that I already have JB while they still ICS
Benefits of Gb over Jb(at this time):
-Tethering (tethering in cm10 is not yet possible)
-Have FM Radio in stock rom. Good to hear free music when bored.
-Have UMTS Video Call in stock rom. Can Video call using carrier charges(its the same price as voice call in my country. Very good to have)
-Can create folders INSIDE the app drawer.(value packs only)
-Good battery usage.
I would prefer JB more because I could use my phone more effectively. About the lag, I used the performance tweak and the Project Butter enchanter mods by Top Droid and the lag is gone!

amifiq which rom are you using & how good is the battery backup?
Im using cm10a3. Usually it last like a day if i use it like sms, whatsapp, calls. But if you want good battry life, use gb. Cm10 isnt stable yet so have not as good battery as stock.

As rightly pointed out by amifiq in earlier post
My views will be similar to what he said.
But to be frank Battery lasts only for a day at the most.
leaving it I would rather prefer the JB instead of GB.
Above all it is the firmware created by our devs.
That is more important to go for JB.
My SL is currently at -->
Jelly Bam v.4.0
SIRI KERNEL rc2
Performance Tweaks - Version 1.4.1
issues found as below ,
1.whatsapp
-heavy lag at times while switching from other apps (5sec delay)
-hang / or black screen when using camera , have to remove battery and reboot
- force close
2. MX video player
- phone reboot after watching 25 mins
3. copying files in debugging mode connected to pc
- become slower in day 2 and 3
attached is the catlog when i experience reboot while on MX player
sorry i have to put it here because my post is still less than 10

[APPS][NO ROOT] SmartisanOS Launcher, Clock, Calculator, and Notes!

Hey everyone, I'm back again with more ported apps.
This time it's from the all new Chinese ROM 'SmartisanOS' for the Galaxy S3. If you have a Galaxy S3, I'd recommend checking out the ROM itself rather than using these apps, as you'll get a better experience that way.
If you haven't heard of SmartisanOS, firstly you should know it's not an entirely new OS, it's more like a UI skin like Sense and Touchwiz. It's based off Android, but isn't a fork of it like AliyunOS or anything. The creators very heavily focused on user experience, in attempts to make the UI very attractive and easy to use. The UI is very, very skeuomorphic. All applications tested ran buttery smooth.
Note that this ROM is in pre-alpha (it was only just officially released to the public on the 15th) so it's got a few bugs, even on the phone it officially supports, the Galaxy S3. Additionally, not all applications have full English support, so certain parts of them will be in Chinese.
As always, if you'd like anything from the ROM to be uploaded, just ask and I'll see what I can do.
Here's a video review (in English) of SmartisanOS by Cursed4Eva TV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aRUZwJXlHA
Smartisan Launcher:
The launcher is very, very similar in concept to the iOS homescreen. It's just a grid of apps that you can move around, and essentially you're limited to just that. There's not hardly any customization here, but then again that can be a good thing if you think about it. Unfortunately, lack of customization takes a pretty big hit - for example, you can't change the wallpaper. For some very odd reason, this launcher requires a loading screen whenever it boots up, similar to other 3D launchers like Next Launcher and TSF Shell (but this launcher isn't 3D).
Features -
- Up to four icons on the dock
- Custom transition effects for opening apps and general inteface
- Batch app movement support
- Unlimited homescreens
- Hide homescreen support
- Lock homescreen support (crashes for me, however)
- Gorgeous UI
- Drag-to-uninstall support

Clock
This is a truly gorgeous clock app. Note that this, along with the other apps, don't give widgets. This clock is filled to the brim with fancy animations, sound effects, and special features, like a world clock, alarm, stopwatch, and timer.
Features -
- World clocks (system time set as default; you can add more but the clocks are only available in Chinese)
- Alarm clock
- Stopwatch (with lap support)
- Timer (up to 60 minutes)
- Fancy animations for all sections of the app. For example, whenever you switch tabs the clocks will reanimate into position.
- Fancy sound effects for most sections of the app. For example, turning on the timer will make a ticking sound. The ticking sound stops when you leave the application, though (and the timer still continues), so it won't be annoying or anything.
- Gorgeous UI

Notes
This is a pretty basic Notes app but just like all the other SmartisanOS apps is really nice looking, but unfortunately (for me, anyway, this might not happen on your phone) the app didn't fit the screen. This app also has integrated sharing support.
Features -
- Swipe to delete support
- Search support
- Sharing support via SMS, email, text, and Sina Weibo
- Gorgeous UI
Notes download link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3lIkuqWWrmqdW40bGJFN25HZVk/edit?usp=sharing
Pictures:
Calculator
This is a very simple calculator without support, unfortunately, for more advanced calculations like the stock Android calculator. It's based off old basic calculators, and even has that click-and-clack sound to boot whenever you tap the buttons!
Features -
- Sound effects whenever you click the buttons for a more realistic effect
- Gorgeous UI

Hope you all like these. :good: I'll be on the lookout for updates to SmartisanOS and I'll update this thread accordingly for new apps and other goodies.

Nice one ))
Launcher wouldn't open on my Note2. Clocked worked well though. It is a great looking click with just enough animation. Unfortunately the snooze/dismiss screen is too simple for me. Both buttons right next each other. Could easily attempt to snooze and hit dismiss instead. Wish it was a gesture like sliding to dismiss. Oh well. Still pretty cool. Thanks, man

The launcher opened on my HTC one but the dock icons wouldn't open when touched. Also the regular apps didn't always open. Some would open when touched at specific parts. Bit erratic for now on my one.

You could try pushing the launcher to system/app.

Yes, I had this problem with the little gear icon when in the zoomed-out view with all the icons. I had to click the gear just under where it was located. I presume this is either because:
1. The ROM itself is still in pre-alpha so the problem is for any phone, not just ones it wasn't intended for (meaning, then, that the Galaxy S3 has the same problem)
2. Wrong resolution and screen size is confusing the app.
Either way there isn't a easy fix to it, for now anyway.

No, sorry, I'm not a developer. It may be because you're not running the latest version of Android, as SmartisanOS is based on 4.2.

I have a question. I want to use the smartisan os rom on my s3 but there is a problem. I can't call or use the mobile Internet because there's no network connection. You know what's the problem?

You should ask that on the Smartisan OS forums or if there's a thread for Smartisan OS for your device you could ask it there maybe. This thread isn't for help with bugs in the ROM, sorry.
Ok thanks man

Re-upload!
Link down bro, any chance to reupload it? Btw, has anyone tried this on Moto X?
link not found. please re upload
Links dead
Why don't you download from the Smartisan web site: http://www.smartisan.com/apps/launcher ? The launcher works perfectly under Slim7 on bacon, for example.
