I have a huge problem. I was gonna flash a new Rom but I enter to wipe everything first including internal storage and external. So after backing up my internal and external storage in cwm recovery I went to the mounts and storage menu I formatted everything including modem & /data and /data/media (/access) and now my phonemes no sound, WiFi is not working at all, it won't even turn on and voice/data does not work at all. What did I do by wiping and formating those two options and Is there a way to fix this?
Can you boot into fastboot mode? Hold the volume down button, then press and hold the power button at the same time (it may take several seconds to do anything).
If so, you should be able to restore it with RSD Lite.

Hey guys, I flashed the mod located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692233&page=9
It mentioned that it would work on any Sense 4.0 Rom.
i'm running CleanROM 3.0 SE.
Since flashing, I'll get to the HTC boot logo, then the screen goes black. The backlight is on, and the softkeys vibrate when pressed, but the volume rocker doesn't work. The power button seems to turn the display on and off though.
I tried:
Wiping cache
Wiping dalvik
Fixing permissions
No luck.
Any ideas?
Can you get into recovery? It said to make a nandroid before flashing, i hope you did so you can restore.
Me being dumb, no I didn't make a nandroid backup. I got lost in the whole confidence thing.
I can access recovery though, it's all the screen will display other than the HTC logo.
I have a nandroid running now. I was thinking of making the backup, performing a factory reset, then installing TiBu and using the "Extract from Nandroid" function to get what I need out of it, unless you have any other ideas?
ADB isn't working for me, I read somewhere that CWM on the HOX had ADB working, so I can't do much on that end...
I used twrp. Mounted the sd to my pc. Then moved over a tomorrow and installed.
So delete the system and cache and dalvik cache and install the rom. Make sure you unmount the storage when you move the files

Heres my problem...
I don't have the CleanROM zip on my phone anymore. It left me with like 20mb of storage, so I had to get rid of it.
If I flashed twrp using fastboot, would it still allow me to access it and then mount USB?
Atter delete /data/linux because i wanted to delete archlinux. I can go to bootloader menu and recovery but it seem stay on slash Image. Anyway to fix it ?
NVM it took about 3 minutes to boot into recovery ?. So longer than normal
Just make a full wipe in Recovery and flash the stockrom again and everything should be fine.
Sometimes Stock wipes all the data on internal storage, so hope you got everything backuped.

Got it working again. No data on internal storage were lost
nice to hear that.
CWM recovery 6.0.1.0 was not actually wiping my partitions before I flashed new ROM's I found out recently after installing TWRP. Eventually (after a few ROM installs) my phone started bootlooping and hanging a lot, so I wiped everything in CWM and attempted another flash. Now the sdcard portion of the internal memory seems to be corrupted, and it won't mount or be written to when I flash (via fastboot or CWM).
Any tools you know of that can help me format or repartition the internal MMC so I can try to flash it again? Or at least get it back to stock form to turn it in to the Sprint store and see if they will help me. Maybe it is physically damaged, but I am leaning towards corrupted.
Sounds like a job for Odin.

Boot into recovery, make a backup, wipe data/cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe /system, choose to install zip in your recovery, find the syngeryrom zip and choose to flash it

In addition to this, make sure the rom is in the external sd card and that you have a custom recovery (twrp or cwm) installed before hand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439. Follow this guide and install TWRP, then use twrp to BACKUP TO YOUR EXTERNAL SD, wipe the cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, then install the rom.

Why si importantly do you back up to an external? What if you don't have one?

Because roms like to wipe the internal memory, which is why I don't use it.

The internal memory is wiped if you wipe internal memory, and only then...

From my experience, anything can go wrong when installing a rom, especially if you are inexperienced. I like to be extra careful and backup to external. Not everybody is as cautious as I, but not everybody has encountered as many dumb issues that I have.
Hmm maybe you accidentally chose to wipe SD card memory in twrp in the advanced wipe menu? I think that's the only way that could happen. Unless something just went majorly wrong while flashing

ok thanks for all your input really appreciated ,all i wanted to do was to increase my audio output to my bluetooth stereo headset ,I started researching that yesterday 3 hours later my phone was rooted and i was so confused with all the pages of different input i got a stomach ache lol still have not been able to boost volume yet cause default audio config file was not where they said it should be .Anyways would like to tweek phone nothing to serious so any help on what root i should go would be nice im just glad i did not brick it so hard part is over i think thanks to all for your help ...Tom
I was going nuts cause i could not boot into recovery on the video he goes thru it so fast when actually its different than booting into odin mode thats when i saw this ....
As soon as the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button but keep holding Volume Up + Home
When you see the "Samsung Galaxy S III" logo (not just the word "Samsung"), right after that, the next screen you should see is your recovery
Don't let go of Volume Up + Home until you see your recovery
that fixed my recovery boot issue thanks
For some reason, out of the blue, I cannot read/write//mount my internal storage. I installed an unofficial version of CarbonRom on my Verzion M8 and everything was PERFECT! I created a Nandroid Backup of the way I had my CarbonRom setup and installed CHECKM8's aosp kernel to see if it would boot. It did boot, but was crashing all over the place. So naturally I went back into recovery to just restore my backup and all my internal data was gone. I've tried many things and I haven't been able to get my data to mount again.
HELP! As my phone sits right now, its a brick.
Basically, how do I restore access/mountability of the /data?
I tried fastboot erase userdata but it can't mount the data to erase it.
Going to try flashing the stock RUU and see if that'll do it. Currently downloading.
This happened to me also and I flashed the RUU but even after that data still doesnt mount. Did you find a solution
I had the same thing happen to me and with multiple flashes it just fixed itself. I had some ROMs saved to ext SD which saved me.
