[ROM][BETA][19/05] Badwolf: The Chameleon Circuit [1.1.2][JBThemed][MultiDPI][DME1] - Galaxy Note II Android Development

Bad Wolf Entity
Hey everybody,
It brings me great pleasure, to introduce my new ROM.
Badwolf Entity
(Yes it is a reference to Doctor Who )
Now, i'm pretty damn sure that the majority of the people that click on this will be interested to know about the "[DOMINATION]" part of the title, well you will be pleased to know that after receiving permission from Vertumus (the mastermind behind this badboy) I have fully themed this ROM and set out on a journey of self discovery lol, having no real prior experience in java nor android development(Though i do have a background in graphics and theming, i have worked with Ramazor a couple times) it was a grueling task to create this ROM, but thanks to XDA and it's members. This ROM became a reality
The ROM is more or less completely Samsung, however there is a few AOSP apps that i prefer and as such they are installed instead (Clock, Calculator and MMS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Features
Jelly Bean Dominated
As i have said, i have permission from Vertumus to use assets from his amazing VRTheme Domination, All of the ROM is Jelly Bean themed.
Powered by the Perseus Kernel
I have used quite a lot of kernels in my time of owning a Note II, but AndreiLux really knows how to make a kernel. Coupled with this is STweak so that you can optimise to your hearts content.
Lightweight
Stripped of all the random junk Samsung places in XXDMC3 the ROM is only 508MB big, that's half the size of the original. Whilst retaining all the features we know and love.
MULTI DPI
Thanks to the amazin work of xperiacle we have true multi-tasking.
Xposed Framework
Everyone should know about the Xposed framework by now so i won't go into it, the included mods are App Settings for per app DPI and Alternate app picker, feel free to use as much or as little as you want.
Noozxoide EIZO-rewire
One of the best sound mods available.
Modded Samsung Keyboard
Auto-correct and user font.
Optimised Build.prop
Just a set of miscellaneous tweaks for better user-experience.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screenshots Updating soon.

This is a flashable ZIP which enable the weather function on the Default Samsung Lockscreen

1. Install using AROMA Installer
2. Follow onscreen instructions
If you would like to install ExtSD2Int Script, click no to reboot now, and flash the zip then reboot.
3. Reboot
4. Let it idle for a couple of seconds
5. Voila!
Simplistic Colours
AOSP Blue = #009dcd
IMPORTANT
It is advised that you install the xposed framework when you first boot up and activate the modules, otherwise you will get toast messages everytime you uninstall a app.

Looks nice ! .. I'm gonna try it as it releases.. I'll set it at 270 dpi anyways that's the dpi I prefer .. not too small, not too big

Thanks, whilst i'm positive everything will work fine at 320 DPI, 270 is an odd one, the dialer and phone apps are stock so they may not react well with such a change but Xposed is there for a reason.

Looks good. Will flash and give you some feedback !

Ha, thats an indirect compliment . This is a complete overhaul of the Touch Wiz framework, 98% AOSP-Style themed, the 2% being the WiFi and Phone signal bars, these require the Simplistic Control app to change, the app will also let you have the AOSP lock screen.

Awesome
This rom is awesome is blazing fast. and looking almost like ASOP. i love it. after tweaking the CPU and GPU voltage settings i was able to get a Quadrant score of 7981. wich is Rly good. also got a Geekbench for 2493 and a antuttu of 19000ish.

Pretty awsome , i'll flash and use redpill kernel and see if it can replace phoenix (at least for me)
one more question though , only 240 ? or tablet and phablet modes ? and can you please post a pic of home screen ?

The homescreen is only the default nova screen, i am working on multi-dpi, but with 4.2.2 around the corner and my lack of time to devote. its all up in the air at the moment.

Yup, the ROM is lightweight, whilst still retaining all the core features of Samsung, multi-windows, S Note etc.
For those that like the complete AOSP look with all apps aswell, i have decided to create an AROMA installer so you can choose either AOSP-Themed Samsung apps or their AOSP counterparts.
Battery Life screenshots will be up eventually, i just haven't got around to it, but i have had 12 hours streaming TuneIn Radio and only be at 48%

So far so good , bug while opening pics in gallery it force closed or phone reboots
also lockscreen weather fc's aswell .

Could i have a more detailed description about this bug with the gallery? I doesn't seem to bug out for me.
Yes the lockscreen will do that, this is due to me removing the weather deamon, and widget. Which don't work without TouchWiz Launcher anyway.
It was my intention that users of this ROM be running the AOSP locker, which can be enabled in the Simplistic Control App.
If you don't you can always download Holo Locker

the spen handwriting place is not proper
I have no fc or other problem in gallery..but the fc in weather on lockscreen option exist..you can not select this option..

JANUARY 6 -update:
Upon request of users I did Rom update
I respect each of you friends. So I did everything you asked.
But before we start here is interesting fact:
I also notice the hotter the phone get, the lower the FPS you will see.
During the maximum heating phone will lag. Once the processor has cooled down lag disappears.
whats new?
-Size is 544Mb.
-AbyssNote 2.8 kernel (test version, but stable, I waking all day and no hit, no lag, it's my favorite kernel know.)
-Reverted to mali driver from 2.6 (big respect for that)
-ARM: 6941/1: cache: ensure MVA is cacheline aligned in
Home key delay fix
-Allow CPU Aligned access
-Others little fix
- More Ram available. almost 599Mb on start up!!!!.
- Tweak add ""S98graphics"" (let me know if you like it scrolling)
- New browser apk, working like a Rolex watch (thank you LeoMar75!).
- Email apk changed (please let me know how it is !).
- Cyanogen battery % style with smooth charging animation. (color fixed).
- In menu list "no more lines" (now included in rom)
- Fixed build prop.
- Market also fixed (but I don't like it)
The result is very successful. I am proud.
- Im sorry, I would say a little rough, after my edit this rom got new name: "FuklagROMOW V5.1" It's TURBO FAST like Cyanogen.
Why ? check this out, it's stock 1.4Ghz (No SetCpu installed) :
Installation:
-Wipe everything, please everything !
-after manually wipe system.
-flash it.
Recommendation from "advanced" users:
-On first start-up wait untill everything is loaded. (check the free ram)
-Settings> About phone>Software update>clear all marks.
-Settings> Application>Samsung Apps> make it OFF.
-Settings> Motion> Motion activation> clear mark
-Settings> Display> Autoadjust screen power>make it OFF.
-If you using weather widget,>settings>auto scrolling> NONE.
-Sign In google account. (download quadroBench
-Restart the phone again.

February 3
Big changes friends.
-Base rom now is CheckROM V5 (my studies have shown that this is much smarter/clean and fast rom)
-Carefully examining and comparing buildprop from RocketROM and CheckROM I discovered many "interesting" things, so I made my own mixed build.prop.
-many Tweaks from RocketROM.
-Kernel is AbyssNote v3.4. Please don't ask me why. Because from the first second I feel the stability and "smooth scrolling"
-A lot of things taken from FukLag (first realize)
-Rom theme is so simply perfect. (I tried to remove all the colored crayons)
-Many other thing you will find in FukLag ROM, Im not talking about "speed and smoothest",which are the key performance indicators of FukLag ROM's
1.4Ghz (No SetCpu installed)
Installation:
-Wipe everything, please everything !
-after manually wipe system.
-after flash this "[SCRIPT] jBroid Kernel Cleaning" (I attached)
-Now flash the rom.

wallpapers you will find in "Gallery"
Recommendation from "advanced" users:

Guys I found that "ROMOW V5.1" using tweaks making rom lagg. Yes it is true.
So I edit the rom to my self.... where everything smooth and super fast.
-
Some bad tweaks removed (it's our opinions)- "S98bolt_siyah" "S98screenstate_scaling".
-completely fixed build.prop (now scrolling truly smooth, with out any interruptions!)
I also add for as
-ICS transaction.
-SnakeS custom font
The result is very successful.
-Firstable stable benchmark ! (Linpack 1.4Ghz 99-105 stably)
-We also noticed that phone heating decreased !!!
-Much better scrolling.

[APP][LAUNCHER] Nemus Launcher, Holy Grail < ICS/Jelly Bean Now Atom Launcher

New ICS/Jelly Bean Update: Now Atom Launcher new thread guess im just bumping this thread because it's no longer relevant which makes no sense i guess ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently discovered the best launcher for Android: Nemus Launcher. I didn't develop this launcher, I am just attempting to spread the word about this wonderful lightweight launcher. It is as fast as Zeam and as smooth as 360 Launcher in my opinion, but it offers 9 homescreens, scrollable widget support, and resizable widgets. It seems to get updated pretty often, but there isn't much info on the dev's site linked in the market. Its made by the same dev as Regina launcher (NemusTech, I think they are Korean).

- Easy App finding/management

Themes:
FishNChips Neon Blue (credit: sssingletrack, n4y4nrules, raverrr from Android @ MoDaCo)
More themes (a lot are paid, some are free) are available through the SSkin Theme Shop (the app is painfully slow for me)
Also, maybe this thread will stimulate some theme development. It uses SSKIN themes, which I learned a little bit about on their (Korean) site:

Wiki w/ Theme Sample and Guidelines
There is a sample theme on here that looks like it has a ICS look to it. I will check it out when I get a chance.
There are more themes in this thread, just search

Looks cool, I'll try it out.
Soo Nice, I will try it now
I love the launcher, but i was confuse about the theme in it. How can i get the theme? I try to instal sskin theme. But it have to instal another launcher, and i won't do that. So can some one tell me how to add more themes?
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.

This is my favourite launcher. Enough features to keep me happy and extremely lightweight. Can't wait to see what future updates bring
You can get the theme app by itself here. Then go to the theme selection menu and there should be a link to it.
Actually, I checked and you do have to download the SSkin Butterfly Launcher to use the theme shop.
Wonderful launcher..is perfect ...vut why sprays always in foreground?

Tried it. Well, it's smooth, but I still don't like. Sure is better than 360 Launcher anyway.
So far I am really diggin this launcher. Only thing it needs is to be able to edit icons and hide the dock bar , then it would be perfect

Hi, here are a couple of themes (not shure if they will work on all devices)
(they've been updated 02/03/12 4:00!)
An ICS theme
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37962289/ICS theme.zip
A "no" theme with no icons! (uses the deafult ones)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37962289/No Theme.zip
To install copy the .zip to "SDCARD_ROOT/nemuslauncher/themes/" or "/mnt/sdcard/nemuslauncher/themes/" (if doesn't exist, create it)
If someone wants to create a repository he/she/it could put them on mediafire or something similar. I'm probably not going to keep them on dropbox forever!
wow, thats a really slick launcher! thanks for the tip!
Very nice launcher.. but I've a problem while scrolling the home..sometimes it doesn't scroll or come back to previous page..
Can you resolve it?
And I've got always in background the launcher process...can you remove it?
Thanks a lot..
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
Just tried it. It is a great launcher, but I'm still sticking in Adw, because Nemus doesn't have the function for changing the icons. More customization, and I'm in.
zeam usere here, looks promising hope it stays small and quick.
one thing missing for me, swipe down gesture for the notifications.
Nice launcher.
Imported my launcher pro
And, scrolling needs to be improved. Its fast no doubt but can be better, faster
I notice that's upcoming
Thanks!

Sent my new HTC Evolution 3D running ROMeOS UNSENSED.
I just use Desktop Visualizer for my icon changing/shortcuts. Maybe having this handled elsewhere keeps it lighter weight. I feel like the scrolling will be improved in future builds. A lot was at it in the previous version so I expect a lot of optimization to come. It only seems to lag very rarely and only in certain in certain scenarios. The only other feature I feel and might be lacking is backup/restore, I just use Titanium Backup.
I am planning to maybe make/port some theme(s) and maybe make a thread in the themes section The sample zip (from the wiki link in the OP) for themes is very easy to modify. If anyone wants to help pm me.

I was disappointed it would not import Zeam or at least didn't give me option to as that seems to be the launcher it would be replacing most.

I used the same sizes and settings as the deafult theme so if that works mine should to... they have been updated just now so try and download again. If they don't work just disable them, try and make some themes with lower res icons, it's easy, just follow the instructions on the nemus launcher wiki
Also try this theme http://www.mediafire.com/?6t2w18g41zvpeaw i found it on an old thread, it has a lower density

Hey. Nice rom there.
But you should recommend flashing the MultiDPI Playstore after standart gapps, since the original one wont show all available apps when dpi is modyfied.

Nice work
Three questions:
1) Does it support displaying of Japanese language (in apps and web).
2) Does it support Russian keyboard (for writing).
3) 720p video is same choppy as on other ICS firmwares?
rom is good, but is it me or i have problem with status bar, there is no buttons for wifi, sound, gps...

Thats how AOSP is. CyanogenMOD added all these little things, and every rom thats based on CM has those buttons.
AOSP based roms doesnt have them.

yep but it was strange no have them :-\
and in fact I've added manually.
Since this is a minimalistic rom, i recommend you to add inverted apps and make the system background black like in the real dark slim mod for slim bean. For the launcher, i recommend to add a slim launcher like zeam or smart launcher. If anyone who does not like the launcher can just download apex or nova launcher from store.

I use Russian language to communicate with my coworkers & friends from Russia. (I don't need it for UI)
I learn Japanese with apps for phone, so I need support at least for displaying Japanese letters (I mean katakana/hiragana/kanji).
I'm asking these questions because I like this ROM from what I see in description, but I already used couple of slim ROMs, that only supported US/EU languages. And instead of Japanese letters I saw blank spaces on sites and in apps. And no Russian keyboard..

About that... I got permission from the developer of Elegant theme to use his theme in the rom.
The link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080046
I'm just working on making a working port for this theme, as it is originally designed for the international version of our phone

Thanks man. I honestly got kind of sick of developers not responding to comments, and roms just sitting there FOREVER without an update or fix. So, I decided to change that I'll support this as long as I have this phone, and when I upgrade in a year and a half, I plan to do the same with my next device
Rom is really good. Scored 5929 on quadrant.
Requests: volume control skip (if its possible in jb yet lol) 4.2 keyboard, add the tw clock back and remove xda or make it uninstallable. Same with play movies &tv.
Just my 2 cents but otherwise rom is good!
Keep up the good work!

Volume control skip and 4.2 keyboard are being working on as we speak! If you want the 4.2 keyboard now, you can go download Jellybean Keyboard from the Play Store Do you mean the AccuWeather clock? I took it out because it seemed to make the widgets side of the app drawer laggy. If many people want it back, I have no problem doing so the google play movies and tv and the xda app will be removed in the next build
Thanks for trying out my rom, it means a lot.

[Q] Launcher

Hello everybody!
First I want to underline that I know that there is no any "best launcher", it is just a matter of taste.
De gustibus non est disputandum.

I am writing here, because I am tired... I am looking for a suitable launcher for me for a few months...
I have tried almost all launchers from google play and a lot from xda that are not on google play...
I should mention that my phone is now: Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and I am running currently Dirty Unicorns rom (4.4)
So... I am looking for launcher that is at the same time: stable, fast, light-weight, doesn't consume a lot of ram and is customisable...
WHAT I USED TILL NOW:
1. launcher 3 - It is great, very fast, stable etc. but it can't be customized for example: I can't hide apps in app drawer (it is a must have option for me)
2. Launcher google now - Fantastic launcher, but not light-weight and the only way to customize it is to install a special xposed module... Also I had a few problems with this google's product - for example: when launcher 3 was installed, google launcher wasn't working properly and was always asking me to change him to default (but he was )
3. APUS launcher - this one would be the best... But it has a lot of unnecessary add-ons which slows my phone down... Also I am not using defalut LCD density, but smaller one (200dpi) and with this density this launcher had a lot of problems -- cutting text, icons looked wired and were 'raged' I would say... That's why I had to resign of using it
4. Nova Launcher - good one, but not for me, I experienced bugs with widgets and it also made my phone slower (a lot of people can argue with this, but that's what I felt after using it)
5. Smart Launcher 2 - Just terrible, nothing more to say
6. Vire Launcher - A lot of customizations and the 3D transitions are great, but too heavy - slows my phone a lot
7. Inspire launcher - Problems with LCD density and almost all customizations are paid
8. Solo launcher - This one I am using now, is very stable, has a lot of customizations, the drain of battery and ram is not that big, but I have expereienced a few bugs - i.e. with transtitions in app drawer or with wallpaper, that's why I need to change it...
9. Go launcher EX - just NO
10. KK Launcher/S Launcher/Galaxy Launcher - Great, but makes my phone a lot slower
11. Swift Open - This launcher is one of the greatest, and has a lot of benefits, I love it, but the only thing is that it still is in beta stage and has some bugs and till the developers make it bug free I need sth else...
I am also saying no to those launchers:
-dodol Launcher
-Buzz Launcher
-ZERO Launcher
-EverythinMe Launcher
Well I checked more launchers, but there is no need to write more...
My question is, does anyone know a launcher suitable for me?
If yes then write here about it!
PS. I would make my own launcher, but I am beginner in programming, for now learning basics of c++, so pls don't say "Make your own launcher"

Hi, thanks for the answer I have already tried this one and it's not good enough and I don't need customizations like rotation of icons or making strange looking groups , also it is paid now (sometime ago it wasn't) ...
Besides Trebuchet, the new SlimLauncher that comes with SlimKat builds would probably be perfect for RAM usage. It looks like your i9100 hasn't had builds for a while and wouldn't have the latest one, aside from the fact that you're running DU.

I just tried it and it has all feautures I need and seems not to slow down my phone - but It is to big (resolution of icons and layout)
So thread is still open
You're welcome. Look under General > Icon Size...
It's there.
Keep in mind that SlimLauncher is still being worked on.
Slow down? Just look and feel or you have measurements?
I started using my first launcher Nova few days ago initially hesitant but feel phone is faster.
We cannot add pages in moto g default launcher it max to 5 pages fixed.
Still feel 4+ mb app size for a launcher is memory overhead.

@NoSpamDan - Well it changed my icons size and fits great, but I will in a minute upload a ss of a layout bug Thank you I will check inside the app and see how the layout is there and maybe fix it myself, but not at the moment... @vikraminside - Just look and feel The change is seen from the beggining, so I am trying to avoid such launchers, it's just my opinion, anyway thanks
