Capturing user input navigation using Tasker - Android Apps and Games

I am newbie and learning to do things with Tasker. I already gone through a primer on the Profiles, Tasks and little bit of Variables. Have a limited programming background.
I would like know if I can capture user input/navigation to perform a function in Tasker and create a Widget/Shortcut so I don't have to do multiple steps every time I need to perform the activity.
here is the specific function I want to do it that helps.
On a click of shortcut/Widget:
1. Open Vonage Extension App
2. Wait until the App gets loaded
3. Search and dial a specific number in the contacts list from within Vonage Extension
4. Since my Vonage Extension is linked to a Google Voice number, usually, the GV App opens up asking me to select one of the options( e.g - always use GV, use GV for all international calls etc.,)
5. Choose the desired option in GV and continue the call
I guess step #4 can be performed in the beginning and set it back to default after the call is complete if that's easy.
Appreciate your insight..

Cyberon voice commander vs. Contact category

My Kaiser comes with Cyberon Voice commander (CVC), however, the default CVC behavior is to include ALL contacts for voice recognition! I have over 1200+ contacts in my contacts and most of them are business associates that I will NEVER want to call them with my phone with CVC. However they are needed to stay in my Contacts for email and provide phone number lookup when I use company phone to make calls.
I do have people I definitely want to use CVC to make call and most of them are under either 'family' or 'friends' categories. (maybe only around 100 people)
The voice recognition success rate also goes down a lot due to so many people has similar names. This makes CVC almost unusable for me if I don't disable all those contacts that doesn't need voice control.
The problem is in CVC control applet, you can only disable contact ONE-BY-ONE by hand! Not even a "disable all" function available! Also, new contacts are automatically added into voice control database....
So, is there anyway to have a function like "disable all" so I can add in only the contact I want, or even better, add only contacts under certain categories (such as "family") but not others?
Thanks in advance!
good question, I would like to know if theres a way also.......

Google Voice on WM6.5 (and older) - my experience

Google is not making a Google Voice app for WM6.x, period. I don't think anyone can argue with that fact. After seeing how beautiful GV integrates with my wife's Samsung Galaxy phone, I decide to find ways to integrate GV with WM6.x. Here is what I have:
1. Make sure the contacts and email are synchronized with GV account. It actually saves major headache.
2. For dialing out using GV, I highly recommend iDialer + iContact. They can both be found under "Windows Mobile Apps" at http://www.supware.net/. The combination allows to dial any contact number using GV directly. And it's free.
Personally I use the "calling card" setup, which my phone calls my GV number first, then "2", then destination phone number (it's all done automatically using iDialer). It takes about 30 seconds before I hear it rings the destination phone so it's actually pretty quick, and almost guaranteed to always work as it doesn't depend on Google's server.
3. For SMS, there are many ways. EasySMS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604699) is pretty cool but I don't want to load another app. Here is what I have found out. Since I asked GV to forward all SMS to my Gmail as Email, I paid attention to the sender. It's always like this:
15551234567.16661234567.&#&#&#&#&#@txt.voice.google.com
15551234567 is my GV number, 16661234567 is the number where the SMS is coming from, &#&#&#&#&# is a unique ID for each phone number. I noticed this unique ID is always the same for that particular phone number no matter when the SMS was sent. Now things are simple, I save this email as the primary email address in the contact info. When I need to SMS someone, I just send an email from my Outlook to that Email address, and the other person will receive the body of the message as SMS (info in subject line is discarded automatically). In iContact, this is very convenient.
When they text me back, since my Gmail is "push" synchronized with my phone I get the message as an email immediately, and I may reply the message by reply that email.
4. For those contacts that did not SMS me in the past so I don't have this Email address available. So what do I do? Like the iPhone Google Voice interface? You can do it too from WM6.5! I use Iris browser:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-iris-browser.html
I know it's discontinued but it still works well since it's HTML5 supported. After installing that browser, navigate to:
https://www.google.com/voice/m?uipref=1
Notice that "uipref=1" is the magic part. Without it, you see the old DOS style GV interface. With it, you have this full dialpad and everything iPhone browser would show you. Wait a minute, why do I still need iDialer if I have this? Well, the "Call" function actually is not recognized by Iris browser Besides it's 100 times faster to load iDialer on any device I owned. But the SMS function works very well. Again, once you receive the first SMS from your friend to your GV number then you may save the Email address to the contact info so you only use this occasionally.
If you don't care about the UI, you may use any other browser, just navigate to:
https://www.google.com/voice/m
Don't include the "uipref=1" part as those non-HTML5 browser won't render the page correctly.
The only reason I need the fancy UI is because that's the only mobile UI that would allow me to actually *delete* a voicemail or a text, instead of just archiving it.
I know there are many WM6.x users out there that would like to use Google Voice on a daily basis. Hope this helps someone down the line.
a small change since I posted this last time: I got rid of Iris. First I don't use the fancy dial pad since I dial from iDialer anyways, second Iris keeps crash with the slightest browsing and accumulate cache file very quickly (couple of min browsing could end up with a cache file of more than 30 Mb).
Here is the modified plan:
I still use www.google.com/voice/m in opera mini to access most of the important functions of google voice quickly. When I need to delete a voicemail, I use this address:
www.google.com/voice/m?uipref=1#~voice:s=inbox&l=inbox
Alternatively you may navigate to:
www.google.com/voice/m?uipref=1 then click "inbox"
Since I have opera mini memorized my login credentials it's easy to access the inbox thru the "fancy" interface and perform a delete. However since opera mini is not an HTML5 browser this becomes pretty much the only function it's good at.
This way I don't need to install a pretty much dead browser (Iris) on my phone and also have my password remembered by yet another browser. It's also very convenient too.

Google Voice Native Integration with Voice Commands

As an iphone user and a heavy google voice user I'm a bit frustrated at how google voice can't integrate with my iphone. On the iphone I will have to open a third party app or the official GV app to make a call/send it text via google voice. That's fine but the problem on the iphone is you can't choose the native apps or change the default system actions. Thus when you want to send a link to the webpage via sms the iphone will automatically use it's own client and your default carrier number, when you want to dial out using voicecommands or a bluetooth headset you'll dial out using the native iphone caller client and your default carrier number (you get the gist of this).
I know that andriod phones have varying degrees of google voice integration. I know some phones give you the option of choosing between your numbers when you dial out and stuff like that. My question is how does this work on newer phones and phones with jellybean? If I want to text a link from my browser using my google voice number - can I do so directly or do I need to go about the roundabout way of copying the link and pasting it from say the google voice application? If I want to make a handsfree call from my headset using my google voice number - can this be easily done? I know jellybean has the feature where you can send a handsfree text message - can I do so from my google voice number (not the default carrier number)?
Does this integration carry over to third party apps? If you want to send a link from within an application will you be able to do so directly using your google voice number? If you use a driving hands free assistant link vlingo can you designate your outgoing texts and calls to be your google voice number.
Thanks guys and sorry for the cluster of questions.

Bluetooth voice calling with support offline mode

By means of voice commands of VoiceButton it is possible to execute voice search of contacts offline, to call, dial number, to look for places on a map, to lay out routes, to open programs. The voice set of number through typeface bluetooth will be very useful driving the machine.
The application is able to sound incoming calls and automatically to turn on the speakerphone. Activation of the program by means of Bluetooth and wire headset is supported. In systems with the Android 4.1. above operation offline is supported.
The application can work in two modes:
Normal - the mode in which the program won't talk to you. In case of determination of contact with high accuracy the automatic set of number through time, given in settings, can be made. This mode can be used in the absence of typeface;
Driving - the mode in which the program will synthesize voice messages. This mode is useful when using typeface or when your hands are occupied.
The modes can switch automatically in case of connection and switch-off of headset. In each mode the personal settings set by you can be used.
It is possible to launch the program with the help bluetooth or wire headset.
Usually for start with Bluetooth of typeface it is necessary to click and hold the call key. For specification study the instruction on specific model. In certain cases start of the program from typeface doesn't work. The reason can be both in headset, and in phone.
For start from wire headset press and retain the typeface button. That start in case of lock worked activate point in settings.
For all commands it is possible to use aliases (words for automatic changeover).
The program uses the voice input and a speech synthesizer which is built in system.
For search of places and navigation by voice the program supports Google Maps.
Reserve saving and restoration of settings, the list of aliases is provided.
Detailed description of operation of some functions
Operation with contacts
For search of contact it is necessary to launch recognition of the program and after a sound signal to say the text for search.
Search of contact works by name, to number or its part, type, the name of the organization
Example: Bruce Simpson, Mark 911, Mother home, Andrew work.
For exact identification of contact it is possible to use an alias.
This function is available online also offline.
Operation with programs
For start of the program it is necessary to say the command "open application" + "a program name".
For example: open application gallery.
If to use an alias, it is possible to launch programs using simpler words. For example instead of "Open application gallery" it is possible to tell "show pictures" if of course you create such alias. Aliases can be used for opening of programs with difficult names. This function is available online also offline.
Operation with Google maps
For search of the next place it is necessary to say the “map” command + "name of a place or an address". If you set Google maps and the place is found, the program with a route spacer sentence will be launched. This function is available only online.
Current time
To learn the current time just tell the time command and the program will tell you it.
This function is available online also offline.
Call back
To call back according to the last number say a command "call back".
Important advantage of the program: a voice set of number without the Internet.
The free version supports only 5 alias
Supported bluetooth headset Jabra, Plantronics, Sony, Samsung and others with prof. HSF

Message Forwarder - SMS, MMS, and Call Notification Forwarding

Thread for the Message Forwarder App. This is a good way to reach the developer with any questions, concerns, or feature requests you might have in mind.
What is Message Forwarder?
Message Forwarder allows to automatically forward incoming text (SMS) messages, multimedia (MMS) messages, and phone call notifications to any phone number or e-mail address of your choice. Just tell the app what kind of messages and calls to handle and where to send them to, and Message Forwarder will take care of everything from there.
- Specify phone numbers to filter the messages and phone calls by.
- Specify phone numbers or e-mail addresses to forward the messages and call notifications to.
- Set up thorough and flexible manipulation rules to automatically modify the content of the messages before being forwarded. Very useful for those coupling this app with automated systems that make use of keywords.
- Attach information of the original sender or caller on the forwarded message.
- View a history of the messages forwarded, along with all their attachments in the case of multimedia messages.
- Specify days of the week and times of the day in which messages and call notifications should not be forwarded. Very useful for those not interested in forwarding messages during off hours, like weekends or weeknights.
- And much, much more.
Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
Screenshots
Attaching screenshots of current version (Version 1.2.6.XDA)
PS: I am a satisfied user of the app, Just giving my inputs to the forum.
My Simple review: I am looking for an app that can forward selected SMS from (secondary)mobile to email and found this app.
Feedback:
The app is easy to setup with step by step screen, DEV had well thought the flow of the setup.
I don't find any unnecessary permissions that can misused.
Each time by watching the 10sec ad APP provides 170 quota to use the app. No need to pay upfront ($5 for onetime purchase)
Few options I like in the app:
Able to forward SMS/MMS/CALL LOG
We can forward from ALL/SELECTED contacts and have Single or Multiple Targets (email/phone)
Use of FILTERS/RULES & Scheduling.
Few requests/suggestions to DEV:
I feel the current permission request steps are confusing and user may miss few of them. It will be easy if app can request the required access step by step while setting up the app.
Provide section/option for required access if user missed granting while setting up the app.
Kudos to the app developer, appreciate the efforts. Thanks for sharing with members.

Out of all the permissions the app asks for, a few can be moved to earlier in the configuration process (Read SMS, Receive SMS, Receive MMS, Send SMS, Read Contacts, Read Call Logs). Some others must stay in the end because they are required regardless of what options the user picks during the configuration process (Ignore Battery Optimization). I do agree the experience could be improved if we move the ones we can. I'll take a stab at it soon.
The user does get an explanation of why each permission is needed, but only if they chose NOT to grant it in the past; as in... "I see you didn't grant XYZ permission when I asked for it. I still need it and here is why". I think we should leave it that way for simplicity. If we move the permission requests to their respective steps in the configuration process, it should be obvious to the user why that permission is being requested. If they reject it, then the app can start giving explanations why they are needed.
The app also notifies the user about missing permissions through a system notification when it cannot do something because of the lack of such permission. It also gives the user a reminder whenever they visit the app and a needed permission is still not granted. If the user misses any permissions, they find out sooner rather than later.
For now, I can at least move forward with the permission request relocation mentioned above. I'll let you know how that goes.
Great start! I upgraded to Premium but it is not taking the upgrade. What should I do?

Thanks for the quick response!
Excellent app.
But, a few caveats need to be filled quickly.
1. Provision for SIM selection of SMS forwarding (should be a part of each rule).
2. The developer has already implemented setting Sender ID quite nicely (inclusion/exclusion) on screen no. 4 of config.
- But, it lacks the ability to find partial matches. For example, I have been receiving messages from +4456874***, the last three digits can be dynamic. I want all these messages to be forwarded.
- Take another example. all SMS received from number containing ****8808** is to be forwarded.
- In short, please make provisions for matching Prefix, body, suffix of a sender ID.
3. SMS from custom sender IDs (sender ID that contains a text string, instead of numbers) was not forwarded.
- Example. I keep receiving "service messages" from UKING***, BRISRLY* etc.
- With the current version, its not possible to create a rule for forwarding these messages.
- Please implement partial matches (as described above) for custom sender IDs too.
It has been a wonderful effort already.
Big thanks to the developer.

Hi,
1- I've been planning on implementing dual SIM support, but unfortunately do not have a dual SIM device to test this on, and the Android emulator does not support it either. Would you like to volunteer to become an alpha-tester of this feature with your device?
2- I'll consider adding some sort of pattern matching for this. I first have to think how to make it user-friendly (not require knowledge of RegEx or anything like that).
3- You should be able to type in any kind of alphanumeric string in the contacts screen, and the app be able to handle it just fine. Are you saying that's what you did, but when a message came in, the app did not process it?

1. For Sure.
2. Take your time
3. Exact match works. any bit of deviation ruins it.

That's great! Could you send me a private message with your e-mail address? I will send you the alpha version of the app with the Dual-SIM feature when it's ready.
Hello there and thank you.
1. Is it possible to enable delivery report for sent messages?
2. In Dynamic Content config, I want to search for a specific keyword and if found, forward the message. If i leave the "replace" text empty, it will erase the keyword from message. It's good to have a checkbox to disable text replacement.

Hello there.
1. Delivery reports for SMS seem trivial. I'm not so sure about MMS though; I can't find any Android documentation for it. I'll have to look into it.
2. As far as the Dynamic Content, you can simply retype the keyword in the "replace" field. Essentially this translates to: find "my-keyword" and replace it with "my-keyword"; effectively leaving the message intact.
Regards.

I really like Message Forwarder and it has work perfectly for me. BUT my work phone is VERY old and the current version of Message Forwarder will not work. How can I get an older version that will work with Andriod 5.1?

Hi. Do the failed messages appear in the app's Messages Screen? Are you forwarding to phone numbers or e-mails? If e-mails, what proxy account are you using? Outlook or Gmail?
Message Fowarder
I was forwarding to 2 email addresses and one texting/ phone app. When the messages did get forwarded they did show up on the message tab. If they were not forwarded they did not. I am using a Gmail proxy. I changed my configuration to only my Gmail account. Thank you for quick response I hope this is an easy issue to rectify.
