I love this feature with Cyanogen but I'm using a captivate, and CM7 still isn't stable enough for everyday use yet

I was thinking if there is any mod that eg. Turn vol keys into headset button behaviour (change song) while the screen is off. As it is in cyanogen mod.
Or make music stock notification widget work as a headset button. I use Power amp.

This is probably the most useful feature for me. I really miss it coming from cyanogenmod. Basically with screen off, you can control next and previous songs by long pressing the volume buttons. It is not available in stock of course. I tried several music apps but no luck. Anyone know of another way?

Lmt launcher. Set gesture or pie button to activate back/forward key. Going to do this now
Make sure to set min gesture score/path length lower (50 and 5 work well). Device input 2 is what works for our phone.
Right now I have:
square and diamond for pause/play (key 85)
rightDouble for next song (key 87)
leftDouble for previos (key 88)
updownDouble and downupDouble for wifi toggle
works very well outside of chrome. you'll need to hit the omnibar and then the gesture for it work in chrome

do you know of an app that let skips song just with the volume buttons ??
I want to skip to previous or next song by long pressing the volume up or down button. It doesn't seem to be available in stock OOS, only the gesture control. Is there a way to add this functionality with rooted phone?

Probably a faq:
I’ve installed power amp, and want that to launch instead of the stock music player when hitting the music button. Power amp is working ok.
Don’t see a way to add new actions in button key study factory settings.
Don’t see a way to over-ride the behavior of the existing music action listed in the button key study.
Beyond that question, seems the builtin music app needs to be left running (background) in order for steering wheel button presses to trigger track forward/etc in power amp. How to fix to no longer need the default music app?
