[Q] Accented characters é/è/ø/å etc. with hardware keyboard - Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G

I have today a HTC Desire Z and I'm thinking about getting a Galaxy S Relay. I have a question regarding accented characters.
Do you get a list of accented characters when you press and hold on a vowel key on the hardware keyboard? For instance if you press and hold the 'e' key, do you then get a list like é/è/ê/ë on the screen so you can choose the appropriate character?
Or is it necessary to use the 'Sym' key to get accented characters?
Maybe someone has a screenshot to show here.
Thank you very much for your help

Excellent find! Works for me too....geeze which I would of known that a while back...hahaha
hey, thanks!
I had been hitting 123 all the time, too!
You'd be surprised how many people don't know this and many other neat tricks. Simply because they aren't published in the manual or were too lazy to read it.
speaking of keyboard tricks. check out finger keyboard v2.1
i installed it a few days ago and cant stop using it, even when it takes half as long to use the hard keyboard
and no i dont work for them

POCKETCM Keyboard does the same thing. Depending on the layout of the keyboard, you can hit the letter "k" or hold it down and it will type in a Capital "K" ... saves from hitting SHIFT+Key. Or.. hold down a key and puts the number...
One thing this does that FingerKB does not do is that you hold down a KEY and you can CUT, COPY, or PASTE.
I used to use the stock Keyboard to CNTL-C (COPY) etc... but now, just a single keypress...
if you hit shift or go into caps on finger keyboard you have cut copy paste as wella s a buttload of other shortcuts (ie www, http, .com, .net) and a bunch of phrases like where are you? When will you be here? what are you doing? etc

[Q] symbols on keys on dock problem

My keyboard dock is working perfectly - well, at least in terms of the keys not freezing or the touchpad becoming unresponsive. However, I do have one issue with it. Some of the secondary symbols on the keys (such as the @ sign, the hash tag) don't correspond with what appears when you touch it. So, for example, when I press the @ key, I get quotation marks instead, and when I press the hashtag key, I get the backslash sign.
Does anyone have this problem?
Is the @ symbel Shift-2?
Sounds like your keyboard is set to the UK layout. I don't have my TF yet, so I can't tell you exactly where, but change your language/regional settings to the US layout.

How to make keyboard stop deleting whole words when I press and hold backspace

For some reason whenever I press and hold the backspace button it deletes whole words that I wrote causing me to have to write a whole lota text again. Any and all help on fixing this problem so that the backspace button deletes single characters at a time like a normal keyboard from this country does would be greatly appreciated.

If you press the backspace one tap at a time it will delete one letter at a time, if you hold backspace it deletes a few letters at a slow pace, hold it longer and it speeds up and deletes whole words, it is designed to do that.
If you want a different keyboard then try a few of them from playstore, read the rating, reviews and comments about each of them and find the best one that suits you.

[solved] Special characters

I feel really stupid for asking this, but how do I type special characters like / on the physical keyboard? Its labelled yellow on the same key as P, but I have yet to figure out how to actually type it. I would have thought it should be the yellow arrow key + P, but that doesn't work. I selected English US as the keyboard layout.
EDIT: it works if I deselect all keyboard layouts. However, if I do that, I keep getting a notification to select a layout.
You should try out FinQwerty. This app brings much better keyboard layouts, which you can select after installation.
Thanks, very useful!

In the Default layout you press & hold the Arrow key next to the left control key to get the yellow characters.

Yup same here, but after a few times it asks do you want to block the notification.
Thank you so much. I got the German Keyboardlayout working with lineage now )

How do I get my keyboard to behave the way it normally did...?

I have a Windows compatible usb keyboard that I use with a cable/cord that allows it to be used on my Android phone.
It worked alright for a while this way but now, the shift and caps lock doesn't capitalize letters the way I'm used to (and the way it did before)(when I press shift key down while holding a letter, the letter doesn't become capitalized and doesn't doesn't always keep capitalizing letters (even though I didn't turn off caps lock)). I have to press the shift key quickly and then press a letter instead of holding shift key down.
I haven't used the keyboard much or often.

I cannot know that by heart. It's probably somewhere under "input". Every phone is different.
