[Q] Controlling the Tablet from an Android Phone?

Hi,
Just wondering if its at all possible to control the Transformer from an Android phone, the Xperia X10 on 2.1 in my case? I ask because I now have Plex on my transformer and would love to have my phone as a remote control for the tablet so I can keep it near the TV on HDMI while I can pause, play etc in Plex? Would also be nice if you could control other things on the tablet but just controlling Plex would be nice at this stage.
Thanks.
My question will be different can we sync SMS from my phone to transformer?
I am also very interested in this sort of functionality, albeit for a different reason. I currently own a G2 and am planning on buying a transformer in the next few months. I want to be able to use my phone as a game controller for emulators or games running on the tablet. I am wondering if there's an app that can do this already, and if not I might be interested in trying my hand at developing one. Now don't get too exited though, as I'm still a beginner with app development, and it would more than likely take a while for me to figure out how to do it. But I guess this is doubling as an offer to any other app developers out there with more experience than me, if you want to work together on something then I'm more than willing to help
you can use textab on android market
I believe Blueput Droid can do this
https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.blueputdroid
I'll second Blueputdroid. Phone has to be rooted, but it works great for me on HTC Desire.
sorry ignore.
DroidMote Server/Client
Long time lurker first time poster. I had this question and on another post somewhere it was suggested to try DroidMote Server. I installed Droidmote server installed on TF and client installed on phone(Droid 1). I can control everything I need to and it has a built in mouse function with mouse cursor on your tablet. Im not sure specifically about the Xperia. You could try it and have a 15 minute window to return if it doesnt work or just contact the developer.

I ordered one of these on the second cant wait tell it ships.
So it's almost 2 months later, anyone have any feedback on the SmartStick? I'm interested in a portable Google TV stick but the current reviews out there are mixed to say the least.

favi smart stick start up & initial impression
My pre order SS 4GB finally arrived today after a few delays. They did do some free upgrades due to the missed dates (Plex, USB charger, upgraded software)
I promptly plugged it in and got the start up screen wizard. the ir remote was not responsive at all. In fact, I had to unplug the USB charging and reset to get it working. Even after that, the remote has alot to be desired. Just a cheap piece of plastic, really. I am hoping I can program my Harmony One universal remote to work with it and/or someone will develop a wifi remote for the device. HINT HINT!
anyway, after the initial setup which was pretty painful using a combination of a directional tab for cursor and onscreen keyboard entry (I didnt order the wireless keyboard mouse as you may have guessed) I was able to set up my Google account and get a couple apps installed from the store.
I am pleasantly surprised that the device is configured like it is a phone, so the limitations of Google TV and other set top boxes are not there (I am happily listening to Spotify on my home system directly- not requiring my usual airplay form the iPhone or iPad.) I look forward to being able to essentially have all the apps on my GS3 that make sense set up on the TV.
Once I was able to get to the settings, I changed the display to 1080 (I would think they should default to the highest available...it is HDMI after all.
I will certainly report back after checking out how well it can stream the media from my server, but my first impression is that it has potential to connect media to the TV.
There needs to be a much better control setup as well as clear ways to set up screensavers.
UPDATE an hour later:
OK, so I am able to control the device with Google TV remote. no problem. The bugs in that app have been worked out well and it seems to work really well. its a free app, so perfect!
I like that I am able to hook up a camera and BAM! a nice Sype implementation using the big screen. Logitech Revue limited me to their proprietary Vid software. This plus Spotify make this a worthy purchase for me.
still wish I could have more control over the homescreen. I dont see how to clear up the screens and I am limited to a kind of MIUI look with all my apps listed and 2 spots for widgets. hmmmmm
Hi I just received my smartstick. Very pleased with android system but the remote is pain so I was looking
For some app for my SGS2 with which I can control smartstick. I found tablet remote which would be perfect
But!! When I run this app on stick it was telling me he cant register SDP record for com.tournesol.tabletremote
so it didn't worked.
My question is guys do you think it will be solved just by simply rooting stick? Is there a way how to safely root
Smart stick? Thx
Droidmote is what I've heard people use to remote control these Android TV sticks from their phone. It may be worth a try.
You can actually use Google TV remote as well.

Will this arrive to the Philippines?

Use a launcher to replace the home screen

Good review mate thanks for that
Just to let you know I use launcher pro (although you could use any of the launcher apps - most of which are free) downloaded from google play. This then creates a nice clean near stock interface to play with to your hearts content. If you have a big screen like mine you can jack up the columns and rows to 10 / 8 and have a nice big Spotify widget in the corner of the screen.
Worked for me anyways...best of luck!
I have the rooted OS installed as well as frodo 12 XBMC. It runs great. My only issue is with the Logitech Google TV keyboard which causes a bug when switching on XBMC for the first time. Otherwise this is a great alternative to turn a dumb TV into a smart TV and allow installation of all kinds of Android applications

I sure would love to. I will post a link when the Rom will be up. Pretty Soon I hope.
Just got a stick in today. Anyone else find that it's really slow to surf the web?
There anyway to force to landscape mode on apps? Tried installing dolphin browser but it stops at the setup/splash screen and i can't get past it w/ out rotating the app...grr
Would like to know if anyone else has started using any other ROMs? I'm curious if a tablet rom would be best.

Hit Esc on the Dolphin Splash Screen. There should Appear a No Thanks or skip or ... menu button.
I was stuck at that screen for a while until I discovered this solution.

You need to look very Closely on the Bottom of the screen very closely. I don't remember for a fact but the Skip Link is grey colored and not very easy to distinguish.
Changing the orientation won't help as then the link goes out of Screen.

I have used set orientation in the past with great success on my phones never used it on the stick

i got it working. i barely noticed the small 3 grey dots at the bottom of the screen and was able to get it to scroll through them. then it finally went into the main browser window.
i really like the media stick, but flash just absolutely kills it. this thing could use to be a dual core at min but then i guess it wouldn't be $50

[Q] Nexus 7 as display for TV dongle possible?

Hello everyone,
I am attempting to hack a Tronsmart MK908II TV dongle into a portable web server, dev environment, and sandbox. For my first attempt I'm using the stock ROM and apps from the app store such as Bit Web Server and Terminal IDE. I've had a fair amount of success, though very tempted to install Pic-Untu (Ubuntu) for a more open and accessible environment.
One of my main objectives is to have a miniature HD monitor so I can have direct access to the device if necessary even when I'm on the go. Before I go out and buy a suitable device for this, I'm trying to get my Nexus 7 to act as the display, since I always have it with me and it's the perfect size. I believe I may have all the necessary cables and converters to make something like this possible... I'm just a bit stuck at the moment on getting it all to work as I want and I suspect its a software/config/capabilities limitation more than a physical one. I have already attempted this a couple of different ways, including using a USB cable from the dongle and an OTG converter for my Nexus 7, but have not been able to get it to to recognize input from the dongle.
Does anyone have any advice that might point me in the right direction? Maybe this would actually be easier if Ubuntu was running on the stick instead of Android. I still want to try a few more things before I head down that path, but I'd love to know if my efforts here would be futile.
Thanks!

[Q] How to Screencast a specic app, not the desktop screen

Guys,
I'm trying to find a solution to this, but can't, so I'll ask the pros.
I'd like to use my android tablet to teach. But I need to be able to send a specific application to the external screen all the time (ezpdfReader), while at the same time, being able to open other applications on the tablet without letting the students see those applications on the big screen. For example, if I use geddit and they see my screen, their privacy is busted.
Another example: one decides to play a video on the external screen, and would like to check an email on the tablet without disturbing the movie that's being played.
So basically I need a way to broadcast through hdmi only a single app, in full screen, while having the tablet free for other stuff. The broadcast of the specific app should run in the background, and be raised back when needed.
Is there a way to do this? An app, perhaps? Paid solutions are welcome.
If it's of any help, I'm using a samsung galaxy note 2014 edition.
Thank you!
I'm going to have to go with you, this seems really interesting and cool. Hopefully someone has an answer.
If I helped, don't hesitate to hit that Thanks button

[Q] Getting Controller to work with Samsung Homesync

Not sure where I should ask this since the Samsung Homesync never really took off and the only thread I can locate is in regards to the ROOT process. I am unable to ROOT as I am on an unsupported firmware unfortunately.
I accepted it and have turned it into a media center using the android version of XBMC. Things are looking great with the exception of when I go to play games using RetroArch my controller is not recognized for input. It works both wirelessly and wired for everything except when I load a game then no input is recognized.
In the lower part of the screen I see Port 0: Gasia Co..Ltd I am using a Power A PS3 wireless controller. Where can I figure out how to make this work or solid options for a replacement that works with the Samsung Homesync.
Thanks all!
You are right about homesync. It is a remarkably useless item. Neither a real server, nor does it even have the ability to run one's basic tablet apps, such as hbo-go, etc, which would make it useful as a permanent media center with all one's movie subscriptions, etc! However, yesterday, through a series of lucky steps and bits and pieces of advice from here, I managed to turn the thing into the equivalent of my rooted SM-P605, with all the bells and whistles. And, it maintains its unique "homesync" features such as the ability to be controlled by one's phone, etc. If interested, I will post the exact steps I took. I am actually using the thing now!
