Hey guys,
Before I begin, I just like to say that I am not a developer. I just started learning some development my self a few weeks ago.
Here guys is a simple mod that I did and I like to share it. This mod allows you to have all the S4 contact pictures in contacts, messaging, and phone apps.
I did so by extracting all the original S4 contact pictures from the S4 system dump and then re-sizing them to our NOTE contacts size(Also zipaligned). So, as you can notice from the screenshots that I used all s4 contact pictures in their different sizes and also I used some S4 contact pictures that are not shown in the screenshots.
This mod is for deodexed roms. I am on Ultimate Jelly Bean rom v6.
Update: Added S4 conversation bubbles in SecMms.apk. So, if you already downloaded the SecMms.apk before, just re-download the new SecMms.apk and follow the installation process below.
Update 2:
Fixed the language bug. So now languages are supported!
Added S4 conversation backgrounds in Messaging. Added S4 "Add Contact" image to SecContacts.
Added Flashable.zip for all files. So now you can flash the file you want through recovery!
Download the new SecContacts, SecMms, and SecPhone and flash them through recovery to get all fixes and changes.
How to install:
NOTE:I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG ON YOUR PHONE. DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK.
1. Do a nandroid backup.
2. Use any root explorer and try to find the locations of your SecPhone.apk, SecContacts.apk, and SecMms.apk. (They are usually located in System\app or in preload)
3. Now, if the file is located in preload, then download the flashble.zip for preload. If the file is located in system, then download the flashable.zip for system.(All Flashable.zips are attached bellow)
4. Reboot to recovery.
5. Flash the files you downloaded through recovery.
6. Reboot your phone.

Yes mjrifath, they are all still included since I am on Ultimate Jelly Bean Rom v6 and I used the apks from that rom.

What is the difference between s4 contact pictures and note contact pictures? I can't see any difference from the screens you've posted.

Thanks for your works, I've only one issue, there is only english? The apps don't translate with the change of region as any other apps.

Thanks pal,
To change the language go to Settings>Language and input>Language and choose the language you want. I tried it and it worked.
You cannot change the language by changing the region.
Try it and tell me if it works.

It's weired I change my language to english, then I set it to french and it works for phone and contacts but not for messaging, it stays to messaging instead of "message" in french ^^. That's not a real problem but my rom is for french people, but thanks, problem resolve for two of three apps
EDIT : In fact in communication I still have all the buttons in english :s, but thanks for help ^^.

Ah yes I forgot this.. thanks for reminding me. The SecMms.apk supports only English language. This is a known bug in the Ultimate Jelly Bean rom v6. But, the Contacts and Phone apks support all languages.
When this bug is fixed I will update and replace with the fixed one.

The SecContacts.apk and SecPhone.apk both support multilingual and the messages in SecMms will also be saved in whatever language you use. If you mean the layout of the SecMms, I am waiting for a fix for that and I will update when the fix is available. So don't worry pal!

i havent tested it on other roms.. just on mine (stock rooted deodexed MEA) it probably will work but just incase do a backup and make sure to wipe dalvik cache..

This is miui Rom it is a very nice Rom you should try it and it is based on Tw 4.1.2 so you will not miss anything

You can install s voice like any apk
Group play keeps force closing unless you uninstall updates in apps settings, still works though you just lose the new app picture

I dont know if im the only one, but i never understood why the Stock Android Smileys are the ugly green ones.
That's why I modded the SecMms,apk of the Note 3, to provide you with 7 (yeah, that;s right) different custom smiley sets.
Also, im providing the Stock ones in case anyone wants to revert back.
I will be attaching screenshots soon, but I would love if someone with the actual Note 3 took screenshots of the different smiley sets for us

I tried it but unfortunately it doesn't work as well. At least in the Google Hangouts and other chat apps I use. Maybe it's working in the stock messaging app but I didn't check because I've deleted it.
Anyways basically I need something that works system wide on 4.4

it won't work on third party apps. it's basically just a theme to cover those green smileys on the secmms.apk (tw stock messaging) :fingers-crossed:

Yup. For anyone wanting something that works system wide, after a long search I finally found this:

The guide is for the S4, but I can confirm it is working flawlessly on the N9005.

Write the full name of the firmware (including the model number, if different from the N900)

Navigate to system\app with root explorer Make a backup of secphone.apk and secphone.odex copy paste the 2 files that are in the download zip into system\app erase the odex file and set permission to the new files you copy to rw-r--r-- and reboot

Did it, tnx, all went fine. However my phone app still have childish look and white background, not like yours on the screenshot. Any idea?
Actually, after I press Call it turns into black background, but the keypad, contacts and logs are still white. Is there any way to make them all looking like it looks now in process of dialing: black background and light font, like it is on the international version of the Note 3

Try polling the seccontact.apk from an internacional rom it should work havent tried but i did it when i had the att s4

I do not speak for the dev but I think the answer will be "not in this thread".
The gap that existed between 4.2.x and 4.3 was kid play compared to the one between 4.3 and KitKat. Huge png's changes are leeding themers to redo all the source from scratch.
But it's just my thought.

I may say that your work is Good-To-Go for ANY i950x ODEX and DEODEX
And, if you permit, I would like to suggest removing from '\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script' all those ui_print lines, in the middle of the script, that mention another guy.

As you are ONLY dealing with PNG's replacements it's technically impossible to harm any device. The reports should be verified with clean install and known procedures.
When the time come, shortly I hope, to start modding xml's there will be the time to be careful with these kind of issues.
Just an last question that had already been made by @cuite_zhangh ... Are you decompiling and recompiling (using apktool or so) all those .9.png's ? Because from my own mistakes plainly stated here, that wi-fi thing may be happen to you for the same reasons.
Be welcome to if any advise needed.

One more suggestion, one thing the theme badly misses is the tw dialog divider line, since tw theme dosent supports dialo box divider why not try embed it on tw dialog middle png ? , if i get some time ill try to make it for u

AWESOME man!! Amazing theme, minimalist but looks elegant here. And good point is my wifi still working. Just find some glitch on notification toggle, i see green icon appear between i turn off/on the button. And i agree with @bela_gamer, maybe you can change the scrolling effect, with glowing effect or anything better. This one looks good but should be better and smoother fade effect.
