[Q] Why Is It Not Unlocking ? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What Happened ?

Same issue here, but no fix yet. At least, not that I saw.

Which version of the unlock utility did you use? 4.2.1 devices should use the v8 version according to the Asus website.

I don't know how do I find out
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app

It should be on the apk file you're using to unlock.
For example: Unlock_v8.apk

I'm using v8.2
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app

There isn't a v8.2 on the Asus support website. Where did you get your unlock apk?

Not sure if this may be the issue your having but if you have had your tablet rma'd this may be whats happening.

Not true.
I've rooted, while still having a locked bootloader.
If you're still on ICS can use 1-Click root v1.1 here
If you updated to JB, then not sure if you can root at the moment.

Just so there is no surprise, you will most likely start getting errors when it tries to push files to your device. It pushes to /data/local which no longer has write permissions for all users.

It doesn't work for the reasons stated in this thread. Just errors and an offer to exit at the end.
I'm still hoping someone will try to downgrade using fastboot since the updated boot loader has the USB option. If we can downgrade, we can easily root.

Not yet. Plenty of people are waiting on that.

Can't without unlock. Please search forums first
But if you decide to unlock, follow Krabappel's guide in General, works like a charm

is it feasible to downgrade to 4.0.4,then root ?

Already on JB or always on ICS ?
Already rooted ?
If you are on ICS, you can use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper for backup your root and Su.
When you update your TF300 on JB by OTA, restore your root with Voodoo.
That's what I've done.
Look this screenshots:

No, you can't downgrade at this time.
I had rooted my tf300t after US OTA upgrade forced...
I desinstall SuperUser and install SuperSU:
SuperSU on Android Market / Google Play (free)
SuperSU *Pro* on Android Market / Google Play (Pro/donate addon, requires free version)
Then I install TWRP for JB like you can see in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843694
And then I flash SuperSU.zip, and with SuperSu app intelled on device all goes well...
And if not, after do it, you can go to Setting of SuperSU and make in clean Reinstall or Change Super User APP, and :fingers-crossed: reboot the tablet...
That sounds like you had an unlocked bootloader. OP wants to root with locked.
Hi, Can a Brand new TF300T with JB be unlocked currently ?

Rooting on jb with locked bootloader is not possible at this time, unless you had root on a previous version before upgrading.

You said above that it was possible to unlock stock JB on brand new Asus by using the Asus downloadable but it clearly says this will only work for ICS on their site. Can stock JB be unlocked? My infuse was so much easier to do.

It clearly says that but in reality the same tool will unlock the bootloader if on jb. I'm proof this is so as I was and still am on stock jb, and it worked nicely.

Chances are that the description hasn't been updated to reflect the new JB update.
I thought that ICS and JB bootloaders where different, thus it wouldn't work, or am I wrong?

If you are on ICS, you can root without unlocking using the debugfs method
of. If you are on jb and want to root you must unlock the bootloader first, then follow step 3 of the rooting guide posted in the general section.

There are guides on the forum pertaining to rooting your device and installing a custom ROM. If you just want to root, this method seems to work:

Use motochopper, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228613
That method works for TF300T on Android 4.1 and 4.2.1.
Good Luck!

Yes you can/should be able to unlock your bootloader with the unlock app provided by asus.
Which unlock tool app to use will depend on which JB version your running, if on a JB 4.1 bootloader then you want to use the v7 tool, if on a JB 4.2 bootloader then you want to use the v8 tool - both of which can be found in the first post of the index thread here
