[App](Root) Sgs4 recovery flasher - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Hi there,
I wrote an app that makes it easy to flash a new recovery on your S4. It does require root.
Supported devices:
*GT-I9505
*GT-I9500
*GT-I9300
If your device isn't in the list above then the app wont be able to flash the recovery and it wont attempt to do so.
If you own a galaxy S3 or S4 and it isn't listed above then please install this app and press the Dump button so I can add support for that device.
The app supports the following filetypes:
*.img
*.tar
*.tar.md5
You can get it here:
Greetings,
Gamma91

Used this to flash the twrp recovery.
The app works fine and is easy to use! Gj!

Thx for your reply
I will add support for all other s4 devices soon and kernel flashing support

Great work, thanks.

Good job

Great work!

Very helpful. Now I need to go find a recovery to flash!

Unpack tar file downloaded from sgs4 oryginal android development. This tool work with *.img files.

You can also flash kernels.
/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 is boot.img
/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 is recovery.img

mmcblk0p10 is the efs partition on the gt-i9505 so flashing the recovery on there would be a bad move.
I will add support for kernels within the next few hours.
And if I have the partition information of the other s4 devices I will add those to the app.

The app currently doesnt support the SPH-L720. For that I would need the partition information of the phone
You could help me by:
ADB Shell/Terminal Emulator:
su
cd /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name
ls -l
And giving me the output of that. Either with a screenshot or just by copying the text

Support added for:
*GT-I9300
*GT-I9500
Partition dump feature added(with this feature you can help me supporting your device)
Code optimalisations
Support for .tar and tar.md5 added

Am I right in saying that if I just repackage the zip file without the s voice folder part it should work?
Or is it easier to just copy the files across to the relevant system folder? Which files or just all of them?
The other s voices in have tried don't work fully, hoping this one is different!

Follow step 2 if you flash the recovery that's enough
For root flash the zip in the thread.
Edit : I saw that the thread is deleted a ad the method by my tread
Replaced link first post
Not working on my phone. Ruined all the apps (Force Close all applications). Even the settings menu is not accesible. And notification area is not present anymore. I have to reinstall the rom now. Any idea what went wrong ? I have root and SU works fine (i have permitions to write system files).
PS: Funny thing : 'cause the phone app is not working when the phone rings the screen remains black . But when i unlock i can still see the missing calls . So i can make a call but i cannot close it =)) This would be a great thing for a prank 'cause i cant answer the phone either.
Problem in framework Res bro...check your baseband...framework Res gives forceclose if you on different baseband...only way to flash any zip on any baseband is deodexed ROM....

[GUIDE] [4.1] How to root and install CWM

GALAXY S II PLUS ROOTING AND CWM

PREREQUISITES:
-An I9105/P
-Odin3
-As usual, a brain
Click to collapse
NOTE:
Rooting will increase your binary counter.
ROOTING:
A) CWM (Thank you k2wl!!)
Download k2wl's CWM here.
Make sure you have Odin installed and Kies NOT running.
Boot your phone into Download mode by pressing: Vol.Down + Home + Power buttons all together.
Open Odin as an administrator.
Connect to PC using a USB cable.
Odin should show COM:X (X could be anything) on the left side which means your device is recognized.
Click on PDA and look for the file you downloaded (CWM file, should be named cwm_s2vep_k2wl.tar, or something along those lines) and choose it.
When Odin says Leave CS, press Start and wait, shouldn't take longer than 1-2 minutes.
Quick Note: This is not tested for I9105, but it theoretically should work.
B) Rooting
Download this file, and this file.
Place them both in your internal or external SD card.
Now reboot into recovery with the following combination: Vol.Up + Home + Power buttons all together.
Choose install zip from sd card, and choose external or internal, depending on where you put the root zip file in.
Flash the root zip "UPDATE-SuperSU.zip"
Flash "cwm-permanentor.zip"
Reboot
Done, you are now rooted!
UNROOTING AND REVERTING TO STOCK STATE:
Alright so, if you would like to unroot your phone and send it to warranty or sell it... Do the following.
Download Triangle Away by Chainfire from here.
Install it and use it to reset the binary counter.
Download the latest stock firmware for your device, make sure it's on the form of XX**** (e.g. XXAMC2). Non XX firmwares are fishy, and tend to brick devices sometimes. So get the latest firmware from live.samsung-updates.com. Always remember to choose the fimware with YOUR EXACT DEVICE MODEL.
Extract the .zip file from the download to attain a .tar.md5 fie.
Flash it using Odin.
After the firmware has flashed and the device reboots, delete root-related apps like Superuser (might or might not be there), and such.
Done, you are now back to stock state
We've just retired method 1 (prerooted firmwares).
Stick to the SuperSU method... easier and faster, no errors.

Do you see a COM:## sign on the left? Where ## is any number (the port in which you connected your phone). If yes then proceed normally as instructed in the OP. If not then try connectimg your phone to Kies software. It should download the S2 Plus USB drivers then. If that doesn't work try a different USB cable. If that doesn't work either try a different computer. Good luck

Hi,
I use also Philz touch recovery and never had a problem flashing it!
Extract the files and push them to system/media using root explorer or something similar.
Or just update your recovery and try again.
I saw a post awhile back showing that when the s5 is off and u put it to charge there is a new animation
