[Q] USB Not Working =[

This has been happening ever since I flashed my phone a second time. First time was from stock to MIUI (USB worked with MIUI), but when I flashed it to I think GB it just stopped working. Whenever I plug it into my computer, all it does is charge my phone... I tried multiple USB ports, none of them work, all of them just charge my phone... Help?
EDIT:
I just restored my phone, I'm on Firmware 2.3.6; Build#: GINGERBREAD.UCKJ4

same thing pretty much, but with a stock rom.
about a week ago my phone would not charge from an outlet very well, it was like i didnt even have it plugged in, it's gotten worse since then...
when i was able to get it to charge from a wall outlet it would go into usb mode, and that was if i was lucky.
now it wont even charge from a wall outlet and i have to charge it from my computer.
i would try to update my phone to the new 2.3 version but my computer wont recognize my phone, i keep getting an error message saying "One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it."
i've tried to put it in kies mode and debugging mode and the rest of the modes allowed but still nothing.
i did a factory reset and it still does the same thing(and i lost EVERTHING on my phone but my contacts)
any ideas??

I have the exact same problem. I have tried installing Kiesmini, the samsung usb drivers directly and tried on mac and pc with different cables.
The cables function normally with blackberry's and samsung galaxy ace but the infuse refuses is not recognized by the pc. also the phone does not recognize that it is connected which usually shows a prompt for USB.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I am on 2.2.1 stock Froyo and I am unable to root because of not having connectivity to usb through the computer for Superoneclick to recognize. Also, i tried z4root several times to no avail.

Need Help With Bricked Phone

My infuse is running the latest version of revelation.
So basically my infuse was being really screwy and it somehow ended up getting bricked. So I began to take all the steps to unbrick it, but the problem is my phone doesn't connect to USB, so it isn't recognized by odin. The USB hasen't been working for a while. I've tried different cords, different computers and i can't seem to get it to work. So now I don't know what to do.
Any suggestions?
Can you phone boot into download mode?
Have you tried cleaning the pins on the USB connector?

Sorry for not replying right away.
So I am able to get into download mode, and i did clean the USB connector.
It won't turn on, and it just blinks every couple seconds when it's plugged in. So my problem is that the USB won't work. I've tried heimdall, odin, many drivers, nothing seems to work.
try using different cables, ports, or even computers

Phone not being seen by any PC

So this issue started a few days ago. Any time I plugged my phone in it would constantly connect and disconnect from the pc. I've tried multiple usb cables, ports, and the 3 PCs I have with the same result on each. Now when I plug it in, it is no longer being recognized by the PC, Odin, ADB, etc... It will charge but that is it.
I have a warranty replacement coming to me however I need to be able to get this one back to stock... Any suggestions?
Before anyone asks, NO it has never been wet, dropped, damaged in any way, set on fire, caught in a land slide, earthquake, what have you.. The phone itself functions perfectly fine. All drivers are up to date, none of my PCs configurations have changed. I have one I use specifically for app development and not even that one will see the phone.
I had the same problem. I used a different cable and it all worked better....now with that said it happened again so I flashed my phone back to stock and all was well.
Then went to flashing ROMS.

Really check out the micro usb cable. A bad cable will just about always allow a device to charge, but data transfer is another story. If you really have tried a few micro USB cables, then it the problem relies elsewhere. Try restarting both phone and PC, and if neither works, sounds like you have a busted port on the Skyrocket.
Thank you both for your responses. I am a PC technician so I followed my usual troubleshooting steps to figure this out. I narrowed it down to either all of my cables are bad (not a chance) or the phone is just f**ked (likely). Ah well ill have to try to use another way to force the stock firmware and recovery on here. Lol
HTC = Hate The Consumer
I use my old Nokia OEM USB cable. Connects with the right number of pins on the USB connection end. I'd check your USB cables for # of pins . Skyrocket uses 5 I believe. Also that there is sufficient power to your USB ports. Aka avoid front USB ports which could only be 4 pin....

When you plug the usb cable in, do you see the usb icon at the top left of your screen? I have to pull that window down to tell it to connect to pc, then confirm it again before mine connects. Mine doesn't auto connect on its own.
I see you've been a member for a few years so if its not connecting, that really sucks man. Hope you get it figured out.

Not running the AOKP ROM are you? The R3 build had an issue with this, and all AOKP will disable USB to PC if you enable 'fast charge' under ROM Control...
Good luck :S
According to what I've been reading you can try using the *#7284# code and setting the USB portion from PDA to MODEM and then back to PDA and it would kickstart the connection. No dice for me though. Ive been through 7 different USB cables already.. I am not about to go and buy one just to keep playing with it my other phones connect just fine using the same cables. No, I am running the latest Sky ICS

Infuse 4g USB problem

When I plug my USB cable into my computer and then into my phone the phone does not recognize the computer and vice versa. It will charge, but that is it. A few weeks ago I tried an AOKP rom which has "fast charge" I set this setting to be on to test it out and then turned it off. Ever since then I have not been able to transfer files with the cable plugged in, so I used AirDroid to wirelessly do it. I remember something in the warning about it, but I thought when you format/wipe and flash a new rom it corrects the issue. I have flashed a completely new rom since then and still nothing. Any help would be nice, thanks.
Try going back to stock through Odin or heimdal

How are you supposed to Odin/heimdall, if it doesn't connect even during download mode?

Lol didn't think of that...when I had my infuse I had the same problem with the stock USB cable...after a while data transfer stopped and it became a charge only cable...I would use my dads cable that worked perfect for data transfer...
So try a different USB cord or try a different USB port...

You can try this too
Hi, I faced this issue few times and tried several options like change cable/port/computer and worked.
One thing Recently i noticed when all of the above failed in my case is :- 1 Development->Uncheck the USB debug mode, 2. Check Mass Storage in USB connection setting. ( you need to unplug usb cable while doing it)
Now try connecting and give few minutes. If you can see the USB mass storage notification you are good to go. Go back and change the Debug mode as Checked.
It worked for me couple of times hope it may work for you too.

Sounds like the dreaded USB port failure. Many Infuse users have gone through this as its a known issue. I returned mine and got a replacement via warranty.

Hey There,
We had the same issue with many units and solved all by doing the following:
-Flashing the unit back to stock
-Performing a factory data reset after flashing(This is a must)
Note: Even though your device will not connect to the computer in PDA mode you should still be able to connect in download mode so it can be flashed with ODIN.(Unless if it's hardware related)

[Q] Sidekick 4g detects usb but doesn't charge battery?

My Sidekick 4G is able to detect the charger (when charger is connected, the red light is on), but it does not charge the battery.
I have tried
-using a few different chargers
-plugging the phone to the computer
Can you help identify the problem for me please? Could the problem be the charging port or the battery? The only way I am able to use my phone is by using an external battery charger.
Thank you
It sounds like either you have usb cable issue or a usb port issue. I had a simular problem with my wife's computer to find out the port wasn't powered. Switched usb port and haven't had an issue since.

If the information I see is correct, you have a hardware problem: the USB port is the most likely suspect.
It's probably time for a new phone.
i did try different usb cables(3 different ones to be exact) and different usb ports
i even tried on a different computer
thanks for the reply guys
Try a different battery. If this doesn't work either, try a different phone.
Yeah, i bought a battery online 2 days ago. I am waiting it to arrive in the mail. Thanks
