How to run apps on a microSD card for the S4 - Galaxy S 4 General

I came across this today and thought I'd share it. Let me know what you think guys.......
Ooops! Check out thedroidguy(dot)com. I can't post links yet!
The app is called AppMgr Pro III and the article was written yesterday!

Not working. Please test before post it.

No.
Does not work.
The old name is app2sd.
It is nothing more than a more convenient interface for the normal move to SD feature on android.
For Samsung devices, it will only move to internal SD.
You will need root access to deal with such things properly to the external SD.
Search for link2sd or FolderMount instead, or flash some mod that switches the internal and external SD.

Is there any application that can move apps to sd card without root permision?
These three above can't do this...

With the S3 there was a mod, that the micro sd became the "internal" memory and vice versa. Perhaps we will see this for the S4 as well

OK! I just rooted my Galaxy S4 yesterday so I'm hoping that will broaden my chances of finding something that works!

Solution found!

I hate that Samsung does this crap forcing you to buy the more expensive phone because you can't install apps on the SD card, it's ridiculous to sell several storage options when you can expand with your SD card anyway, it's also ridiculous that you have 9GB available from 16GB.

There is a working solution which will also update the apps directly on the SD card. Since I can't post links yet the app is called 'FolderMount' search for a thread called '[How to] Moving Apps to SD Card' by Eambo.

Why cant i use my sd card?

I have a 16gb s3 and 16gb SD card I wanted to either move my music or apps but I can't figure out how my phone recognizes the SD but for some reason its seems unusable. Is there some setting I'm missing or is my SD card corrupt?

not sure i understand your question exactly... but i can say that certain programs are not able to utilize the sd card in our phones. this was new for me coming from a motorola. the way samsung refers to the internal "sd card" vs your added external sd card is different so a number of programs will look at the internal memory as the SD Card instead of your actual SD Card.
that said, you can bypass this with a program the binds the directory on the internal storage that the program is looking for to a directory on your SD Card.
search my posts... i posted the link to the program (not mine) in another thread. it's working great for me with MOG. before, all my music had to be on the internal storage for mog to read it. now, with the directory bind program i have all my music on my external sd card and mog reads the files just fine.
hope that helps!
Well I downloaded app2sd and it says this device does not have a primary external storage. It does not even recognize my sd

No, since the OS won't allow apps2sd because it uses MTP

Read this below.... The device uses MTP so it will not see your external SD card in the slot by ICS design...what you want it the UMS the USB mass storage where the device used the SD card to save data...but the Samsung now has 16GB internal storage so it presents a problem...
This app was written to resolve that issue... Also there is a link to explain this deeper than what I am doing....

Well I figured out how to get files from my Mac to my sd card using android file transfer. I transferred some videos and the stock video play found them right off. The only problem is that I can find the folder that there in using file manager. Its like a ghost SD card I can't find it anywhere but at least I can transfer and delete them now I just need my computer to do it.

Apps to SD (Can We???)

Hi all XDA Folk...
I am wondering if there is a easy way to use the sd card as storage, I know you cant use the old app2sd applications you get from the market and you can use directory bind to do something similar.....but is there an easy way or better way to do it?
I found this post and wondering if this would work on the tab 7.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668247
Please could someone shed some light on this, thank you
I used directory bind once and it was not clear, moved the files and all and got a message when opening games....(Download data) so the data had not moved correctly or I could be doing something wrong.
Thanks Again!
and what purpose would it serve? This isn't like the HTC hero/magic (or some pre 1ghz) devices anymore
I want to know also if there is a method to move apps to sd, my 16gb p6800 soon to running out of internal space.

Yes sir, thats my issue as well
I would just like to know if there is a way to get around this and if so....how?
Thank you kindly XDA and the RealGangaMan*

Sad to say you cant... If you go to settings>applications>manage application>click on one of the apps you want to move on the sd card ull notice only 3 options... Force stop, uninstall, clear data... No option for Move to phone/sd card. Why? As far as I know for a certain apps to function you need to keep it stored in the tabs internal memory and not on the sd card just to save space... Try installing games thats requiring you to download additional sd data like nova 3 after downloading the game data try to move it on the sd card and launch the app again and itll ask you to download the sd data again..
Hope this help..
P.s. Correct me if im mistaken..
Apparently app2sd doesn't work on our tablet, I am using link2sd instead.

Not all apps can be moved to the SD Card.
To do so you will need to partition your SD Card and use Link2SD or any other App2SD script.
Here is a good tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459

I want to use all of the 32GB SD card for apps, media, etc storage.
I have spent all night parting my SD card using minitool partition wizard prof. edition.
I followed the instructions but the link2sd app and the other app2sd apps will not work or they stop working.
Its as if my Galaxy 3 is programmed to work against it.
Can someone tell me step by step what I need to do, or link me to a video or article?

GS3 or G3. What I did was, partitioned my SD card from recovery. Of course I had root access. Downloaded link2sd. Created mount script. Restart. Then linked as many apps I could. I think I missed some insignificant steps.
Hi, please take note I'm a noob, still learning, don't no if this will help, I have rooted a HTC desire and last night rooted my galaxy S3 , the desire has a very small internal memory, so to force more space I moved apps to my 16gb micro chip just by using titanium back up, last night on my S3 I moved 34 apps to sd card by the same process.
Don't really know if this is correct but all is still working fine

I am new to Android os and this forum as well so I would be really glad if anyone of you would be kind enough to help.
My Galaxy Grand has 8gb memory of which only 4gb is available to the user and I am left with just 800mb space left, I would like to know if anyone of you can let me know a way to transfer my apps to sd card, also I have hears that one can convert sd card to internal memory after rooting, is that possible, if yes then plese let me know how, also is it possible to transfer apps to sd card without rooting if so plsase let me know how, I would be eagerly looking for a reply.

I'm not really familiar with that device but on most you can grab App2Sd from Google Play and it's self explanatory from there, but some devices (like mine) don't et you move apps to the SD Card, but you can move everything else there
And I'm no moderator, but I'm not so sure this isn't the right section for your question, I think it belongs in Q and A

After rooting you can use Directory Bind to link your internal/external storage, but that's not truly moving them to the SD Card, but I think it's the closest you can get. I don't bother with it, I just move all my big files to my SD Card so I have space for my APK's on my internal storage

without rooting u cant have memory swap..root ur grand and install init.d support. and reboot then install this http://d-h.st/AGR and gain reboot. this will convert external memory to internal and internal to external automatically.
use http://galaxygrandcenter.blogspot.in/2013/03/warning-it-will-void-your-warranty-and.html to root.
and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39510406&postcount=1 to add init.d

Thank you sir for the help, I have succesfully rooted my phone throught that guide, though there was a little trouble geeting the Clock Work Mode Recovery but finally got it.
Sir can you tell me the actual usage of CWM, can i get backup of my present status through this mode or do i need to use some app like Titanium Backup pro for that purpose and what info would actually be backed up, like would it store info of the present firmware and is the backup point created in the internal memory or the sd card.
Also sir can you please tell me that if I swap my 32gb ext sd card with 4gb internal memory then when I want to get my phone back to normal mode then how am I gonna do so, I mean the sd card would have let's say some 25gb apps and I want to put the phone back to normal, I mean unswap it then how would it be possible as my internal memory would be only 4 gb, will I have to delete apps or use some recovery option, please make that clear, thank you sir for all your help.

No, there isn't an option to move to the actual sd card just between the internal storage and phone storage.

There's no option to move apps to the actual SD card, just between the internal storage and phone storage ..they call the internal storage the SD card. I've talked to them on the phone too ..most of them don't know what they are talking about.
On a side note a lot of people have this problem with a lot of other phones.
