I'm starting this thead bcz we can discuss best apps for same purpose... and new users can directly try them without much trouble for finding
as there are millions of apps on play store it is very difficult to find appropriate app which is best for some work and every one must try it. may be u all tried lots of apps (as me:silly so we can share our experience & use D best .:laugh:

Video MX and MOBO equally good. MOBO plays all my videos
Note taking: Keep , Evernote
Ereaders: Kobo, aldiko, fb reader
Dictionary : Fora is good and it integrates with ebook readers
Also give alternates among equally good apps

Some Apps that I recommend are:
1)NoLED- It displays notifications(missed calls, messages, any other app notifications, etc.) on your screen when it is locked. This is useful for devices without notification LEDs and works best on AMOLED screens(battery drain is low if only some pixels are activated).
2)Tasker- with this, you can fully automate your phone.you can set it to do many things like change to silent, flight etc based on conditions you choose
3)widgetsoid- this app lets you create custom widgets and shortcuts... The swipe feature is awesome(you touch any preset corner of your screen and it opens a shortcut menu- it works anytime the screen is on)

I don't think it should be in App. section bcz it is for general purpose & no moded apps or any thing like that , so every one can easily find it if it is in General Section

Hiya everyone. This type of thread isn't new to XDA as it's on almost every device fora, but I decided to bring it over here aswell.
I'm going to share the most useful applications to have on a One S and would like you to share your must have apps. If an app gets mentioned by numerous people, that isn't on this list, I'll be sure to add it.
1. Power Toggles - This is simply the best toggle app around. Able to toggle lots of main features.
2. Picsay Pro - This is a brilliant photo editor, but limited compared to some others. My personal favourite.
3. Rotation Locker - WYSIWYG. It locks your screen to either Portrait or Landscape. Really useful on some apps.
4. XDA App ICS Blue Colours/Themed - Our favourite forum app but with a complete red or blue colour theme thanks to our own Whiskey103
5. Memory Usage - Lists all current apps and tells you current memory usage, peak memory usage and priorities.
6. Desktop Visualizer - Makes shortcuts or widgets using a custom image and can be used to make custom icons.
7. PowerAmp - The most powerful music player there is.
8. Superuser - Grant and manage Superuser right for your phone. *ROOT*

I had used it on my xu (bit laggy on ics) .. and yes it functioned well.. bt I choosed all apps haphazardly so had much trouble wid keyboard not popping up ..

I heard Greenify is really good (based on the Google Play Store comments) for lag reduction, but I've never used it because I have little-no lag.

Greenify is great at battery life especially when used with better battery stats. You can hibernate apps that are causing your phone to wake up or ones that run in the background.

I'd really like to get the ownership of this thread .
If need info PM .
Now that I am on 4.2.2, DashClock widget and extension series is a must for me.
Along with it, a third party launcher app like Apex or Nova is a must for UI customisations, also WidgetLocker.
For root, SetCPU is a must too. Great battery saver for 4.1.2, but not on 4.2.2 as I try recently.
For daily tasks, GTasks is a must for me to organise things better.
I don't like bright screen in dark place, so Screen Filter works perfectly for me to dim the screen further. It works by applying a layer of black wallpaper with transparency over the screen.
Last but not the least, EasyTouch (Apple's assistive touch-like) improves the lifespan for my home and power button (I guess?).
Have you guys heard about Unicon/Icon Themer? It allows you to use those icon themes what are usually for launchers only. I like it and it really works. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sg.ruqqq.IconThemer

Well Can anyone tell me the best app to backup all my apps, settings and specially the way I arrange my App Icons ?
Cause I keep on experimenting with my phone and flash it again and again. So installing all the apps and games again and again is hectic. And arranging all the icons too !

You can do it via CWM. Go to advanced restore. Select "restore data".

Well so it means I make the backup via CWM too right?
I'm on 4.1.2 right now. I make backup via CWM and then Flash latest 4.2.2. Root again and recover.
That's it? Will the different Android version create problem?
