Hi everybody i was wondering if there was any developer that could help me learn how to develop some roms and stuff for the sgs4g i really want to help. I'm 14 help me please need step by step instructions!!

I'm just trying to learn how to make roms and kernels so if i wanted to make a rom my way with everything i want with a kernel that i made i would post it and let everybody try im a noob sorry... im just trying to make roms and kernels

well knowing how to read configure and install via source helps along with compileing kernels.. Hince why linux exp is a major plus

get eclipse get the android sdk set them up also get the samsung sorce code from Samsung have a look at it
get fimmilar with complying your own kernels from source so on so forth read learn ask questions.
Dont be afraid of soft bricks

ok i will dual boot linux with windows but i have no programming experience i will be taking classes in highschool but for now nothing so i need some major help thanks for helping! Any linux OS? Which one? i need link thanks! Also need to learn c++ Thanks......HELP!

ubuntu is easy to learn.. Read read everything best advice i can give the reason i stated eclipse is u can test of a fake phone via the program without fear of killing ur own device for apps and what not lol thats always a plus

You'll wanna learn Java, specifically, Object Oriented Programming. Stick to one of the more popular Linux distributions since it'll be easier to get your computer set up and deal with driver problems and the like. For now, maybe Ubuntu would be your best choice.

Come on, don't blame on me,but do you have any ideas of Linux otherwise this will be a thread with only HOW-TO install Linux and how to fetch repo and mod them to destroy the main reason they were build. TO WORK ON YOUR PHONE !
I don't want to be rude! Im only think that it is senseless to learn first android devin, when you never used Linux befor :/

This is not my work but i found digging into google and XDA. So thanks to all who is part of this development directly or indirectly.

I hope people are not going to waste theyr time on an sdk dump port for Jelly Bean.

some dudes have made it from a galaxy nexus given at IO for the regular galaxy nexus and the htc one x

I tried all night last night to get a booting port but as close a I come was getting a version that just boot loops. ADB is not working so no logcats to help me out. I am going to work on it some more this evening still trying to rest some right now. There is a member that posted in the thread in the Sensation General forum saying they are porting it and posted a pic of a Sensation with what looks like the Nexus splash screen or bootanimation, see here. But I am not to sure how creditable this is, I need more prof before I believe them. I think I am going to just pull the Galaxy Nexus ROM by Team Inferno apart and see if it tells me anything.

prob the usual bugs when porting, wifi erros, audio erros, minimal things like that but it just gonna be a taste rom for android flasher lovers

After flashing this ROM my Wifi stopped working.. I could not "ON" my Wifi in Setting. Kindly help.. ? :crying:

Read the op as it'll key you know all jb rooms have a wifi and data issue and are not meant to be used as daily drivers

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1 :laugh: so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.

Thread Ownership Change
I am turning the ParanoidAndroid thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.

Download link has been taken down because it was an unstable alpha build. Thomas is most likely working his butt off to fix this ROM. Please be patient until it gets fixed. In the mean time, check out the PACman ROM. It is a mashup of Paranoid, CM and AOKP.

When PA pulled the source code from their repository I was dead in the water. I haven't been in contact with anyone from TFQ in over a month so I'm not sure if Mr. Raines has made any progress.

Is it possible to just port PA? I know the first answer to that would be for me to try myself, but I don't have access to a good 64 bit computer running Linux and I am not allowed to change our only 64 bit computer to Linux or even touch it considering that it is my dad's. I understand that PACman is a thing, because I have recommend it to others before, but I would like to have just plain PA. Just a thought with a nice long monologue about why I can't attempt it myself. That is unless someone would like to inform me that it is possible to port on a 32 but computer xD

If you could touch your dad's PC you could at least install VMWare or Oracle Box and run it in a VM. lol.

If someone "Hint Hint" Dr4stic could get our phone in the commit tree then we could start getting night lies but it would take him getting us in officially again but I think he's done with our phone now except for kernel work

Talked to Racing19969 earlier today and he said he's got it built, but no display when it boots. Just as dr4stic said the msm 8660 devices are in the dark right now. The Hercules t989 shares the same problem. Just be patient, it'll come. If not our device than maybe eventually a port. Keep an eye on the t989 cm 10.1 discussion too.

Thanks for the info. I've been wondering about this myself.

I just ported CM 10.1 but it won't boot properly, after the samsung screen it's just black, and nothing happens. So if anyone is willing to help me PM me about it, I really want 4.2 on this phone already

what did you port it from?

Galaxy S II, I think its kernel that needs to be changed but which kernel to use? I tried blue lightning and lightning zap both don't seem to work

It wont be that easy bro it takes alot of coding to use a rom from another phone theres alot of different things about the 2 phones our kernels will never work with s2s roms they have totally diff partition setups and lots of different things... And if u read the s2 forums ud see they dont even have 10.1 running yet thereselves its black screen hell so a port from that phone would have the same results even if it was successful... Cm10.1 is real unstable right now even for alot of way more popular phones weve got a long time before well see a stable or even semi usable alpha build... Not to sound like a **** but u need a Real Rom Dev (like Dr4stic) and a Real good Kernel writer (chad.goodman) for us to get close to 10.1 for the blaze
Thats why u didnt see us porting ICS roms from the S2 before we got the i577 rom and official ICS just 2 different

Been trying to work on it some more but getting major errors downloading source:
remote: aborting due to possible repository corruption on the remote side.
fatal: early EOF
fatal: index-pack failed
error: Cannot fetch CyanogenMod/android_prebuilt
looks like some cm-10.1 repo's may be corrupt

If you give me instructions, I can try. I've got the aosp master source already downloaded, I just need to fix my java, I
Have the open version( iced tea) . Already have a working_directory created.

Use oracle jbats.

IDK if this will work for the blaze or not, but I read that removing a file named Qcom boot splash (which I haven't been able to locate yet in source) fixes the black screen after boot. Not sure if it will allow CM10.1 to boot or not though...

10.3 doesn't exist yet, and I don't really know much about Ubuntu Touch, other than the vague statements I made in that other thread.
I thought it was just a bunch of PNG's, really just stubs... Perhaps it's different now? I haven't looked into it personally.

I've been checking out some of the DIY cm Rom tutorials on youtube. I might try and see if I can get it to work. I did at one time manage to get the actual Ubuntu 12.4 img to run on the Q and was able to still use the phone with it and data. Can we just pair down the img to run faster and smoother?

i get it booted but on the lockscreen i cant get to home.
i flashed this 2 zips
