Has anyone recently purchased a car charger for their HTC Desire that is capable of keeping the phone charged while GPS navigation software is in use? I'm looking for one which is available through ebay or an online UK retailer.
Thanks
I bought a 5V 2A cigarette lighter to usb adaptor from Maplins, it kept my phone charged on a 3 hour drive using navigation with satellite imagery. I don't know if the data lines are tied, I'm gonna check soon because if the phone detects that the data lines are tied it pulls more current from the charger.
I can't find it on their site though, I got it from my local store.

I've seen some potentially good chargers on the Maplin site but unfortunately they do not deliver to Malta. Do you know of any other UK-based retailers that carry Maplin products?

Ah, no I don't know of any other places that stock Maplin products.
If you do a google search for "5V 2A usb car charger" it pulls up quite a few. I would post links but alas, new user.

My google search didn't return any UK sites so I ordered one off ebay from Hong Kong with a retractable USB cable. Will see how it goes. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
From last few days, the charger for my Nexus 5 is charging my phone very slowly (around 10-15% in an hour). I tried using my friend's charger (Nexus 5) and it was working properly.
I called Google Play support and they asked me to perform some troubleshooting steps (like running phone in Safe Mode etc..). I performed those steps and issue was still present and I responded them the same. I also conveyed them about phone being charging using different Nexus 5 charger. After that, they replied me with steps to be taken to replace the product. But they have specified to ship whole device i.e. phone alogn with all accessories.
Has anyone replaced any of their phone's accessory before? Here the issue is clearly with charger only so why do I need to ship the whole device?

I'm was facing the exact same problem with my nexus 5. I was also told to pack up everything and ship the device. So i called google and they told me that, I'll get the brand new device even if my charger is at fault. I dont know why they dont just change the charger instead of giving the whole new phone.
PS: My device was just picked up by courier and i will get the new nexus 5 in 2 days :fingers-crossed:
If I were you, I would throw away the stock charger and get the official nexus charger from the playstore (if you think it's worth it) or the blackberry folding blade charger which you can find in the accessories section. It's really not worth swapping your perfectly working device for a new one just because of a charger and seeing that the Nexus 5 is prone to some issues, I would certainly think 10 times before replacing it.

Well, the folding blade charger mentioned in the accessories section looks different. The amazon product page also doesn't specify the charging speed of the charger. Looks fishy to me.
Why don't you order it from the ".com" website?
funny, my charger also started doing the same thing (charging ridiculously slow) about a week ago. Didn't bother about warranty though.

Don't RMA for a charger when your phone is perfectly fine. The stock charger is slow,
http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-AC...8-4&keywords=blackberry+folding+blade+charger are the chargers we're talking about they're 1.8A.

samsung sales reps are as clueless as most retail store reps. you can probably find better info by searching the net.
this should work....

-nevermind, its not the same.
The fast charger has dual voltage output. One of the outputs is 9v. I'm fairly sure this is the fast charge element.
Doesn't matter how high the mA rating is for the 5v chargers they will not trigger the fast charge process.
I'm gonna keep looking and post here when I find something!
Scroll to the bottom of this page and there are links to the Quick Charge 2.0 adapter manufacturers.

Step 1 - look at the charger that came with your Note 4. If you don't have one, ask someone who does.
Step 2 - locate part number printed on the charger.
Step 3 - Google said part number.

Absolutely not. This is just a regular charger. Rapid charging is not the same thing as adaptive fast charging. Rapid charging is just a function of the 2amp output, vs 0.5amp on old school usb chargers. Rapid charging is 4+ years old technology, and is the standard charger you find almost everywhere.
Ah this really sucks, i had one nicked a few days ago in a hostel in Romania, i will settle for unoffical if anyone has found one?

Register your Phone with Samsung.. they will send you a 50% off coupon. Use this to buy as many OEM batteries as you wish.. $20 is cheap for factory battery.
EDIT. Sry I was speaking about the battery rather than the charging cable. But you should also be able to gr the cable from Samsung as well with the coupon code
Are we able to use the Note 4 charger on other things like Bluetooth and such?
Wondering if it would damage them from charging too fast if it does.
Maybe I'm expecting too much, but the way I understand Qi wireless charging is you should be able to use any combination of transmitter/receiver you wish and it should just work.
Well, as I'm sure some of you are aware, that does not appear to be the case with the Note 4. I have tried two 3rd party receivers with different bases and have been unable to achieve any sort of consistency.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PUA06TA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OFKS66G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Above are the 3rd party receivers I've tried. You either have to off center the receiver with the base, or find a sweet spot that makes it look like if you so much as sneeze the wrong way the phone will fall off. NOT ideal. Most 3rd party receivers I have looked at employ a similar design.
Or you have a situation like mine where a base just won't work due to alignment issues. This is the case with the iOttie Easy Flex Wireless Car Charging Mount. The coil in the receiver sits too far to the left (screen facing you), and there's no way to align with the coil on the iOttie properly.
Here's the funny part. I have ZERO issues with the OEM Charging Cover. This thing where Qi is supposed to be universal may be true, but there are strings attached. Until there are no strings, I can't see how phone manufacturers can take it seriously...
I hope that the upcoming Galaxy S6 handles this better than that. It looks promising. It wouldn't be the sole reason I switch to it, but I can do a slightly smaller screen, don't necessarily need the pen, but they are nice. I just wish wireless charging was handled better....
I use the OEM Wireless charging cover and a Nokia base. I have had no issues at all. I would stay away from those cheap Chinese adapter coils. They seem very easy to break, they don't fit well with the stock cover, and are more prone to errors. They only sell for a couple dollars in China so don't expect much.

I don't mind that it doesn't charge as fast. That said how can companies like Tylt claim that their chargers can charge just as fast as wired?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DG8NUC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
From the FAQ page on Tylt's website:
Q: How long does it take to charge my phone with the VU?
A: The VU is designed to provide as much power as your standard USB charger (1 Amp) and will charge as fast as your USB charger as long as your phone is designed to accept that much power.
http://tylt.com/faq/#vu
Granted, Quick Charge 2.0 is most likely not in there, but doesn't that only work up to 50%?

Wireless charging is not as fast as wired charging but it sure is convenient. I hate having to plug and unplug the phone all day. With wireless charging I just make it a habit to always leave it on the charging pad when I can. That way my phone is always at 100% when I leave. My OEM fast charger is still in the box unused. I got a deal on the Nokia pads a year or so ago and only paid $5 a piece for them direct from AT&T. At that price it's easy to place them in multiple locations such as the living room, bedroom, office, car, etc.

I have the same QI pad in ur first link. Works gr8 on mine. Now I'm using a different receiver. The first one I bought was the same slmpwrcard u got. Lots of issues with it, until it just quite. When it was kinda working, hit or miss, I measured the voltage the receiver sent to battery when connected with charger. It was low. Should be 5v, I was getting right at 4v, now it only puts out 1.7v, and won't even work. Below is the one I bought to replace. Works perfect! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P48BIFY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have 7 QI chargers, and they all work well. By the way, the QI pad u linked is a 3 coil. Also it only makes sense u may have to put the phone on QI charger a lil offcenter because the coil in receiver is offcenter.....
I bought the Yoo Tech wireless receiver and LagaLake wireless charging pad. There's a slight bulge in the back of the phone and I have to put the phone on the charging pad slightly off center. In the end, it was more work than just plugging the phone in. So, I'm back to using my fast charger. I'll have to get the official Samsung wireless charging back and see if it works better.
Just wondering the best set up for qi, receiver and pad that work well together. Thanks guys

Technically, any receiver will work well with any charger. The thing you need to look for is a charger that can output 5V at 1A. Pretty much every charger will have that rating so it's hard to mess that one up. As far as the receiver goes, the higher the current output the better (measured in "ma"). And by "better" I mean the phone will charge faster. I have a 1A (1000ma) receiver in my Note 4. It charges pretty quickly, but interferes with NFC. Also, a higher current for a receiver typically means it will also be thicker, making the back of your phone bulge more.
Which charger and receiver are the most durable/well built is a much more difficult question to answer as there are so many to pick from. Just think about how you want to use it, do you want your phone tilted up at you while it's charging? Do you want a super grippy pad so your phone won't walk off the pad when it vibrates? Do you want it to be portable like the mobile pal 2 in 1? The best charger for you will be dependant on how you answer those questions.
Similar questions need to be asked for the receiver. Do you want it to work with NFC? Will you generally just use wireless charging to charge overnight? If so you can get away with a smaller, lower current receiver since you won't need quick charging. If you'll be charging throughout the day you'll want to get a receiver with a higher current rating.
Well, that answer was longer than I originally intended. But I hope it helps!
Thanks TM that's a lot to go on. But a lot of useful information
From my research online, the CHOETECH Stadium seems to be one of the best rated chargers (if you're not going for the official Samsung setup). I've ordered one and am awaiting its arrival, along with the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OFKS66G
The CHOETECH Stadium has 3 coils as opposed to some chargers that only have one - from what I've read that makes for faster charging and less problems positioning the phone correctly. This is my first foray into wireless charging though, so I'm only repeating what I've read online, not speaking from experience
I use fonesalesman powercard, and my trusty Nokia Qi charger. The thing is you have to find the right spot for the Qi receiver and charger to line up, then it will charge as it should.

Glad you got sorted out and it's working well. Just got the CHOETECH Stadium (which is also 3 coils) set up and the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard installed. So far very impressed - the card is unnoticeable except for that slight bulging below the flash, which isn't really visible at all in a case. You can basically 'throw' the phone down onto the charging pad without having to worry too much about positioning. So far I have only used the CHOETECH connected to a PC USB port, not a wall adapter, but even at that, with the phone powered on, I got 10% of charge in an hour (65%-75%). Expecting even better results tonight with the CHOETECH plugged into the Samsung charger and the phone off. In any case, it's great to have that trickle charge while you're sitting working at the computer, without having to plug in. Yay for wireless charging
EDIT: Got just over 10% in half an hour with the charger plugged into the Samsung adaptor, and charging through a UAG case. :good:
EDIT 2: Charged phone overnight from 1% to 100%, it took approximately 5 hours. Good thing is there were no beeps or sounds from either the phone or the charger, and no noticeable 'hum' from the charger either - so good for bedside usage
