[Q] how to enable USB Mass Storage on CM10 - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

how do I activate usb mass storage UMS on CM10 ?
i just fin MTP and PTP on my setting...
anybody can help me for this problem ?

I was never able to find it anywhere on the ROM, you're meant to be able to press the menu button in storage and change it from there but I couldn't find it. What do you need it for and what phone are you using?

Use this code in the terminal what is installed with CM10;
su
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb
reboot
That changes it to mass storage mode when you connect it to the PC, slide down the notifcation bar and click on the notification, enable mass storage mode and when you are finished enter this code into the terminal to change it back to MTP;
su
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mtp,adb
reboot

software update for st21i

I don't know then, the first code should have changed it while you were moving your stuff and the second should have put it back to CM10 mode when you finished.

Upgrade your Windows Media Player to Windows Media Player 11, it will add the support for MTP devices.

[Q] Unable to root Tried everything

Hi ,
My micromax A110 is Jelly bean 4.1.1(pre installed) Stock recovery mode and Unrooted.
I tried to root from my windows machine using a Batch file by Bin4ry, but it didnt work.
Error -> mount permission denied (are you root?)
I also tried to root with superSU.zip from stock recovery mode but that didnt work because it needs CWM recovery mode.
Now that i am trying to flash recovery to install CWM recovery from SP tool (flash tools)
I am getting :
Error -> BROM ERROR : S_DA_SOC_CHECK_FAIL (3013)
Can anyone help ? Please dont just visit and ignore, post something if you have come across anything like this and you can help.
Are you sure you had selected the Enable USB Debugging in your settings?
Dude you are not having proper adb driver installed for your device. Install the correct drivers , if your device is listed as an adb device in device manager while connected to your PC, you are good to go with binary batch method.

Should i try another pc ? because i tried to install and uninstall many devices.
I also installed MT6577 drivers.!
One thing i observed ---
When i switch off and connect the cable, Its connected and shows a Mediatek device in device manager, after 1-2 seconds it automatically dissapeears (like its disconnected), even when i have cable plugged.
Goto Settings->Developer Options and check if USB debugging is checked..
If it is already checked and still not working then u might want to try re-installinh the latest Micromax A110 drivers on your computer and try rooting..

Try using these codes what I posted before, I've heard that they vary depending on devices.
Use this code in the terminal what is installed with CM10;
su
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb
reboot
That changes it to mass storage mode when you connect it to the PC, slide down the notifcation bar and click on the notification, enable mass storage mode and when you are finished enter this code into the terminal to change it back to MTP;
su
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mtp,adb
reboot
I already tried that dude but it didn't work ...i saw that my tv was recognizing it as a mass storage device but it wasn't loading ..so any other solution

MTP issue after UE40 update

I could not explore the idol3 using MTP after the update.
I keep getting this error:
Unable to access Android "Unable to open MTP device '[usb:003,042]'"
Interestingly, I'm able to work with adb.
ubuntu-linux:/$ adb devices
List of devices attached
XXXXXX device
I'm using ubuntu 14.04, havent tried in windows or Mac.
Any solution?
What app/method are you using to access it as a mtp device?

Did you try with Windows ? Personnaly, I can't get any android device recognized with Ubuntu (latest version ) and any of its variants (Lubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu) when using MTP mode. I do think there is a missing driver or something like. UMS will work, but not avaible on our idol 3. PTP works also, but so so...
Fortunately adb works like a charm with Ubuntu.

I'm connected to the device thru USB. tried mounting thru Nautilus. It used to work before the update.

Same machine is picking up my other devices (S3/ Nexus 4) using MTP. I will try in windows and mac and let know how it goes...
That's kind of weird, I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 and it works with no issues. Though oddly, my SD Card works in Android and mounts via MTP, but TWRP can't see it at all

How to enable USB debuggin with broken touchscreen?

Hi
I have a old nexus with broken touchscreen . I want to use it via mirror on pc.
unfortunatly USB debuggin wasn't enable so i can't install any app.
any tips?
thanks
PS: i saw many use usb adapter to connect a mouse but i don't have it
EDIT: right now i just need a rom/kernel with USB debugging mode enabled by default
the screen still works , only the touch screen is broken
power , and volume bottons still work
the device is rooted
If it's only installing apps you could install them via recovery. (as zip)
Or you could check for a cheap replacement touchscreen.

thanks for the answer!
sorry i forgot to mention that i need USB debuggin for make the app works correctly.
I'm trying now to find out what rom i have installed and maybe then find a kernel with OTG support . (yes i found a otg cable )
i'm not a expert of rooting
I think google has an app called voice control. Not sure how operational it is though. Supposedly you can control the entire system via voice.

i need to unlock the phone and tap on the widget "search" to start voice command .
I think the best way is to find a way to enable OTG and then use a usb mouse
Boot into Recovery and mount*Data*partition.
Open a shell on PC and type:
adb pull /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config ~/
Repace*~/*with home directory of your OS.
Open that file in a text editor and you would possibly see*mtp*written there. Change it to*mtp, adb.
Note that sometimes Android doesn't understand the text file changes if the line terminator is "DOS Terminators" which Notepad would probably do on Windows (mine is Linux so no issue here).
In that case, I would suggest not using*adb pullbut doing:
adb shell echo 'mtp,adb' > /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config
You may verify that the*echo*command overwrote the file by using:
adb pull /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config ~/
and seeing the file's content in some text editor.
Unmount*Data*and reboot into Android OS. USB Debugging would probably be enabled.

thanks!
i tryed
1) i went in recovery mode
2) i connect via usb the nexus4 to my pc
3)went in "mounts and storage"
4)then "mount /data"
5)in cmd i tryed your command "adb pull /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config" but i says i'm unauthorized
i checked via command "adb devices" and it return a alphanumerica string plus "unauthorized"
i tryed then to
Reboot your phone into recovery mode.
Connect it to your computer.
Open the terminal and type:
cd ~/.android
adb push adbkey.pub /data/misc/adb/adb_keys
adb shell reboot
but it still says error : device unauthorizated . please check the confirmation dialog on your device
i tryed also with a different version of adb and now gives me after "adb devices" an "offline" response
NB: if i connect the phone (not in recovery mode) via usb i can copy files in and out (i can explore onlyfew folders) , maybe this could help.

Sorry but this could not help... Now only thing you can do is connect any USB mouse to your phone via otg cable (as it is not costly also), and you can also try USB gamepad. I also have used USB gamepad before when my touchscreen was not working.
Second thing you can do is download any android device manager for your PC like mobogenie or mobilego they directly install any app from play store to you android device, through USB.And I don't think they need USB debugging option to be enabled.

my problem is not installing an app (i could do it in recovery mode with a .zip) but enabling the USB debuggin
I have a otg cable but not the "Y" type ( the one with power source ) , also i don't know if OTG is supported by my kernel . I would like to install maybe another kernel which has OTG support and usb debuggin mode enable by default but i don't know what kind of rom i have D:
right now i just need a rom/kernel with USB debugging mode enabled by default
