Just want to know if its just me or other people also. Lately even when I have service I don't actually have service..... Internet won't work/don't get texts I have to restart my phone to get it working again. Just want to know if it my phone or the service. Im running on [ROM-Leak][ODIN] Gingerbread 2.3.4 T959VUVKG4.
I had a similar issue coupke if weeks ago. Lasted about a day here. do you have the problem when using wifi too?

No I have no issues with wifi.. This has been going on for about 3 days now... it pissing me off....
You could try flashing another modem and see if it gives you better results. It might just be that KG4 isn't good for your area.
um go To Wirless & networks then go to Mobile Networks Network operators and hit search now.. and when tmobile comes up click on it... try that see if it works
i don't know if this is considered a service issue or not though, but i did have a couple of calls that did not go through and i'm on Valhalla 1.3.2.
Anyone else you know in your area on T-Mobile? If so are they having an issue? If not, definitely turn off the phone, reseat the SIM (if it's old, go get a new one), then see if it's better. If not, try what bkoon said. Let us know how it goes.

I'm still new to this so I don't know how to flash a modem/what exactly a modem is but I will look it up and see.
Also I didn't say it in the OP but this happens randomly. I sometimes go for almost the whole day without it doing this and sometimes it happens 10 mins after I turn on my phone.

If she's having a similar issue on a totally different phone it would seem to be a T-Mobile issue. Does it only happen in a certain area (your house, places you go/hang out, etc.) or all over the city?

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you meant she has the same issue. What about doing a factory data reset & also reseating the SIM? Barring that, maybe flash a new ROM onto it to see if that helps. As bkoon alluded to, some modems (the part that talks to T-Mobile as well as wifi) work better in some areas than in others. Flashing a different ROM via ODIN would give you a different modem.
If you just want to flash the modem itself via ODIN, take a look in the developer forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192436). You open ODIN, put the modem file in the "PHONE" location, and hit start.
If you need help, let me know & I'll help in any way I can.

I have to admit I'm CWM stupid Iv'e only ever flashed dsexton's Adrenaline Shot from CWM. I've never flashed a new ROM that way. I imagine it's the same as flashing any other ZIP, though. Tell me what steps you followed & where you're stuck & I'll do my best to help.
I'm more of an ODIN guy, but that's because I'm fairly new to this too.

Well the thing is I have full bars and even says 4G but it acts like I have no service(also this only started recently and I used to never have problems). It hasn't happened since I installed a new ROM yet but I have only had the ROM for about 5 hours. I am going to try out modems also to see if I can get better reception in some areas, but I have never changed the modem before so we will see how it all goes.
hi all,
I just found out i can't make a call, it hangs up right after i call someone, i also cant send text messages, mobile internet is working though. and i can receive calls and texts.

what can i do?
if i haven't provided enough info just ask me and ill answer.
has anyone got a solution?

messed a bit with the apn settings, lost my data connection. wiping everything and flashing again, hoping it fixes it.
problem solved, seems that I didn't pay my bill so I can't call or text anymore.

Flashed a few roms on my phone and never bricked it whats so ever. It shows the IMEI, how ever it doesnt match the IMEI it have on on the back of the phone. The phone came with 2.2.1 Froyo and i upgraded it with ODIN using KJ6 2.3.6 GB rom. I can connect to wifi and such. It's not the sim card cause it works with all my friends tmobile phones. I get bars on the phone with the sim card in it. But when i attempt to make a call it says "Not registered to Network" i went to Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names, i went there to do the APN Manually i tried setting it to Default and it didnt help either.
Anyone know's how to fix this?

I'd say at least 10 minutes, going longer won't hurt.

Still having a problem, You know any other solutions? I don't wanna have to pay for a new phone lol. If you do can you have it in FULL DETAILS. Cause i want to make sure i have have every thing correct.
I got all day to try to fix this. I don't want to try reflashing things cause i don't know if i can mess it up or cause more problems.
So.... you have flashed a few ROMs..... meaning you have at least ONE nandroid back up from when the phone worked?
If you do... you are good to go. If you don't..... good luck to you. You have what sounds like a generic IMEI.

Well i don't, didn't know i have to. So in other words it's impossible to get this phone back on?
I had the same issue with my phone, it just wouldn't stay on Network, and the SIM would go back and forth from being recognized or not. I flashed back to stock and it still didn't work. The ten minute battery pull was suggested in another thread and a few people swear it works. Mine played up before this was suggested so I never tried it.
I had the same thing happen with my wifes phone and all I could link it to was the Kj6 modem...see link below. I reflashed the whole ROM and it came back.
With my phone I just called T-Mo and told them that since I upgraded to 2.3.6 via Kies that my phone wasn't working properly (Technically true, but a little stretch). I flashed Bhundvens 1click to stock, factory reset, etc...etc... then paid $20 and got a replacement phone via UPS in about 4 days.
I not saying you are having the same problem as I did, but it sounds very similar.
As a side note, the replacement SGS4G (refurb) they sent me absolutely blows my original handset out of the water when it comes to signal strength. I get solid 4G speeds of 5MB+ in my house, where before I only got patchy edge. I was amazed at the huge difference in performance between two supposedly identical handsets.
I hope you can get this remedied without an exchange, but you should be able to get a new one for $20 as a last resort.

Back ups are suggested all over this forum. Now you know. It is not impossible... google 'generic imei' and look at the dozens of ways people have had success and failure trying to remedy it. There are a ton of threads in the SGS 4G forum alone.
And whether you fix it or get a new phone... make a back up of your efs folder FIRST thing along with a nandroid back up. It will save your ass if this ever happens again.

I've had a lot of problems with receiving and sending MMS lately.
As always, T-Mobile has been no help and has said everything is working fine on their end.
When i try to send it just says "sending and never does anything" and i usually don't get people's pictures.
I've even tried to change ROMS and still have the same problem. I'm currently on the ICS AOSP one.
Any help?

Did you lose your imei when flashing? That is typically the only reason to not be able to send texts if you have service otherwise.
Are you sure that you have your data turned on? MMS won't send or receive without it

and yes my data is on. When i try to send it says "sending..." and never does anything (has said it for over 12 hours now) in the mean time ive done other things using data such as web browsing and using apps. So i know my data works.

I actually just did that yesterday. Didn't solve the problem. I also reflashed AOKP. That didn't work. I restored to a backup of Milestone 6-1. That didn't work. I reflashed KJ6 modem. That didn't work. I flashed KG4 modem. That also didn't work. So far the only thing that seems to give me some data is running it on 2G only. I think on Monday, I'm going in to get the phone exchanged for a new one, and I'll just do a fresh flash right out of the box to ICS from stock GB. (Of course, following all the directions.)

I'd thought about doing that, I guess I'll try it right now, since I've got time. Would I be able to just install SGS Kernel Flasher and flash AntonX's kernel from that after using Heimdall to stock rooted?
EDIT: Sorry I'm kind of hijacking this thread, but I Heimdalled back to stock, but I'm still having the connectivity issues. I have full 4G signal, but data is crawling to the point where the connection times out before I can even load anything. When I set it to GSM only (EDGE), I can get data, but not the 4G speeds I'm paying for. Reverting to Plan A and getting it replaced on Monday. (I hear it's possible it's a SIM card problem too...) Thanks for the help though.
I feel that I have tried every single possible thing I can think of to get my service back. I ODIN'd back to every single stock ROM I can find, I tried restoring my IMEI and nothing still.
It happened off MIUI V4 and now I've got nothing. Can someone please help? I've been without a phone for two days now.
Thanks in advance.
