DOH - Motorola Atrix 2

Did the dumbest thing.
Accidentally deleted the ICS keyboard that comes with LunarEclipse rom.
Now I have no keyboard and no way to enter text.
I can't reinstall keyboard because I can't sign into playstore. No keyboard to enter details.
Any way to restore keyboard without factory reset?

A factory reset will do nothing for you except wipe all of your personal apps, data, settings, etc.
You have a custom recovery installed?
Just reinstall the ROM (no need to wipe data). Or use adb and push the keyboard apk to your device from your computer (take it out of the ROM.zip). There are many options for you... in theory.
And how do you "accidentally" delete the keyboard? (That's rhetorical, no need to answer..)

Oh if only. I have custom recovery on sd but not installed on the phone since I can't access the file. No file explorer installed. Can't install one without play. Circle of poop.
I did extract the keyboard apk to sd but once again can't access it since LunarEcplise doesn't seem to have a default explorer built it.
And just to answer your curiosity, was deleting apps like gtalk etc when I deleted keyboard without looking.
Should've paid more attention to the small screen than the porn on the big screen. :silly:
Edit: DOH AGAIN! Turns out cm recovery stays in the system even if I hadn't "installed" it in the new rom. Tried to restart in recovery, started straight into cm recovery. Time to flash. Thanks a lot for the tip mate.

CHECK YOUR PMs

What I did in your situation is that I transferred the APk to androidsdk/tools. I used command prompt to adb push the swipe apk, then I exit prompt. That worked for me.

Use adb to adb install the APK.
I tried using ADB but to no avail. Either it's not coompatible with my phone or I did something wrong. If I put a keyboard on my sd card can I access and use it from my phone? If so how would I do that?

Upgrade launcher? in custom ROM

Hello!
This is my first post so please don't throw stones on me. I was interested if, for example I run CM7, how can I replace the built in Launcher? it has ADW but it's outdated, so I want to put in for example the latest version.
As I see, if I install launcher for example X on the phone, this will be installed over the built in one. You know what I mean, the bulit in is there running and my new launcher is there to... is it possibile to remove the original one and put a new one in?
I don't think it's possible because it's essentially the same as a stock launcher, you can't just remove it and have nothing there. This is what I believe to be true anyway.
As you know, you can run another launcher over the top, why don't you just do that? It doesn't cause any problems for you.

Thank you...
I don't want to do that because the RAM. This is the main reason... as I saw I got only 128 which is almost insufficient for running any other app on the phone...
You can try intalling a new launcher then uninstalling the system launcher.
Or you can install a new launcher as a system app. And uninstall system launcher.
Or install a new launcher as a user app and convert into system app and uninstall system launcher.

I'll make a back-up and than see if it boots to flash recovery... of so... I'll try
thank you...
UPDATE
seems like I can't boot into CWM recovery with power + volume up + volume down
it says something like firmware upgrade failed... and dies... remove battery, put back and boot normaly... If I remain withouth a launcher and I won't be able to boot to CWM recovery to reinstall rom I'll softbrick my phone... :-S
Try using anttek app manager or titanium backup to freeze adw once you've installed a launcher you want. That will keep it out of memory, but it's easily undone.

Yap, you may want to try this, and since you're on CM7 I believe you have root acess.
So, install the launcher you want (it's not obligatory you use ADW)
Install Titanium Backup from the market.
Open TB and select 'Backup/Restore'
Scroll until you find the stock launcher (ADW in your case), select it and then choose Uninstall. You will have some warnings since it's a system app, no problem there.
After that just open the new launcher with the home button, it should do the trick
Cheers
I'll try this as soon as I got home...
But right now, how can I boot into recovery with clockworkmod?
I mean, from poweroff...
pressing those keys just boots into firmware upgrade...

In terminal emulator type "reboot recovery" without the quotes and hit enter. As long as you have busybox this should work.
Also, I said to freeze the app because it's easier to undo than if you uninstall it. Plus, you don't have to keep a backup on your SD.
Don't know about busybox. It said something about it while I rooted. Don't know if it's still there.
I'll try freezing it.
Still didn't figured out how to boot into recovery from power off.
Update:
Launcher frozen. Restarted. Everything works as expected. Maybe I'll uninstall it later.frozen with link2sd.
Same think can I do with android keyboard if I have another one?
UPDATE2:
If I don't have a launcher I can't even access terminal emulator. So, how to boot into CWM recovery from power off? Do I need to have USB cable in my phone connected to pc?

Can't help you on the recovery, sorry different device, I think it has a different way to boot :/
On the keyboard one, yes, you can do it to the keyboard also, but why deleting stock keyboard? It's good for having a backup when the custom fails.
But why do you lack a launcher? You should always have a launcher, of course without it you can't access anything.
You should first install the second launcher and then delete the first one, not the other way around :/

Yeah but I like to play safe so until I don't know how to boot into recovery I won't delete it...

You install another launcher BEFORE freezing the stock launcher.
Read my original post in this thread and you'll see that's what I wrote.
You'll need adb at this point. Install it, install the driver for your phone, use adb to push a launcher apk to either /system/app or /data/app. Also, you can use adb to enter recovery by typing "adb reboot recovery" without the quotes.
it's just that I don't trust myself
I've installed another launcher already...
Now... can you be a bit more open for the ADB thing?
I'm at work, here I can't install usb debugging...
as I understand, with ADB I got something like a terminal or thing like that and I cand send command to the phone

Correct. Install adb (google is your friend). Find the usb driver for your phone and install it on your home computer. Connect your phone through usb. Open a command prompt and cd (change directory) to the adb folder. Type adb devices. If a device number is returned, you can go from there. There are tons of useful commands.
One thing... I have u8180. But about phone says u8160. Since rooted and cm7 it's recognized as u8160 even by Google play. Hm as I see there is a work around. U8180/u8160 shares the same hw. So if adb will recognize it as one of them it will be OK?

[Q] TWLauncher

So I accidentally deleted my TWLauncher without replacing it. I turned off my phone and turned it back on to see if it went through the booting system. But the booting system animation stopped right at the "Samsung" title leaving me unable to access the contents of my Galaxy S 4G. Is this a brick? How can you help me fix this problem? Thanks

You can flash a launcher. If on ICS, you can flash TWRP which has a flile explorer you can copy over a launcher with. You can copy one over with ADB.

By you giving a lot more info
You flash TWRP via CWM - TWRP is an alternative to CWM and is touch based. Put a launcher on your SD card, reboot into TWRP same as you would CWM, go into the file explorer, copy the launcher apk and paste it in your system/apps directory.

oh sorry. well uh cant access anything but download mode and system recovery. and i dont have CWM recovery and i have a stock rom. i just need to get a new launcher. how can i do that without accessing anything on my phone?
You can turn you phone on. Let it boot and leave it... even if seeing force close prompts. And try going on your computer and logging in the Playstore and install a third party launcher from your computer.
I'd leave to phone sitting for a bit to give it time to try and install.
Background: I deleted my only launcher once but was still able to access some apps. Example - long pressing search soft key with Super Manager installed - it would prompt to choose Volume Controls or Super Manager. Or long pressing the home soft key pops up recent apps.
Your phone should still be working, it just does not have a GUI interface or desktop for you to see.
Give it a shot.
-----
Or you can flash one of bhundven's Kernel One-Clicks, then flash a launcher or TWRP.

thanks for your suggestions. yes i have tried installing launchers but for some reason (i waited 10 minutes for this) it doesnt go to my phone. i remember freezing the launcher maybe deleted it but when i long press any buttons or the screen nothing neccessarily happens. also im afraid i dont know what super manager is. maybe you have a signed launcher app? i dont have cwm, adb, or anything else. so maybe a signed launcher so that i can flash it?
If you don't have cwm, how are you going to flash?
All stock apps are stickied in the themes ands apps section.
Load a one click on to computer and reflash Rom?
Load the android sdk tools onto your computer and "adb push" it into place?

I am starting to think you aren't reading what I am saying.
AntonX Kernel One-Click Download
If you want to keep your ROM and data intact, go to the link above and download [AntonX: Basic with a Twist SGS4G KJ6 1.1.0]. Use the guide in the second link in my signature to flash it. That WILL GIVE YOU CWM without changing your ROM.
If you are on GB - download the attached zip and flash it in CWM.
I am now bowing out of helping further in this thread. Good luck!

No home

So, I wanted to do a factory reset on My old Sensation so I could give it to my dad. I did it, but I forgot that I removed default home application from it. And since I removed my account from it, there is no GoLauncher Ex on it theat I used either, so I can't see any screen, menus, nothing. All I can do is I am able to use notification bar and view settings. I have no backup anywhere. Why did I ever even root you ask if I am not computer or phoney savy, well, because I wanted to remove some apps, so here I am now. Any ideas?

Could I simply install GoLauncher on it somehow?
IF you have a another android phone or a computer you could enable bluetooth and send the apk file wich is go launcher. You can search Google "go launcher apk download".

Press thanks if it helped
You can install it by using sdk using a computer but my guess is that you dont know how to do that so just download the official ruu if you are bootloader lock or there are many stock rooted roms if u have s-off and have a custom recovery...
I mean no disrespect by assuming u cant flash an apk through sdk on a pc...
Forgot to mention there is a third and easier way which is to find a launcher zip that can be flashed on recovery like touchwiz from the galaxy s3 then you can flash then you can install any other app out of the play store and remove or keep the flashed launcher just in case you reset the phone again...

Best thing to do is. Download golauncher apk file to your computer then either you send it via Bluetooth,or you can create or have account in any file sharing site eg. Box or dropbox. Uploaded to that then make file as for sharing to friends, you will get specific wab address to access that file then download from ur phone. You will see download in dropdown notification menu install file from there.

Thanks guys, you are right, I don't know how to flash, no offence taken, I just wanted to share an easy solution, perhaps someone messes up like I did some day, in settings I went to TTS and pretended to want to download English files. That lauched Market for me and I just downloaded Go Launcher from there. I was just veeeeery lucky.
