cell broadcast and different roms - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hi there,
The problem is that when i have cell broadcast on my battery is empty in 8 hours.
My phone is rooted.
Using the stock rom.
The strange thing is, i can't turn it of, it is grayed out and it can't be turned off.
Now i have installed another rom (Htc_explorer_Europe_stock) from http://www.filecrop.com/search.php?...1&engine_h=1&engine_e=1&engine_m=1&engine_4=1
The Htc_explorer_Europe_stock have the option to turn cell broadcast off (yeah!) but it is not in my language.
My preinstalled rom is in my language but i can't turn off cell broadcast.
How is it possible that there are 2 stock roms and 1 have the option to turn off cell broadcast and 1 don't have that option?
Is it possible to get the dutch (netherlands) language in the "Htc_explorer_Europe_stock" rom so i have that option?
Greets Kees.

[Q] Automatically turn on wifi when no cell reception

i want to preface that i've tried playing around with locale and tasker but no avail.

when theres no cellular reception, to automatically turn on wifi and turn on "recieving incoming calls" in the SIP fxnality.
does anyone know of any ways i can make this possible?

System Tray Modifications

Is't possible to insert a "data switch On/Off" in those already present in the ICS system tray notifications?
Dont think so. The closest thing is probably airplane mode.
Airplane mode is valid choice but i want preferably option for turn on/off mobile data connection only
Well i dont have a 3G device, so I cant confirm this but... You can turn on wlan while airplane mode is active, without disabling airplane. Doing that should keep your mobile connection off, while still allowing you to use wlan.
Its possible some custom rom have a 3G setting you can add to the toolbar. EOS got a lot of different options you can add, but as far as I can see, no 3G.

Star B94M 3g and Dropping Calls

Hi Just bought a Star B94M which came with Jelly Bean 4.2.1 from the factory.
I have a problem when 3G is enabled I have voice calls being dropped.
I live in the UK (Leicester) it is on the Vodafone network, this problem happens in various places not just in one location.
Carried out speed test on the data side with 3g this hangs and freezes 6 out of 10 times, if I disable the 3g the speed is slow but constant does not hang or freeze and voice calls are good.
I've checked the following APN settings, tried in various modes GSM/WCDM Auto WCDM Preferred, GSM/WCDM Auto, WCDM only.
The best combination is GSM only and 3g disabled.
Are there any settings I can change to make the 3g better.
The phone came with 4.2.1 it is not rooted and I don't really want to root the phone just in case I have to send it back, as it is only 1 week old.
Also noticed that the battery would indicate 60% and a few minutes later show 14% and starts to warn, needs charging, if you switch off and remove the battery and then put back the indicator will go back to 60%

WiFi Calling - Setting Priority

My provider (O2 Germany) allows WiFi Calling (voice over WiFi) and I have activated it on my P20.
Is there an option to "Prefer WiFi connections when available?"
At home, the mobile networks only work near the windows. Within the flat, mobile calls often get lost so I am glad to finally have a phone that can use the WiFi network.
By default, the phone prefers the mobile network and only switches to WiFi when the mobile network is lost.
Can I set the phone to prefer WiFi and use that when available and only switch to the mobile network when WiFi is out of range?
I have read somewhere that Samsung phones provide such an option, but cannot find it on the Huawei P20 phone.
The only workaround I have found, is to switch on airplane mode and then manually switch on WiFi. That works and I can still make and receive calls that way.
I looked through Developers Options, but could not find any such setting.
Anyone?
I am searching also for that setting. My mobile network signal is to low to live and to high to die......
Would appreciate if that annoying P20 would give me the ability to decide how it should behave....
Thanks on any help!
The only way I found to force WiFi calling is to switch to airplane mode and then switch WiFi on again. Then the phone will remain constantly in WiFi calling mode. You just need to remember to switch off airplane mode when you leave the house.
I just got angry after my post an treated Google.
For the Moment i found a solution, hope that will persist...
If i go to the dual SIM Config Menu there is an option to activate LTE on both SIM Cards. It is, in my German Branded P20, the last option.
When i disable that option as mentioned on the Internet the phone takes 5s and switches automatically and, for the moment, permanent to WiFi Calling...
Crazy. Hope that solves the issue foe me permanent and maybe helps for you also?
I think there is no bigger disadvantage on deactivating the function when WiFi Calling is now working properly
I just received a new firmware update to EML-L29 8.1.0.165(C432) which adds VoLTE and VoWiFi features - I thought we already had those features, but maybe they have improved them. I have not seen any new settings and even with your suggested settings, I am not getting permanent VoWiFi.
Hi Peter,
after some days testing i have to report, that was happy to early...
Just not reliable, also with my "hack", which also caused me some other troubles in regions were i have the issue that the carrier has just build LTE transmitters and no other frequencies.
Also, WiFi Calling works not really reliable on Huawei P20. Annoying!
So we have to hope that Huawei will bring a fix for that....

How to turn off WiFi calling notification

Does*anyone know how to get rid of the Vodafone WiFi calling notification? It appears at the top of notification bar and also on my lock screen, when I have poor signal and it connects to WiFi calling mode. I can only mute it for 2 hours at a time. In the notification settings it comes under "IMS service" which is a system app that it is*greyed out so can't be switched off. I never had any notifications when WiFi*calling*was connected with O2 but I do since changing to the N20 and my new carrier Vodafone. I find this irritating.
Did you ever find any joy with this problem?
I'm having the same issue on my Z Fold 2, I've just switched provider to Vodafone from Three and the IMS Service/WiFi calling notification is unable to be disabled.
It must be Vodafone related as I used WiFi calling on three and never had this issue!
No it's still there! I've just got used to it now
Hey,
I'm having the same problem too. As far as I can tell this seems to be an issue unique to Vodafone users - indeed in the Vodafone's network options menu, the ability to turn off these notifications is greyed out. Same sim card into a friend's phone = same problem. My friend's O2 sim card or another friend's EE sim in my phone = no problem. I've raised this with Vodafone repeatedly and the consistent response from their technical support team has been that a) this isn't a problem that has been raised before; b) that it's something that needs to be fixed across the whole network's standard SIM functionality and they can only do that for widespread issues. Both of these answers are entirely untrue. I keep raising it and I've now formally complained about it.
In the meantime, I use an app called BuzzKill, which although isn't free and for me isn't always 100% effective at muting the Vodafone WiFi Calling notifications, it certainly catches most of them so the £2ish was well worth it. Easy set up too (and no, I don't work for them ).
I found out by enter info then enable wifi calling then disable it goes away.
