authentic Samsung Note 8.0 flip case - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Accessories

It has "open to wake" function.

As Samsung gives away free flip cases after registering in Germany, I'm thinking about which color I should get.
I'm between green, white and dark red. (rather between dark red and green)
On your images it doesn't look too aggressive, which it does on the official press images.

i did as well. cant find the OEM flip case online anywhere. i have the white one, but would love a different color.
probably wont work due to at the bottom of the registration page it has this little note:
"* Only for private customers resident in Germany and only while stocks last. Unfortunately, you can be guaranteed due to limited availability even when specifying a custom color not sending Diary of a pocket in the desired color."

it fits in some of my slacks / dress pants, but definitely not in jeans.

I can't imagine how it should fit into the front pocket (for example the opening of my front pocket measures about 120mm in while the note 8.0 has 136mm)
I think you need cargo pants with side pockets.

So just to follow up, I got back to my house in the US and there was a package waiting for me, and in it was the green notebook case. I didnt think they would send it as I was not German, oh well! Love it, my white one was getting a but worn.

One of the reviews I watched mentioned that the taper of the crown where I case would meet is approximately .1 mm. I would imagine it depends on how much the case wraps around the front of the screen. The one that's on my phone right now actually doesn't even get to the glass.

I'd agree it will depend on the case and my current one a spigen neo hybrid over laps the glass I would say by about 1mm or possibly 2mm, still very tempted once the black version arrives.

We will only have silver at launch. We are planning to add more colors in the future. Thanks for the inquiry Dave!
Bit vague unfortunately.
Why they would only have silver when the phones are either white, black or gold is beyond me.
'Cause aluminum is silver and they're rushing the product out before they can get a process in place to paint or powder-coat or whatever the aluminum?

So all this is really doing is using the "silver crown" to hide halos, right? It doesn't sound all that revolutionary, but I guess its one way to get rid of the halo problem.

Correct. Basically the same idea as the tempered glass screen protectors with colored borders. Both are just two different ways with dealing with the halo. The good thing about the crown is that it actually curves with the actual glass. Whereas the edge to edge tempered glass screen protectors have a small gap between the edges of the tempered glass and screen that tends to build up dust.

I bought one for my Note 4 and to be honest I was very dissapointed. After installing the glass and the crown piece (they are seperate) I still ended up with a very slight halo that can be seen all the way around the glass - it was small but you could see it when the screen is off.
The "Crown" piece isn't as smooth as you would hope and my finger catches on it - particuarly around the home button -(at the bottom of the phone)
The concept sounded good - but the execution was slightly off - I complained about it to Body Guardz and they sent me a new one - same thing happened.
I still have it on the note - but I would never buy it again and I won't be buying it for the S6 - but that is just me. Others may have different results.

Change Side Bumpers

Since it appears that LG makes it pretty easy to teardown this phone it would be cool to change out the bumpers for smaller ones. lol... (I don't plan on dropping mine).
https://youtu.be/7N_mGT-P1ZA
Only thing I was on the fence about this phone was that T-Mobile only has black. (I know, I'm a stickler.)
Max's video really showed you how easy it is to teardown and replace with other colored parts later when available.
Actually I might keep the black and just go for the rose gold rails and camera ring from the white color.
As for slimmer rails I think if you use a dremel you could shave off a few mm possibly? Similar to what a few LG G Watch R users did to get rid of the cheap black paint.
Black and gold would have the most "premium" look. Now hopefully people will start breaking their new phones, so more replacement parts become available lol. Or, maybe the people that got review units will sell parts? Here's hoping.
I was actually thinking yesterday after seeing Max video to just change bars to gold.... And leave black... But not rose gold pure yellow gold... Sexy sexy... I saved an eBay search to find them

I'm not sure that's 100% a good idea. For one, we already know the fingerprint sensor only works when you're contacting the side bumpers. Who knows what else might stop working if you disconnect or replace them? The antennas, maybe?
I wouldn't want to be the first to find out.

Very minor so far, but if it gets worse I'll be looking for stainless steel rails.

Plasti dip is amazing.. Never thought to use it for the rails of the phone, that would be very cool. Best thing is, if you grow tired of the dip want to change color etc you can just make a small cut through the dip (most people use something like a standard screwdriver or a razor) and peels right off.
I might look into this, I'd love a dark blue on my bumpers to go with the black phone... Oooh...
I don't believe I will want to take down the phone to do it though. May look into doing so without it.

I bought the white intending to buy black back cover and simply aplying skinomi decals in black carbon fiber to the white parts in front. Actually the decals are on the way already. I have applied Di-Noc carbon wrap to the back of the clear Ringke cover because it was a finger print magnet. But the cover weighs down the phone too much for my liking on what is already a heavy phone compared to my feather light Note 3.
As for the Rose gold rails, I have clear wrap for cars left over. I cover them with that before the plating wears off or I scratch it. Man those things weigh down this phone. I have a cramp by the end of the day.
I would be cool if I could take them off, and still have a case. the side bards only make the phone wider. It seems it would be easier to hold without the metal bars, that are nothing more than cosmetic additions.
Yes they are big... But just a few screws holding them on. I could see the phone modding scene take off with custom bumpers. Flat ones would be a great first entry. Also a stylus bumper could be added to either side, with a thin styla style that clips on or slides in.

Hirsch Leonardo Medici - Curved End Watch Strap

HI all...
just fitted a Hirsch Leonardo, curved end watch strap to my Gear S3 and (in my opinion at least) it goes really well with the watch.
The model shown is the Medici which is a really soft premium leather and has white stitching, they also do other models in the same range with different colours and finish combinations. I also chose the black buckle option which again works well with the Frontier ( I might even treat myself to the optional deployment clasp )
I was looking for something to flow with the body of the watch and bridge the gap between the watch body and where the strap attaches to the lugs, I think it hits the mark pretty well.
What do you guys think?
All the best!

Looks great. Where did you get it.

I purchased mine from Watch Obsession here in the UK, they do ship world wide though (they also have an January sale on at the moment too )
https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/collections/hirsch-leonardo-curved-ended-watch-straps
Watchband Center also have a nice range including the now discontinued 'mobile' model which is a leather/rubber hybrid and waterproof.

Worth noting that the strap doesn't have a quick release spring bar so you'd need to get a traditional Spring Bar tool to help with the installation if you don't already have one.

You're welcome....
As a side note, a tip I picked up from a couple of watch owners forums (Omega, Rolex etc.) is to use Scotch Tape to carefully tape up areas around the lugs and the back of the watch to help protect against accidental scratching when swapping over straps when using a spring bar tool. Takes a few minutes to do but totally worth it for added piece of mind...

Did you have a lot of difficulty getting the spring bars in? I'm trying to install a Leonardo to my S3, and it doesn't seem like I can adjust the inserts so that I can get them close enough to the end of the strap to engage the spring bars. What position of the insert did you use?

Hi there...
When I first fitted the strap it was a very tight fit, this isn't just true for the Gear S3 as I did some reading and spotted that people on traditional Swiss watch owners forums (Omega, Rolex etc.) were also finding it a little difficult to fit.
The knack (I found) is to line up/insert one end of the spring bar (the opposite end to where the little cut away is in the strap) into the lug hole and then use your spring bar tool to pop the other end of the pin under the lug, once you have both ends of the spring bar under the lugs, push the strap very firmly against the body of the watch which gives you a bit more wiggle room to engage the spring bar into the second lug hole by gently nudging it into position (I hope I explained that OK ).
Initially when I first fitted the strap I had the inserts and bar set to position 7 (see attached images).
However, I noticed after a few weeks that the strap had softened up a bit (being leather) so I was able to refit the strap with the insert set to position 3 which I think looks a little better against the body of the watch (see image).
You could try position 3 but it might be a bit easier to try position 7 first and see how you get on.
In case it helps, I've also attached a picture of the underside of the watch so you can see how the strap sits against the body of the watch.
best wishes...

Xerxes, thank you so much for such a detailed reply! I have to be honest, if it weren't for the pictures you originally posted, I would have assumed that the Gear S3 was outside of the 4.5-5.5mm adjustment range of the Leonardo, and I would have returned the straps.
I'm no stranger to watches and watch straps, have swapped straps many, many times and I've never had this much difficulty before. I went back to looking at some of the posts on the Watchuseek forums and I noticed a common theme about how challenging these straps were to install. I looked even closer at some of the installed strap pictures and I saw several where the straps were slightly marred from the installation, and I can definitely see how now. But I know it's possible here, so I'll give it another try.
Kudos on the strap installation at position 3, it looks noticeably more form-fitting than the already acceptable fitment in your original pictures.
Mission accomplished. I found that using your tip about catching one end of the spring bar in, and just getting the tip of the other end of the spring bar really helped. Instead of pushing the strap however, I found that it was much easier to push the spring bar towards the body of the watch with the small forked end of the spring bar tool.
I used position 7, but I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to use position 3 after the strap breaks in a bit. Thanks again for the help!

Which color do you like the most?

Which one is your favourite?
Mirror Black. Glass is something new & better imo, (antennas) and if it's glass, don't make it to look like metal.
Not too fussed as it'll be thrown in a case and I'll not see it again until I sell it on ebay next year lol. I would prefer the Midnight Black though as it'll likely show less dirt and finger print smudges than the shiny Mirror finish version.
Midnight Black, the mirror black is only a fingerprint magnet.
Midnight Black, as it's the only one with 256GB of storage. But I'm getting a full body case as soon as I can anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
I pre-ordered mine in midnight black
in case of Midnight black, wouldn't keep asking you if its metallic of mirror?
The white looks lovely....
Midnight, I really like its low profile elegance.
Last year seen a bit too much of glossy glass backs.
Dual tone looks good in glass, but single tone black is not appealing for me.
Midnight has a certain moderate gloss in bright light which I like a lot

First time I'm actually torn between choosing a colour. All three look great to me.
I'm thinking mirror black just because it is said to have oleophobic coating, which would help remove fingerprints quite easily (inadvertent wiping when putting it in your pocket for example).
Im thinking midnight black just because it seems to be the safe choice, most clean/stealthy looking, and it's usually the type of colour I go for when purchasing smartphones.
Silk white because it has this beauty/elegance to it, with the rose gold trim.
I'm probably going to get opinions of friends and family and go from there, just because of how confused I am with the choices lol
The white for me, the should have done a gloss white version also as that would look really nice.
So how long till they start dropping the other colors? Oh wait, once everyone has already bought the device....just like always lol

I do not understand why they cannot make 256gb version in any color.
However, oneplus retarded enough not to put cheap wireless charging coil under glass back cover.
Now I will have to buy external wireless charging coil !!

The results are in, and it seems it is a split between midnight black and silk white. Virtually no one recommended I get the mirror black because of fingerprints being visible all the time.
They also reminded me I'm a case person so that would end up hiding the gloss finish as well lol (given I don't use a clear case).
I'm still torn between the colours, but hey, at least it's now between two colours!
Silk white..... I am going to put a dbrand skin on it anyways, but when I don't have a skin on it I want it to be something that shows no fingerprints.
I went with mirror black because everyone else is buying midnight Black. ?
One a serious note, it won't really matter as the back will be covered by iron man case. ?
Plus, I can show off that mirror back when I want by just removing the case on special occasions. Haha ?
I liked the silk white, yesterday at the popup I got the midnight black - the back really hides fingerprints well - nothing like the reflective clear mirror black.
Midnight because of 256GB of storage, but I grabbed the nylon case too.
I got mine...
Mirror Black...
It's beautiful and the smudges wipe off very easily.
The coating oleophobic is very good this time...

Bezel paint or anodized? Risk of colour chipping

Hello,
I am trying to make my decision on the colour to go with.
I am leaning towards black, but from what I've seen so far, the black frame is merely paint on top of the stainless steel frame? Whereas the bronze seems to be anodised.
My concern is that throughout the life of the phone, the black one may end up looking bad if the paint chips through drops etc. Whereas this problem wouldn't affect the bronze version.
Anyone can comment on this?
Probably eventual scuffs are more visible on the black one, but you're not safe with the Bronze variant either: color inconsistency would happen with any variant.
Scuffs tend to appear around the camera module "bezels" more than other places, and those are very visible on the Bronze variant as you can see from the many drop tests filmed. I got the chance to get the White which is still acceptable regarding fingerprints on the back, but has lucid metal-ish bezels which, in case of scuffing, should not be as visible as the Bronze or the Black variant. In any case, I suggest you purchase a couple of cases, I endorse the Spigen Tough Armor for a more complete protection and the official Samsung Leather Cover for a casual use that keeps ergonomics, plus a shield for the camera module (I'm using the one from amFilm, fundamental in my opinion and pretty cheap) and eventually consider a Whitestone Dome screen protector as the original screen protector wears out in a couple of months. All the package should cost around 100$ depending on your region and deals but any damage to the phone due to drops or scratches will definitely cost much more than that to fix.

In the end, you should go with a color you like. It is a phone after all and not your last one.
I know we like the feeling of having the best of the best but then would you really enjoy your phone if you think of every scenario?
The best would be to pick the color you want, get a case and just use your phone with care and you should be fine.

That is correct. If it was stainless steel the phones would be alot heavier.
So main frame goes inside phone and is made of cut out aluminum.
I got white for the same reason, my black n10+ have very noticeable frame marks.
The white one though Is chrome painted. So if you do drop it, you will see the matte metal frame scuffs on it still per my last white n10+.
Very little bezel to protect this phone from impact. It won't take much to crack the screen or worse.
I get a good case... the right case makes it easier to handle and use too.

Interesting. I was under the impression that Samsung states the frames being made from stainless steel for all N20U models. You guys claiming it's aluminium.

Lol, how does stainless feel unless you scratch/bend or weigh it? It is however apparently aluminum.
Samsung marketing does little to quell rumors like this because they know it helps sell phones; they do it with other specs as well. They allow confusion to fester between specs on US and international variants. Many times you find out only what's inside on tear downs and even you must make sure exactly which model variant it is.
They even swamp heat pipe systems around apperantly on the same model.
They certainly do it with smaller chipsets and solid state components due to production/supply demands. This can and does cause issues with firmware updates.
Literally the only way Samsung can know for sure what's in it is to physically examine the phone and then rewrite/correct the firmware update or hardware. They prefer to do the former!
Welcome to Sammy's beta hardware test program if you ever had to send one of these in:laugh:
Aluminum is not necessarily undesirable as it conducts heat better than steel. Heat kills phones.
Reduces tooling cost as well.

Some sites spec it as aluminum, other as stainless, quit confusing. Wiki claims aluminum. GSM says stainless.
Lol, the fog of specs:laugh:
If stainless it may be magnetic; aluminum never.

BTW, edge lighting as predicted worked then ceased to ? all that it took to make it fail permanently was to change it from Always to only when screen off. Then when you put it back to always it no longer works comical.

Yeah, saw it light -once- about a week ago.
It was glorious...
Now dead as Zed, again:laugh:
It's a one shot blunder.
Thank you all for chipping in. I was wondering why the phone felt relatively light thinking it is stainless steel.
Anyway just to update I went with black as it's much more subdued and classy

I like copper more since of mat glass back.
I was almost going for black but since it has glossy back glass it turned me off and then I also thought black color exists everywhere on every phone so I took copper since it's refreshing and new colour that looks better than black.
Also glossy back glass turns me off because of finger print magnet and easily gets dirty than the mat glass that the copper colour one has. That one isn't as finger print magnet.

Bah-ha-ha-ha for giggles I enabled it to work with all apps on its list. Finally "success"; no clue why though.
