Clear fi and hoxl - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So I was at someone's house and we was browsing pics on hoxl and I discovered in choose player settings in gallery an option to connect to clear.fi . Be inquisitive I connected and soon discovered I was streaming my pics to a pc in the house over WiFi. Kinda cool. I'm gonna study up on it as it is basically a streaming program on the pc. My question is has anyone used this , thoughts on it, and I'm curious how my phone detected clear fi and is this a security issue. Almost seems like a remote desktop media program. I'm just trying to protect my media on my device from being streamed unintendedly....I'm running latest viperxl which I love.

Allshare like app for Nexus S?

I just sold my Vibrant and bought a Nexus S and was wondering if there was another app like Allshare that I could use to stream movies from my PC to my phone.
I really like Allshare cause whenever my wife insisted on watching f'ing Jersey Shore I could allways bust out my phone and choose a movie from my library without have to get off the couch to upload it to my phone.

Swifta would work great if it would play different types of video files.

So we do have DLNA? I searched around and I couldn't find a definite answer.
Damn I was going to buy the nexus s but I use allshare all the time. Especially when family comes over. I stream the photos and hd home videos to my tv.
Do you think if I took the vibrant version and used it on the nexus it would work?
Dlna needed of course.

Twonky works for me, I stream to my ps3 and the nexus s does have dlna.

iMediaShare brings DLNA capabilities on any Android phone including Nexus S. In addition it also enable playback of online videos as well as sharing personal photos from Facebook and Picasa.
Hmmm.
I tried searching for imediashare (and scanning the QR codes that are on their website) but it's not showing up in my Market....must be a protected app or something.
Oh well.
Damn it. Maybe I could get the imedia apk found some where.

I read on another thread that the Allshare app on the Vibrant is tied into its framework and would have to be modified to work.

Last post is December, so did you guys find a way or did everyone settle with Twonky, Skifta and iMediaShare?
You can stream video with Gmote.
Although the dlna works fine I really wanted the AllShare app to control the TV, anyone know how to get it on the Nexus S or at least why can't we?!
Is there an OS version issue, cause I have downloaded like 3 AllShare apk but none works.
I`m currently using the 2.3.4 version.
Thanks in advance,

App to control your computer from your phone?

I remember seeing an app where you can actually view your computer's homescreen directly on your phone and control is. What app is this?
Also, do you need to be on the same wifi to control it or could I be away from my house and still control my home computer from my phone?
TeamViewer is your answer.
You can find it in the Market.

Sweet, thanks! How exactly do you set this up? And can you control the computer when you aren't on your home wifi? And does anyone need to be at the computer to "activate" something?
Splashtop hd.. Install app.. Install program on computer connect them up and bobs ya sister lol

You go to their website and download the PC or MAC or Linux client. Then you set up an account from the client and make sure under settings you tell it to allow all connections and tweak the settings to your liking.
Then go on your phone, log in to the app, select the computer and boom! Your desktop shows up.
I'm not sure if it works on 3G/4G since I don't have a data plan but its flawless over wifi. Anf it does work outside of your home wifi network.
And no, if you tweak the settings no one has to be at the computer to "activate" it.

Sick!!! Good to know, now I can access my computer anywhere....
The best one is Logmein
It even supports my dualmonitors. Definitely worth it for this app guys.
I use team viewer, i have it controlled on my netbook, desktop and phone. and i use a common password so whereever i go I can always access all 3 things
very useful.
also, choose the setting that doens't give you a new password everytime you end a session.
do they have gotomeeting or citrix?

I don't quite understand what you're saying. Not sure if that was a question or statement. Maybe you're talking about the Google Music app. Possibly Drop Box? Drop Box is like cloud storage.

Note 10.1 as a second monitor

Just intersted to know if anyone else is using their tablet as a second monitor and what software / setup is being use and there general latency / experience is like. I use idisplay on both USB and wifi and performance is pretty good, refresh is high enough to watch web video but it crashes media player when I drag movies onto it, havent found out why that is yet.
I mainly use mine as a second monitor for use with Presonus Studio one, I sometimes drag the midi track or a vst synth onto it so I can twiddle the knobs with touch instead of my mouse.
I use splashtop 2 on mine to access my 2 monitors.

[Q] Streaming over data.

So I have Xfinity's TV player app so I can watch on TV shows on demand. Which is kinda funny because ON Demand means you know when you want to. And this isn't really the case. I currently don't have a home WiFi network so it defeats the purpose of the app if I need to be connected to WiFi. I know if you're on Verizon you can stream using 3G/4G and I'm not going to port over to Verizon from T-Mobile just to stream on demand. Is it possible to get the app to stream using data? I tried looking at the files in the apk file but to be honest I don't know what to do with the stuff.
