Speedster Rom - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just wanted to see who is interested in a rom I'm making. I'm a crack flasher, and this is my first attempt to build a rom and so far it coming along, but the hard part is still ahead.

Wireless-N Settings
Check 21y Ril update
Modify Wallpaper Apk with extra wallpapers
Goals
I like clean roms that are optimized, no theme, or themed extremely well that it looks stock, and lightweight because I don't use a lot of apps. I am building it so you do have options and can restore apps if you so choose. I like having latest updates and sometimes experimental builds. So If it doesn't work correctly, I'll try to fix it if it is something major or bothering me. Hopefully this rom will bring the life back into your G2x.
Input
Has anyone used the AGPS hack? Which settings do you find good? I am trying to test but I can never get a connection in Chicago.
Other Optimizations I should include?
What do you think about play music? Does the auto sync annoy you?

Sounds pretty sick man. I'm always up for something new if its designed to be stable. I'm using wolfscript with the latest Cm7 nightly. Working very well. The seeder and adrenaline boost are awesome. Something to think about possibly adding
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

I've thought about adding wolfscript but I still question some mods(like CPU GPU Rendering) and other conflict with what is incorporated. I'll look into it.

Someone posted elsewhere about including Gapps here is what I have found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111129
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016632
Since this is non profit third party rom made only for this device so far, I am willing to take the risk of including it. If I am asked to remove it I will.

Sign and we can finally do some real dev work for 4.x

Progress has slowed because I have a lot to take care of this week. I have a new daily driver so full on development will start this summer. Sadly after this summer I will donate my phone to my mother. Hopefully we can have something awesome by then.

Reboot takes a long time because it always optimizes, reboot once a day should be good enough, although I am testing mazs new kernel with it which might cause reboots, with a slow boot time, it would get annoying. I will make sure maz krnl is stable enough before release.
I use and prefer naked browser because it is fast, really fast. Faster than the stock browser and it has more features. It doesn't look pretty and doesn't have to.

Sorry man, I have been crazy busy. Working part time, and taking thermal dynamics and circuit analysis 2. If I get some free time this weekend I'll post my latest creation. Maybe update it a bit.

Did you give up on us? Finally get someone that makes a god rom a he just disappears. What are we to think. This is the best cm based rom i've come across in a very long time.

I would start first with buildprop and next check out the update script. That always works for me.
Can you be a little more specific? I'm having issues still... I've done everything.. even went back to a fresh PC36IMG.zip flash. Any ideas?
I've also flashed the new stock OTA rooted ZIP that flipz and toast put out. Nothing.
Can't see apps like Dropbox, like Twidroid, etc. "Copy protected" apps.

|ROM| Sprint_Mod_110910 |3.30.651.2|a2sd|deodexed|100% stock|Sense|

Sprint_Mod
Because my ROM makes "Sense" ...
About this ROM:
My ROM is designed for the users, who like me enjoys the "Sense" UI and enjoys the stock rom or wants a stock base to work off of. This ROM is tweaked to add some features that come in custom ROMS and keeps it simple for those of us that do not need all of the amazing eye candy, also for those who does not like all of the added crap that come shipped in most carrier ROMs, this rom is customizable because you can remove most of the apps that is NOT attached to Sense or Android and that will NOT break system components. The design of the ROM is to be a big improvement over the stock experience.
Features:
1. The following apps can be removed is so desired.
Amazon MP3 Store
Sprint TV and Widget
Sprint Football
Sprint Nascar
Sprint Navigation
Facebook For Android
HTC Mobile Evo Guide
Qik
Sprint Zone
Quickoffice
2.Apps2sd (Thanks Darktremor) original thread can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715938&highlight=apps2sd
3. Deodexed which means that the image is themeable some themes can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=655
4. Many scripts and code added like compcache, dalvik2cache, apps2sd, zipalign ........
Warning:
1. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PHONE "Rooted" TO USE THIS Image.
2. This Image will wipe your data however a data wipe is always recommended before you flash any ROM.
READ ME: This ROM is designed to be fully functional meaning that everything works with no workarounds. The design of this ROM is "traditionally stock-like" and "as is" please do not ask about adding or removing a feature or program, if you enjoy this ROM and want to use it as a base for your ROM by all means do so but please give credit where credit is due .........
This ROM may update frequently as I learn the architecture of "android" and this device, feedback is cool, but not all will be taken into consideration ..... Enjoy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every one of the apps you listed in #1 can be and have always been able to be removed without breakin sense... always.
You said any app can be removed without breaking others... i can bet you differently. Sense is sense... there are things you just cant remove
Any odex or deodex rom and using root explorer can just delete those apps and a ton more.
My advise is to make a barebones one.
Right now, if i read your post correctly... everything is still there.. so what makes it ... what ever your calling it.
Not hating. Just stating a fact
And i dont see how this rom is any different from a stock rom other than you included apps on the sd card we can install...
Just asking thats all

the stock rom for this phone unlike many was very good not very bloated and functional the only thing I was doing was sharing my stock experience with the community but on the technical aspects my rom is different from the stock because it has many tweaks to it for even more functionality. I mean I'm just trying to figure out what kind of a chair you are sitting on claiming your facts ? anyway if you use any rom beside a open source rom, sense is integrated so deeply into the android core os that removing part of it most certainly breaks something in settings or a system dependant component. for example use a rom that has sense removed and go to your settings in the personalize section and see how many you can get it to force close? With my rom nothing is broke everything works plus .... say if you use this rom install some apps from your sd that you have .... and you decide to use another rom then reflash this one the apps you installed will be there already re-installed ... I dont believe the stock rom does that. So instead of trying to inpose your opinionated facts to me why don't you do us all a favor and read, if you don't like what you see then move on.
Thank you
JD

just download android terminal emulator from the market (I might include it in a later version), open it, type in "su", accept the superuser permissions, then type in "onandroid", and the rest is obvious. It creates a nandroid directly to your CWM folder with todays date for later restore, and the best part is you dont have to turn your phone off, and its faster! the original post is here: [v5.8] Online Nandroid Backup / Nandroid Backup without re-booting, and includes pictures.

thanks. im going to add goo.im OTA in a small update, but after that im going to work on adding Beats audio, some 3G/wifi, and UI speed tweaks, and start adding more than the sense 4.0 clock. apps included. Im also going to try to make the camera and camcorder get better picture and sound with some tweaks also. and debating on a whole UI/launcher change to attempt to get newer versions of sense. thanks for trying out my rom!

If your still keeping an eye on this, I am aware that OTA update center in version 1.04 is broken. build.prop issue, ill post a fix sometime today. also if anybody has any tweaks they want to add, just link to the original thread and ill look at it. if it is a flashable.zip I can add it.
Just wanted to keep everyone updated. I will hopefully release v1.05 this week to fix the issues in v1.04. I will also work on adding the mobile hotspot hack in the next version or two. Im testing on my evo right now while im out of town. Also after about v1.06 I will attempt to bring my own AOSP roms, and I might just add it to this thread. I just got my laptop screen fixed, so I can work on my roms more. Once im done with that im thinking of doing a port from the evo 4g lte, and then start focusing on my tablet.

okay, so v1.05 is out, ill test it, and hopefully release it tonight. also I will try to work alot more on new features this week. v.1.05 should fix all v1.04 issues. Also OTA update is down for server upgrades, so download from goo for now (OTA available there also)
Update: v1.05 is out and working. OTA update center was removed due to server side issues after an upgrade. see the change log for the newest features, and download from goo.im/devs/evodev (link in first post)

The Thread is open I hope that anyone with a Cruz T301 is still interested in this ROM. Most people have moved on but I figured I would provide files downloads and help. Anyone that wants to play around with my update and put different things into can. Feel free to use it as a base for other Roms.
Awesome.. Don't quit now! Over clock kernel would be the best thing it's ever seen!
Been using this rom for a few days now and I love it... it's fast, sleek and haven't had any problems with it... excluding the root issue..
Any updates on when the root issue is going to be fixed? I've tried my hand at rooting it myself but keep running into the dreaded "SU: unknown user root" issue.

Problem with Opera
Hello,
First thank you for this great work.
I installed Resurrection 2.2.1 version without problem.
By cons when I try to install Opera message says "your device is not compatible."
Same with Firefox. Any idea?
Thank you for your answers.
Excuse my bad English is not my native language!
Works great! Thanks Feyer
Hi I am a noob android enthusiast that got a t301 from a friend to mess around with. After reading a lot of your earlier forum work on this project I decided to try the Alpha Resurrection and it works great Thank you soooooo much for making this tablet useful again! Your tweaks and deletions of garbage was just what this baby needed. Don't know where we would all be without yourself and Steven J Hill, but thanks to you both. I signed up for xda just to tell ya that. Your directions were clear and worked great! I think some folks that were having probs may not have cleared out all caches like you suggest, as I have encountered similar probs on other roms. All in all a great ROM and it has been fun reading the forums and watching ya grow into your own dev self Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching for updates.
Great development

No I have no clue how to develop a kernel... had a few guys peeter out on me with development and so I have slowed down on making a new version. For some reason Root doesn't hold and I have tried all the tricks I know. It is weird developing for MiPS
I had never heard of MiPS before this tablet. But I'm starting to mess with developing, so I'll give a kernel a go when I get to that point

Yea it seems like MIPS is generally used in china only and so development is very limited. You can always swing by http://www.imgtec.com/mips/developers/ and get started there... kinda a pain to work with since I have not really found any other developers to help me out I'm not really an experienced dev haha

Well if you find success let me know and I will take a crack at adding it to the updated version of the ROM. I am still trying to find out why it doesn't allow super user access. It has been a real puzzler.

[ROM]CyanMobile[Beta 4.0] [6-14-2013]

Welcome to the new age of Gingerbread!!
Gingerbread? WTF? Yes I know everyone wants ICS&JB but they have not had any of this kicka$$ gingerbread yet.
4g, HDMI, SMS/MMS, FFC, Flash media (streaming internet video), Every freature HTC offered with this phone works with this rom (even the kick stand. LOL!!)
I have been in my kitchen cooking up something special for yall OG users. Until now you had a difficult choice to make. Use gingerbread to have full function of your OG or use ICS/JB and have the looks but lose some features. Now this is not just another themed out gingerbread rom trying to be ICS/JB. This is a complete rework of GB with many features found in ICS/JB back ported. I did not create this rom but I did merge the source code with multiple OG device trees to get it working. The real credit goes to SquadZone!! These guys are awesome and have done a super job with this. So for everything that works thank them and for everything that is broken blame me.
So lets take care of the b.s. first.
https://github.com/CyanMobile - Source I used to build from
https://github.com/atyoung - Source used for kernel
https://github.com/jlmancuso/KAKA - My source of KAKA (not uploaded yet, still testing before releasing)
My kernel K.A.K.A. is still in the works. I just have not had time to get it finished yet.
Thanks to:
SquadZone - for an awesome source
Atyoung - for the best gb kernel
Evervolv - for being the best (oh and I stole some of my device tree from them)
CM - another awesome group (yes I stole some of my tree from them too)
B-boy - for most of the black and transparent apps (http://b-boytm.webnode.com/themed-apps)
Google - without I would never have been able to build this beast from source (by Google I am refering to the search engine mostly)
PlatinumPenguin - who donated his old 3vo to me (this will also be built as a tablet style rom later for him)
thedemonic - testing and repacking the boot.img for me (thanks a million!!!)
....more will be added later
Also always feel free to hit me up on google (plus+, talk, or old fashion email, [email protected])
Beta 3.0 is out but it is not the grand enchilada I have planed. With all the small things acting up I have had to put the cool things to the side for the moment and focus on the core. I have been running this all day downloading, surfing, streaming music, video, playing with dropbox. So I think we are now ready to have enjoy this Beast of a Rom.
Install Instructions
1. Backup your current ROM
2. Download and flash current rom
3. Do not flash anything else (except kernels) If you flash any mods you will most likely have issues.
4. Reboot phone and wait. First boot takes a very long time and you may get a reboot right after the splash screen. This is normal no worries also the boot song will finish before the rom is done loading.
5. Go to Post 2 and setup your gps and a2sd if you want it.

For those who want to donate for the development of this rom I am sorry but I am no longer taking dontaions. If you feel like you must give I am providing a link to the Red Cross and would like for yall to give them whatever it is yall wanted to give to me. Mother Earth has come to take that which is her's and I like most others would like to give to those who really need it. Link below is for Red Cross donations. Again anything you felt like donating to me please send it to the Red Cross instead. I have given yall the link below and please help those who really need it.

If you donate to the Red Cross I will make sure yall get your name on the thanks list and I will put you on my beta tester list so you will not only help those who have faced natural disasters but you can help make this a better rom for everyone.
Lets keep this tread clean (free of non-development chatter)

Special Release
Since I have what looks to be a stable base I wanted to go ahead and let yall use it. This does not have the custom kernel or install script yet (been busy working Lol! So I have not finished the kernel. This release has 100% of the included apps working and so far I have had great feed back from my beta testing team. Thanks guys. All of the apps from 2.3 are still in 3.0 (transparent & inverted) with only a few changes to the versions. So far everything downloaded from the market works without any issues.
BOOT AUDIO WARNING
this audio should be 99% safe (nothing bad) yet might still give you a shock factor
Special Flashing Instructions
1. DO NOT!! flash any extra tweaks, or mods!! The can and most likely result in bootloops and will most likely require a complete wipe and reinstall of CyanMobile!!!
2. You can flash other GingerBread AOSP kernels. This could also have adverse effects. Like always this is just a warning if you flash it you might have to fix it. LOL..
3. THIS WILL WIPE everything but your sd-ext and sdcard. I always suggest wiping your sd-ext if you have problems with the first install. You made a backup right?
4. Flash Rom
5. Reboot (Gapps included with rom) WARNING: DONT UPDATE ANY GOOGLE APP THIS WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IF YOU DO.
6. Wait and enjoy your boot audio (first boot takes a very long time)
7. Please let the phone sit for a few mins before the first use this ROM has lots of things it only does on the first boot so as hard as it can be please, please, please wait. It will be worth it.
8. Now reboot phone and enjoy the wonders of GingerBread!! Who knew it could be so good?
9. Now for those who read all the instructions before doing something I have a treat for you.
10. Now go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42092464 follow the instructions I posted there to enable a2sd (yes a small part of my CyanMobile settings map, Now for sale as an app for only $19.99 Lol!!

Removed adfree (romtoolbox has a better version)
Changed boot audio (that other one was giving me a headache)

KAKA Kernel information and change log
KAKA is now available for your Og!!!
What is KAKA?
KAKA stands for Kick A$$ Kernel Aosp version. It is an updated and modified version of the Mason G series kernel.
What has been done to make it KAKA?
Well this is the first release and also my first kernel so it is a work in progress. I have added 3 governors and enabled SWAP.
What is in KAKA's future?
I plan on adding more features such as two way call recording, adding more IO schedulers, and bringing this up to the latest Linux kernel version.
So what governors have been added?
I have created/modified 3 of my own while also including other available governors. Here is a list of all the governors.
Brazilianwax
conservative
intelllidemand
interactive
interactivex
lagfree
lazy
lionheart
lulzactive
minmax
ondemand
ondemandx
performance
powersave
samurai
savegedzen
scary
smartass
smartass2
smoothass
superbad
userspace
virtuous
wheatly
and my new ones
deathbysoap
diablo
hipkat
This kernel will be a match for the rom. More options than most users will know what to do with. For now it is only available with CyanMobile or from source if you want to compile it yourself. There is also plans for ICS and JB versions some time in the future.
So what are deathbysoap, diablo, and hipkat?
Well they are my tribute to 3 of our great XDA members and modified versions of existing governors. I have chosen each governor to reflect (somewhat) each member and then modified each one to make them better.
Death by Soap - is a modified version of intellidemand
Diablo - is a modified version of SmartAss2
HipKat - is a modified version of Conservative
Each one has been tweaked to give better performance and battery life. Specifics of the modifications will be provided later.
What I/O Schedulers will be available?

If all users would please start using this simple form located below it will make things easier for everyone. Hint: if you use the red color code already in the form it will make reading the bug/issue report easier for me and other users who might have similar issues. Thanks for all your feedback without it this rom could never improve.
Bug/issue Report Form Link:
1. Rom version - beta#
2. Kernel -stock
3. H-boot - 6.16.16
4. Recovery type - RA/twrp/cwm
5. Hardware type, radio, and baseband ( not required but can be helpful) - baseband 2.15.00.01.15
6. What happened (crash, reboot, boot loop, etc.) - system crash
7. What you were doing when it happened - trying out xda app
8. Does it happen every time or is it a random issue - everytime
9. If it is an app please list the app version and if the app was downloaded from the market or installed via other method - inverted xda app from xda website
10. Are you using a2sd? Which script? - Yes, the built in a2sd / DT's a2sd
11. If using a2sd please list sdcard partition specs - 16 gig class 10 Sandisk, 256 MB swap, 1.0 gig ext 4 sd-ext partition
12. Can you provide a logcat (a logcat app comes with the rom to make this part easier) - no logcat dont know how
13. Logcats should be loaded to pastebin or attached to your bug report post. - https://pastbin.com/user/logcat.txt or attach to post and rename to logcat.zip (do not compress just change the extension because xda will only allow up to 512 KB text files)
13. Any tweaks, mods, or zips you flashed besides those I provided yall - no, no crossbreeder either yet.
14. Any other information you think might be important. - im a noob/just burned a bowl/just finished a 12 pack
Nice... Kinda first.
What you mean kinda first? Mine dont count. LOL! I pull two extras off the top to keep the OP clean and neat. Oh by the way for those who get the rubix cube just tap it and it will go away. Also random boot animations are not really setup yet it just has the ones for the nexus which is where I stole the script from. LOL! Well I guess stole is not the correct term since I gave credit. Swiper no swipe!!!!!!!!!!!
oh well. this was to be an edit of my change log but somehow became a post. not enough sleep and too much bud
Guess I should flash my zip since I have not tested it yet. This was pulled straight from my phone and zipped up and sent to the net before I even thought to test it. I sure hope it works.
Edit: Rom works but not like what I had in my phone. v6 freaked things up. Busybox is massive a su bianary is missing along with a couple of apps and mods. New upload this afternoon.
Kinda second....

Wow does this have a ton of options. I haven't seen a ROM this feature packed since MIUI. It also runs fast even in Boot Manager, which runs from the sd card. I can only imagine how fast it runs from the phone. Still exploring, but excellent job!

yeah the download is good he just needs a different install script. i have not updated it to the jellybean installer. well actually i did check which one it used by default during the source build. the new download will have the updated script plus i will remove the market updater. even though this rom claims to be 2.3.8 it still requires an ancient market and will not run any other version. i will have to dig around and find a tweaked version of market to include also.
new update will be up within the next couple of hours. i am working on it now. also sorry about the dl size while digging around the rom i noticed the size of xbin (which is where busybox is) talk about a massive error there. rom should be a few hundred megs smaller next go round.

Man, I thought that was just me: "What the......is there a 'War and Peace' option on this ROM? Man, that's a big file....." Now I just have to exercise restraint and wait for the update, was part-way through dl'ing Beta 2 and it borked on me. Itching to try this one out

Again sorry about the size of that one. At 4 am it is hard to remember to check all that stuff. I have beta 2.1 setup and I am testing it now. Although this is still a large rom at 317 megs it is better than that 560+ bs of beta 2. Also just about every extra app I added is located in the data partition so if you dont want or need it you can easily uninstall it.
The update will be done shortly I have to do a bit of work to get the installer script squared away since I am converting it over to the JB binary. With luck it will be on the servers before 3 PM CST!
Edit: Bad news for yall status 7 people. The JB binary is having issues with this rom. I am going to try making a new kind of install and see it I can get yall on this too. It will be flashed from the bootloader like a RUU if I can make it work. Keep your eye out for the beta 2.1 RUU style release. Until then yall are still a no go on CyanMobile. SORRY
Well this sucks. Started upload over hour ago and only at 5% with estimated 6+ hrs remaining. Going to try uploading from my cell with es file explorers sftp feature. Might only take two hours that way.

I was just kidding about the file size, nothing but respect for devs, here. Can't wait to try this out, good things come to those who wait, I figure...
