Exactly. I was trying to figure out the firmware but couldn't tell if it was 2.23 or 1.88. Either way, still need more info about the device

Also seems to be for the world wide edition, hense the wwe tag in file name. If your not sure what it is don't install it. Are you rooted and super cid? I know the jb ota will brick a supercid phobe not sure if ics did the same

In any case, why not just update from the phone itself or the HTC website.
Thanks for the info about the "wwe" part. It makes me wonder if it is universal for all evitas

I resolved the problem using the proper RUU
Enviado desde mi HTC One XL usando Tapatalk 2

If you're carrier does not have an RUU and you have to OTA
Steps are:
S-OFF if you are not
RUU to the latest you can find an RUU for.
Do not bother rooting or anything.
Copy OTA zip file to your phone.
Boot to stock recovery. (boot to bootloader, select recovery, When an image comes up press and hold vol up and press power)
Error will come up saying no SD card found. This is normal.
Select install from phone storage or install from internal storage. Do not select install from SD card as it looks for an EXTERNAL sd card using that option.
Then select your OTA zip file
It will flash, then reboot phone, it will finish flashing.
Then you will have the latest Software ver.
Then you can reflash TWRP or CWM or whatever and then flash your rom of choice.

I have read that if you want to update from 2.3.3 to stuck 2.3.5 and you have the alpharev hboot (6.xxxx) your update crash and the mobile never starts.
Before do the update you have to change the hboot to 2.x version .
It's true? Where can I download the 2.x hboot?
Thanks a lot an sorry for my english.

Can't get to recovery.

So I was going to switch roms on the fly and use flash image gui and found the rom, selected recovery img, and flashed. Success, so i rebooted to recovery. Weird part is, it took me to bootloader. Thinking I hit the wrong thing I moved to recovery and it sends me to fastboot. I assume I did something wrong and have to flash twrp again?

That worked! Im in TWRP now. Thanks so much! Worried I wouldn't be able to boot up but I did. Phew!! Dont do that again... ok then. Is there any way to flash the boot img on the fly without fastboot?
Depends on the Rom. A lot of them you just download Rom to sd card then intall through twrp. No img fastboot needed on a lot of roms when using twrp. What img are u trying to flash?

Idk any. I was trying to flash clean rom 5.1 but it always gets stuck on the boot.

Hmm I believe that viper 2.4.2 addresed camera issues. To get that version you have to do ota update and it pushes update to your phone ...so if you have viper 2.4.0 just check for update as you would normally

That method won't work with S-on on 2.14 hboot lol
Whoever made that post should have made that clear.
In any case 2.14 has write protection, stopping you from writting the CID and the exploit for 3.18 doesn't work for non-at&T phones.
You would need to make a linux boot disk and run JET tool to downgrade your hboot and then Super CID, then S-OFF then RUU.
Also, that method is for the HTC ONE and you are in EVITA one xl forums... what phone do you have? You're all over the place -_-

Not rooted properly?

I've been reading so much my eyes are square and can't seem to find anything that helps me out. Some of the solutions to similar problems aren't working for me and so I figured I'd ask the community. You've been so helpful in the past! Even if you can point me in the right direction...
So, I have the HTC One X (AT&T type one even though it's with Telus) and I've gone through the steps in the past to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP and have been able to flash custom Rom's, and when in my bootloader screen, it says the following:
*****Tampered*****
*****Unlocked*****
Evita PVT Ship S-on RL
Hboot-2.14.0000
Radio-0.23a.32.09.29
OpenDSP-v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMCboot
Nov 26 2012, 18:37:14:-1
(I have TWRP v2.3.3.1)
Now, I'm wanting to S-Off and get Super CID but I keep getting errors when I try any of the different ways in the forums.
I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672284 but I keep getting an error message right at the very beginning.
Basically, I want to S-off so that I can downgrade my touchscreen so I can install some of the other ROM's out there. I've just been doing it by installing the zip and then flashing the boot img.
What am I missing? I feel like somewhere along the way I've missed something that is preventing me from getting S-off and Super CID.
(Please don't flame me!! I have been trying everything I find and can't seem to figure it out. I promise I'm not a noob that hasn't bothered reading! I've been reading and trying for about 10 days so far trying to get this)
Thank you in advance for any help!!

I've checked it. Still don't know what do you want to achieve. And you didn't say which hboot do you have and which ROM. You just want root on your phone? For this you need to have your bootloader unlocked (at HTC Dev site) and then have a custom recovery flashed (latest TWRP for ex) and after that flash the superSU zip.
You can try by using one of these tools that make things easier: WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit or All-In-One Toolkit
You probably had something messed up during the process. After flashing a custom recovery, you can flash theoretically any ROM built for your hboot and most of the ROMs here are pre-rooted (have root included).
TIPS: Use a Windows 7 PC with USB 2.0 ports, Windows 8/8.1 and USB 3.0 have issues on certain configurations.

ROM name should be in the About Phone section. I really don't know what you've done there, rooting does not break camera. It seems you flashed some boot.img during the process as it looks like by that batch file you used. Maybe that has broken something in your ROM.
You could try flashing another ROM to see if the problem still persist

Theoretically yes. You could also reflash the ROM you're using now.
