Im just wondering is anyone has found a solution to this problem. i have uninstalled\reinstalled updated drivers. I cant get the computer to recognize the phone. ADB is pretty much useless at this point. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
edit....Rebooting didnt work. I finally got it to work though. I rebooted into recovery and restored my stock rom. that still didnt fix it. I then totally removed motorola device manager from my pc. i re installed mdm and the drivers, plugged the phone in and all was good. I then restored my rom and it was working. Now i can get rid of this stupid bootloader unlocked warning. Thanks guys
Even though adb wasnt working you could still get rid of the unlock warning. You fastboot the logo...
Fastboot still works fine in aokp

Very good to know, I'm loving this rom and I'm not having near the problems that everyone is talking about. BT connects instantly, data works quickly, no fc on phone, and battery is sick. Keep up the great work

I was trying to root my Nexus S
I got to bootloader, flashed rootboot.img and clockwork. Now I'm stuck on the unlocked google reboot.
When I try mounting the sdcard via usb in clockwork I can't get it to show on my comp, so I can't drop the zip files in there to update the phone. I believe that's the last step I need to get my baby working again.
If this is the case do you have any suggestions on how I can get files in there? I thought there might be a fastboot command to move the files there but I can't seem to figure it out.
If not can you please point me in the right direction
I tried searching the forums for a solution but everything I come across does not seem to help my particular needs, I apologize if I missed the solution elsewhere but I'm at wit's end right now
All suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thanks!
I am almost having the same issue. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed recoverymod but was unable to locate the superuser zip file so I rebooted my nexus. When I tried to start over again and fastboot I'm getting an error with CMD saying its waiting for device. On the nexus when in fastboot mode at the very bottom it says fastboot failsomething or another.
Any suggestions as to how I can get fast boot working again?!

I'm obviously no pro! but from what I gather it sounds like your phone's not being recognized. I had that problem and this guide seemed to solve it so you might find it of some help
nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-install-nexus-s-windows-usb-drivers
Thanks, it can't be a driver issue though since I was able to use fastboot to unlock the bootloader. Although it sure does seem like its not connecting properly.

blahhhh you jinxed me. I just realized how to use ADP, figured it was the way to push the files I needed to SD card and now I'm getting your error. I'll reply with a solution if I find one, hope you do the same! two noobs are better than one after all!!
Yikes! Please do, it's driving me insane!

Fixed it, a simple battery pull fixed my problem. Rooted it this morning!

Think you can tell me what driver you're using? When I plug my phone in I see the following in the device manager
ADB Interface
SAMSUNG Android Composite ADB Interface
I tried your battery trick to no avail, I even had ADB running and tried the battery trick and it won't work
Also, fastboot is recognizing my device.
Any help would really be appreicated. it's day 3 with no phone now
I'm at work now till 9 and I'm in CA. Ill look it up when I get home. U have to DL the Google something or another driver in sdk. I remember 4 was at the end of it. Ill post when I get home.
Your phones not working at all?!

yeah I just switched to the google android service 4 "something or other" not in the mindset to find it. My phone's working it's just in super retardo mode right now. All that's working is the bootloader screen and the clockwork orange screen. I've kind of abandoned all hopes of getting adb to work on it because I've tried EVERTHING (except for what will work). I'm trying to figure out how to get clockwork to work with my pc that way I can get files into the sdcard which is what I was trying to use adb for in the first place.
ps... can you send a pic of your homescreen? I miss mine
U don't need adb to transfer files to your nexus s. Make sure debugging is turned on and mount your SD. You should get a promt to transfer files to and from your device via comp. You can use cmd to transfer with fastboot. I just got home and haven't even downloaded anything for root other than free tethering so I'm not sure which app will allow screen shot capture.

I'm relatively sure debug is still on otherwise I would not have been able to do what I already did. what's the command to transfer files to sd via fastboot? I tried "push" but that did not seem to work.
Once you plug the phone in.and mount SD.windows will automatically recognize it and prompt what woulf you like to do. Just choose transfer files. Go to the file you want yo transfer and right click. Choose send to E. At least on my comp the nexus shows up as e drive so choose which one it shows up as.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. It seems the phone's not being recognized by the computer when I mount it. The drivers show up in device manager when I boot to bootloader but then disappear when I go into clockwork. So I never get a chance to see it in "computer" when I try mounting the sdcard. Any thoughts?
Hi all
I have successfully flashed Cyanogen nightly on my phone. However, when I connect it to my PC, it doesn't give me an option to transfer files to and from my phone to my computer. All I see is the USB debugging on my notification bar. I have tried this advice from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13636060&postcount=1465
I have also installed the drivers from LG. When I use the support tool to update it, it says that they cannot find a connection between the phone and my computer. Would that possibly be an issue?
Thanks!
EDIT UPDATE: When I follow the instruction from the link above, I get an error saying "Windows found driver for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it.
LGE Android Composite USB Device
This device cannot start.(Code 10)
I hope I can get some help! Thanks again!
I'm gonna be home in a minute if you want me to upload the LG driver exe I used and know works I can.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yeah, that would be great. Let me know when you can.
http://www.multiupload.com/W2Z7Z5S5GX
I really hope it works for you *fingers crossed*
Unfortunately that didn't work either.
What's weird is that when I connect my phone to my computer, that icon that lets you know that the USB is connected doesn't show up at all. The icon where you can select to copy files to/from your computer.
I've tried many things but haven't fixed this problem yet.
I really hope someone else can help sorry
Yeah, thanks for your help.
Have you tried restarting both the phone and the pc?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yes I sure have. Any other suggestions?
When I try to update the LG drivers via the software support tool it gets stuck on checking the connection with the phone and tells me to unplug the battery, restart the phone, and try again. When I do that, I get the same problem.
I'm still working on this same issue. Today I used the ROM for recovery linked below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
It worked and I was able to transfer files to my internal SD with the stock ROM. I then flashed CM7 once again but had the same problem. I then used the CM Nexus GB by Faux123 and once again had the same problem. When I plug in my USB, debugging icon shows up but the USB transfer doesn't show at all.
I find it weird that it worked with the stock ROM but not with either of CM7 or CM Nexus.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
EDIT: I finally got fastboot to see it. I uninstalled moto usb drivers, and installed a different version. I am back on 3.0.1 now. My camera still doesn't work though. The app starts, but the back camera just shows a black screen. The front one works.
Any ideas?
I am having serious issues with fastboot. I was running Tiamat Rom 2.2.1 Moray. My camera didn't work with it though. I flashed the stock 3.2.2 ROM. The camera still doesn't work, and wifi won't connect now.
I figured I would start over, and flash the original images for 3.0
I have the sdk installed, and the motorola drivers. ADB sees my xoom, but fastboot doesn't. It just says waiting for device when I try to send it commands. My xoom is in fastboot mode when I send them.
I have tried to use the PDANet drivers as suggested by others while searching google for answers, and that didn't do anything.
When the xoom is in fastboot and connected to my PC, the device manager doesn't list anything for it. What other drivers do I need?
Any help would be appreciated.
Did the back camera work when the Xoom was in out-of-the-box-state? That means before you laid your hands on it and flashed a custom ROM?
I'm inclined to think it's a hardware defect since the front camera works and thus the app seems to work...
That is what I am leaning towards now also. It did work when I first got it. I am not 100% sure when it stopped, as I only used it a few times right after I purchased it.
ok so i really need some help with this, here's the problem:
My nexus s won't charge or either be recognized by the computer so i've had to charge it with the core cables of the charger connecting the red to the + and the black to the - anyways i need to return my phone to wind but my phone is rooted and they won't accept it so i really need help to relock the bootloader without using my computer because it won't recognize it any suggestions please?
You're out of luck... Unless you used gingerbreak, which I'm not sure if it works either, you need to use computer to unroot your phone... Have you tried another cable maybe?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
yes i try 4 different ones none of them worked
You can unroot it no problem. What you can't do is relock the bootloader.
ye figured that out (after runing again the update to ICS) i guess ill stay with my phone like this now.. Now quick qestion is it possiible to root it again? haha rom manager is not flashing the Clockworkmod :S
You would need a computer to root now. Should have flashed su after you flashed the update.
guess im completly f*cked now, all i want is to restore to where i had my apps.. is that possible?
I had the same charging problem, but realised that it was charging it just doesn't say it anywhere.
The only place it tells you that it's charging is under setting > battery.
I thought my phone was gone too, but just try plugging it in and going into the settings and it might say charging
You can still root, assuming you have a non-stock recovery. Otherwise you may be out of luck.
im trying to find out how to have recovery or restore my phone on different way (not using a pc) rom manager keeps giving an error that it doesnt have permission so i cant flash recovery from ROM Manager
You can't.
so theres no way to make ROM manager work either?
You need to be rooted to flash a recovery with rom manager. Which you are not. You are stuck there .
yeh well after trying everything cant do Sh*t about it im stuck with this phone can't do much now just the basics
Hi all,
I've got a Nexus S 4G CDMA Sprint phone running Stock ICS 4.0.4 IMM76D.
My bootloader is unlocked from previous roots and whatnot.
My problem is that my phone is not being recognized by my computer at all. We're talking complete nonrecognition. No yellow triangle in device manager, no pop-ups, nothing. This phone will just not be read by my computer! I've tried different cords, different computers, re-installation of drivers after resetting my computer, installed PDA net, did a factory reset on the phone, I've literally been on Google for hours upon hours upon hours trying to figure this out and can't figure out why the computer is not recognizing the phone and why the phone is not allowing me to put it into usb mounting. It is however, charging via the computer and wall plug. I can get into stock 3e android recovery, fastboot using V-Up and Power and I can get it into download mode. It is NOT recognized in any modes by the computer nor other computers including my Linux box. The phone states that the usb control initializes but then ends a moment later. I am thinking this is a hardware issue but that leaves me with two issues:
If I was to go to Sprint to have it fixed they would realize my bootloader was unlocked thus voiding the warranty and I'd feel like quite an idiot at the store
If it is hardware related why is the charge working on the device.
I have also tried to bend up the usb plate to make it touch the pins better but that did not help at all. I am at my wits end and really need some help here, I've done everything I could find on Google and here plus more. I want to just return it but with the bootloader unlocked this is really not a possibility. I am looking for help to either become able to lock the bootloader without it having to be connected via the computer so I can then get it fixed if it is hardware related or if I can get the darn thing to be read by the computer once more. so yea, this is where I am at and I would appreciate it so much if someone could help me out, thanks guys!!!
Wireless adb in playstore should help.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA
That would be perfect! Only problem is that it requires root access on the phone which I am unable to obtain because I cannot access the phone. Is there a way to root the phone without having to connect it via the computer? Something like an update.zip with files able to be flashed through android recovery 3e? If I can get root access than wireless adb would be perfect.
*ultimately if I could remove signature checking in Android Recovery 3e that would work so I could in turn try to root the phone and install a different recovery to then try a different rom to see if that in turn fixes the issue.

You might be able to download your rom of choice and rename it update.zip. I'm not sure if it will flash though....someone else chime in if I'm wrong. You can use wireless file transfer if needed.

Yea I've tried that, everything gets shot down by the recovery with a E:Signature Verification Failed. Thank you for your help so far but I don't think this is something that is going to be helped. I've put in a ticket to Samsung for a repair under it's warranty. In the past I've sent in a rooted phone and they've fixed it so I think I'm going to give that a shot. Just don't want to be without a phone for 2+ weeks.
Well good luck...you are running stock unrooted so it shouldn't matter. It is a dev phone for damn sake. Sorry couldn't help.

Well if you want to download a custom rom... Since you are on this forum. Download any rom (preferably CM9 since its quite good from my experience). Flash the stable version and wait till everything is completed. Now when you flash make sure you download a recovery...eg ClockWorkMod Recovery from google market. You should now have a custom rom installed and download wireless adb as chappy said. See if that works
