[Q] Can I use AT&T I727 on T-Mobile after unlocking? Are they identical? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi Everyone,
I am about to get an I727 (Galaxy S2 Skyrocket) online. I want to give it to my wife so she can have a reliable phone.
After getting it network unlocked, can I use it with T-Mobile, especially WiFi Calling (I guess I need Stock T-Mobile rom?)
I just want to make sure T-Mobile's Galaxy S2 is identical to AT&T's I727 Skyrocket, and network compatible.
Thanks in advance to those who care to reply.
I did a little bit of searching both here and online (after finally getting the model numbers of T-Mobile and AT&T) the result is they work, but data will not work with each other's networks. So unless I want to use them as 2G devices, and spend a good deal of time trying to root them, 727 won't fully work on T-Mobile network.

Flash a T-Mobile radio. Read this sticky thread.

Rooting is easy. Read the sticky threads and you'll have no problems. Just make sure you read the sticky's fully.

[Q] Galaxy SII GT-I9100 doesn't get 3G on T-mobile network?

Hi guys.I have simple mobile sim card (which works with T-mobile towers) and I get galaxy sii gt-i9100 (universal version). the problem is I'm getting 2g (edge) speed only, I read that you can flash your radio firmware after rooting to get HSMA+ mode then you'll have the 3g\4g internet.I already rooted my device but I don't know what to do now!
please anyone can help?
I need some help about that too, I wish this post had more attention, and replies. So I'm kinda moving it up right now.
Btw it might be impossible for us to get 4g, but I'll be happier when I get 3g instead of 2g. so, I'm looking for a solution too, I'll keep you posted if I find anything helpful.

Unfortunately there is no solution for that. I already sold out my phone and got new Galaxy s3 (T-MOBILE VERSION) from ebay for 519$ and I'm enjoying the 4G bless..if you need any further assistance I'll be more than glad to help.

2 different companies
2 different philosophies
there is no bootloaders to worry about or s-off or any of that crap on samsung phones. its easy to swap out the modems without bricking your device
HTC phones are completely different. swap out the radio and if the radio doesnt work, it will probably brick it.
Samsung has ODIN and Heimdall which are lifesavers when it comes to hacking
HTC has......... RUUs as long as you didnt brick with a bad radio flash
also, the tmo samsung t989 and the skyrocket 727 are the SAME phone....with only a change to some firmware and i believe the positioning of the accellorometer
i really wish that hack had never been discovered because since then, EVERY device that comes out that same question gets asked.....its not fair! they can do it on phone X how come it wont work on phone M?!?
i didnt take all of that stuff into consideration. well i guess i will hold onto my skyrocket for now. thx!
Seeing as the One S gets both AT&T and T-Mobile 3G/4G I assume AT&T purposely blocked the bands because they suck.
Hey guys, try to put all your efforts into this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610323
Hope isn't lost. It should work, but it won't be as easy as swapping radios from an identical device.

Nexus S 4G Flash to MetroPCS

I'm currently on the Samsung Galaxy Indulge and want to upgrade my phone soon. I was looking at the Connect at Metro, but heard about flashing the Nexus S to MetroPCS. I'm really interested in doing this and just have some questions:
1. I'm having some difficulty understanding if 3g will work or not. I know 4G won't, but does 3g or is it just 1x?
2. I'm not dumb with phones and computers and likely could flash it myself with the instructions, but how difficult has it been for everyone?
3. What OS is it on?
4. So if flashed I'll get the whole shabang - talk, text, web (I believe the answers yes, just making sure )
Thanks!
maybe try looking in the ns4g dev section...i'll even make it a lil easier for you, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636058

Captivate wifi calling with t-mobile sim card

Hi, I have a question about my Samsung captivate that is unlocked and running CM9. I have a phone plan with tmobile, and was wondering if I could get the wifi calling feature that is on the vibrant on my captivate. I am comfortable with flashing custom roms and the like, so if I have to make some changes, that is fine.
In short, my question is “Can I get the wifi calling app that is available on the tmobile vibrant on my unlocked captivate running CM9”.
Thanks, Ben Finch
I'm going to assume you have an up to date SIM from T-Mobile. Some older cards that came out just about the time the vibrant did were incompatible with Wi-Fi calling, and required people to get new ones. So, if it doesn't work, that's a possibility.
I work in a phone store, got to see that action first hand.
As for Wi-Fi calling, you shouldn't have to hack unless you're running a stock Rom on the captivate that has unknown source installations (side loading) blocked by default. If that's the case, browse the stickies.
Wi-Fi calling, last I checked, was simply a regular apk. Check out the vibrant and galaxy s 4g forums, I'm sure it's posted there somewhere. I'm out of town and using my phone, otherwise I'd be able to extract it from my wife's g2 and post it. PM me if you don't find it there, I think I can get it from my desktop eventually.

Hi Ben,
I'm having the same exact issue. Did you ever find a solution? If so, please advise. Both Samsung and T-Mobile reps say it's not possible to have Wi-Fi calling with Captivate. Seems there should be a way.

[Q] Need to root to use T-Mobile?

Alright, I've flashed the phone w/ the UVMC6 radio and still nothing. I'm using an AT&T branded Skyrocket. I was told that rooting wasn't necessary but have read and it appears that it's "RATLOCKED" and I'm probably going to have to root it to allow it to use any other network provider's network. Can someone please let me know if this is the case? I have to go to bed, but I guess I'll play around with it some more tomorrow. Thanks.
Re: Will the Skyrocket on T-Mobile be able to use their LTE network?
Using the i757 modem with LTE APN settings has worked for others here with the skyrocket. You'll have to manually enter the tmo apn settings I believe though.
See this thread if you haven't already... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507825
Also, you might not want to spam the forum with multiple posts about the same general topic. If all of your thoughts are contained in one thread, it's much easier for others to figure out what's going on, and it will be looked upon as much more polite in the eyes of other readers.
