Hi Guys,
I just bought a T-Mobile compatible Straight Talk sim for my Atrix 4G with CM10 and I am having some problem getting data to work.
Now first off I used to have AT&T prepaid and could get data from there, but I decided to try Straight Talk since the $45 unlimited plan sounded nice. When I ordered the sim last week though, the only one they had available was the T-Mobile compatible sim. But I have a sim unlocked phone, so the customer support guy I was talking to said this would be ok.
Got the sim, installed it, phone and sms works, but no data. I've tried every APN I could find for both the AT&T and T-Mobile sims and none of them works for me.
I was wondering if you guys have some thoughts on what I might have missed, or maybe have some updated APNs that currently works today.
Thanks

I currently have an Atrix 4G working great where I'm from but I'm thinking about getting a skyrocket... Will it work with the same sim card my Atrix does...? Obviously it won't have the LTE speeds but I don't care... I also know I have to unlock it with cellunlockr.net that's not that big of a deal...
I did exactly the same thing. Had atrix aquired a skyrocket last week. Popd in my atrix sim could make calls but no data no text no web. So i called att . They need to know u have the lte phone u gota call and tell them or u will have no data they had to punch it in there system then i restarted my phone when she was done and i had data everything worked fine. But i do have anblte plan and wana use my lte so i went too att store this evening and they gave me and programed a lte sim card for free. But if your not uaing at&t obviously youll have to unlock the phone and in that case i dont see why it wouldnt work . Mines locked to att so they were the reason my data wasnt working
See why it wouldn't
I am one of the Atrix 4G people who have hopped on to the SGSIISR, Atrix 4G is used to work fine after unlocking in India. Just unlocked (by paying) last week the SR, I am pretty sure it will work. Will check out next time I am overseas.
You just have to make sure the GPRS/2G/3G/HSPA/LTE bands are supported by carriers wherever you want to use this phone. The phone will not support the T-Mobile 3G bands, so far as data is concerned you will get only Edge.
Hey all, my mom just got an unlocked AT&T Sharp FX Plus asd1 android 2.2 phone to replace her old phone. She uses AT&T prepaid service so when I was setting it up for her I just used my T-mobile sim card with a data plan which worked fine but when I put her sim in all I get is a sim card icon in the notification bar with an exclamation point. But the weird thing is not only is it an AT&T phone but it came unlocked and I rooted it I even did a factory reset but still nothing. Her prepaid sim card works on my rooted T-mobile G2 no problem I'm not really sure what to do she could I suppose get a tmobile prepaid sim card but I don't want to have her buy more stuff for something she may not be able to use. I thought of updating it to 2.3 like my phone but besides rooting it there is little in the way of development I really don't wanna have to tell her she's gotta sell it to get her money back. This shouldn't be that hard I've done stuff like this b4 with no problems what so ever am I missing something? Any info you guys could give me would be awesome and thanks in advance.
Call att and tell them you are changing phones. They have been locking sim cards to IMEI as of late.

Hey i have the same phone an unlocked AT&T SHARP FX PLUS but my problem is I can't get it to register with the tmobile service i have. I still got texts and calls but it wont connect to my gmail account and im afraid it may be charging me when im on an unlimited plan. Just wondering how you got it to work with your tmobile sim or if anyone else knows what i can do.
Hello,
I just purchased a samsung 1727 actually my Infuse quit on me so my friends over at Asurion (At&t's insurance ppl) sent me the skyrocket as my replacement phone.
My question is when I placed my personel SIM card and another sim (both have data plans btw) into the 1727 i noticed I didnt have a data network outside my wifi coverage area. This wasnt an issue with the infuse . Do I have to upgrade to an LTE sim card ? The rep at att.com said my old sim card isnt compatible with the NEW LTE network and she has to provision a new one so it will work in the 1727.. Does this make any sense , has anyone had the same issue thanks for any help .....
Think it makes some sense. I upgraded from a Tilt2 to the i727 when it was first released last year and had no data so I brought it over to local AT&T store. The clerk grabbed a new SIM, scanned it and punched in some stuff into the computer, and my i727 LTE was all set to go.
Needs a new SIM card

I think you are correct
I have the same thing on Rogers in Canada. I called them and they told me the same thing.
I haven't tried getting the new SIM yet, but I will reply back here when I do.
I've had my OnePlus One working great on Straight Talk (AT&T) for a couple weeks now. However, I am using an old SIM card. A lot of people are saying that an "LTE-compatible" SIM card is needed in order to get on LTE. I have ordered a new SIM from Straight Talk and am waiting for it to arrive.
What APN settings are you folks using for LTE? Also, what kind of speeds are you seeing?
Thank you!

I am patient waiting for the mail to get here today with my OPO.
I stopped by Wally World yesterday, and got a SIM. I am going to be switching from Verizon, so I will let you know how everything goes.
You need an LTE capable SIM. I'm on ATT and LTE works fine, but the IMEI's of the OPO are not LTE ready in ATT's database, so just give them the IMEI of another LTE capable phone that you own and you'll be fine.

That stinks - I don't have another LTE capable phone. Hopefully they'll get them set up with AT&T soon. I'm not clear from your post if you are on Straight Talk AT&T or directly on AT&T. If Straight Talk, which APN settings did you go with?

AT&T direct, but the straight talk APN's are built into CM so you shouldn't have to do anything to get LTE. Not sure if ST uses the same registration process where you have to give them your IMEI etc... But see what happens when you get your SIM.

I just received the SIM card and transferred my service to it on the Straight Talk website. The site gave these settings, which match the "StraightTalk ATT" settings built into CyanogenMod:
APN Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
I saw the H+ logo as I did before, and I was getting 3-6Mbps download as I was with the prior SIM card. I looked 10 minutes later, and there was a 4G icon there. I now get 8-16Mbps. Much better!
I was able to port my number from Verizon this afternoon and use the "StraightTalk ATT" APN.
I am getting about 20 Mbps down and 7 up.
New SIM
I'm on ST. My old sim, that worked in my galaxy note (GT-N7000), which didn't have LTE, I popped into my Huawei Ascend Mate2, after shaving it down to fit. H+, no LTE. Went online, ordered a new LTE microsim from ST, came about 4 days later. Card had a new IMEI number to use
not the one in the phone. Activated it, instructions said leave the old one in the phone til the signal disappeared. Took about 30 minutes, signal dropped, popped the new one in, threw in the APN settings from the card, rebooted and the LTE popped right up.
Card was less than 10 dollars, delivered.

That explains all the APN entries in addition to the ones I'd set up with my Nexus 5.
When I went from my Nexus 4 to Nexus 5 last November, I had to buy a new SIM ($7) to get LTE, but after that it was fine. Straight Talk AT&T in metro Detroit area.

Strangely, I have an AT&T SIM (Through Straight Talk), and I get LTE speeds on my Galaxy S3. Put it into my OnePlus One (with the same APN settings, and it only shows up as H+. I ordered a new SIM to see if that does the trick, but I'm finding the whole thing to be a bit baffling.

Since you already have a sim that is working on LTE, you dont actually need a new sim card... All you had to do was call Atnt and give tell them that you got a new phone and it is one plus one......they will then register your new phone on the network and you would be able to get LTE on the one using your old sim.......try it!!!
Hey my brother has a Galaxy S3 on verizon and hes not real tech savy so im going to flash it to Straight talk. Right now he has safestrap recovery and is running superliterom. His bootloader is locked. He got an straight talk activation kit from walmart and has the verizon-straight talk sim card into the phone. He has no mobile data but can still get regular phone signal. Can someone tell me how to completely flash the phone to straight talk from verizon?

Its merely a matter of contacting straight talk and giving them the IMEI of the phone and the sim card which you already have. No need to change apn or anything else

When I got the straight talk kit they didn't have the CDMA sim cards. But from what I've been told they now have them. There were only two sim cards when I bought the kit. One for TMobile and one for AT&T

Could you guys , anyone, tell me if you can roam on regional towers like verizon does with straight talk smart phones? I've tried selectel in the past and have had nothing but trouble thus far.
I tried activating an old droid x2 on tracfone and when I got it home it wouldn't roam on regoinal towers where verizon and tracfone dumb or feature phones will roam. I was told that tracfone android phones will only operate on verizon towers only. Since I had verizon before, and the tracfone coverage map covers my area, I assumed it would work. After a lot of back and forth travelling 45 min one way to activate on a verizon tower, and it finally did, I had zero coverage once I got about 30 minutes from home and then again none at home either. A tracfone rep as well as other forums said that tracfone androids only operate on real verizon towers, and at my home there's only regional towers.
So does anyone know if straight talk will roam on towers that verizon normally does? I know selectel did without data, voice only, at home on those regional towers, then something screwed up and it now only works on verizon towers or verizon network extenders which I don't own. Since selectel released their 4g sims, my selectel dealer said that would fix it. But no it didn't . I've been unable to get a straight answer from either selectel or the selectel dealer in my area, he originally flashed it to 3g only which he guaranteed me ws not illegal, but I wonder about that. Anyway, They can't get it fixed back properly.
If I can get a straight talk monthly plan cheap enough, I'd gladly switch as long as it roams on regional cdma towers that I have both voice and data on with verizon.
I just can't afford big red anymore, at the moment.
Thanks for any and all responses.
Nope - Straight Talk doesn't do roaming. You pay less, you get less... Don't expect ST to do OTA updates either - they won't!

No need for any OTA updates really. As a former VZW user I found out early to never take an ota from big red
