SL 101 with cwm. on ICS.
I have tried over and over and many different ways to figure this out.... here is what's happening.
"power on" is stuck in splash screen and WILL NOT recognize on my PC as a device or in ADB
"power + vol down" grants me recovery mode which WILL recognize.
SD card will not mount to device. (i purchased brand new)
Cannot seem to push any files to internal storage... this is what my CMD looks like.
---------------------------------------
adb devices =
list of devices attached
0123456789abcdef recovery
C:\Users\me\Desktop\Android>adb push C:\Users\me\Desktop\US_epad-user-9.2.1.27.1.zip /sdcard/Download/
---------------------------------------
When I hit enter it does nothing but go to the space below and won't let me type anything.
I have tried PERI which didn't work because when it starts rebooting my device it just boots to the splash screen where it won't recognize on my PC
PLEASE any help I'm ripping my hair out here!
I have got the same problem, which is mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244728
Now I am trying to discover which of the mounting points are internal sdcard and data, so I would be able to format them and I hope that this will fix my problem.
You are also unlucky because Slider and TF101G versions of the tablet doesn't support NVflash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688447
They support but ASUS hasn't provided developers with the keys: http://androidroot.mobi/technical/tf-secure-boot-key/

I do have the slider and would prefer to find help pertaining to that but it seems there are way more guides on the TF101 not SL101
It specifically says you cannot use the NVflash for sl101....
Sorry, I misread it. I fixed my post.

You can check the file /proc/mtd and /proc/mounts and upload it here, so I can see if we are dealing with the same problem. You can try to mount external sdcard.
While in ADB use:
Code:
adb pull /proc/mtd backup/
adb pull /proc/mounts backup/
This will copy this 2 files to folder backup.

You can try, but without / at the end of fstab since fstab is not directory but file.
Code:
PULL usage: adb pull "file on tablet" "copy to remote machine"
adb pull /etc/fstab backup/fstab
adb pull /proc/partitions backup/partitions
If this doesn't work, you can insert micro SD in tablet and use adb shell to write linux commands.

OK, I see. This is only time needed for transfer.
Go to your folder, where you have got adb.exe (you can search with windows). There is created new folder backup, where you can find fstab and partitions. Upload the files or open them with notepad++ or regular notepad and paste the content of files here (it is the best to use #-tag in the editor of the post so the code is easier to read.)

OK thank you, I will analyse and compare the files with mine and from other TF's. But so far, I discovered, that TF's don't have special partition for data as on other Android devices and this probably causes problem.
For posting code, you can use [ CODE ] You write here code [ /CODE ] - write CODE in brackets without spaces. In post editor there is a sign # for indicating code.
You can try mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 to a folder:
Code:
adb shell
mkdir NEW
mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 NEW
It probably won't work and this will indicate, that we are issuing the same problem.

Use commands as I wrote them:
This will connect to your tablet and access tablet's terminal commands
Code:
adb shell
You need to create new folder to which you will mount partition
Code:
mkdir /NEW
Now you only need to mount the partition

mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /NEW
Did you have external sdcard attached, when you uploaded file partitions?

Ok, Today I will show how to fully unlock the webtop feature in the Atrix 2, so that you can use your favorite Linux apps and desktop, to be more productive while using webtop.
This will be in several posts to make this easier to read and understand.
There are several requirements I will list here, first:
1) A way to use webtop - The HD, or lapdock, or have completed the webtop mod for the HDMI connection Here
2) This is most important, and if you completed 1, then you most likely have done it, root your Atrix 2
3) A USB SDcard reader. I have the Sandisk imagemagick, but any one you like will do
4) Be able to ADB from your computer to your phone
5) Not afraid of a little command line work
Partition Instructions:
Depending upon your operating system, free software is available so that you can partition and format your device without losing all the data on it.
You will need to get one of the apps / iso images below, I recommend the live iso with gparted on it, just because I am a UNIX/ Linux guy by trade and choice, and this is what I use.
Linux gparted live iso image:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
Windows MiniTool Partition Wizard:
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
You must create a parition on your SDcard for webtop, as this is is a full Operating System and takes a good bit of space. I made mine around 8GB on my 32GB card, and for the purpose of showing you here, I created a 4GB partition on a spare 16GB card I have. 1GB is the minimum, because that is what is already being used on the Atrix2 and I think it is about 80% full or so.
The partition you create MUST be a primary partition and formated to ext3.
For Windows here are some screen shots from another board that may help, with instructions:
This is what the MiniTool Partition Wizard screen looks like when I have an 8 GB SD card inserted. As you can see, there's currently one single FAT32 partition present.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651143&d=1310342755
When you right click on the partition, you'll see a Move/Resize option. That's the one you want to select for non-destructive partitioning.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651144&d=1310342755
At that point, you can select how large you want your partition to be. You want to make sure that the "Unallocated Space Before" stays at 0.00 MB, so that the new partition will be the second one. In my case, I've opted to create a 4 GB partition as the second partition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651145&d=1310342755
Once that has been set up, right click on the Unallocated space, then select Create.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651146&d=1310342766
We're not worried about the warning that Windows throws up, particularly since we know we'll be creating a partition that Windows can't read anyways. So just hit Yes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651147&d=1310342766
Create the second partition at the maximum size with the following settings:
Create As: Primary
File System: Ext3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651148&d=1310342766
After that's done, click on the Apply Changes button.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=651149&d=1310342766
And now you're done! Put the card back into your Atrix2
Now for gparted:
If you are familiar with Linux and know how to use gparted, just resize your FAT32 partition to whatever size you want, then create a partition at least 1GB in size (I recommend 4GB), and make it an EXT3.
Now for the rest that are using the iso here is some info and screen prints:
Launch gparted:
Here is a screen print of my desktop with gparted running:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now in the upper right corner there is a little drop down that has something like /dev/sda in it, change this to your SDcard, mine was /dev/sdc.
Next right click on the partition in the middle of the screen, it should be surrounded in green, then click Resize/Move:
Then when the next screen comes up, drag the arrow from the left to the middle of the screen to resize the partition, to the size you want, this is in MegaBytes:
Now will have one partition that is ready to resize, and it should look like this, you will click on the "Apply all Operations button":
Then a little window with the percentage will show up and tell you when it is complete, just click the close button when it finishes.
Next you will right click on the unallocated part of the SDcard and click new:
Then you will tell it how big in new size box, I let it do the whole thing at 4GB, then select ext3 in the File system drop down menu:
Then after you click add in the last screen, you will click the "Apply all Operations button" Again:
Now it will show the percentage window again, and when it is complete, click the close button.
Done! Now it should look like this:
Put your SDcard back into your phone now.
Next will be how to copy over some patches and a script that will do a lot more, and a manual way for the brave.
Ok, so now that we are partitioned we can do some real fun stuff, and by fun stuff I mean command line.
I would make sure you are plugged into a power source when you are doing this part, becuase the script will run for a very long time, it is copying 1GB of data to your SDcard, and installing a patch that includes another 100 or so MB of needed programs.
Go get this tarball
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU COPY THIS INTO /data/local ON YOUR PHONE
Copy this to your system with:
adb push webtop_unlock.tar /data/local
Now connect to your phone with ADB
adb shell
su
cd /data/local
tar -xvf webtop_unlock.tar
chmod 755 setup_webtop.sh
sh ./setup_webtop.sh
This will do a whole lot of things, like copy the webtop install to your SDcard, then patch it, so that you can run synaptic and a termial and disable the FACLs and MACLs that Motorola has implemented, so that it is not locked down anymore.
***Note: I only had a chance to run and test this script once, so if it is an issue please let me know nicely in a post here, or PM me, but please copy any errors or get a screen print if you can, so that I know what to fix. Please don't post a reply with it did not work, give me as much info as you can.
After your phone reboots ADB into it again, and do this:
su
mount -o remount, rw /
**take note that you must run the "mount -o remount, rw /" command anytime you reboot your phone because any programs you get thru apt-get or synaptic will error out during installation
Now that you have most of what you need Do this:
Connect to webtop with whatever method you like, HD dock, or lapdock, or TV (you most likely have to have a bluetooth keyboard mouse to use your TV).
Then when the webtop session starts:
Ctrl+Alt+T
When the Terminal launches type this at the command line and hit return
sudo apt-get update
From here, you can run "gksu synaptic" and use the password "test" to start installing various different programs and packages that are normally available on Ubuntu.
Dependencies
Take caution when modding Webtop because there are some dependencies that will break Webtop if they are upgraded such as anything ending in a .mot or anything resembling that.
Credits
Please thank [mbm] for fixing what Motorola took out, without him, none of this would be possible without his patch.
Sogarth for being the pioneer of Webtop hacking.
Now that you can get into synaptic, go find a desktop you like and install it.
I use gnome and I like it, but here is a list of KNOWN working apps, I am sure there are many more, just know some will not work at all.
Working Programs:
OpenOffice
XFCE4
Xchat
LxTerminal
Transmission
lxpanel
rdesktop
VLC Player (Video is choppy)
Gnome-Panel
Evolution Email
Chrome-Browser
Now that you have a desktop you want to run, lets set it up to start for you instead of that launcher at the bottom of the screen now.

Question:
So with this it says you have to have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for use with a TV. Did they disable the onscreen keyboard and mouse then?

If you use the webtop patch for connecting to a tv, I THINK you can still use the touch screen on the phone for keyboard and mouse, but I will be real honest, I have not tried it, since I have the HD dock and I have used a lapdock or two to play with.

ok so when I tried to rm mountosh it gave me permissions denied.
EDIT** Ahh, I needed to be su after going into dab

./setup_webtop.sh: 116: Syntax error: "}" unexpected (expecting "fi")

Ok, I found the issue, I forgot to close out a new if loop I had to add to fix the last issue.
I have updated it, go re download and remove the files in /data/local
check to make sure that there is not a /system/mountosh.orig,
if there is, move it back to mountosh, and remove the mountosh script ONLY if there is a mountosh.orig. I am guessing that there is not one since this most likely did not run at all.
P.S. I can't test it, since I don't have my replacement phone yet, they did not have any in stock at the repair center, so Motorola had to send me a new one on Sat. I should have it tomorrow or Wed. at the latest, I will have to do all of these things again, and I can test it then is depth a little more. Otherwise if you don't mind Being the guinea pig I will fix any issues ASAP.

It is fixable! I used to be a system admin, (before I switched to consulting and system architecture) and you can always fix it until it no longer boots.
when you ran the script, did fully run and did you see files being copied, and did it reboot your phone?
ok, now I need you to run a few commands and collect some data. post the output here, after you get it.
Code:
adb shell
su
/system/bin/fdisk -l /dev/block/mmcblk0 | grep -i linux
busybox df -h
ls -l /system/mountosh
ls -l /system/mountosh.orig
cd /osh
cd /osh/etc
ls -l
End Code
I am suspecting that the script somehow applied the patch, and the FACLs and MACLs are still in place.
If things look good, then we will try and move tomoyo out of the way.

Run this for me.
Code:
adb shell
su
ls -l /system/bin/mountosh
ls -l /system/bin/mountosh.orig
End Code
show that to me...
It looks like /osh just is not mounted or the mountosh script is missing... That is easy to fix, at worst case if it is not there, that I can get for you when I get my replacement today or tomorrow.
jimbridgman said:
You are missing the script to mount the /osh parition completely that is why everything is not working. That means that right now, Android can't see anything on that partition, either the one you created or the one that ships with the phone.
About the best thing I can do right now is to have you hang tight until I have my replacement in hand and I can get a copy of the original mountosh file for you, so that the /osh parition will mount up again, that is a very easy fix for all this. Once I have that for you I will give you instructions on what to do to get you back up and running.
I was hoping that is all it was.
It looks like when you were cleaning up after one of the script runs you removed the mountosh.orig instead of moving it back to mountosh.

Ok, so then they really are not there... So, Sit tight I will get the original mountosh that they ship on my replacement, and get it uploaded for you, then you can run the script again... that is why all the errors happened, since /osh was not mounted, from the original ( do alot of tests for it to be there in my script), and it could not mount since the script that does this was not there, nor the one I hacked to mount our partition over the default one.
Hey all, new to xda. Hope I'm not asking stupid questions.
My friend gave me a Galaxy S to fix. Model: GT-I9003.
It has a boot loop problem, cycling the Samsung introduction animation (and sound first time round). The recovery mode didn't work to start with - also trapped in a boot loop.
I followed the instructions here (using Odin3 v1.85) and flashed XXKPE. It seemed to all work fine, but the boot loop remained. I booted it into recovery mode and the following error messages appear.
E:failed to mount /data (No such file or directory)

From my research I believe it's a corrupted internal SD-Card and is fixed via parted? Could anyone go into more detail on how I would do this?
Many thanks.
I am facing a similar problem on my Galaxy SL... Need a solution too... I would appreciate any help...
Data partition has been corrupted, try flashing userdata.rfs with heimdall. A friend of mine had an stock/untouched phone and this happened to it, even with the corrupted partition i was able to boot cyanogenmod, and tried a lot of things, but nothing worked, it was on warranty, so i flashed back the original firmware and he took it to the service center.
If you want to try do this:
Flash bam kernel PDA_BCK_CF-root_universal_beta14fix.tar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355675)
Then from CWM flash cyanogenmod (i used cm7, but you can try with cm9)
after that the phone should boot into cyanogemod and give an error on the notification bar
extract the 6 files off the zip i attached and copy them to /xbin
from terminal emulator or adb shell run this for the 6 files:
Code:
chmod 0755 <file>
then run:
Code:
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 mkfs ext2
When it asks for the partition number, enter 3
finally reboot, and if it worked you can flash a stock rom again, thats it, good luck
My phone boots up, but there are random reboots. Tried a lot of stock and custom ROMs... Nothing works... Warranty expired last week...
Thanks for your time. I appreciate it.

Sorry, I'm very new at this - my first hour doing this kind of thing. Could you explain the procedure in more detail - I would like to learn (make the best of a bad situation).
Am I right to say that the Bam Custom Kernel gives super-root level privileges? Allowing the CWM to fiddle with partions?
I've downloaded the normalboot.img for BCK. How do I flash this to my device? Could you link me to a tutorial?
EDIT: Alternatively could you point me to all the prerequisites I need to properly understand the problem and the methods required to fix it?

I tried that... My phone was booting up...
I have Android SDK on my PC... It includes some tools like ADB.
If your phone is rooted, you can use ADB to do things, like formatting...
Connected my phone. Booted into recovery. From Command Prompt, I went to ADB folder, then typed "adb shell". Then, typed in the parted command, and followed steps. Successfully done...
But the problem continues...
I have found many other users have faced this problem -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736118
I am disappointed. My phone is no longer in warranty... I am too late...
it is possible that using cyanogenmod and S2E (simple2ext) will work as a workaround until you send it to service center.
grab a copy of s2e and push it to /system/app/
Repartition your External-SD using the same method used for phones with low storage capacity, warning: it will erase all the data in it, so make backups
Start s2e and mark to move:
App and Private app
Applications data
Dalvik and download cache
This makes another partition, and it does not fix data, but at least you should be able to install apps.
I face this problem too. Please someone give us the solution.
Update: I flashed BAM Custom Kernel and put it in recovery mode. Attached it to the computer, but I'm stuck at this error message.
Thanks again.

EDIT: There doesn't seem to be a /data partition at all! I feel I'm getting closer to fixing this.
There are 2 storages chips on this phone, one is mmc and the other is onenand.
I think the mmc chip is dead... it contains both /data and internal-SD, the onenand still works, it contains (system cache and dbdata), you can still use the phone with cyanogenmod if you mount everything that should go on /data on a partition in the external-SD, (the method i described with s2e). However there are some drawbacks, the SD needs to be class 6 or above to maintain the system speed, and the life of the sd is going to be reduced because of the more intensive use.

Thanks. Is there a way to replace the mmc chip without sending it to Samsung?
I've flashed XXFPE then Bam Custom Kernel then when I try install cm7 from CWM it gives:

EDIT: MIUI does this too.
How do I get around this? Can't I flash cm7 via Odin like the stock roms?

I think that the problem is when /tmp/updater.sh tries to mount /emmc your internal memory (EDIT: I've just noticed you tried with CM7, so, if I remember correctly, /emmc is the external memory, but I think that the problem is always the impossibility to mount the internal memory.) to backup your /efs directory. Because of the not avaible internal memory (/emmc) it simply exits and aborts the installation.
A simple change in updater.sh will allow you to install CyanogenMod, but wait for a confirmation from alfrix, maybe there's something more.
Anyway here there's a thread of a user with the same problem, he solved this by using the external SD as internal SD, as alfrix suggested.
strange, before touching anything try with the release i used that time (14.12.2011), if it doesn't work, then edit the updater.sh and remove
Code:
if ! /tmp/busybox mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /data ; then
/tmp/busybox umount /data
/tmp/make_ext4fs -b 4096 -g 32768 -i 8192 -I 256 -a /data /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
fi
EDIT: is there any mmcblk on /dev/block?
Code:
ls /dev/block/

Code:
~ # ls /dev/block

The first time I used my backup, everything went fine and the Webtop was restored. But then I understand my mistake in the first trial and tryed install gcc again causing another brake in webtop. After that I restored one more time, but it stopped working.
From the point of view of the Linux system, it seens the problem is that it can't mount correctly the partitions. A df give me:
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
rootfs 1.3G 724.6M 587.0M 55% /
tmpfs 1.3G 724.6M 587.0M 55% /dev
devpts 1.3G 724.6M 587.0M 55% /dev/pts
sysfs 1.3G 724.6M 587.0M 55% /sys
df: /acct: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/asec: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/obb: No such file or directory
df: /dev/cpuctl: No such file or directory
df: /system: No such file or directory
df: /data: No such file or directory
df: /cache: No such file or directory
/dev/block/webtop 1.3G 724.6M 587.0M 55% /
df: /pds: No such file or directory
df: /preinstall: No such file or directory
df: /sys/kernel/security: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/sdcard: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/secure/asec: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/sdcard/.android_secure: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/sdcard: No such file or directory
df: /mnt/asec/com.quoord.tapatalkxda.activity-1: No such file or directory
And when I mkdir /mnt/secure/ or /mnt/sdcard/ it automaticly mounts /dev/block/webtop on it.
I can't even see any block device inside the webtop. A ls /dev/ gives me:
agpgart kmem midi1 ram1 ram9 stdout
audio loop0 midi2 ram10 random tty
audio1 loop1 midi3 ram11 rmidi0 tty0
audio2 loop2 mixer ram12 rmidi1 tty1
audio3 loop3 mixer1 ram13 rmidi2 tty2

dsp3 midi00 ptmx ram5 smpte3 tty9
fd midi01 pts ram6 sndstat urandom
full midi02 ram ram7 stderr xconsole
fuse midi03 ram0 ram8 stdin zero
And I can't mount any loop device.
In the Android part, everything looks fine.
Anyone have any idea?
Thank you very much!
Cheers,
Luis.
Well, we will need more information before we can be of much help.
1) How were you able install gcc? Did you use my webtop hack, so that you can install using synaptic?
2) Were are you installing these deb packages from?
3) Are you sure you edited ONLY parts in the webtop partition and not the android filesystem? Both of them run a form of linux, and can be confused very easily if you are in the wrong directory, such as /etc and not /osh/etc.
4) Have you tried to flash just the webtop image from the fxz?
This is a good place to start the questions, so that we can be of more help here. Once you answer the above, I will know which way to go from here, hopefully.

Thank you very much for your repply!
So,
1) I was not abble to install gcc from the repositories (from Ubuntu Maverick one). I always get an error installing the libc6. After I tracked the error to readlink it almost worked, I was only getting a error to move a file. But then I gave up and decided to wait for my sdcard arrive.
2) From the repositories. I tried the first time using Debian Squeeze repository and, after that, using Ubuntu Maverick one. I didn't use your hack because I was trying to learn what exactly brake compability with moto's packages.
3) That's a excelent question! In first place I really thought I was changing only the /osh partition, but I saw today that the /etc/ is actualy /osh/etc even for Android. So I changed things for Android too.
But in principle, this partition was restored when I dd it back to my backup.
4) No. Actualy I was looking for a FXZ image to do this. The only one I found Online was this: InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285.zip in Filefactory site, but I could not Download it yet due site limitations.
Thank you very much!

Ok, there are a few issues here.
1) try to restore the webtop image from the fxz. Go and grab the correct version of the fxz from here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Then unzip and cd into the directory and, make sure you have the moto-fastboot command, and that adb works:
Motofastboot:
32bit for windows:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45576654/moto-fastboot-win32.zip
put it somwhere in your path and open a command line and cd into the directory where you unzipped the fxz and run the following, this will take a bit of time to complete, once started (about 10 min):
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
moto-fastboot reboot
2) Now go run my hack, once you have your SDcard, the issue you ran into is that the webtop instance had MACLs and FACLs inplace, and any changes you make to ANY files can have a BAD effect. That is why my hack exists.

Still broken webtop
Hi,
I tried to unlock the webtop, but I broken it.
Now I try to flash back the webtop, but I get following messages:
C:\Program Files\sdk\platform-tools>moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
load_file: could not allocate 1400635392 bytes
error: cannot load 'grfs.img'
Seems to me that the webtop partition is to small for grfs.img (only 1GB space)
At the moment even HDMI out from my ATRIX2 do not show any response. :crying:

I am using 2.3.6, systemversion 55.28.37.MB865.MERetail.en.06, Build 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37, and webtob WT-1.3.0-176. It is an ATT device.
I tryed the webtop image from

and
Returntostock2.3.5script.zip (edison-user 2.3.5 5.5.1-175_EDFFW1-16 5.51.175.16)
Both with the same error:

Perhaps both version should be wrong? Where can I find the right one?
I was able to flash webtop via RDS light 6.0 using following script in InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.25_cfc_p3_APBP.xml and ndp.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

It seems flashing without any error message.
But it sill not working ... no HDMI signal ...
After all I have to use the "Returntostock2.3.5script.zip" and reinstall my "MERetail-MEARET-55.28.37.zip" ROM and all apps.
Now webtop works and I will do a backup BEFORE I will try webtop2sd again ...
To those of you who followed link here: don't rush ahead and execute adb command. Read the thread in its entirety, since it contains typos and trial n error.

Hi. I've been stupid. U may flame me but plz also provide some advice to swallow it with.
I followed bad advice and flashed cwm 5xxxx. After that tried to run superwipe, which got stuck after a few steps. To my horror i realized i had run it from internal. Of course it wiped itself and i got stuck mid-partinioning i think.
Since cwm don't read ext sd i tried to push new recovery via easyflasher, but i can't seem to get a driver that lets my pc interact with the device.
Instead discovered i have adb acess if connected when device is in cwm. From there tried to run PERI v 0.4. At first step, trying to push recovery i get a message of no space available. I think this is due to borked partitioning with superwipe. I guess I can repartition with cwm, but now I've messed so much up I don't wanna do anything more without proper advice.
Thanks
bump
If you have adb access, then use it to push a new rom.
"adb push {shiny new rom or recovery} /sdcard/"
You might have to change /sdcard/ to whatever cwm 5x uses?
Then you can just flash it from cwm.
EDIT: I just saw that you have the tf101G - it might work, but you probably have to find the right rom or recovery.

Good advice, problem is that im not very savvy. How do i execute that command and what if i need to repartition the internal sd?
When running oneclickrecovery i get following prompts:

Adb needs to be fully working for this to work properly.
Note that this will wipe your current recovery.
Also note that this may not work, don't taze me bro!

Of course nothing was fixed and I still have cwm 5xxx which can't flash from ext sd. If I can only get another recovery I can flash any rom and that's that.
In device manager the device shows up as android adb interface when booted into cwm. I also have a device named android composite adb interface, but with a warning sign on it.
This is getting tiresome...
Edit: tried using quick adb pusher, but get message that i cant mount as r/w. In cwm cant mount data or sdcard/.android_secure.
Fun thing is I dont have root either.
It looks like your partitions are unformatted.
I think you need to get to a root shell via adb in recovery
- put your phone on recovery and plug into your computer
- type "adb remount" (you might get an error) then type "adb shell"
- you'll be in a terminal shell
- type "mount" to see how/what your sdcard is doing. Look for the line that has /sdcard on it. It might be something like /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 mounted at /sdcard blah blah...
- now to format your sdcard, type "mke2fs /dev/blah/whereever/your/sdcard/is/mounted/from/above"
- allow it to complete and type "exit". you might have to reboot your tab to get everything to remount
- once your tqab is back in recovery, type on your computer "adb push [some new recovery that uses the external sdcard or a new rom] /sdcard"
- if you have recovery bootloops, google around, there is a fix that wipes the reboot command from the misc partition. You can type it from an adb shell it's something like "dd if=/dev/block/zero of=/be/carefule/because/you/have/a/tf101G bs=1 count=13"
- Google is your friend. Linux is your friend. This is a bit of a high level overview, so you'll have to fill in the details yourself. Keep in mind that I don't have a tf101G and I never tried this before (a benefit of never using superwipe!)
Good luck!
OK. I'd like to try the method u describe but as I mentioned I'm really not tech savvy. I don't even know how to get to the point where I type "adb remount". Do I just open a cmd prompt? Tried that - didn't work.
I have downloaded sdk manager for when I did some stuff with my phone earlier and have the basic packages installed.
Are you on Windows? I think it's a path issue. You either need to put everything in the same folder and run everything from there or put adb in your path. I don't use Windows, so that's probably the best advice I can give you. "which adb" and "echo $PATH" probably won't work in Windows like they do in linux.
Ehm.. too techie answer for me to comprehend.
Yes I'm on win 7.
Put what in same folder as what?
Run from there by right clicking empty space in folder and choosing cmd?
What do you mean by putting adb in my path?
For some reason, lots of people on windows just put the recovery/rom and adb in the same folder and run it from there in the command prompt. Put it all in one place and use the cd command in the terminal to get there.

I'll try later when kids asleep.

Any ideas?
You're almost there... You're /cache partition is already formatted (ext4) Be careful since you can really mess things up with the wrong commands or mis-typed commands.
It looks like you need to mount your sdcard manually. I'm not sure which partition it is. I'll check the stock rom in a little while- I have to run some errands while it downloads.
OK, I downloaded the stock rom and had a look at the /etc/recovery.fstab file in the stock recovery. Should be what we need.
Put your tablet in recovery. Then, in a windows terminal, type "adb remount" and then "adb shell" This wil put you into an android terminal. I don't know if you need read/write permissions in CWM? Who knows? Typing commands in here is the same as typing commands on your tablet (if anyone used the command line any more).
type "ls /dev/block/" and you should see a long list of - look for mmcblk1p1 or mmcblk1. It will probably be the first one.
type "ls /" and look for /sdcard. If it's not there type "mkdir /sdcard" This step creates the mount point if it doesn't exist.
Now type "mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard" - Substitute whichever one is in your /dev/block directory from above.
EDIT: If you get errors that it's not formatted or "specify the type" then we'll have to format it first. "mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk1p1"
Now, in a different windows terminal, type "adb push [a new rom/recovery] /sdcard/"
In CWM, you should be able to flash whatever you pushed there.
If it flashes, but you get bootloops or boot back into CWM, you probably have the dreaded CWM bootloops. You can fix that by typing "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 count=15" in the terminal as the first step after "adb shell" For this you will need root access (with the # prompt, not $) Type "su" if you don't ahve the # prompt. It might work? Note that this is experimental and wipes out a bit of your misc partition. I have no idea of what else is on there, so there might be unintended consequences.

Can't mount sdcard frow cwm. Can I also flash new rck manually?
Tried reboot and mounting again manually, but cwm won't mount.
Maybe try "mount /dev/block/mmcblk1 /sdcard" ???
I get invalid argument on that command.
What if we forget cwm and try format to default partinioning and push stock?
You could try pushing the stock rom to your tablet and then flashing it via the staging partition. The rom is about 522M, so you might need the sd card, but otherwise, you can push it anywhere it will fit. Staging partition is /dev/block/mmcblk0p4. Google around, the info is certainly in this forum. As long as you can get a root shell via adb, you can flash it. The stock rom is on the Asus sight. Just keep unzipping it until you see the blob file.
Of course, you can flash anything you want via the staging partition, if it's packed in a blob format. You might consider flashing a rooted rom instead of the stock.
I have stock on hd. Shall I mount staging via same commands as i mounted sdcard? Push there via adb. Then what command to flash the blob? The blob has no file extension. Shall i keep it that way?
Edit: ok i tried to unpack the recoveryblob from my desired version of cwm, but tool stopped working during process of writing recoveryblob.sos. I got the tool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21620550&postcount=24

Edit 2: I finally managed to get apx working if it somehow can help.
Hey all, i accidentally formatted the partitions on the tf700. it was unlocked/rooted and i have TWRP installed.
i do not have access to fastboot. i can use adb and adb shell.
i have tried the options 1a & 1b for the prime tf201 unbrick with no luck.
in the terminal if i write the command "df" it shows that the only partition i have is TMPFS, and it is 499732 1K blocks - mounted on /dev
since the card is showing up as TMPFS it is basically a ramdisk and it will be erased on a reboot, so no matter what changes i make, or rom i install it will always be erased.
if i try to mount the /data /system /cache partitions they all return E:Unable to mount '/system' (tw_mount)
( '/system' changes with '/data' and '/cache')
if i go to /dev/block the only things i see are loop0 - loop7 and mmcblk0p3
im thinking that all i need to do is somehow format the internal memory to reinstall a rom and i should be good to go, but i dont know what the partitions need to be, but i could also be way off.
im hoping someone has some insight. i would hate to have a brick

Looks like your GPT got damaged - this may not be easy to repair (AFAIK the original GPT is nowhere in the Asus firmware download), but as long as you can boot TWRP and use adb, there is hope.
First of all, what does "cat /proc/partitions" say? For comparison, here is my output:

How did you do that?
Looks like your GPT got damaged - this may not be easy to repair (AFAIK the original GPT is nowhere in the Asus firmware download), but as long as you can boot TWRP and use adb, there is hope.
First of all, what does "cat /proc/partitions" say? For comparison, here is my output:
Code:
# cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name
179 0 62087168 mmcblk0
179 1 786432 mmcblk0p1
179 2 438272 mmcblk0p2
179 3 2048 mmcblk0p3
179 4 835584 mmcblk0p4
179 5 5120 mmcblk0p5

cat /proc/partitions shows the following:
# cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name
under it though, there is nothing there

If you can describe what you did, maybe it is easier to find out what exactly happened.
I assume you don't have an nvflash backup, right?

OK. What is the output if you run:
Code:
dmesg|grep mmcblk0
?

I was unlocking the tablet, installing TWRP and then wiping the data, i misread the options and went too far by doing the format data option.
no backup. i do not have access to fastboot/APX now, and i did not create one before.
C:\Users\Daniel>adb shell
~ # ←[6ndmesg|grep mmcblk0
dmesg|grep mmcblk0
~ # ←[6n^C
C:\Users\Daniel>
also, the only way i have seen to get the other mmcblk0 partitions to show up (0p3, 0p4 etc) is to run the commands for the tf201 unbrick (option 1a/b)
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
i was thinking that all i needed to do was to somehow format the data so the tablet can write to the partition instead of it just acting as a ramdisk. i even tried running fdisk -H 1 /dev/block/mmcblk0 and tried to format the data but i'm not familiar with the partition table of this tablet to redo it.
i have also tried doing those commands above and then running a live usb gparted disk to see if it shows up, but it hasnt worked yet

Strange, it should at least output the line about detecting the card. Please reboot your tablet into recovery (to restart the kernel log), then do from your computer
Code:
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
and put the resulting file on pastebin or attach it here.

That's odd, format data will not and shouldn't do that. I did this all the time. Do you have the lastest TWRP and was on JB? if you do, go back to "WIPE" option and do the wipe format again. This should reformat with ext4. After that do factory reset, wipe system, internal storage then try to reflash Cleanrom. TWRP may some how corrupted your partition, but not what you did.

If the partitions are not already there, then these commands simply create files that are named like the block devices that are missing. Not what you want at all, but harmless.

Do not try to to use fdisk, it does not support GPT.

How would you run a live disk on the tablet?

The important part is here:
Code:
<6>[ 9.067211] [mmc]:mmc_read_ext_csd:259 ext_csd.sectors 0x766c000 prod_name HYNIX BOOT_SIZE_MULTI 0x20
<4>[ 9.109988] mmc0: switch to bus width 1 ddr 0 failed
<3>[ 9.116163] mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising MMC card
The recovery kernel cannot initialize the MMC card. So there is no point in trying to run partitioning tools at this time, first you need to gain access to the eMMC. It cannot be completely broken, otherwise it could not boot the recovery.
Next step: find out what error -110 is and how to fix it.
btw, this thread seems to describe the same situation (read the post from MysticMgcn): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917304

I still don't understand - where did you create those partitions? On your laptop?
Anyway, your TF700 is bricked until someone finds out how to make the TWRP kernel initialize the eMMC correctly in your situation. Without that, your internal storage is inaccessible, so any fix attempt at that level will fail.
Unfortunately there is still very little public information how the bootloader interacts with the kernels, so I cannot help you further. You may try asking in the thread I linked in my last post if anyone was able to recover from this.

i ran these two commands via adb shell:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
then once i saw them in /dev/block, i rebooted my laptop into gparted hoping that they would show up as a partition i can make changes to, but they didnt.
i will ask in the thread you linked, and thanks for all your help.
