[Q] Internal Email Problem - HTC Desire S

Hello
i updated my desrie s to last RUU 4.0.4 and i got problems on email URLs .
when i want to click an email address in a URL , ( like mailto:[email protected] ) nothing happen
but it should open internal email program for sending mail through it !
What can i do for it ???

This is a known bug in the Ics RUU. The only way round it is unlocking your bootloader on htcdev.com and rooting your phone or installing a custom rom.

Why, why, why are people incapable of searching first? How many times has this question been asked since the RUU was released?

I doubt it very much, the Ics RUU wasn't even released OTA, only as a research and development RUU. So don't expect any support.

How to downgrade from TW offical Sence ROM?

I have upgraded to the new TW offical rom sucessfully (my phone is original shipped to TW).but I want to downgrade to myhero 2.0.2...I know the spl was changed.so..how can i do? is it perfeted SPL? I mean, I couldn't flash any other ROM since now?

The only thing we can do,I think, is to wait for a miracle....praying...
i mean, TW offical rom=> my hero
I find the official update, even without BFS and overclocking, is much faster than MyHero.
Why would you want to downgrade to something that the rom you want to downgrade to is trying to get to your rom.. lol what i mean is Hero roms are trying to get to the level of the official rom. If you want to downgrade so you can root again.. just wait till someone makes the official rootable.
The SPL is the same version as the Hero (HBOOT-1.76.007). Anyone want to try rooting their Magic with the OTA Sense ROM using the Hero rooting instructions?

Did anyone that had upgraded to official sence rom tried the InstantRoot below? Does it work?
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.uk-co-neilandtheresa-instantroot2-qAmj.aspx
It works on untouch HERO

Help!!
really, we can't flash the phone , for the rest of time ? nothing can search a method?? help us!
same problem, whether can find new kernel bug to get root access this latest rom?
so why do you want to downgrade again? is it just because of having no root and wifii tethering?
Not only because of having no root and wifii tethering, there is bugs and FCs within the TW Official Sense UI ROM.
Though it works faster, but the bugs and FCs are no less than the custom ROMs', and without root,I couldn't sync with my google account via certain APN...
There should be official instructions about the details of this update.
Now I would request the HTC's support to offer methods downgrading back to the original
version.

Did you super cid? I believe doing so would keep carrier updates from being sent to your device.
ok, thanks pal
maybe you know, where can i find newest official htc rom?
i'll try supercid and htc rom after that

Sorry... I think you misunderstood me. I was asking if you were already super cid'ed. Because if you were, that would explain why you were not receiving system updates from your carrier.
Setting your CID to super CID will not help you in this matter.
Ok, now undersdand.
I'm not sure did i replace cid or not.
How to check my current cid?
And finally how to rollback original cid. I'm in o2 uk

Here is how I know to check the CID on your device (and a lot of other details):
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/cmdline
That should result in a lot of text on your terminal. You want to find the value that follows: "androidboot.cid="
If you are super CID, it will be a bunch of ones (like 1111111) and nothing else.
I'll get back to you on the thread for a list of valid CIDs.
Thanks a lot.

Here is the thread that provides the most help for what you're trying to accomplish (at least from what I assume).
In it there is a mention of another thread where CIDs are being collected.
hth...
i can confirm that i had cid 1111111 in my phone.
i changed it first time for valid o2 cid but still not got any updates, then replaced for htc cid but still any updates got.
btw i'm sure, htc has released 2.3.4 for my device, and i'm stuck by 2.3.3
ok, last question
where can i find not branded, latest original htc rom?

I think this is the best there is for finding stock ROMs.
There is a FileFactory link in the 1st post (or right here) for a grip of RUU files. Those will contain the original distributions from the various carriers.
I wish I was able to point you to the correct one, but I really have no idea.
Happy New Year!

[Q] S-Off vs Unlock Bootloader

Hi all
Anyone know if we need the bootloader unlocked if we already have S-Off? I have flashed a few ROMs already and was wondering if I would need to go unlock my bootloader to gain more customization options. Can we change kernels and overclock with a locked bootloader?

Hi,
You don't need to unlock bootloader via HTCDEV if you already S-OFF.
If you are S Off, just flash firmware from the user friendly firmware thread.
You'll have an ENG Hboot that says Revolutionary instead of Locked.
So, I rooted and gained s-off but haven't unlocked my bootloader through the HTC site. It sounds like I don't need to do this and can do everything I could on my rooted device right?
correct me if im wrong and 10x 4 ur helps

Yes, an ENG Hboot is better than an Unlocked Hboot.
You can do all & more than a Unlocked Hboot can with an ENG Hboot.

New official update for HTC Chacha found 1.57.720.3

Hello Everyone,
I just received a notification that a new software update is available for my HTC Chacha here in India: 1.57.720.3
I am currently on 1.57.720.1 and have unlocked and rooted the device (no custom rom installed)
I have a question:
If I update to this version, will I have to root my phone again? If not, then what is the benefit to update to this version??
Should I update?? I don`t want to lose my root ability.
Don't update, you will have to re root. If I were you I would get cm7 or cm9 they run very well and are much better than the stock ROM

Tried what?
Those listed there on htcdev are NOT ROMs. Those are kernels. You download those and then get the android source code from google, then build android for yourself using those kernels. Which should be for ICS but it has been discussed in the dev section and they seem to be for GB.
Further more, I have compared the 4.0 India and the 2.3 India and only 3 GPIO files have been modified. So it's GB kernel with 4 more lines of code.
So Alex C.
1. this is not ICS?
2. Will i get it stable on my chacha!!

Running a RUU.exe is the easiest way to go. (if there is one available for your provider)
Lock the bootloader, and run the ruu.exe from your computer.
