How to enter into recovery mode:
With ZTE V987 completely turned off, press and hold VOL. UP key and turn on the phone. Keep holding both keys, wait until the splash logo appears and then release keys.
Navigation under recovery mode:
Stock recovery mode: As soon as the splash logo disappears, an image with a triangle and an Android will appear and BACK key must be pressed in order to access menu options. Navigation is made using VOLUME keys (navigate up with VOL. UP and navigate down with VOL. DOWN) and MENU key to apply the action.
Custom recovery mode: As soon as the splash logo disappears, ClockworkMod Recovery menu will appear. Navigation is made using VOLUME keys (navigate up with VOL. UP and navigate down with VOL. DOWN) and POWER key to apply the action.
How to flash custom recovery:
Download the latest ZTE V987 custom recovery and follow this MT657x flashing tutorial.
Important: Use SP Flash Tool v3.1304.0.119 or higher.
Flashing a new custom ROM via the SD card method (update.zip):
Read this guide to know more about ClockworkMod Recovery and how to flash a custom ROM.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Question: I can't install your custom ROMs. Why? What am I doing wrong?
Answer: First of all you have to flash a custom recovery into your phone and then you are able to install my custom ROMs. Read the tutorials on post #2 to know the procedures.
Question: I wanted to try one of your custom ROMs. Will I loose all my data after installing it?
Answer: It is advisable to clear all userdata when installing my custom ROM for the first time. During installation, you can choose whether or not to wipe userdata... If you are willing to do so, create a backup before ROM installation so that you are able to restore it later. The most recommended way is to use Titanium Backup to create a backup of your favorite applications.
Question: In phone specifications it's stated that it has 4 GB of eMMC, but only approximately 500 MB are available for internal storage... Can you explain me the reason for that?
Answer: The phone has indeed 4 GB of eMMC. Part of it is used by system and cache partitions, while the rest of the size is divided into internal storage (approximately 900 MB) and an internal sdcard partition (approximately 2 GB). If you find that an internal sdcard partition is useless (and have a big external sdcard), you can extend userdata partition (internal sdcard partition completely disabled). Jump into post #4 to learn how to apply that mod.
Question: How can I access hidden MediaTek engineering mode?
Answer: From phone's dialler type code *#*#3646633#*#*.
Question: I don't have this phone, but mine is also based on the same MT6589 SoC. Can I still flash your recovery and install your custom ROMs?
Answer: Even though your phone is based on the same SoC, there may be differences in other hardware components. It is not likely that recovery and ROMs will work on your phone so you may risk to brick it.
Question: Can I revert to stock ROM? If so, where can I get it from?
Answer: Sure, you can revert to stock ROM if you want. You just need to download the stock update.zip and flash it through recovery. To get a clean install, be sure to wipe all userdata first and then install the .zip. After first boot you'll even got stock recovery back. Following is the list of stock ROMs, available from official ZTE website:
ZTE-CN-9B18D-P188F04V1.0.1B01
ZTE-CN-9B18D-P188F04V1.1.1B02
Question: Is there any service manual for this phone?
Answer: Yes, here is the official link to V987 service manual.
Question: Is there any video showing how to disassemble the phone?
Answer: There should be more, but this one should give you an idea. You may also like to know that the "back button problem" can be fixed following these instructions.

ZTE V987 internal memory re-partition
Initial notes:
Make sure that you have a full nandroid backup of your current ROM. If not, boot into recovery mode and make one. This is very important if you want to restore userdata after internal memory is re-partitioned.
Also make sure that you have a backup of your internal sdcard because it will be fully erased and disabled, depending on the applied modification.
Important: Use SP Flash Tool v3.1304.0.119 or higher.
Instructions:
Inital mod (fully extended userdata and no internal sdcard partition)
Warning: Use only with Android 4.1 based ROMs. Not compatible with Android 4.2 based ROMs, alternative mod should be applied instead (read bellow).
Download the first attachment and extract the files to your computer
Copy disable_internal_sdcard.zip (included in the attached .zip) to the external sdcard
Shutdown the phone
Open SP Flash Tool v3.1304.0.119 (or higher) and load the scatter file
Flash MBR, EBR1, EBR2 and RECOVERY as shown on the next image (read flashing tutorial first):

}
After flashing is complete, boot into recovery mode and format /data
Optionally, if you want to restore previously saved userdata, go to nandroid backup / restore and restore data (advanced restore feature)
Install disable_internal_sdcard.zip file through recovery mode
Reboot your phone and enjoy your fully extended userdata partition
Alternative mod (2GB userdata and remaining space for internal sdcard partition)
Note: Can be used with Android 4.1 or 4.2 based ROMs. This one extends userdata partition to 2GB (stock size is 1GB) and the rest of the space remains for the internal sdcard. This was released in order to cope with some difficulties I had making the previous mod work with Android 4.2.1 based ROMs, so for that case this is in fact the only working mod.
Warning: If your phone has an Android 4.1 based custom ROM installed, already working with the initial mod and want to upgrade to a newer custom ROM, then this must be applied.
Download the second attachment and extract the files to your computer
Shutdown the phone
Open SP Flash Tool v3.1304.0.119 (or higher) and load the scatter file
Flash MBR, EBR1, EBR2 (read flashing tutorial first)
After flashing is complete, boot into recovery mode and format /data
Optionally, if you want to restore previously saved userdata, go to nandroid backup / restore and restore data (advanced restore feature)
Reboot your phone and enjoy your extended userdata partition

Bravo Bruno!
I am happy to be the first to reply in your new thread!
My ZTE V987 left Asia yesterday, I hope to see it soon.:good:

Thank you and I am user of V987 for few days.
I experienced a problem of auto switching flight mode during talking, which cut the call. It is like one or two times per day. Hope your rom helps.
BTW, the download link does not work.

ROM was being uploaded. Upload is finished, enjoy and don't forget to leave feedback!

Thanks Bruno, Just ordered mine, so hopefully here when I get back from my break and will be able to get your custom ROM installed. Some reviews say that this will work with 64G micro SD cards, do you know if this is true or is it really just 32G?

I have posted the specifications according to the official ones (found here), but I also suspect that 64GB microSD cards might work. I don't have one, so I can't test and be totally sure of that.

i am waiting also my zte...u have done great job!continue like this!!!thank you!

Hi Bruno,
I have been using your rom for my ZTE V970. It has been great, I do like it, and no longer stuck with Chinese rom.
At the moment, new ZTE V967s, having the same chip (MT6589) as V987 is on sale in China. I would like to update my V970 to this new V967s.
Could you please advise whether I can use your V987 CWM Recovery for rooting V967s?
Thanks for all your works on ZTE phones.

Most likely not, kernels should be different and V967s won't boot into recovery. If you want by then, I can create a recovery for it.

Is there any tutorial how to create cwm recovery? Which one would you recommend for the beginer, what do you use personally?

I very much appreciate if you can crest one for me or suggest me how to do it.
Many thanks

I'm Spanish,
I've also received it two days ago, I've rooted, installed CWM and updated to 3.20 rom which solve problems like return button and SD.
Do you know any Multilanguage ROM?.
Doesn't have task manager(task switcher)? I've tried al the home button combinations.
Like this:

Which brand of SDHC
Dear All,
On ZTE V970 I had an error with LEXAR 32GB Class 10 SDHC card, it refused to work after some months, but later it was able to be formatted on PC.
Do somebody recommend which brands are most suitable for ZTE V987 smatphone? When we use after repartitioning, it works always, with high cycle numbers of writing and reading.

GINGERBREAD
1.4.1

The fourth partition (Swap partition) is still changed to off by default, you need to manually open
Improve partition recognition
Try to fix the problem with SD partition transmission speed, adjust the read_ahead_kb to 2048k.
New kernel compiled, including HAVS, BFS features, faster and better performance
Kernel version is 2.6.37.4-vorkKernel-BFS # 2.
Optional recording software CallRecorder in package from build17.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROYO
1.3.18 still with GScript
- apk zip install support is still in this one, yet still for testing
- the fourth partition is still close, needs manual intervention to activate, activation mentioned in 1.3.11
- revised the data2ext script to get rid of partition examination bug.
1.3.11 with GScript x1
- apk zip install support is still in this one, yet still for testing
- revised the data2ext script, for the partition to be safer
- the fourth partition (swap) was default close now, if you need to use it, manual activation is required by doing the ff:
delete /data/local/data2extswap.disable file with Root Explorer, restart handset
DO NOT delete the wrong file, there are some tab file not to be deleted, otherwise your phone will go to reboot loop or the data will be missing. Please take note of this!!!
- 2.3 things started here, live wallpapers support (themes, phone, etc. see 1.3.11 changelog)
1.3.5 with GScipt x1
- APK install support is still applicable and still for testing uo intil this version (xj: i guess users just use restore as always foe less work)
- in depth adjustment of data2ext scripts, optimize the configuration script for performance
- Add GScript applications, with three scripts: 1, checksd.sh, 2, swapon.sh, 3, swapoff.sh
- Start GScript, by menu, select Add script, and then click Load file, Save, (three default scripts can be selected by default, added). SU will ask whether to run, click Allow.
Three scripts Description:
checksd.sh, mainly used to detect the status of SD card.
swapon.sh, used to manually open the swap system support (valid for four partitions).
swapoff.sh, used to manually shut down the swap system support, in order for more power. But will increase the probability of background process killed. (D partition active)
1.2.25 b1
- newest script by atroy adapted to this rom, you should be fine with the last two
- for those exploring, here's the changelog
- apk install support is still in this one
- optimized script to reduce system buffer data storage time, reads in promptly to avoid power failure causing missing or corrupted data
- reduces the system memory use and the swap partition frequency of use (effective for those using 4 partitions)
- restores the official MIUI default SD the card data IO operation mechanism
- Lower core recovery for the directory and inode cache memory
1.2.25
- adapt to new miui release 1.2.25
1.2.19 b1 (BETA)
- atroy just release an updated script so i am releasing this one for beta, i have been using it for 48 hrs since 2/21/2011
- Adjusts the data2ext script to further enhance performance
- Reduces the IO read
- Reduces power consumption
1.2.19 x1
- chinese dev fix the lag issues, let's see if it really is
1.2.18
- Uses latest miui apk updates to see how it fairs with D2EXT X-PART
- Though 1.2.19 is being uploaded, my assumption is Launcher update + framework files. We may be able to get away with apk update
- If not update, let's issue a 1.2.19 full rom
1.2.11
- New development, you can put all your apks in a zip file to install and place it in root of sd card before installing rom
- This feature will allow us to backup apks and flash the rom
Important for the zip file containing apks:
- Filename should be "sd-ext-xpart.zip". Grab the one attached below and store your apks inside
- Valid apk names are: xxx.apk, xxx_xxx.apk, 123.apk (e.g. xda_talk.apk)
- Do not use spaces, shift characters, symbols and other language characters in apk names
- Place the file in the root of your sd card
- added MIUI Digital Clock + weather (replaces the clock in the main screen)
- added MIUI Analog Clock with small to large widgets (moved to 2nd screen)
- added empty folders for now in the second screen, i might fill it in with the default apps.
- added new boot animation from the spanish (dont be deceive after flashing, it's really a slow animation, lol)
- added MIUI Music (see a2sd screenshot)
1.2.4
- release a 1.2.4 with latest 2.6.35.10 kernel modded by atroy
- added vorkkernel patch download
1.1.28
- initial Release
- adapted codes by atroy
- added activator patch download for those with more than 2 partitions
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FEATURES:
- Multi partition support + upgrade to ext4 if the installer finds it needs to
- Battery life is great for a data2ext
- KERNEL is MIUI modded by atroy as well to work efficiently with the data2ext
- FAST, SMOOTH, STABLE, never mind my quadrant pics, use the rom and see for yourself
NOTES:
THIS IS AN ADAPTATION OF the DATA2EXT script in the official "MIUI Chinese SITE"
Many thanks to atroy who did and modded the codes, all credits to him for that.
I did my best to convert this to EN and add some flavor to it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I got to say this but this one is a fast data2ext code and stable!, i have - tried most of the codes here too, this one is a killer as well!
- I named it X-PART, the site called it xpartitions
- X-PART = Will work on
2 Partitions: fat32+ext4, fat32=remaining, ext4=1000MB;
3 Partitions: fat32+ext4+ext4, fat32=remaining, ext4=1000MB, ext4=300MB;
4 Partitions: fat32+ext4+ext4+linux-swap, fat32=remaining, ext4=1000MB, ext4=300MB, linux-swap=100-200MB;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PARTITIONS I TESTED THIS
2 Partitions: fat32+ext4, fat32=remaining, ext4=512MB;
2 Partitions: fat32+ext3, fat32=remaining, ext3=512MB;
2 Partitions: fat32+ext3, fat32=remaining, ext3=512MB-1000MB;
(was converted to Fat32+EXT4+EXT4 when i flashed the rom)
Recommended to use parted magic or gparted to partition!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you have an EXT3 this Rom install script will try to Update it to EXT4
- I will always stripped the rom of /data/apps so restore your apps with MIUI backup or Titanium
- Other roms i will use as base will be the developer's translation and effort so credits go to them for that
BASE:
- I AM USING a FAT32 + 1GB EXT3 + 100mb SWAP. Use parted magic or Gparted to partition when first time installing this ROM!
INSTALLATION:
- Full Wipe
- Install zip from card
- Then Reboot
- The system will go to first boot image (try to upgrade partition to ext4), then reboot again, then boot animation then android home
- The script will do that so don't get confused
- It is because of the 86extupdate script......that's why it reboots the second time.........read below)
- First boot takes 5-10 mins so wait. As in WAIT!
- Finally let it stabilize for some minutes and you'll see how fast it is.
NOTE:
Those with more than two partitions, like FAT32 + EXT + EXT or SWAP, can now use this one to neglect the thrid partition
Your choice if you want to do it
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KERNEL PATCHED:
vorkkernel patched by them too here:
I have not flash this one for i am using the stock kernel that i put in the rom pulled from their latest xpartition built (1.1.28)

I did my best to translate this so bear with me, i won't go into answering post related to this translation.

A2SD/A2SD+ and D2W OP
FAQs GINGERBREAD
GENERAL MIUI
MIUI Roms came in one source, that's the HQ in China. Most only deodexed it. With that said, You are talking about a common rom.
Major issues are fix by the MIUI Team in China, every week the work is deodexing (mostly) and translating those APKs to English.
I don't really see why some debates over what rom is better over which.
Others just put flavor into the rom, customize a bit, put some apks here and there, put their APNs, but they are the same when it comes to the major things you'll need.
The effort is translating those apks, recompile, decompile, and many more you don't have to imagine, lol. So that differences lies in there somewhere depending on effort and dedication.
What's here is pushing the boundaries of MIUI A2SD with supplying alternatives, D2EXT X-PART and D2W
This make this ROM a unique source for all and other port of this rom. This comes directly from my friend atroy over @ MIUI.cn
Also you got to experience ALL Stock! No sh*t
TERMINOLOGIES
D2EXT X-PART = it's a data to ext rom which works on multiple partition, it will move the /data folder structure to ext, details in post# 3
D2W = short for data2whatever, it is melethrons code put in one of these rom, read post# 3
BASE FULL ROM = this is the flashable rom, it will have version number in filename depending on release
GLOBAL UPDATE = these files are what updates the base full rom, contains system apk and framework, it will be up depending on the translation fixes
GLOBAL UPGRADER (OTA) = these let's you upgrade from previous version to latest (e.g. 1.4.15 to 1.4.22). After this GLOBAL UPDATE still applies if there are GLOBAL UPDATES released
EN and ZH = short for English and Chinese, meaning my rom as well as all updates comes with these two languages
MULTI LANG = Multi Language, it is implemented in the Global Update as an option, this is not just locale, this update supports more than 10 languages
.MTZ extension files = These are usually themes that are made by users, devs and themers, usually place in /sdcard/miui/themes or any folder. Then it is applied in Theme manager app or via import from sd or using miui file explorer
Can i use all the full rom and flash some other language pack in other site?
A big YES, my rom is stock and it has the same structure as the original Chinese Rom or the Stock Deodexed Rom
Can i use MULTI LANG or EN + ZH in other MIUI ROMS?
YES, all my work are stock, i don't put anything into MIUI and my flashable updates except change everything to English and move the ZH (Chinese) to another translation
I change images to English, bootanimation to English + added a MIUI Weather clock, Fancy Widget Weather clock, LG Optimus Weather or any weather app that will pop up in the future
In fact, when you use another rom, you can flash my EN ZH updates or Multi Lang updates since i only put those APKs that comes with the Stock Rom
Download in market does not start using mobile data
The phone is protected by default to accidental usage of mobile data connection
I set the default to "download when any connection is available", if download is not starting
Go to the Download icons on desktop, tap on it, click menu, Download when any connection is available
How to turn ON/OFF COMPATIBILITY MODE for an app
This often solves the black on black issues on text and background
Menu, Settings, Application, Manage Applications, All, Tap the app, there will be a button to turn ON and OFF compatibility mode
Can i use Morelocale or Morelocale2 without being in Chinese language?
YES, default for these roms are English now, Chinese can still use these roms by switching to their locale in settings
Some icons not appearing after install
Menu, Settings, Application, Manage Application, All, Look for Launcher, Clear Data, Press Home
How to make TWO WAY Call Recording using third party app (clear records)

1) ALTERNATIVE FRAMEWORK
IMPORTANT!!!
These framework will only work for the MIUI Release Version mentioned it is to work with.
I have to say that for those who dont decompile apks and will never know what has changed in the framework.
Because sometimes MIUI China changes the framework, (most of the time). And if you install this in another version = FC or more FC
INSTALLATION:
Flash in recovery like a usual rom
NOTE:
If you wanna go back to the default framework and you dont like the visual effects, just flash the default.

MULTI LANG Themes for FROYO
Even if my MIUI is fully themable, it does not make the "SEND" button sms for all language
The reason is that no one has made the default themes that comes with MIUI available for other languages in bulk.
There maybe some out there but i dont find one yet. Other themes made by the person in that locale or country would have that of course.
Anywhows, this is a MOD of the existing MIUI Themes
You can even use it in other roms made by other devs.
Actually all my works can be use in other ROMS. LOL!
I made these to make the whole MIUI experience a PROFESSIONAL one!
The MIUI screenshot and previews are also modded to suit the language.
INSTALLATION:
1) Just place all the .mtz in \SD Card\MIUI\theme folder
2) Go to SMS, Menu > Settings > Apply Theme
3) The theme should be available in the Downloaded theme(s)
4) Select and Apply

I have some tips for people suffering from MIUI ORD.
Before flashing new ROM and/or kernel:
1. Nand-backup... always! Should I mention this?
2. Backup the next apps with MIUI Backup tool:
Titanium Backup
Quadrant Standard (or paid)
SMS Backup +
Android Terminal Emulator
AdFree Android
3. Backup the next data with MIUI Backup:
Wifi Settings
Desktop Layout
4. Backup all user apps with its data with Titanium Backup. You can also set a schedule at night to backup the newest and updated apps automatically.
5. Backup following sytem items with Titanium Backup:
USER DICT (your dictionary with own added words)
Accounts (Your google account(s))
6. Wipe, Wipe, Wipe (I use AmonRA):
All user data
Dalvik Cache
7. Flash new ROM
After flashing, wait 10-15 minutes, do not touch a thing
Power off, wait a few seconds, power on again
After flashing your new ROM:
1. Restore data with MIUI Backup:
Wifi Settings
Wait with desktop layout untill later!
2. Restore apps with MIUI Backup:
Titanium Backup
AdFree Android
Android Terminal Emulator
Quadrant Standard (or paid)
SMS Backup +
3. Run the following apps:
AdFree Android, click on "Download & Install Hosts"
Just for fun, do a Quadrant Benchmark
SMS Backup +, let it restore your messages
Titanium Backup, restore user apps and system settings (accounts, dictionary)
Wait a while, sync will synchronize your google account info (contacts, gtalk, etc...)
4. Restore desktop layout with MIUI Backup
5. Done!
This is how I do it, all my apps and their settings back, and the desktop layout is the same as before flashing the new ROM.
@XJ: Thanks for your awesome work on MIUI!

Hi xavierjohn22...
Great work with 1.2.11. It's really fast. More so than 1.1.128 which is the last ROM I had on. After flashing to this one though on every reboot I get the message 'System UIDs Inconsistent' - 'UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable'. Below that it has a button labelled 'I'm feeling lucky' which will let you carry on using the ROM but it appears on every reboot.
I tried wiping the data partition but this hasn't resolved it. I've got an 8GB SD card partitioned with Gparted - 1024MB EXT4 + FAT32 remaining. Before flashing the ROM I done the usual wipe data/cache/dalvik with Clockwork Recovery 2.5.1.8
Never seen this message before and all of your other ROMs have installed without problems
Any ideas what might be causing it?

Yeah i think you haave an ext2 now. Try verifyng, i use parted magic and gparted too.
Fat32 first then ext3 of 1gb, then apply.
But i think it is not your hurdle since you know how to partition already.
One of the guy over at miui dev switch to amonra 2.0.1 to aid in the wipe and problem is solve.

Thanks xavierjohn22...I'll give that a go.
I'm noticing that my home button randomly stops working as a result of 'system instability'!

Yeah thats a common issue with uid error.

Just flashed AmonRA recovery 2.0 with fastboot...performed a full wipe of data/cache/dalvik and flashed the ROM again. Still the same problem after I reboot. I'm also using a different SD card partitioned with FAT32 + 1GB Ext3.
I think I'll go back to 1.1.28 for the time being or try 1.2.4 and see how that goes...
XJ... I'm running 1.2.4 XPART... is it possible for me to flash 1.2.11 XPART with just wiping cache and dalvik... only asking becoz, my Rom is running Faaaaast and perfect at the mo... doing a full wipe, backup and restore is time consuming...

Jeditus,
The rom still has a wipe userdata in the code. So it will wipe your userapps as well.
What was implemented in the latest xpart 1.2.11 x5 version was the ability to install apks in a zip file. Put your apks in a zip and inatall rom. The work is sorting out what apks to put in the zip file. Something miui backup can do too.
Another thing you can do is use miui backup on that 1.2.4, then restore in 1.2.11 xpart. Thats how i did it and am running it now.

Nice, he he. i'm working on a2sd and d2w final for users with ORD, it will be weekend. LOL
Hi xavierjohn22...
Just a quick update. I flashed eMIUI D2EXT X-PART 1.2.4 and I'm getting the same result with the UID message. Went back further to 1.1.28 A2SD and I no longer get the UID message. Very strange. Maybe it's related in some way to D2EXT? I also never got this issue with D2W.
I will try the 1.2.11 A2SD ROM alter and let you know the result.

Here are some things you should know before you install this ROM:
1. Suggestions are always welcome but I hate requests - You want something so bad, do it yourself or ask HTC. You paid them not me.
2. Custom Roms come without warranty. They are tested before release but something always can go bad. So if you broke your phone or you got fired because the alarm didn't rang - It's not my problem !
3. Don't compare Roms. It is rude and offensive for chefs. If other Rom has what you need, use that Rom.
4. Don't ask for ETAs.. Period !
5. All modders or anyone can make whatever changes they want to NExtGen but release your work as a flashable mod to NExtGen. Don't release another ROM by just changing small stuff here and there. You do not have my permission to crap on XDA's forum.

It is assumed that you have Yannou's recovery and a nandroid backup with you always.
1. Partitioning through recovery:
Backup your SD card on your computer.
Boot into recovery by reinserting the battery and holding down volume down and then power buttons together.
Use volume down button to go down and select ‘advanced’.
Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M). This is the size of your extended partition where all apps and dalvik cache will be stored. Choose 512M (mb) or 1024M. It's more than enough.
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Once finished, connect your phone to computer. ‘Go to Mounts and Storage Menu’ and select the last option ‘mount USB storage’. You can then copy back your data to SD card.
That's all.
2. Memory management:
I have been asked about this 100s of times. I am posting all the info that will explain how NExtGen works. Basically there are 3 important directories that store all your user files.
/data/app - here all the user apps are stored
/data/dalvik-cache - here the dalvik cache of all apps is stored.
/data/data - here the data of all user apps is stored.
/data partition is the internal memory of HTC Explorer (150mb in size)
With mount2sd you can move all this data to the ext partition we created in the above guide. By default in NExtGen (since v1.2) apps and dalvik cache is moved to the ext partition while app data is kept on internal memory so that there are no lags while opening applications. You can choose what to move to external too. Check the following information on how you can configure it.
1. Apps:
To move apps, use this command in terminal emulator (comes with ROM pre-installed.)
Type su and grant root privileges.
m2sd apps enable
- By enabling this option, the script will move all apps from /data/app into /sd-ext/app and link that folder to the original path so that Android can find the content.
similarly if you use m2sd apps disable, all apps will be moved to the internal memory.
2. Dalvik Cache:
m2sd dalvik enable/disable
- By enabling this option, the script will move all content from /data/dalvik-cache into /sd-ext/dalvik-cache and link that folder to the original path so that Android can find the content.
3. Data:
m2sd data enable/disable
- By enabling this option, the script will move all content from /data/data into /sd-ext/data and link that folder to the original path so that Android can find the content.
You can check the status of what's on your internal memory and what's on your sd-ext by typing this in terminal emulator.
Type su and press enter
Type m2sd status and press enter. You will see something like this -

You need yannou's recovery and partitioned sd card.. which you would have already if you were on jaggyrom. The main difference is use of Mounts2sd which will work better than a2sd. Please refer to features section.

you really cool to see a new rom popping..

Hope the ROM is quite light and zippy...
AND NOW SOME SUGGESTION:
1. please try and edit the media_profiles.xml and get the best possible values..
2. HTC Explorer camera produces somewhat dark pictures...i am not talking about exposure..(and u cant increase exposure much as pics get blurry)..but on other phones i find the camera produces bright images even on low exposure..i think it has something to do with white balance..hope that can be improved..Hope u understood:angel:
3. Is it possible to get sweep panorama on our phone...would be great if you add it..

How to enter into recovery mode:
With ZTE V970 completely turned off, press and hold VOL. UP key and turn on the phone. After the splash logo appears, all keys should be released.
Download ZTE V970 CWM recovery and follow this MT657x flashing tutorial.
Warning: the package includes preloader, but there's no need to flash it. Make sure that you select only recovery to be flashed.
Answer: Yes, you will loose all your data... unless you create a backup to restore after installing the ROM. There are two recommended ways to create backups of your userdata:
Doing the backup under custom recovery mode: navigate to backup and restore menu.
Using Titanium Backup to create a backup of your favourite applications.
Question: Can I fully revert to factory settings?
Answer: Sure, just download the full stock ROM and use SP Flash Tool to reflash the whole NAND.
Warning: the files are for V970, so if you are flashing a V970M make sure that you deselect preloader or else you'll get a brick.
Question: In phone specifications it's stated that it has 4 GB of eMMC, but only approximately 500 MB are available for internal storage... Can you explain me the reason for that?
Answer: The phone has indeed 4 GB of eMMC. Part of it is used by system and cache partitions, while the rest of the size is divided into internal storage (approximately 500 MB) and an internal sdcard partition (approximately 2 GB). If you find that an internal sdcard partition is useless (and have a big external sdcard), you can extend userdata partition (internal sdcard partition completely disabled). Jump into post #4 to learn how to apply that mod.
Question: Somehow I have got invalid IMEI numbers. How do I restore my phone's IMEI numbers?
Answer: Read this tutorial. Don't forget to say thanks to its author.
Question: Does my phone really have two IMEI numbers?
Answer: Every dual SIM smartphone based on MT65xx SoC has two IMEI numbers. Some just don't display both numbers on dialler when you type code *#06#, but if you go into Settings / About phone / Status / IMEI information you'll see the IMEI set for both slots.
Question: How can I access hidden MediaTek engineering mode?
Answer: From phone's dialler type code *#*#3646633#*#*.
Question: Are your custom ROMs patched to fix Android's master key (bugs 8219321 and 9695860) vulnerabilities?
Answer: No, but the solution to that is pretty simple:
Install Xposed framework (instructions on the support thread)
Install Master key dual fix module (instructions available also on it's support thread)
To check if system is vulnerable you can use one of the following apps:
SRT AppScanner
Bluebox Security Scanner
All credits to rovo89 for the amazing Xposed framework and also to Tungstwenty for the Master key universal fix.
Question: I don't have this phone, but mine is also based on the same MT6577 SoC. Can I still flash your recovery and install your custom ROMs?
Answer: Even though your phone is based on the same SoC, there may be differences in other hardware components. It is not likely that recovery and ROMs will work on your phone so you may risk to brick it.
Question: After installing Android 4.1 based ROMs, I'm not able to access sdcard anymore, even though it is accessible via CWM recovery.
Answer: Due to hardware differences between models, the included kernel is not compatible. The alternative is to flash the latest V970 kernel compiled by @superdragonpt, which can be found here.
ZTE V970 internal memory re-partition
Initial notes:
Make sure that you have a full nandroid backup of your current ROM. If not, boot into recovery mode and make one. This is very important if you want to restore userdata after internal memory is re-partitioned.
Also make sure that you have a backup of your internal sdcard because it will be fully erased and disabled.
Warning: the package includes preloader, but there's no need to flash it. Make sure that your selection is according to the screenshot bellow.
Instructions:
Copy disable_internal_sdcard.zip to external sdcard (read note bellow)
Shutdown the phone
Open SP Flash Tool v3.1222.00 (or higher) and load the scatter file
Flash MBR, EBR1 and RECOVERY as shown on the next image (read flashing tutorial first):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After flashing is complete, boot into recovery mode and format /data
Optionally, if you want to restore previously saved userdata, go to nandroid backup / restore and restore data (advanced restore feature)
Install disable_internal_sdcard.zip file through recovery mode (read note bellow)
Reboot your phone and enjoy your extended userdata partition
Important update: All the new ROM updates which include AROMA installer also include a script to automatically disable internal sdcard if extended userdata partition is detected. Dismiss the part of the instructions that refers to the installation of disable_internal_sdcard.zip file (a must if you have installed a JB based ROM). All the rest of the procedure is still valid and must be done before installing the ROM. That said, if you are going to apply this modification, you must re-install the ROM.
Hi Bruno! How are you...nice to see you here! So i will try on my etotalk phone!
Hello,
I think it is time to change my phone from Lenovo A750 to ZTE V970.
Sent from my Lenovo A750 (Smilevvv 4.0.3_623_V3 mod)
Just a simple but important request for all users: please do not host my files in any other mirror. Just refer to this main thread here.
Bruno, is using ZOPO MT6577 USB Driver for this update OK?! Problem was, on etotalk installed recovery 5.xxx the ROM Installation has aborted!
When i use the MTK Preloader i have do same way like on ZP200 ICS update, so when i use SP Tools from this, i have to put your recovery image into flashsoftware and boot image from your ROM too!? Sorry for this question, but every try of installation aborted....
It should be fine if you have used SP Flash Tool before with any MT6575 phone because then you already have MTK USB VCOM driver installed.
You just need to flash recovery.img using SP Flash Tool (in the middle of my tutorial you will find the instructions on how to flash recovery). Then boot into recovery mode and update the ROM.
OK, let`s try! THX my friend, nice to see, that you will have this phone too!
I sold my HTC Wind last week and my ZP200.... so i will have this, and the ZP900 too in moment as china Model by etotalk.com!

Hi all I bought this phone too, awsome phone and I found this great thread here in XDA... Is it possible to share the etotalk ROM for the V970? Or this custom ROM from Bruno is a better ROM?
Mostly Bruno`s ROMs are much more effective, i used on many phones his ROMs and they are free of chinese things, working faster! So try this one! I will not upload any ROMs by etotalk, because we have agreement about, like i respect Bruno`s statement. Don`t share!
Bruno, where do i get APX drivers or MKT chipset drivers for this phone?

I don't know what you mean with APX driver. The only drivers you may need are MTK USB VCOM drivers (to flash your MTK phone through cable, using SP Flash Tool) or the normal ADB drivers from Google (for the ADB interface). MTK USB VCOM drivers are available on my 4shared folder along with the latest version of SP Flash Tool.

Just download the full stock ROM for V970 (from my 4shared folder) and you will get the correct scatter file. Please be sure not to use preloader or DSP_BL images from other phones as you may brick your device.
i just figured that i have a phone with Tegra chipset, so can't use your ROM

Really? I don't have any CID problem and as far as I know it is not an IMEI issue. It depends on the network operator.
Anyway, check out cybermaus thread to know how to change IMEI numbers.

Huawei U8836D internal memory re-partition
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Dismiss the part of the instructions that refers to the installation of disable_internal_sdcard.zip file. All the rest of the procedure is still valid and must be done before installing the ROM. That said, if you are going to apply this modification, you must re-install the ROM.
Please also note that this mod should only work with my custom ROM installed. Be warned and please do not blame me if you run into some problem while applying the mod over stock or any other custom ROM
Thanks Bruno for the recovery image. I will get it flashed when I am back home.
I have noticed that actual phone reception signal levels are lower than my W3+ Thl phone. Have you noticed any difference in signal levels where you are against your ZTE 970? It may be just the algorithm they use on this one.
I love the tricolour led but lack of tts settings is a little annoying. Overall, I am very pleased with it so far though.
Thanks Bruno - I look forward to some custom ROMs - I'd managed to dump the entire original ROM last week having made a scatter file then add Gapps but nothing else. I'm completely new to modding and happy to do any testing etc. My phone had the original factory ROM.
Yes the signal reported does seem on the low side. The battery drain does seem a little high as well so far even when not constantly playing with it!!) - wonder if the CPU governor is set properly?
Edit - gave the phone a good full charge overnight - before using it today and down to 90% after 12 hours - with little/no use - so about normal for a smartphone. Probably hadn't charged it fully before!!
Thanks Bruno, my phone is at this time only paperweight, so I am waiting impatiently for your ROM.
Thanks for the recovery img Bruno.
For those of you who want to install the Huawei HiSuite app on your phone and desktop but can not get a link from the Huawei site here, I have uploaded it to 4Shared and you can download it from this folder here.This suite allows some syncing to be done and some backups etc. Full details on the Huawei website.
EDIT:
Bruno, not quite sure what happens but after flashing your custom recovery and testing it, I reboot and the original recovery returns! Just to make sure that I was not going mad, I flashed the custom recovery image again. I can use it, I have even done a back up of the system but after running the phone and a reboot, the original recovery returns again.
Is there anything to resolve this, are you having same problems? This is really strange.
EDIT:
From MSprecher
The custom recovery is allways overwritten by the stockrecovery when booting the phone. This can be avoided by rebooting from within the CustomRecovery right after having flashed it. There should be an extra-option after the reboot-command in CWM-Recovery to avoid this.
Enjoy Matthias

Yes, that happens with the stock ROM installed and the workaround for now is the one Matthias already told you. With my custom ROM installed that will not happen.
Thanks, the option to allways use custom recovery does appear and you have to confirm this option before first reboot. Thanks guys.
Bruno it will be great (i don't know if it is possible) if the new rom could aggregate the memories, i mean the same you did on the ZTE, putting the same storage for programs and the only sdcard is the external.
Yes, I plan to release the same extended userdata mod as I did for V970, but not integrated into the ROM, so that users can choose want they want.
Btw, i found now in my small experience with the device two problems:
- Some apps can't be installed (Asphalt 7, Sports Tracker, WorldMate, etc.) which were working in my previous Gsmart G1345. Is it due to the Mtk CPU??
- Comparing again the two devices, this one has a worse GPS, much more inaccurate and very slower in getting signal.
Lets wait for your fantastic Rom, Bruno.
Crake you are right, I cannot install profile scheduler+ or EasyProfiles Pro due incompatibility. DualSIM?
No, that is a problem of permissions. It will be working on the custom ROM, don't worry.

I have already enabled Speech category (Voice search and TTS output) under Language & input menu, so you'll be able to access TTS settings.
By the way, I will release the first custom ROM today. It will not support any additional language other than the default ones - English and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) because I don't have time right now to do it. The support for more languages will only be included in the next version. Hope you all understand!
awesome!!
u know I have been waiting for a rom for this phone u8836D from day one, because i messed it up on the day i received it, especially replacing the system folder files etc.. just pain in the bum to not have a rom (even stock rom) handy. And it's been endless waiting...
when your first post came up, I opened your shared folder for like a million times to try to find the rom, but just recovery img there, i thought I missed something maybe and read all your posts another million times...
Now just 10 mins ago, it appears in that lovely folder just like a magic...
Will let you know how I go...
i haven't learned my lessons from my last 5 Android phones...all I want now is just clean system with google services on...
When we get that, we star talking optimization and who's ass is more sex lol
Okay, I have just uploaded the first custom ROM for U8836D into my 4shared folder.
Please read what are the fixes / modifications that I've made over the stock ROM on the third post of this thread or in the readme.pdf that's inside the .7z file.
Enjoy! :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: I forgot to say that this ROM clears all userdata, so make a backup first using Titanium Backup, for example. But please note: do not restore any contact / messages database. Let Android create it from the scratch or else, if you restore everything the CID bug will be there again!
So how do I restore (and backup) sms, contacts and call logs to avoid CID bug?
Simple: you don't restore. Just sync the contacts again with Google (or Exchange), let the database be built from scratch and that's it. It's either that or having the nasty CID bug back...

Recovery INFO
The salient features of Carliv Touch Recovery include:

Aroma File Manager Support
Support for both Edify and Amend scripting allows flashing all ROMs
Touch screen button controls
Advanced Backup
Advanced Restore

Update CTR v2.5 (30/07/2014)
Changelogs:
New Menu Layout
Tar + Gzip Backup Compression : ( "Backup/Restore" -> "Default Backup Format" )
Your Backups will be smaller now, just like on the old native CWM
Removed "wipe all" option from wipe menu ( if you need to wipe system, use "format system" from "mounts/storage")
Rearanged menu order in root menu to restore CWM order
There's now an "nvram backup/restore" menu in "carliv" section
The nvram partition will be backed up in clockworkmod/backup folder as nvram.img. This will help if you lose IMEI and other communication features. It will work only if you have the nvram partition of size 0x500000 (check your scatter) and if you have the nvram defined as /dev/nvram path in recovery.fstab. If the nvram partition is damaged (as in flashing an oversized recovery) this will not help you, and you need SPFlashTools to reflash with format your phone official firmware, and after that flash this recovery, boot in recovery and restore nvram.
some other small changes.

Hi
You guys are all crazy with the MTK leaked sources, but do you even have an clue what those sources are?
You cant just compile an source that's customize for other phone , thinking it will work on yours.
There's a lot of work to be done, and you need an huge amount of luck to have your phone drivers available in that source.
This said, I will appreciate that people avoid off-topic and other phones talk in this thread.
This ROM and recovery will only work on wiko darkmoon and Micromax a200 (clone).
If your using this ROM as a base for another MT6582 phone, please be an gentlemen and give proper credits.

Do you know by any chance if there is any option to add languages to this rom? Wiko doesn't include many languages. I can use locale2 from google play, but that only translates some of the functions.

Hi
Yes i know, when i made a MIUI rom for my old ZTE v970, i had an hard time trying to find the proper strings for your language.
Even on stock roms from big brands, its very rare to find support for that language.
Im trying to merge and revise some strings from various sources, maybe in an future version.

Great, that would be awsome.
As for rarity of my language, I find it quite well supported. Google Nexus has it, all Samsungs have it, so does HTC, Sony... I know Prestigio and Gsmart have it. CM also. It's not a big deal, but nevertheless - I wouldn't mind having it
Great ROM btw, very customizable.

Hi
Well good news and bad news
The good:
I managed to Build an UNOFFICIAL Lewa Rom for our device, currently fixing the lastest issues and adding multi-language support.
So since im currently working on this language strings, might as well use that work for this rom also.
Preview pics:

Http://imgur.com/1IADxZx
Http://imgur.com/1C56EO6
The bad:
From what i gather until now, only about 100 slovenian strings are compatible (this is less than 5% of overall translation files), will keep looking
