Alright, I'm packing up some ODINs in order to make things easier for some people. All these include is /system, kernel, and recovery. You will need to get the modems yourself, which are available in dwith's deodexed thread. You need to be on RFS before flashing any of these (except the CM build probably). Also, none of these have been tested, so if your phone gets AIDS, herpes, or the clap it wasn't my fault.

All you need to do is flash dwitherell's zip and then go in with Titanium and use your pew pew lazer beams to debloat. Mine's not that great of a debloat - I ended only freeing about 92 MB from the system ROM because I'm not sure what can and can't be removed from the behind the scenes portion.

Lol - it's not too hard, and thanks for making the Odin-able stuffs
I'll take a crack at a debloat of sorts, though I may go about it in an unconventional way so I don't have to upload a new set of zips I'll try to hammer something out throughout the day/this evening.

Note that this is Sbrissen's kang-build: all restrictions are still in place. No data.
WARNING: the CM10.1 ZIP formats phone to EXT4 and I have no idea if the Odin will so the same. Might need to flash the EXT4 formatter in CWM before flashing this. Or it might just kill your phone. You've been warned. This one is a bit iffy. On the plus side, I have this build running on my spare Charge (zip install) and it's beautiful.

Odexed is stock, AFAIK it's not very popular. Anyway all you would need to do is flash the bloated odexed version, then debloat with Titanium.

no, Stock is ODEX'd. You would need to deodex it. This would allow you to make themes, and modify system files.

I have the drivers installed, net 2.0 framework, mono for xp installed usb debugging turned on...yada yada. Every time I try to open superoneclick it fails to run...it gives me an error message that the application had to close and then offers me the option to send error report. I've tried downloading superoneclick versions 1.7 through 2.1 and none of them will run. What am I missing? Why is this so hard?
Thanks

Thanks, however I don't necessarily want to flash a rom. She is very happy with touchwiz, I just want to be able to delete bloatware, make backups, etc....basically I just want her to have root access. If she wants to flash a rom she can do that later, it's her first smartphone and she's not that adventurous.
There's stock roms rooted as well such as kd1(last official rom released for sgs4g) and most of the roms still use touch wiz. They can be found in the sgs bible. As long as they have the word "stock" in them they are just that... Stock with every piece of bloatware included.
Hope this helps

Defiantly backup first... Titanium should do.

IMO, you should flash KH2 and drhonk's kh2 kernel. It adds ext4 support, auto-roots and adds red cwm, but leaves things stock from there on. There's a raw odexed leak available on these forums, as well as a stock but deodexed (well, the crt on/off effect is added), as well as whitehawk's Valhalla, which is stock (and deodexed), except it has the power menu mod and custom lockscreens (9 of them, zOMG).
My personal recommendation is the odexed leak and drhonk's kh2 kernel. I'm not big on deodexed roms, myself, but it's more a personal choice than anything. Also, if you go this route, all you need is Odin
Moving to Gingerbread is the best thing I ever did on this phone. I strongly urge you to dump froyo straight away, and make the move to gb!
Hope this helps you decide what to do
[Odin]What Time is it? It's Leak Time T959VUVKH2 Build Date 08/11
[Kernel][GB][KG4/KG6/KH2] Stock Kernel + CWM + Voodoo EXT4 Lagfix
[ROM-Leak][CWM] Gingerbread 2.3.4 T959VUVKH2 Deodexed + CRT On and Off Enabled!
[ROM] Valhalla v1.1 [KH2][9 Lockscreens!][9.15.2011]
Oh, and, if you're like me, you HATE the T-Mobile jingle/animation.
Here's a little package I cooked up for CWM to replace the T-Mobile boot/shutdown animations and sounds with those from the Galaxy S II (GB only):
[MOD][CWM][GB] Galaxy S II Boot/Shutdown Animations w/Sound
I would love to backup first, but I don't know how if I'm not already rooted. Titanium only works with root.

Moving to Q&A
Why don't you just use Odin to flash Bali on froyo. Backup. Flash gb. Restore data. Not sure if that will work. I remember there being froyo to GB issues. just list your apps and start from scratch. It's worth it, as jay says.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
If you want to restore your froyo apps on GB, you can either use Titanium Backup, or these steps in the advanced restore option in CWM, as tested by another member here:
Flash whichever GB ROM you want according to instructions, but don't boot the rom when complete (do a battery pull if you have to).
Flash Bali Kernel on top of your GB rom, DO NOT BOOT THE ROM
Use CWM, go to restore, then advanced restore your data, DO NOT BOOT THE ROM
Reboot recovery, and flash one of DrHonks GB kernel
That *should* restore your data. I personally haven't tried this, but a few members reported that it works.
I found this script somewhere on XDA when trying to figure out how to reodex a Gingerbread ROM. It worked perfectly for toadlife's Clean3G ROM. I just installed all my customizations first, then rebooted again into CWM and ran this. It will look like it's frozen for a while. Just give it 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
I always wondered why people deodexed...

wont this break the no ciq patch?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
No. The reason I ended up doing this is that I wanted the No CIQ patch but I also wanted to remain ODEXED.
Hmm interesting, might try it out later and at the person asking why make deodexed: its because mods and themes are easier to make with deodex and odex is very limted to what u can do on themes and mods

Generally it makes your boot times faster and overall smoother loading i believe
Not to mention it saves a good amount of space since odexed APKs and JARs use less room.
I did some digging and found this: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide
So, it's only the first boot that's slower? But, I guess it does save space overall, so that's probably reason enough to do it.
I remember tanimn did something like this a while back for EC05 I believe. Good stuff

On MTD mount system in CWM before flashing.
For those that wish to restore the full Sprint Boot animation the thread is here:

Remember to mount system if you are on MTD before flashing each file.
And to return to Sprint if your USB port is broken it is helpful to have the stock kernel numbers in the About Phone section so Marcusant whipped up a stock MTD kernel just for this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32800014/StockFC09kernel.zip
So find him and thank him if it helped you.
This can be used if you cannot odin in stock to go to Sprint. Remember to delete Superuser. And you can install the stock recovery from the file in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904&highlight=rerfs
Superuser is tough to getr rid of. Muyoso found that it is actually reinstalling itself upon reboot after deletion. Thanks to him for pointing it out in his efforts to get back to stock. He tore through the scripts deleting all instances of su. PM Muyoso if you need help with this.

It doesn't look like anything is really around for this, and with a few other options already I am unsure how useful it is, but I figured I would post it anyway.
[size=+1]I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE![/size]
I am normally a bit verbose on things, but I really didn't do much here. The below files were all pulled from either dumps from the phone (/system, kernel) or from the FP5-to-FP8 update zip.
The odexed version I did NOTHING to (except fashion it into something CWM flashable), which means it is unrooted and it will overwrite both the kernel and any custom recovery with stock variants. The deodexed/zipaligned version includes SuperSU v1.25 (found here) as well as busybox (v1.20.2 thanks to imnuts). It does not include a kernel, and I also put a .bak at the end of /system/etc/install-recovery.sh to avoid the custom recovery overwrite that goes on when that file is unedited.
You will need to have CWM (version 5.0.2.7 can be found here, but earlier versions like 4.0.1.4 will work fine as well) already on your phone, and I would strongly recommend doing a data wipe/factory reset within CWM before flashing either of the full roms (odexed or deodexed) as well.
Also - if you are flashing one with a kernel, MAKE SURE voodoo lagfix is completely disabled and /data, /dbdata, /cache, and /system are all rfs BEFORE flashing!
CWM Installation instructions:
- Download file and place on sdcard
- Boot into CWM recovery
- Recommended to wipe data/factory reset
- If flashing a kernel - you better not be ext4
- Install the .zip you put on your sdcard
NOTES:
While I am unsure how relevant it is now, I have encountered an occasional odd issue in the past with CWM after flashing that seems to require adb to resolve.
The issue is that after flashing and then booting into recovery, I occasionally get a "can't mount /sdcard" error. Apparently that in itself is a known issue, and it is listed as such in the CWM recovery thread.
The fix requires you to perform the following commands using ADB:
Code:
adb shell
umount /sdcard
rm -f /sdcard
mkdir /sdcard
exit
If you do not have ADB installed and you are having the "can't mount /sdcard" error after flashing - I have a possible workaround for you. Download the ADBsdcardFix.zip here - then extract the folder (should be fine to extract it to your desktop) and attach your phone to the computer via USB (I did this while the phone was already in CWM). Open the newly-extracted ADB folder, and then double-click on the CWMsdcardFix.bat - something should pop up on the screen for a brief second, which is completely normal. After double-clicking the .bat file, on the phone go to mounts and storage, then select mount /sdcard - and it now should work!
Either approach here (adb code or the stuff in ADBsdcardFix.zip) has worked every time I have needed it, although again in my experience I have not been able to cull the rhyme or reason out of when that need will present itself.
Please let me know if there are any problems/issues.

LOL - truth be told since the update I haven't done all that much really - mostly chase down bugs that people report, that's about it.
That being said - it is fun, so guilty as charged

Dwit, nobody cares how long it takes you. You do far more work on the charge than you've got any reason to. I'm fairly certain I'm slightly gay for you, and the second I'm not perpetu-broke, you're gonna get some serious sammich moneys. The fact that the charge is still even on your ****ing backburner in 2013 is simply amazing, and we all love you for it.
I still have a Charge and I have rocked Tweaked on the Note 2.
Tweaked is seriously top notch stuff.
Don't update dwith, then I don't have to spend hours tweaking my new version of tweaked
I know there are a few Chargers out there still , it is fun to stop in every now and then.

Lolz - yeah yeah I know. To be fair I haven't done too much android stuff at all over the last week or two - I've been at the new job long enough that they feel I'm ready for workload inundation. I hear MidnightNinja has something together on another forum though
NinjaRomV2 is available over on chargeforums.
http://www.chargeforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=59137
As well as eclipse over on Nitro's site (made a thread).
Both are solid Roms with different color bases and options. It make take Dwith awhile to build the new Tweaked, but at least we have something!
I really like both Roms that are out. I have backups so that I can switch between them. Midnight has the libdroid toggles (status bar) like in Tweaked, with a green base, and Nitro has a few CM features like DSPManager, and an ICS blue color base.
Don't mean to derail your thread Dwith, just trying to take some of the pressure off .
