Hi everyone ,
I am Rahul from Delhi , India .
My Atrix 2 has been behaving very weirdly .
From the very first day (its 3 months old now) i had this issue of WIFI connection lost , it used to connect to wifi , it will stay good for 5 10 minutes and then it will just not work , though the wifi icon will REMAIN in the notification bar and will REMAIN BLUE. I had to disconnect and then reconnect for it to work and then again the same story , it wont work again after 5 minutes and again reconnect.
I had to do this 100 times a day to use Whatsapp.
BUT the vodafone net (GPRS) used to work for hours continuously.
THEN came the ICS update and MAGIC .
EVERYTHING GOT FINE , WIFI would stay on for like hours without a single drop.
Now again since 3 days again the same issue .
Now its EVEN WORSE .
WIFI goes off after 5 minutes , and SO DOES THE vodafone NET.
I am helpless.
What should i do
can you provide a logcat?
adb logcat -v long > /sdcard/logfile.txt
Or you can try this instead:
adb logcat -b radio > logcat_radio.txt
to get the logcat information about radios
I have a somewhat similar problem as the OP.
radio Log

Sorry i am new to this thing , i provided you with the normal log .
I tried a lot to get the "adb logcat -b" but i couldn't figure out how to.
I found a page which had the procedure get the logcat but the procedure started with "android-sdk_r10-windows.zip" but this now has been replaced by "android-sdk_r20.0.3-windows.zip" on the developers website and this new version does not have ADB ,it has "AVD" .
Please guide me through .
I really need your help to sort out this issue , its very very irritating

well, actually, the adb files can be downloaded via the Android SDK Manager(by ticking Android SDK Platform-tools and install it). However, if you can generate the normal logcat, then you should be able to generate the radio for logcat though.
And the command is "adb logcat -b radio", not "adb logcat -b" (which I believe is the error)

I put in the right command , it says "Waiting for device" .
i Did a factory reset in the morning.
DO i need to do anything extra ?
witch ICS firmware you using?
you have RIL errors, you must flash the correct radio image for your operator.
if you are in 6.7.2_EDEM-18-ASIAOPS_cfc.xml.zip ,then flash the 6.7.2_EDEM-18-SEARET_cfc.xml.zip
if same error , flash the 6.7.2_EDEM-18-MEARET_cfc.xml.zip
bafore flashing anything, install CID getter app from play market, and put the make a screen-shots for all data on application. and put here

NO , my phone is not vodafone branded , its unloacked by default and i use a vodafone sim.
These are the details :
System version : 672.1.18.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Android version : 4.0.4
Firmware Config version : GAS_ASIA_EDISONICSRTSEA_P018
kernel : 3.0.8 -g635d08a
Bulid Number : 6.7.2_EDM-18
But this is the first time i am facing this problem (since 3 days) in 3 months and what is the reason for WIFI not working ??
"install CID getter app from play market, and put the make a screen-shots for all data on application."
Which data are you talking about ?
what screen shots should i take ?
Thanks

did you had another device plugged at the usb port? remove it. Or if you have any other android emulator running(the ones from avd, or bluestacks and etc), disable it as well as it will interfere with the process
i need the baseband version from "about phone" also
and at least, the 1-2 page of cid getter , from gsm.network.type to hw.hdmi.statue
and persist.ril.features to ro.3lm.production page 5-6
---------- Post added at 07:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 PM ----------
did you changed in advanced wi-fi options : keep wifi on during sleep to (always)?
your log have no info about wifi, start a full logcat session and then connect to wifi and open any website.then stop the logcat

Hey i reinstalled the usb drivers and now i can get the logcat in command prompt window.
But the prob is the starting portion disappears as the new entries start comming.
What point should i start the log and finish so that u get what u need .
This is the log when i used the GPRS and it was working fine throught the duration.

Sir i am not sure wether Wifi was on or the grps was on when i took the CID getter snapshots.
If u want anything specifice , like snaps again with wifi on i can do that again for you .
The phone came with gingerbread (2.3.7 i guess) and i upgraded it to ICS over-the-air (OTA) .
NO the phone is NOT rooted.
No i dont use any third part application for wifi manager/monitor . However ICS has in inbulit data monitor .
I am attaching logcats herewith , the first one is when the GPRS was connected and stopped working .
The second one is when the WIFI was connected and STOPPED working during the duration .
I managed to capture both
Thanks again
A factory reset has made things go from bad to worse. Now the phone just cannot hold mobile signal, which swings like a pendulum. And the less said about the data connection, the better :'(
I have some data issues (wifi+hspa+).i'm working around the problems.

Oh, NO, It's HELL.
If you think it's important to get sourcecode, don't jump to redmi3s/3x yet.
If you insist it, you are wellcome.

Very interesting! I've been away from Xiaomi for about 2 years... but decided to get the Redmi 3S as backup phone. Now running some Chinese CM 13 rom, but this looks promising.
Totally forgot about Xiaomi and the trouble surround kernel sources. I remember with the Mi2S we used a kernel build from scratch too for development. But it seems they do release stuff nowadays? Only not directly?

Xiaomi released some source, but redmi 3s doesn't get luck.

You're the best,
I also wrote a complaint letter today to them
Hi, I've used your device source code as base for my own port, but I updated most of the HAL drivers from stock QC files.
But I can't boot. I get stuck with an error "Too many open files". Did you ever had this bug ?
I also did my own kernel based of the LA.UM.5.3_RB1.1 It seam to be the most up to date for MSM8937.
You can have a look at my port here :
Kernel : https://github.com/supercairos/android_kernel_xiaomi_msm8937

copy from porting kernel thread:
About LA.UM.5.3-01110-8x37.0:
I just try to find a QAEP release which match the release date of Redmi 3S as much as possible. Nothing more.
About "too many open files":
My repo #deccaf5 (9.21.2016) can boot cm, but it need force reboot several times.
After that commit, the error same as yours. Sorry for my bad.
https://github.com/yangyangnau/andro...ce_xiaomi_land
A few of days ago, I'm try using my kernel and proprietary-files.txt with the repo below.
https://github.com/Silentlys/android_device_xiaomi_land
Clean the fake kernel header tree. Clean the malware (2345 stuff). Clean TWRP stuffs.
No luck. Just get black screen. Can't remember the error messages. Could be "too many open files".
I guess the proprietary-files.txt is a problem.
Thanks!
Might be
I will investigate more soon. I've tried to raise the Open file limit but doesn't seams to fix the issue.
About the Kernel Xiaomi based his SW on, it's probably LA.UM.5.1_rb1.4 (not sure what manifest exactly quite hard to test ) as it's the branch that Ardreno was build on (you can check the logs and see that at each app boot). I based mine on the lastest branch that support msm8937_64.

I don't think the kernel version is a big issue, but i will check it.

Agreed
update:
https://github.com/Silentlys/android_device_xiaomi_land/issues/3
https://github.com/Silentlys/proprietary_vendor_xiaomi
we can update the proprietary-files.txt, and try to build CM soon.
Still can't boot CM-13.
