ok...so i screwed up and loaded the wrong ROM. downloaded the wrong ROM and loaded a ROM meant for 4.2.1 pn my tab that is still on 4.1.1.
So the tablet wont load of course. I tried to go back to TWRP so I can load a different ROM and get back to a ROM that I can use
my problem is now my touch screen is not responding. I have had this issue on the clean ROM and a simple reboot and letting it settle when powered back on would fix this. That it just letting it sit for a while and turning the screen off and on would do it too.
I can get to the twrp screen but cannot press anything. Maybe I am missing it or can't find it but is there a way to go back to stock and start over?

Try resetting via the small reset hole, that might fix it.
If not, there is a thread that describes in detail, how to unbrick using fastboot.
Hope those instructions will help.

It is on the same side as the volume button, more or less opposite to it.
Check the diagram in user manual, if in doubt, should be labelled reset.
You can use a paperclip to go in, but don't press too hard.

I posted a thread a few days ago about not being able to power off or restart my Samsung Galaxy s2 skyrocket on ATT. I am using SKy's ICS rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216 with the newest update and I still cannot turn it off. The response I got was to use the Darkside Wipe, I tried that, loaded the base rom, then rebooted (it rebooted on its own) flashed the update, and now im back to it not being able to turn off.... I have searched every where and everyone says the issue is resolved, but its not working. Please point me in the right direction to fix this issue.

Thank you! Did't want to have to pull the battery anytime I needed to restart my phone. Holding the power button in for 10-15 seconds even when its froze forces it to restart. At least now I can put my case back on it....
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to stop it from freezing up? Or at least know whats causing it?
I had this problem too with the Ics roms. If you use the touch recovery to wipe factory data reset it should work. I used to one recommended in the sky Ics thread and had no problems after that.

Do you have a link to it? I have been looking for options and I must be missing it.
I did do the Dark Side complete wipe, and after it worked, it stopped working when I applied the update.

Just factory wipe, wipe cache, dalvik in whatever cwm you have
Ill try that again, and redownload the patch and see if that fixes it. Is there anyway to get an error log to see whats FCing or crashing?

Logcat with adb
Tried Owain's new ROM with a dirty flash, (silly me ) and when I rebooted, I got the boot image, but it doesn't go past that. After this I was like " Oh I can just go back to CMW and do a clean flash". After the white LG logo the Blue one came up, like normal, but then it just turns into a black screen. I cant go on my phone OR go to CMW to clean flash the ROM. Any help?
So are you not able to get into CWM by booting up with the power and down volume buttons pressed? If not, are you able to get into the S/W update screen? (Battery out, volume button held down, insert USB)
If you can't get to boot into CWM at all but can get into the S/W update screen, you can use NVFlasher to reflash CWM. Or, at worst case, install stock.

Flashing stock just didn't work, still stuck at boot image. Im going to try flashing CMW over stock.
______EDIT_____
WHOOOOOOP!!! IT WORKED!
Ok, now I have CMW. but I still can't boot into my phone. Should I flash different ROM, because I think it is because of Owain's boot image that I am stuck.
Wipe completely then factory reset and then go to mounts and storage and wipe system and then flash a rom. If that's too hard then stick to stock, and read some more. That way you wont have to sit around pulling your hair out and stressing or sitting with a nice paper weight. Good luck.

Well thanks guys! I tried to flash Owain's ROM, but the boot image thing was in my way. So I went back to EGB to see whats happenin. I flashed it and it worked ( After I peed in my pants quite a few times ) !!!!! Thanks for holdin out with me guys! I will probably go back to Owain's ROM when next update comes up!
I've been having a bit of a hard time with a friend's Skyrocket tonight. I flashed CM9 for her before, and it seems to work well. In the past two to three weeks, though, she tells me that her phone's been randomly turning off. Tonight, I finally decided to install CM10 on the Skyrocket, thinking that this would fix the issue. I installed it through CWM like normal (I've flashed many a ROM, so I couldn't have messed up this process).
With everything installed, I reboot through CWM. The issue is, the phone just goes black. After pulling the battery and trying to boot again, I see the Samsung logo, followed by a black screen. The phone sort of pulsates for a bit at this point, giving me a short vibration here and there, before finally stopping. Attempting to get into recovery doesn't work either. I also, due to me not being used to the download mode feature (I personally have a Galaxy Nexus), accidentally tried to start it by holding the power and volume buttons (rather than holding volume and plugging the phone in, not touching power). The yellow triangle would show up very briefly, and then the phone shuts off.
When getting into download mode the proper way, I was able to get into Odin and flash CWM again. At this point, I should definitely be able to get into Recovery. But alas, I cannot... Same issues as before. At this point, it's revealed to me that, after the random shutoffs that my friend had been experiencing, she would sometimes also have trouble turning the phone back on. Noticing a trend?
I'd like to know what you guys think: Is this a software issue, or is it a hardware issue? For the former, what do you guys recommend so the phone could boot normally again? And for the latter, well... I don't suppose there are any easy hardware fixes I could try?
If you pull the battery and reinsert does the phone start on its own with no button pushes? If so... Stuck power button.

Nope, not at all. I need to press the power button for it to start.
It'd flash back to stock with Odin and then go from there.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't try flashing to stock because I figured it would work, but somehow, it did. I still feel that there's something wrong with the power button, and I'll be doing some more testing, but for now, everything's okay. Thanks for your help.
I bet you can reflash cm10 and it'll work fine. Just do a factory reset and the wipes and you'll be fine.

I had to reset my phone so I pulled the battery and everything went smoothly until I hit the lockscreen. The lockscreen will load up, but at a really slow pace, I let it sit like that for a while waiting for everything to load. Once the screen went black I hit the power/unlock key and the backlight will light up, but no image will appear on the screen. I am rooted running ICS

Since when does pulling the battery reset phone?
If you have recovery, try factory reset or fxz or flash a new ROM.
Sounds like a black screen kexec problem. And possibly an OC issue? What did you flash? More info goes a lot further for anyone to help.

First things first, can you reboot your phone? If so, try it and see whether it makes a difference.
If you're using BMM and haven't touched system 1 (stock ICS) and its always the same problem when you reboot I suggest you delete the rom. Delete the system partitions from BMM menu while booting.
If you aren't using BMM or if you flashed this rom on system 1 and cannot boot into anything, then fxz back to ICS.
Hope I helped, it would also be useful to give a bit more information as the previous two users have said

Well I reset my phone because it was running a bit slow so i figured a reset wouldn't hurt. I was running stock ICS just rooted, not OC'ed at all. I guess I was being a little too worried because it's running fine now. All I did was go and flashed ICS. Thanks for the help guys.
So my power button has been broken for a couple months now and I've been using the same custom rom since. (BTW it's not the outside button, but the actual switch that's broken)
Is there any way to install a custom rom using ODIN? Or is odin only capable of installing stock roms because of the file type?
My phone wont allow me to get into the custom recovery, but I can get into Download mode.
Please help!

Idk about using Odin for custom tars, but I imagine it would take someone more effort than its worth to compile one just for this purpose. When you try booting into download mode, how are you doing this? And how are you booting into recovery? What happens once it gets there?
You could also just get the power button fixed. Then all your problems are solved.
Mobile tech videos will do it.

Doesn't ROM manager or something do reboots into recovery?
This post was made by Vanlandi.
adb reboot recovery
Actually if you didn't want to bother with setting up adb I'd imagine you could just type 'su' press enter, type'reboot recovery' and press enter into of the many terminal emulators in the play store.

Oh, well yea terminal is great as well. You can do the same for download mode as well or even try using it to attempt to delete pesky files that just won't delete with a file manager.

Ya! I forgot about terminal. You can do everything from there if you know the commands.
Kinda off topic here, but is there a thread with the common commands for terminal? Like to reboot, delete files, move files, and such.
This post was made by Vanlandi.
Not sure how you get into download but not recovery since the procedure is same except use volume up instead of volume down. Also the Quickboot app/widget is much easier than terminal emulator if just need to get to reboot/recovery or download modes. Enables the extended power menu same as the power button.

I have a similar problem, but when I use the terminal commands or any app to reboot into recovery, the phone vibrates and turns off but then stays off until I pull the battery and replace it. Also, when I try to go into download mode, it comes up for about 5 seconds then turns off (similar to SDS). Any thoughts? I originally planned to try to switch roms and see if that would fix the power button issue, but if it's hardware, I'll try to unroot and take it too Verizon as a last ditch attempt.
Also, when I take the back case off and put it back on, the power on/off screen pops up.
Thanks!
I have the same exact problem as the guy above buy my power button is just completely borked.
I thought I could get into download mode but that doesn't work either.
I'm going to try and resolder the replacement power button I purchased that didn't work.

I think the rom your trying to flash is bad …
Phone starting but getting stuck at boot screen means it's soft bricked, try flashing a different rom …
And once you manage to get your phone running use ''recovery tools'' from play store to flash a custom recovery, it flashes a touch recovery so that will eliminate your button problems …
No my phone operates fine. When I attempt to get into recovery, it restarts, a brief screen appears where it says "rebooting recovery" on the top left, and then it stays black. TO get out of this I go into Download Mode, and press Cancel to Restart.
I'm currently using CyanogenMOD 10.1.2.
At this point I'm thinking of just going to a mobile phone repair store...
