So i wanted to flash the newest Jellybam so i wiped system data cache and dalvik cache but when i booted up nothing happened and it got stuck at the HTC Experimental purposes only screen. Now i am only able to boot in to bootloader and recovery but when i try to restore the backup, there seems to be nothing on the device at all. even the internal sdcard shows nothing in it. Guys please help, this is really scaring me seeing all those empty folders and whats worse is that this is my dad's phone so he'll need it for tomorrow. Please can anyone help me out?
Did you flash the boot.img? Did you re flash the ROM? Download a different one on pc and copy it to your phone in recovery?
Did you wipe the sd card? If not, and you made a nandroid, it should still be there when you select restore, then it should show you your nandroids. Which recovery?

Thanks for replying! I only did the factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik. Then I flashed the rom and it didn't boot up at all. And now nothing is showing up on my sd. How do I transfer files to twrp cause when I go to mount sd the pc tells me format the phone. Help?

Version 2.4.1.0
Try 2.4.0.0 or 2.3.3.3 and see if it will mount properly... If you still don't see a nandroid to restore you can push a rom to the sd and reinstall. Don't forget if you install rather than restore you'll need to flash the boot image if you're not s-off.

On your laptop look in the rom zip you are trying to install - it will be called boot.img

Yes, you need to extract the boot.img from the ROM zip you are trying to flash, then flash it using fastboot on your pc. That's why your roms won't boot...no boot.img
By the way, I have a feeling you are using file manager to look for your backup. All you will see is empty folders unless you mount the partitions first under mount, but that's not how you should be looking for your backup anyways, you should be selecting "restore" from the main twrp screen, them your backups will appear. The boot.img fire your backup is still on your phone (reason the other ROM won't boot) so the easiest way to get your phone running is to restore that backup until you research and understand how to flash a custom ROM on this phone better. It can be more tricky than other phones.

in twrp if you cant mount your phone as mass storage/usb storage, you can do adb push (your rom.zip) /sdcard and let it push into phone and from there restart twrp recovery again and your rom should be there from there just click install and let it install and it will boot,
if the option is not there to mount as USB storage, you can select adb sideload which will allow you to load the your (rom.zip) and from there flash the rom, and phone will boot.
and what others talking about is get the rom.zip that you had previously installed before you wiped your phone open the .zip and look for the "boot.img" once you have that, reboot your phone into bootloader mode and connect it to the pc and it should say "fastboot" on your phone. make sure you all the drivers on your PC to do this,
open cmd prompt window and type this
"fastboot boot (drag your "Boot.img" into cmd window) and hit enter, your phone should boot right up into the rom you last had on/flashed

What!? It's - fastboot flash boot boot.img
And if he wiped system, his ROM is gone...he better have a backup.
Food you read my last post? What happens when you select restore? what is listed?

I had this same issue with newest TWRP (2.5.0?), downgraded to TWRP 2.3.3 and mounted as usb storage. I was able to transfer the ROM this way. Flashed ROM and fastboot the boot.img that I extracted from the ROM.

So will fastbooting the boot.img fix the situation?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
1. Copy ROM zip on your Sdcard.
2. When you finish, extract zip and find file boot.img. Move it into folder where you put fastboot.exe file.
3. Go into twrp (or try flashing CWM), do a full wipe and flash rom
4. Reboot after flashing
5. Hold power button for 10 seconds until it reboot. You tactile buttons will flash. Immediately hold volume down and power. Go into fastboot.
6. Hold shift and right click in folder where are located fastboot, advice, drivers and copied boot.img file in step 2 and select open command prompt here. Type into cmd:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
7. After flashing boot, type:
fastboot reboot
8. Wait, phone should be rebooted when install kernel.
If this don't work, relock your bootloader with typing in fastboot:
Fastboot oem lock
Go to fastboot again. Download RUU and flash it...
Good luck

Viper rom comes with a wifi fix. But check in here first and give it a try if your bootloader is < 1.13.

Okay, to make this clear, Im re-making the tutorial from miuiandroid forum, which is a little bit complicated if you are in noob mode.
So, first of all, to have MIUIv4 installed on your DS, you need the hboot 7.0. If you already have hboot 7.0 , follow from step 1, if you dont have hboot 7.0 follow all from step A :
Download this first : http://bigota.d.miui.com/tools/g12_v4_tools_20120724.zip
A. Rename PG88IMG_hboot_7.0.zip to PG88IMG.zip
B. Put it in your sd card root.
C. Reboot to bootloader from device, or use adb command ( adb reboot bootloader). Once you in bootloader, make sure it's not on fastboot, get back to bootloader, and it will detects the PG88IMG by itself, and confirmation for update will be shown, just press the vol up button to flash it.
D. It will reboot somehow. Delete the PG88IMG in your sd card root.
E. continue on step 1
1. Rename PG88IMG_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTCCN_CHS_3.07.1400.2_Radio_20.72.30.0833U_3831.17.00.310_release_266765_signed.zip to PG88IMG.zip
2. Put it in your sd card root.
3. Reboot to bootloader from device, or use adb command ( adb reboot bootloader). Once you in bootloader, make sure it's not on fastboot, get back to bootloader, and it will detects the PG88IMG by itself, and confirmation for update will be shown, just press the vol up button to flash it. It's easy, but this PG88IMG is big, so it will take like 5 minutes to load.
4. Reboot.
5. wait untill it finish starting up, you may skip the first time setup or complete it.
6. Delete PG88IMG from your sd card.
6. Now it is time to flash recovery image as you dont have recovery yet.
7. reboot device into fastboot usb
8. in the folder adb, there's flash_recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-saga.bat , run it as it will flash cmw recovery image in your DS.
- if you have error such as multiple device detected or what so ever, open up adb shell and run adb kill-server .
9. Reboot into recovery, full wipe
10. And flash miuiandroid_saga-2.8.3

I installed 2.3.3.0 and the factory reset still failed..?
errors given were E:unable to mount '/sdcard'
did you factory reset from bootloader if so you have corrupted your sd card there is a fix let me find it
I did this and this is what Xsmagical and I did to fix it.
Take the stock android recovery from a ruu or stock Rom. (I used the one from 1.85 ruu but it doesn't matter.)
Fastboot flash the stock recovery to your phone and then reboot into bootloader where you originally wiped.
Factory reset from hboot and then Fastboot flash twrp again, mount sd should be available now. Mount sd, copy whatever Rom onto sd card and flash from there.
Freaked me out too man
this is not my post copy and paste

You need to go ahead and format it and start over. Copy a ROM from pc to sd after format. Then flash the boot.img from fastboot, then flash the ROM zip in twrp. Use 2.3.3.0 of twrp, most telltale CNN least issues.

Start into recovery and wipe your SD card or do a factory reset in bootloader...
factory reset doesnt work either
You're probably going to have to flash a stock recovery then format. Then flash twrp again, and install your rom. Never factory reset from bootloader.

Hi,
I am new to rooting the device. I rooted HTC One X (AT&T) using toolkit by Hasoon2000. I followed all the steps as per my knowledge. Everything went good rooting the device, But when I tried to flash CM 10.1 it was giving me failure error. When I did second time it gave me same error but somehow I thought ROM got flashed and went ahead and flashed kernel. While doing so my cell phone battery was till 50% but once I flashed kernel. Suddenly screen went blank and couldn't turn it on. When try to go into fastboot mode it lights up red led and once and stays there until I hit the power button. After hitting power button it shows the HTC logo and displays the message below logo about device being used for development. then within a second screen gets turned off (no red LED) I tried to keep for charging for at least an hour or so with computer as well as on AC power but results are same. Neither I am able to connect it to computer or charge it. I don;t know what is going on with my device. So please can someone help me with this issue? I would really appreciate if this issue been resolved.

S-off allows you to ruu without bricking.
Yes. I am running android 4.3 cm 10.2 right now. There have been bricks reported though that issue should be fixed now.
Use an md5 checker program. Google md5 checker.

I have flashed openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.1-m7.img but when I want to go to recovery it is still sticking on that HTC logo screen, giving message in red and getting it off. I don't know what I can do to go in recovery and do the needful.
Could you also provide me link to instruction to install CM 10..2 with that as well?
Thanks

If you are able to boot into recovery, then you should be able to use the command <code> adb push <code>to copy any file from your current directory in computer to the sdcard

Wrong ROM. You have evita not endeavour.
Look before you download and flash wrong recovery and ROM because you are on track to brick your device. You have burnt 2 of your lives already.
You have no idea how lucky you are as your device should already be broken.

I think I have installed CM 10.1.2 for evita but now it is not rebooting into ROM. I am not able to reboot automatically. I have press and hold power and volume down key to go into fastboot. I am not getting what I am doing wrong now.

Ok. But listen to what Twisteddx said just before, take your time and make sure you're only flashing things meant for your device. He was right, you're EXTREMELY lucky you haven't bricked your phone yet. Only download ROMs from within this forum!

If you are s-on you need to extract the boot.img from the rom you're flashing and fastboot flash boot boot.img or it won't boot. With S-off this step is no longer required.

He won't boot if he wiped the OS.

Okay, so if I re-lock the bootloader, will I be able to go back to a stock rom, if I use an RUU for my phone? Or should I leave it unlocked and try to flash. S is on by the way.

I'd leave it unlocked. Boot into recovery, use adb push to copy a rom and flash away.
I'd leave it unlocked. You don't need to use adb push. Just mount usb in recovery and copy ROM across. Then flash the ROM.

If you're already S-OFF, easiest would be to RUU and never root your phone again.

Maybe you should just relock the bootloader and run the RUU.

What is with you and ADB? With no OS, you can't use ADB.
Extract the boot.img from the rom zip file and put it in your fastboot folder
Mount USB through recovery, copy the rom zip file to your SDcard
wipe cache, dalvik, system
flash rom
reboot to your bootloader/fastboot
plug in your phone
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
Should boot and work fine.

Ok, I flashed the rom, and now I can't touch the screen and have it respond. It's strange because the touch screen will work in Recovery.

I flashed cyanogenmod 10.1
Is it common to have the touch screen problems after flashing it?
Which version of cm10.1? The other builds aren't compatible with the latest touchscreen firmware. You can either downgrade your ts firmware, or flash the latest cm build.

You probably should have stuck to Cleanrom. All of this stuff is super basic and you're still managing to get it wrong.
