[Q] Help please with Android SDK Manager - General Questions and Answers

Hi All!
Well I am starting to get into app development for Android as well as other things as I progress through school. I downloaded and extracted the adt bundle from developer.android.com and am very confused. I know that every android device out there is not ready or capable to be running Android 4.2.2 as case in point my Galaxy Note 2 running 4.1.1. How do I download and access those other versions of the Android SDK then because I want my apps to be able to be ran on multiple devices. Please if you can offer me some assistance I would gladly appreciate it.

correct me if im wrong, but when you are choosing details about the application you can set the minimum software which is compatible and the highest? So set 2.2 and 4.2? then it covers all versions.. unless I've misunderstood your question

you can open android sdk manager. and you select all version sdk and download the sdk and install it.

[Q] how to run android 3.0 honycomb img in virtualbox??

Hi guys!
I just got the android 3.0 honycomb img!
but it seems like virtualbox can not run the file ...
anyone know why and how to do that?
You need the sdk and android emulator. May help you to do a search in google for android sdk and then go and get yourself eclipse.
Also, if you do look hard enough there are images available that you can use in virtualbox. Try using google mate you will soon find what your looking for.
hehe
but I've already did that for a few hours...
can't you just plis find a link to me?

You can use anything.
The one which is provided by Google is a complete package, where you don't have to setup the build environment like setting up ADT plugin etc. The IDE would be ready for application development I guess.
When you download Eclipse Classic (Latest version is 4.2.2 I guess) from their website (eclipse.org), you need to download the ADT plugin additionally within the IDE and download the developer tools and then have to connect it with Android SDK. The complete steps to install are there in the developer website, so its pretty much easy the either way.

I don't really understand the vocabulary you used. (Sorry, I'm new to Android development) Is there a place where I can learn all these terms and what they do? I understand SDK though.

You just start by reading from here, and you are good to go:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
If you already have downloaded SDK, go to this website and download the Eclipse 4.2.2 Classic IDE. And go to Youtube and search videos for "How to connect eclipse with android sdk". There should be a couple.
If you don't have anything, download the SDK+ADT Bundle for Windows displayed in Android developer website (The link which I gave you first) and read the instructions and you'll be good.
It's really not matter. I think the only different is the latest version in Google Dev that you can find is well packaged and you don't need to set up most of the environment stuff.

Yes, that's right.
It comes with Eclipse + Android SDK + ADT Plugin (Developer Tools) + Latest Android Platform (4.2.2 maybe) + System Image for Emulator
So you don't have to download the Android Platform and build tools additionally after getting the SDK, as everything would come in a single package.

Exlipse SDK plug-in

Android Development Tools (22.3.0.v201310242005-887826) requires plug-in "org.eclipse.core.runtime (3.6.0)", or later version.
What can I do to not get that error? what should I download?
Anyone? I thought these forums were supposed to help us :/

Help to install Tized Studio

Hi at all,
I have not found anything about this in this forum or Over.
I'm trying to install last version of Tizen studio to learn programming my new Gear S3 Frontier.
I follow the prerequisite published in the Tizen web site, but the installation fails due to java sdk.
My OS is Windows 10 64bit and I tried various version of JDK the last (11) and the previous (8.204) but when installer start a Message say that JDK 32bit is installed and that jdk 64bit version 8 or 9 is necessary.
Which version of jdk do I have to install?
Could someone post the link to the correct version?
I also tried to install Open SDK as the prerequisite says, but with no success.

You checked this Forum?
Best Regards
Yes, of course, but I saw nothing there...
Do you think I have to post my issue there?
I have limited time at the moment...
I can only remember this is not only in Tizen Studio 3.1...
So it is more then 1 time asked...
Not expect faster answer in Tizen Forum...
But you can create Thread...
Best Regards
