Hi guys!
Here's the case, last week my phone kind of broke, the lower part of the screen doesnt work, like just an inch at the bottom. I´m searching for a ROM that will work without having to use the lower part of the screen, because now I re-installed viperx but I cant set my phone up, because you have to press next to continue, which is at the bottom.
Hope you understand what I mean, havent got the greatest of english.
Best Regards,
I believe all Roms will have the same problem. I have flashed 7 Roms in the last 2 weeks, both sense and non-sense, and they all have the same initial setup screen.

i think miui rom work for you , i think ...
You can rotate your phone to the right, that will bring your arrows to the side of the screen during setup

Flash a CyanogenMod Rom without flashing Gapps. Gapps contains the setup process so if you don't flash you wont need to go through this step. You can always install all the apps separately
Hope this helps
I suggest aokp without gapps then enable the navigation bar or use pie

Hi all, new to this. Was just wondering if anyone else is getting the same problems as me with HTC Touch HD and the Opera browser?
Basically after using for maybe 5 mins Opera either hangs or just shuts itself down, even losing favourites this morning! Have tried hard reset and still get the same problems. Have also installed the HTC update which improved response times. The idea of using Opera is very nice but completely unusable for me at the moment. Will stick IE for the time being, and hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction to solve this issue? Any help would be much appreciated )
All problem found for TouchHD about OPERA was only this:

so, are you using a custom ROM now?
- Then please post this question in the apropriate ROM thread
are you using an original ROM now?
- Then what apps have you installed?
- Try reflash
Hope this help,.
I've never had this kind of trouble at all. As asked above, what ROM and apps have you got?
Hi sorry for the late response, out all day. I am using the original rom that came with the phone, only had it a week. It does this even after a complete hard reset without any additional apps having been installed. Will probably have to hard spl but didn't want to so quickly, and would like to try to get to the bottom of this in case it happens to others. Tx LEWY.

You could try and contact HTC directly. If that gives nothing, a new ROM is in order!
Problem solved. Hard spl, flashed new radio, now using black pearl rom v.1.2. Opera now works as it was meant to.

Congratulations then,.
As the title suggests, I have a Nexus S i9023 (no root, perfectly clean) and the major problem is that i've upgrade the phone to ICS manually and now there are some things that don't work (recovery, light sensor, etc.). I know that there are a lot of threads like this, i know that the problem of the recovery is a problem of brightness, but i wanna know which ROM i've to flash. I'm using the build IML74K.
Another problem is that sometimes the keyboard freezes. Is it caused by the wrong build?
Which rom did you flash?
Try lastest version of ics
I'm using ICS 4.0.3, build IML74K, flashed manually.

I am using the same on my i9023 with no issues, only difference is I am rooted and have clockwork recovery. I suggest a re flash.
I'll try to re-flash the same ROM. If it won't work i'll root the phone and i'll flash CM9.
Anyway, how can i solve the problem of the keyboard? I don't think it's a problem of the build.
I've flashed the ROM for Nexus S i9023 two times but the problems still remain. Any suggestion?

Only thing I can suggest is installing clockwork recovery, rooting etc and flashing another rom to see if the problem persists, if so then it probably a hardware issue.
Also where did you get the rom your flashing? There is a thread in the general section with the full rom package I used. Its on the first page at the mo.
Ok maybe there's no solution (i'm new in this forum so i can't post link as the one below):
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23065&can=1&q=ics%20nexus%20s%20i9023%20recovery&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars
So I think it will be fixed in the next release. I ask confirmation if someone knows something.

Yeah that's the one, flash the full rom package. You may just have a corrupt .zip.
Alredy done two times, but the problem remains. Mmmh i don't think it's a corruption problem, i mean, i've tried to put the update in the phone from two PC.

Recovery: Known problem. Backlight stays off. Nothing you can do without unlocking your bootloader or rooting. Angle + lamp will show you what is on the screen.
Light Sensor: It's still buggy. With the phone locked, cover your hand over the light sensor (left of the ear piece while facing the phone). Hand still covering, unlock the phone. After a few seconds, remove your hand and face it under a light source. What i've noticed is it'll get brighter initially but refuse to darken again. Of course, you need to have Automatic brightness adjustment (just in case it isn't set to auto).
Unsure about your keyboard problem though, but it does like to stay open for longer than i'd like after going back to the home screen.

Yeah, it remains open also after going back to the home screen, and it doesn't work. The only way is to crash it by going to the setting of the keyboard in the notifications.

Mine doesn't remain open though,. It just stays for say half a second, then animates away. Would be much more perfected if it went away while animating the previous window away, not a second later. I've not experienced the keyboard causing those kind of problems.
Might be wise to try SwiftKey or some other kind of keyboard alternative? That is easily enough to sway me away from stock.

I agree. I'll wait for an Experimental Mod of CM9, then i'll root the phone.
Ok i'll make the thread as solved. I want to thanks Harbb for his help, i quote his post for those who will read this thread.

If you have problems (like the recovery one and the light sensor) with ICS 4.0.3, build IML74K, on your Nexus S i9023 there's nothing you can do, probably Google will fix it on his next update 4.0.5.
I'll just add that many custom ROMs allow light sensor manipulation. I hear there are great, working settings, its just the stock calibration that sucks. I've not tried this myself, but should be available in cm9, cna, etc.

Since a day or three i'm having this very weird problem with my touchscreen, I'll try describing it as good as possible:
- Half the time it works perfectly and very smooth
- Then suddenly it gets difficult to slide/drag on the screen and it seems the touchscreen "automaticly" trys to start tapping the lower right search button/icon/softkey. Followed by of course the searchfunction popping up.
- Sometimes it even goes beserk without touching the phone at all (keeps hitting the search button).
- If i then lock my screen and unlock it, it sometimes working perfectly well for a moment.
- Also noticed when it's occuring and I try pushing the hard case just below the touchscreen it also acts up ....
Okay, so I hope i described it ok, it's al so random at the moment. I'll report more if I can.
Rom i'm using: the latest cyanogenmod9 (did full wipe etc, still same problem and no-one else reporting on the same issue).
The problem also occured in Clockworkmod recovery!!!
*edit:
Quick side-note question, I have htcdev unlock and using custom roms. Can I get my phone back to full standard/stock so I can send in my phone for warrenty? Or is my warrenty already lost by using htcdev unlock etc? What are the best steps to get full stock again? (so no htc dev unlock, no root, no clockwork recovery etc ...)
after some reading and testing it turns out to be hardware related. this thread may close, looking for some help reverting back to stockrom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595539

Try this, I found it on another forum:
This is from Lignja (earlier comment):
if you have touchscrean and swipe problems on your sensation, download SGS touchscreen booster from market, install it, press on super optimized, and pull first 3 collums on end left, and 2 last on end right, then press apply... your sensation will worke like a charm, you wont have any swipe problems or locking ring... then you can test it and turn back ond defult or uninstal that application and it will still work... hope it helps you like it helped to me... soz for bad english..
hi, i am new to this forum, i have an HTC Desire S that is rooted and has the Endymion V3.5 installed on it, i dropped this phone in water a while ago and for a while everything worked fine, now the navigation keys under the screen are inoperable, so i have to restart the phone before anything will work, is there any possibility of navigation keys being on the screen, like in ICS? I tried the oneV port on this phone and it worked perfectly.... until i wanted to go to another app, which i couldn't do! anything will do, just want it working fully again!
Daniel
hey, there is 1 rom i have tried that has the keys on the screen, im just trying to find it at the moment
Hi,sorry I can't find it anymore but what you can do is take it to a shop and get them to fix in a new post,I think it would be the screen and digitizer, hope it helps

You can enable navigation bar on every AOKP ROM. There are several ports here already as well as one build from source (my sig). But I agree that your best option is to repair your device. Good luck

Hi there, I hope you guys can help me out on this.
I just got my HOS a few days ago and it was all good.
Rooted it after 1 day, everything was fine.. at first.
Played a few games, installed themes and so on. After a few hours, my HOS began to vibrate out of nowhere and apps started here and there, menu opens on its own and all that stuff. It was out of control xD
I then saw that theres an update available. Flashed stock recovery and unrooted it. Afterwards, I installed 1.78. Still unrooted, downloading most of my Apps again, works flawless. Gaming(specially Temple Run xD) is smooth.
Yesterday, I decided to root it again. At first no problems at all.
Just now on the train, playing Temple Run again, my HOS started going crazy, vibrating all the time as if it is pressing buttons on its own and I see the phone doing all kinda stuff(opening new apps, browsing thru home screen etc xD).
Has anyone else expierenced something similar? I have no idea where its coming from and it really annoys the hell out of me.
Right now I'm on TrickDroid v3.1 (wiped system/data/dalvik/cache before flashing)
Kernel: 3.0.8-01136-g9d2ad32
Baseband: 0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L
Build: 1.70.666.1 CL52668
That really is strange !!! Its as if root contains some sort of poltergeist
I would have imagined a factory reset would have cleared it up, But in your case it didnt....
Have you tried an alternative rooting method ?
Nope, I did not. Always used the All-In-One Toolkit, except for when I flashed Trickdroid, since it comes rooted.
Is it ok if I unroot the HOS with Rootkeeper(is this just temp. unroot?) and then root it again with Superboot?
Unbranded HOS bought in Germany, if that matters. Also, no other recovery works for me except Intermin, CWM just won't boot for me.
that is weird...
Unlocking the bootloader was successful right ?
I dont understand why your phone is rejecting software lol.. Oh and I didnt know root keeper can unroot ive never used it..
how i got root was by flashing paul obriens recovery and then the root package zip file.. I did this on day one and have never had any issues at all.. Ive tested every single ROM and every single recovery lol..
Make a nandroid in recovery and just test out different methods and try get this issue fixed. If you have any issues just restore the nandroid..
Check your phone for remote access apps, maybe you got hacked. Most of those require root to function. Also check your google account for which IPs logged in and check the password recovery options for weird emailadresses and phonenumbers...
Ars has a writeup on hardening your android device, not very technical but some good stuff there. http://arstechnica.com/security/201...-smartphone-against-stalkers-android-edition/
Forget whatever i wrote.
My HOS registers my thumb, even tho I'm not touching it at all. If I'm like 5mm away from the screen, it registers it as if I'd touched it. My gf also has a HOS and it acts only if I touch the screen.
I also noticed that the hotter my HOS gets, the distance increases at which it recognized my "touch".
The distant screen touch has happened on my uprooted tmo us HOS. I've also experienced some craziness out of the device. I've kept it stock, no unrooting/rooting going on.
I was thinking an exchange with HTC cause I also have excessive battery drain and wavy lines in the screen but now I also have an awesome cracked screen too :-\
