920 & 925 .dll - LG Optimus 3D

I never really paid any attention to it but I lost all my files when I formated my computer last night; is there any difference between flashing with the LGP920.dll or the LGP925.dll file when flashing? Just not gonna hunt down a P925 if they do the exact same thing.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium

Big difference. In fact each of the DLL contains modem sign-in keys for to allow the modem firmware (CP) update. However Android OS (AP) image doesn't matter for those keys - whichever just simply serves to provide the partition information. But, KDZ already contain the DLL inside anyhow. So if you are updating the baseband, use the DLL as indicated by the model ID on IMEI / FCC ID sticker under battery. Even the tool won't update the modem baseband with KDZ containing wrong DLL. I found out the hard way.

Thanks man That makes since. Well I wonder what's been going on in my phone because I have never had luck flashing kdz's. I had gotten ahold of a shttp (cant remember exact name. It was the lil file that blocks LG servers) that decimated my network; thus why I formatted my cpu last night. Anyways I use LGExtract to turn Kdzs into bin and fls files. I literally just flashed P925_V30B_00_CP.flsbase and with LGP920_11062.dll......Reason being cause I flashed back my bigpartion 28B. It didn't block me so any clue of there being something wrong that I can't see?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium

Well, if that works, that's fine but CyanogenMod is rather fussy; it can actually read the modem firmware ID, as you can see in the attached picture - I had to flash V21D baseband into my phone so I can have Internet on CM10 ROM. You can check it out with Getril - if unsure, you can take screenshot (power + home or power + volume down - the snapshot's in /pictures/screenshots but save the picture as JPEG first so you can post it here).
Also, about LG flash tool, if you used wrong DLL, the utility will simply hang, whichever it just refuse to flash the updated baseband firmware.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA

Yeah I just use flash tool 1.1 it flashes base and to 27% on ics basebands and then of course fails but says download success
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium

25-27% is enough to guarantee successful modem firmware update. The reason the LG flash tool failed is because it was looking for Android image AP bin, just disregard this one. I have done the same thing - just CP fls file. V30B - that's a successful flash, as you flashed V30B baseband.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA

Cool I thought so but thanks for the re assurance  I still find it odd myself that i unpackaged the wdb file with a p925 .dll bit turned around and flashed it with a p920. I honestly thought it would throw me a warning at me. Oh well thanks mate.

There a thing i don't understand i wanted to flash p920 v30a ics downloaded from lg server and having only kdz i've extracted it with lg extract to flash with lg flashtool and so i wanted use the LGP920.dll extracted from it since seems to be more recent (version 1.0.0.5) but when i have opened it in lg flashtool it says SU660 dll and i couldn't start flash. Why this while it come from the true p920 rom?? it's strange, isn't it?

Well, I tried flashing P920 KDZ onto my LG Thrill 4G - of course, it installed just fine BUT the modem firmware remained the same all through the entire episodes only to be eventually noticed in CM10 - it wasn't flashed with P920 modem firmware but rather the same Froyo baseband, P925-V10B. It was eventually traced back to the type of DLL used due to modem sign-in keys.
So try the DLL specifically made for the phone and then flash the extracted AP and CP binary files with LG Flash tool, it will work this time.
P.S. Be careful - only three models of firmware is supported via any of those phones; P920, P925 and SU760. And if the KDZ is for P920, replace the SU660 DLL with P92x DLL. I have come across that mysterious DLL once.

OTA Round 2! Someone please save the .zip file this time around

Looks like T-Mobile is doing the GB OTA again. Just wondering if anyone gets it, will you save it before you install it?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It's the same as before, nothing new to see here.
Yes but it would give a very easy way for anyone in the future to upgrade the baseband if we had the official zip file. Nobody saved it last time around so I'm just throwing it out there in case someone gets it and can save it.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
You could ways flash froyo and wait patiently
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
It might not be that easy like on a Nexus One where they is a zip file in the cache directory. I had an LG Phoenix (Optimus One variant) that got an OTA update. There was no zip file in the cache directory. LG seems to create an FOTA directory somewhere and places various FOTA files around the system. I could not find the main file with the bulk of the OTA update. Also, when it rebooted to perform the update it went into a mode similar to Software Download mode where it performed an AP and CP update at a very low level. If this is the case whatever we can get from this OTA won't be of any help.

My thinking is that at the very least if there is an update.zip then anyone who still wants to upgrade their baseband could just install that and then reflash clockworkmod and restore to their favorite rom.

Yes, if there is an update.zip type file this would be true. But based on recent experience with another LG phone it wasn't that simple and I gave up looking for all the files. On the two Nexus Ones when I owned them, they simply had an update.zip (another name with build, checksum, etc in file name.zip) that could be put back on the phone and be flashed in regular recovery, provided that the phone had stock, unmodified firmware from one of the the previous two updates.

You cannot get the OTA with an unknown baseband as it reads the baseband to do the OTA. And since OTA means Over the Air if you have no signal you cannot get it OTA. Use the KDZ method (search the forums for it).

Help, Lg P925G, In Need Of Baseband, RIL And Imei Recover

Hello!
I have recently updated my LG P925G to the cm-10-20130303-NIGHTLY-p920 and I am now in need of flashing the right Baseband for my phone as well as a matching RIL which I can't find, GetRIL is unable to find the right one and I've had tried flashing some Basebands I've found for the P920, however these never change the actual Baseband listed by the phone.
I also need to recover my IMEI.
Bottom line, Baseband, matching RIL and IMEI Recover.
I have been trying to find proper files and guides, however I cannot seem to find something that actually works, I do not know if it's because I'm using P920 stuff due to lack of actual P925 resources.
PS: My phone is a canadian Rogers LG, which I actually unblocked back when the normal stock was running, I now live in Mexico and I'm looking to use a carrier called Telcel, I was wondering if adding the LatAm Baseband that work or if it's better to put the original Baseband and stuff, and just unblock the phone again.

Hi,
The best thing for you will be start afresh after thorough reading. When you flash a baseband, it does not show in settings-> about phone. the actual basenband will be shown by GETRIL.
Please restore to stock by using the link

It looks to me as though your phone is on froyo. Before you can flash cm10 you need to first be on gingerbread and must flash "bernies files" to successfully flash cm10.
Of course i see v10c and i think thats froyo bb.

Well before following the before mentioned guide to unbrick my phone I did upgrade my phone from the 2.2 to 2.3, it was all normal then and after reading that it couldn't be updated any further I upgraded it into the trending 4.0.4 on this forums, I had something corrupted so it bricked, after unbricking and having the ROM used on the files I tried using the normal LG Recovery Phone to go back to the ACTUAL stock Rom that I can't find anywhere, but the software always stops mid-way, sometimes it mentions that it can't verify some of the phone's data, some other times just stops forever, so I haven't been able to go to 2.3 now as I can't find the files and LG won't work.
I'm afraid I am unaware of what the Bernies are
Ok. In these forums there is a guide by "xbsall" . Try this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836

Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Thanks but, that guide was given to me already on this post, and as I mentioned it didn't work, as well as the other one you mentioned, it DID work to unbrick my phone but not to fix Basebands
You may want to check out acidhazardrom.com. you may be able to use his flashing tool to re upgrade back to stock gb. Sorry if this is no help. He also has some other tools.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
OK, I think your first problem is lost IMEI. You need to restore it. XBSA resurrection guide is good place to start.
Then you need baseband. You can't get proper baseband using GetRIL, you use this app only to check what bb you have.
I have 925g and I'm in Canada. The only bb that gives me WCDMA850 and WCDMA1900 is v20A. Flash it with LG Flash tool. It will fail after 80 sec but it's fine.
Just check what frequencies your carrier uses.
Good luck!

[Q] Can someone PLEASE explain...

I`m on gingerbread now and i want to use smartflash tool to flash ICS and vice versa! installed lg drivers, installed OMAP drivers and everything needed. How come that every time i come across smartflash procedure, it only says flash .bin file and that`s it. Sort of! Why not .fls file too? It is baseband, right? So i`ts important. ICS is different partition and bootloader and i just don`t think that flashing .bin file is enough. And also, is it a problem that on smartflash says P990 in phone model and can`t be changed?? I had P990 before this phone and smartflash is not unknown to me. I know how to use it but i`m just very confused about p920 and smartflash combo!

I must disagree! ) Smartflash is way easier, only if i could figure it out how to use it with this model or someone who already flashed 3D with smartflash to explain a bit how to! Nonetheless I use win 7 x64 and most procedures are for XP, and those few that work in win7 are way complicated for my degree of expertise! I used to perform miracles with p990 but this one is with no reason far more complicated

I used to think this stuff was hard until I asked around and got help. It's a piece of cake flashing KDZ's. Windows 7 procedures are almost identical to the XP procedures. The only difference is that you have to go directly to the Device Manager to install OMAP drivers rather than getting a pop-up and installing it from there. The hassle is Windows 8, that took me a few hours to figure out because it checks driver signatures.
From what I read, .bin file INCLUDES .fls file. So flashing bin will give you new baseband.
You can check your current baseband with app GetRIL (use it only for checking!).
Flashing fls is needed only when you mismatch ROM and baseband - in Canada the best results are with v20c bb. So then that fls should be flashed after bin file.
Hope it helped

I see your point, but what i really want to know is, is there a difference between .bin for p920 and lets say .bin for p990!? Sounds weird, offcourse there`s difference , but i`m asking just because when i was flashing p990, it`s necessary to put both bin and fls to smartflash and then start it up!
For example, this is what comes out from unpacking v28b.kdz file for p920
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/8830/35283994.png
So there is fls file after all... And that is what confuses me the most! So.. what i really need is for someone who already flashed this phone with smartflash to give me step by step instructions, with no exceptions from ABC~Z. I would really be grateful besause i don`t want to install XP every time new SW comes out.

So, did you try flashing 920 bin file with LG SmartFlash?
I did it on Win7 x64, no XP needed
Did you check drastic00 guide? It simple once you do it couple times
It's really hard to give EXACT step by step instructions since nobody kbows what you already have on your PC (driver wise
So every guide starts with: uninstall ALL LG related drivers...
Please read the guide THREE times (I learned it loong time ago).
Then ask questions, if needed.
Good luck!
PS. I've never dealt with P990, sorry.

First bin, then restart and then fls! What`s the difference? And one more thing... In another video, guy also used smartflash but this time he was actually flashing p920 and he used something called windows enabler! What is that and is it necessary for process? Here`s video link...

Would this lock my phone to Rogers? Or would it remain unlocked? I'm curious because it doesn't work well in canada right now and I'm with telus. I have a p500 that locks onto the Mikes tower just south of where I live. The p920 doesn't do it as well. I'm on v21e Right now and need to change it. Thanks
I used to flash Gingerbread files with smartflash all the time, however it never flashed the baseband correctly for me so I would use LG flash tool to flash .fls files. That being said I have only flashed V28B and V30B files with LG flash tool because I thought I read somewhere that smartflash wouldn't work...maybe because it doesn't do the baseband correctly and the baseband for ICS is included in the bin file. Either way flashtool and smartflash were easiest for me, I find it much harder personally to do the KDZ method. I did something way wrong in the early days of the KDZ flash method that had some shttp server file that completely crippled my internet and I've never got my cpu to connect since. I use to just extract and merge the bin and fls files from my KDZs with LG Extract lol.

I'm not 100% sure but I think xbsa ROM is carrier unlocked, but I can't test it...
In Canada baseand v20c gives good results. Also with latest ROM based on v28b I use v30b baseband.
Try couple of them.
Test each band:

Good luck
however it never flashed the baseband correctly for me

What exactly do u mean by this!? What happened and how did u noticed it?
edit:/ Just flashed v30A with smartflash and i used windows enabler (what ever it is for), and the weirdest thing is that after restart, all my applications and settings remained unchanged and only thing that is different is software information in settings! Oh, and camera shutter sound OFF is gone too. That sucks! I used to flash p990 with smartflash and every time phone goes back to factory state after restart because it is flashed again, right!! But now it`s just like i updated it via LG Support Tool. Just updated. Don`t really understand! I used both bin and fls files in process.

LG P920 Reboot problem.

Hi, this is my first post on this forum so I hope that I post this in the right place.
My problem is that my phone keeps rebooting when I use ICS and I can't use any Rom under ICS, not even official, it just shows the LG logo for 1 second and turns off.
When I use ICS rom then I can use the phone but it uses to freeze and reboot very often. Sometimes every 10 seconds and sometimes I can use my phone for 5 minutes and then it reboots.
Also, sometimes after reboot it will show me a black screen that says the kernel crashed.
I don't know what is wrong... Only ice cream sandwich works and still with these annoying reboots. Also after reboot the screen will look broken (green and green pixels all over screen) and then it gets normal.
Please help me, I've been trying to fix my phone for some months now... I'm bout to throw it in the wall soon :banghead:
Tell me if you need any more info.
Also want to add that it is impossible to root my LG O3D.. The only way was to find a ics Rom with root. I tried JellyBam but couldn't turn on.
Please give some advice what I can do, thanks in advance.

Sounds maybe like unstable system from bad flash, possibly from incomplete driver install. This way works for me

Okay thanks for your reply, I will try that when I wake up zZzzZ
Edit: Followed every step, after installing the Rom from TWRP and rebooting system, then I got stuck at LG logo.
Maybe I need to do something with the kernel? Maybe I somehow installed wrong kernel without knowing it? I used XBSA V8 normal partition size. My computer is win7, using winrar, if that could help somehow.
Anyways thanks for your suggestion but I think my p920 belongs in the trash now :/

Glad someone knows what is the problem.
Yes I did hard reset it.
And I have already tried following that unbtick tutorial and it's the same, keeps rebooting when it wants.

Hardware failure is rare but possible. I still suspect driver issue or a corrupt download from antivirus. But who knows? Hard drives and flash drives fail. The fact it boots at all says to me corrupt system and bad flash or like GrMo said corrupt partitions.

i am do LG Flash Tool and Choose one official LG v28b ICS file (.bin and .fls files included) with root and custom recovery (Do not mirror these links):from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819
but and screen LG Flash Tool partition size 0 KBbytes
Recheck step 1. It is the most critical to have correct. Check all details carefully.
You must uninstall all leftover LG software from previous update attempt and reboot pc before starting with driver install or there will be software conflicts.

my phone LG with os 2.3 and i am upgrade to ics with LG Tool V30A.kdz and success but..why this Internal Storage no detect and notification on status bar blank sdcard......and i am LG flash Tool again with V21 ginger...success...but this problem same...blank sdcard.....
ah ok i understand. Use the LG-FlashTool with bin and fls binarys and the correct ddl for your phone. The Tool will partition your SDcard correctly. You say that you used a offical ROM with ROOT ? No official ROm has root =) Dowload your rom here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=2 and unzip it with LG binextractor. Flash this via Lg FlashTool.
