[Q] music, and gallery says empty - HTC Sensation

In my music and gallery app, they both say no media found. I have already searched the rescan apps on the playstore, and tried them all but none of them fix the problem. So what do i do here?

Hi,
Greetings
Open your sdcard from pc/phone explorer and search if their is a file called ".nomedia" in music and galary folder if yes then delet that file and restart your phone. music and galary will be back
If not try to backup your sdcard and format it from phone and try again

Hi

If you searched from phone explorer you will have enable hidden files to search for".nomedia"

Hey, I had the same problem a week ago. What I did was download an app from the appstore called SDRescan. It's the perfect app for this kind of problem to be honest.

I've already mentioned on the first post that i have already tried that. Everyone says it fixes the problem but they lied because it didn't fix mine.

Try to reboot your device
Try to reboot your device and see what happens. I encounter the same problem and decided to reboot. Doing that solves my problem.

No matter what i do nothing fixes this ****ty problem. So i just formatted everything including sdcard and reinstalled rom.

I have a similar problem, the photos that I upload to outlook, facebook.... now appears duplicated in gallery, when physically not.
I've tried clean /cache, dalvik cache, re-mount sdcard, reboot phone.. but these methods has no effect
I'll try to make a backup of dcim photos in another folder, reboot, then put again the photos.
PD: also I tried to delete the famous .nomedia file, but I don't founded it!

USB Storage not detecting media

As per the title, files on my sd card are not showing up in media apps such as music and gallery, though they are still present in the sd card.
Not a rom problem as i just wiped and flashed rom again. And .nomedia is not present on my sd card.
Any ideas?
What's happening when you select these files manually with a file explorer and choose to open with music player (or gallery)?
Maybe the player does recognize them if you do so

Happened to me the other day... Fixed by going to applications - manage applications- media storage. if you clear data and reboot the phone it should re build the media library!

yeah i used to have the same issue
and ive found the solution too
you need to delete the com.<titaniumbackup>.odex file from /data/app
(go to /data/app using any file explorer like ES Fileexplorer)
then install titanium backup again...it'll mostly work

deleting the titanium odex file from system should help u. Do it with a root explorer or similar app not with es explorer. If you have l.patcher uninstall it.

check the following location for orphaned apk/odex/leftover files from the app you trying to install:
/cache/download
/data/app
/data/data

I posted this on a similar thread a while back...
None of the above solutions worked for me. I had to go and free up a gig of internal space... yes, internal space not sd card space.. so I could install and update large apps. When I was getting the insufficient space error I had..
800+ megs internal space
3.51 gigs on internal sd card
1.75 gigs on external sd
I tried remounting installing app and remounting, clearing play store cache, uninstalling market updates, and wiping davlik cache with no results.
So basically free up a buttload of internal space to get rid of the "insufficient space" error code from Google Play.
Hope this helps somebody from pulling their hair out like I did... wait, I dont have any hair
Happened to me a while ago (on sensation) backed up my rom in recovery.
Factory reset my phone and reflashed rom and problem was gone.
(if you have your apps backed up with play store then they should automatically redownload when you sign in
One Step fix
After reading multiple sites and many threads, I only did one thing to solve the problem.
Use root explorer and go to 'data\app\'.
Then find and delete the file 'com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup-1.odex'
After this, Titanium Backup will install just fine.

Ok, just today my pictures + videos stopped showing up in MX Player or Gallery. My music shows up after an extensive scan from Poweramp (87 seconds when it normally only takes 10-20 seconds) I can also access storage via a file browsing app with no problems. I've already tried fixing permissions to no avail. Any idea what could be happening? Help?

I deleted the .nomedia file but google music still doesn't see the 5gb of music on my phone when i check the box that says on device only. It gives the me message saying to see my full library to uncheck on device only. I'm running the 8/2 build of JB with the built in kernel on my NS4G.

Did you guys update rom manager? If you're stock, I don't believe there's anything you can do (nothing I've heard of anyway) If you're running a custom ROM, try reflashing the ROM and gapps and they should show up. (Read in another thread that it worked) Rom manager really screwed us over.

del ".nomedia" at the root path of sdcard, and then reboot. the media service will scan you sdcard, after a few minute you will find you media files again.

What I did:
Update Rom Manager -- delete any .nomedia files from your sd card -- clear cache/data on gallery/music/etc -- clear data on media storage --wipe cache/dalvik -- reboot Flashing won't get rid of the .nomedia files on SD
Maybe some unnecessary steps but worked
Found another instance of the .nomedia file. Found it by going in the Android folder then into the Data folder. Deleted it, cleared cash in gallery and music, rebooted into recovery, wiped dalvik then rebooted phone. It now sees my music with the on device only box checked.

backup all your stuff from sdcard to the pc
then from recovery it has an option to format the sdcard or see also from settings if you can format it from there
otherwise if you have a card reader put it there
and format it via pc

hey buddy, i think this mate does not know how to enter recovery mode according to his question about formatting it.
see pal, plug the memory stick to ur computer then copy everything in it to ur compuer (i mean whatever u need) then right-click on your memory card's drive, then tap "format" then click "start" on the newly opened window and wait til it gets finished. then put ur stuffs in the drive again plus the mhsics u want. then put the card back into ur cell phone and wait til the phone prepares the sd card.
i recommend u to shut down ur phone then turn it on again.
hope i helped.

Hey! Just to be sure. Which musicplayer do you use? If you use Google Play Music, I've had the same problem! I do not know how to fix it, but I just moved to another music player (Sony Walkman, which is tons better!). But if that doesn't help, try to remove every music file from your "Music" folder and add them again! The last thing I would do, is to re-format the SD-card! That would probably solve some other SD-card problems too, if you have!
Hope this gave you some information
Thanks Guys!
Ill try what you told me soon and will update you!

Music files not being detected by any music player:

Hello everyone
I bought a note 10.1 2 days back and am loving it except for a very weird problem ...
I downloaded two music files and they show up perfectly then I inserted my phone's sd card and transferred all my music to the internal memory.
Then the weird thing happened ... I rebooted it but none of the files show up in any music app except for Rocket Player ... I tried Many music players but none could find my music... it can be seen by the the manager and individual files can be played... but they dont appear in the music apps...
Ive tried apps like rescan media to force run the media scanner but no luck...
Please help as its driving me mad

No problem with mp3's.... Dumped on either internal or external storage with no problems.
If someone has put a .nomedia file in the folder with these files then they won't be read. Only thing I can think of as to why they're not being found....
I have all of them in internal memory in a Music folder and checked using the stock file manager es file explorer and also astro file manager to ensure no .nomedia files are present but it still wont work...

music players cannot access storage
I am having the identical issue, but clearing data/cache of media storage hasn't helped.
I have also put a memory card and moved the music to that, but has the same issue. I have tried the built-in music player and PlayerPro, both are the same. Both players have the option to navigate by folders, but folders are shown. Its as though the music players are unable to access the internal and external storage.
My device is not rooted, updated to latest software available 4.1.2

You could try using Rocket Player? That was the only app that worked when I had this issue...
Thanks, I've downloaded rocket player and is seems to work.
However I first noticed the issue after having a similar issue with a video fx app, as was unable to add music tracks, due to none of the storage folders being available to the app. So was hoping to find a fix.
