SUPPORT
You get none. Zero. Zip. I obligate myself to providing nothing further. You are on your own and will have to help each other via this thread. This is provided “as-is”, and if you don’t like it... there is always stock and CM.
Every custom modification to devices have risks. Flash this at your own risk!
Have fun and enjoy!
About CarbonROM
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
1.6 is a pretty big update for us! Check out the changelog on our goo.im page for more, but here are the highlights:
-We've fixed PIE! It no longer decides to be invisible from time to time.
-We fixed the battery charge light! None of us use it but apparently you guys are just nuts for it!
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
-Lockscreen theming
-CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
-3.4 kernel on D2xxx devices. It's finally stable enough where we're comfortable with this - remember to only flash other 3.4 kernels or it will not boot as there are rom-level dependencies.
-AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-NFC polling mode for when you want to keep your screen off and scan tags
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
-Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
-3rd party keyboard bug fixed
-deodexed again
-stability and speed enhancements
-a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.
Installation Process:

Folks..Its a fantastic ROM and very lighter compared to my previous stock ICS. I love it.. couple of issues I am facing on this ROM..
1. When I type any message or text, after typing the first letter, the keyboard dismisses itself back for few seconds and appear once I touch
the cursor couple of times.. It looks as if the the keyboard routine searches for suitable words after I type the first letter.. has anyone face this issue ?
2. Font display on emails / SMS is smudgy.. it was smooth font with ICS..
3. I had enabled password lock.. the password field gets overlapped by the keyboard.. Though not an issue, but it looks I am typing blindly without seeing the dots..
Are these common issues or I am the only one facing..pls let me know.

1) Known JB issue, just remove all ticks from Predictions in Setting of Keyboard
2) Just go to setting->Advance->Scenario->Change it to UI.
3) Dont know what are you asking.

Thanks Vikesh.. the 2nd issues is sorted out.. I am still trying to figure out all the settings related to keyboard..
Regarding 3rd issue, its more about the position of password field in the screen. The keyboard overlaps the password field and I have to count the
letters to type the correct password.. no visual effect to see the normal dots..Hope I am clear now.. -

ALL CREDITS GO TO PARANOID-ANDROID TEAM! I DO NOT CLAIM THIS TO BE MY OWN WORK, I JUST MADE IT WORK FOR THE DOUBLESHOT.

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine JellyBean to make it all a useful addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.

does anyone know the trick for making the secondary feature of the back button go away? in the pic, the down arrow is showing, as if I had the keyboard open with the option to minimize it. I have found that by going into my Wi-Fi connection and clicking on it, that the back icon is restored. however, once I lock the screen, it goes back to the secondary feature, the down button. I have tried changing settings, themes, I've shut the nav buttons off and rebooted, then restored, etc. nothing works.
Thanks for any help.

Ahhhh now I see. Are you nav buttons just set, what UI are you running? Mind giving me the settings your using so I can replicate it. Is it after a reboot before hardware KB is disabled
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
I'm running phone ui w/ nav buttons, is all. this has been set before I disable the hwkb, but I've tried it the other way. I've tried almost everything I can think of. hopefully you'll be able to see what the issue is, as I'm sure a a log cat wouldn't declare the issue, since there's technically nothing wrong.
EDIT: never mind. I didn't have the hwkb disabled. I knew I had it working once before. that fixed it, strapped.
by the way everyone, don't forget - angry birds star wars is out today!

Can you replicate it on the spot? I just set my nav buttons on but I'm on tabletUI ( which shouldnt matter ) and I'll see if I can replicate it. My first thought was because the KB issue we seem to be plagued with, but the only real way to tell would be fix the KB issue ( mattlowry has ideas ). Or just see if it will happen to me before the KB issue is resolved and depending on how and when it happens it could be narrowed down.
But I do have to ask, was a full wipe performed before flashing? And was anything restored with Titanium Backup?

Yepp. I've been wanting tabletUI since kitkat came out, then when PA said they won't be implementing it, I got mad but understood why. With more knowledge and experience I hope I can implement it myself sometime. Theres not much info about it, but I read that Google stripped the tabletUI code from kitkat , wondering if we can just put the code back , then again its not as simple as that because I believe there's a couple more files to mess with that deal with that code.

tabletui needed to die because it was segmenting devices even further. keep one system ui and let apps chose their own layouts either tablet or phone. look at the playstore it has list options for displaying optimized for tablet or all apps.
PA doesn't need tabletui because with PIE and HALO you don't need it.
PIE and HALO can be optimized for various phone or tablet sizes.
what is nice is that with expanded desktop you can hide access to default softkey and/or notifications per your preference and use PIE with or without HALO.
the ability to hide the softkeys is also solution to the horrendous back button found in softkeys, i find myself using the in-app back button more often with softkeys hidden.
Agreed . Although PIE and HALO do make a good impression for tablet users, I personally liked the tabletUI because of the combination of status and Nav bar together at the bottom , it just looked awesome and not like a big phone per say lol but I do agree with why it had to die .

I think I found a problem. I can't seem to install apps manually. The "install" button when you select an apk isn't working. It can't be the tablet itself because apps install just fine on cm 11.

I think it has something to do with apps overriding each other. I'll have an update by tonight which should fix it and other features as well!

install fails
For some reason, I cannot get this ROM to install. I am coming from CM 10.1 Table UI, and I have wiped everything except internal memory, 2-3 times, and the install of this ROM fails each time.
I am running TWRP V2.6.3.0.
Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am proud to present to you BeanStalk Builds put together by myself. This is a build composed off of the CM10.1 builds and i have added alot of features on top of it. So you get speed, stability, and ultra customization ability. Many of the additional code additions came from slim ROM and also Derteufels build and have been modified to work with my current setup. A huge thanks to Derteufel and the Slim ROM guys for their work and dedication. Also a big thanks to everyone involved with CM as that is the building stone in this project. Thanks to skyliner33v for the bootanimation and upcoming wallpapers!
I plan on updating this and adding features on a pretty regular basis, so if you happen to like this, keep checking back.

Yep, it's using the JBX KK kexec kernel so expect some tussle with battery life. It's not THAT bad though, it actually has good memory usage.

Noted and added to the bug list, but try fixing permissions in recovery to see if that helps. Also guys, don't attempt running ART as it causes bootloop.

We're unable to de-kexec roms above 4.2.2 due to the major file changes and higher kernel integration, so that makes it much harder to work without kexec.
I think I found a bug. After sending a MMS in Google Hangouts, it force closes, and whenever I try to open a thread, it continues to force close. Cleared hangouts data to fix this problem when it occurred.
Also, keyboard is unresponsive at times. For example, when I enter hangouts through ActiveDisplay, the keyboard pops up and i can press any button i want, but the letters are not inputted into the area i am trying to type to. Clearing the recent list seems to help so far.

thanks for the ROM.. just my personal thoughts..
First Impression : + quite stable, + lot of customization, + loving the active display (though A2 is not LED display like new MotoX which can be power saving ), + even like the Suspend Actions and Wakelock Blocker
Actual Impression: (yet to conclude.. mainly waiting for any non-compromising bugs and battery life)
Once again Thanks a lot !! :good:

Hello everybody!
OK! First of all, we all want to say (and hit the button) THANKS to TamsuiCM11 members and to vishal_android freak from CarbonRom Dev Team, who worked so hard in porting the last iteration of Android: KitKat! Without their effort, nothing of this could happen!
Our respect to you guys!!!
We are all excited with this! Our little tapioca now has Android 4.4.2! That's great! But, we all have to remember this has just begun... The ROM is in BETA stage, so we all have to be patient with some things that CarbonRom lacks or fails...
LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE ROM
About performance, it runs well, a little bit laggy sometimes with some transitions... but nothing important anyway. It's usable as a daily driver until now. You can receive and send SMS, use WhatsApp or other messenger app. You'll not be able to send MMS, and microphone is not working right now, so calls are out of the scene... System only restarted by itself just once in my case.
RECCOMENDATION!: If you don't know where to find GAPPS for this ROM, use this ones... I've used them, they gave me no problems (except that Set Up Wizzard problem... but it's not big deal! Read below on this post in LAYOUT PROBLEMS to find out how to deal with it! It's very easy!)
LINKS TO GAPPS HERE!!!
I TESTED PERFORMANCE WITH ANTUTU BENCHMARK. RESULTS:
In Stock firmware 4.22 without any change:
In CM10 from FXP:
Now, in KitKat, Using Dalvik Virtual Machine:
And now again in KitKat, but using ART runtime. It was better than expected, considering ART is experimental:
ATTENTION!: When you turn from Dalvik to ART, the device will restart and will take up to 20 or 25 minutes to optimize all the apps to work now on ART. So if you give it a try, dont get upset if your device takes a LOT OF TIME to boot! Remember that it has to "rebuild" everything related with the apps you have. Don't be afraid, you wont lose NO DATA! Dalvik is set by default, to change it to ART, go to Settings > Developer options > Runtime and select ART. (If you can't find Developer options, continue reading, I'll explain it below). And Xposed Installer may give problems when trying to enable ART. If you plan to install it, you'll only have to use Dalvik.
NOW, LETS TALK ABOUT BUGS IN THIS ROM:
* LED WORKS BAD ON STARTUP: When you turn on the phone the led tells you that the device is turning on. After the boot process ends, and meanwhile the screen is on, the led will continue on in red color.
* PARTIAL SOLUTION: Lock the phone and unlock it. Thats it!
* WAKE UP BUG: You will face this when you lock the phone. If you try to unlock the device, it wont wake up, I mean, the screen wont turn on. That is very annoying if you have new sms to read.
* PARTIAL SOLUTION: Set the brightness at 25% or 30%. If you put the brightness higher than that, you'll face the wake up bug!
* SOUND IS MISSING: Yes, remember that this ROM is in early BETA stage. So, if you expect to use the ROM to listen to music, or to use the alarm, maybe you'll have to consider back to stock or CM10. No sound will be played by the device.
* PARTIAL SOLUTION: Just wait meanwhile the devs work on it! It takes a lot to fix things like that.
* I WANNA TAKE PHOTOS BUT... camera doesn't work right now!
* PARTIAL SOLUTION: Wait again... If you download another camera app from Play Store it wont work either.
* THE KEYBOARD SUDDENLY STOPS WHEN YOU ARE WRITING AND YOU CAN'T CONTINUE WRITING: To see it again you need to close the app from multitasking screen.
*PARTIAL SOLUTION: The "swipe to write" function is giving trouble. Maybe when you were writing you slide your finger, that activated the "swipe to write" function, and that stopped the keyboard. Just disable that function, and you're done!
* SOME LAYOUT PROBLEMS: If you install Gapps, in the "Choose language" section, the setup wizzard will show the "next page" button beneath Emergency call button. That happens if you have the phone vertically.
* PARTIAL SOLUTION: But if you put the device in landscape mode, you'll be able to reach the Next page button and continue with the setup wizzard.
* OTHER PROBLEMS
* In the power menu, sometimes this happens:
The selector covers a little bit of the speaker icon. So that is up to the devs if they want to fix it, coz the buttons work propperly.
* Another thing that sometimes fails is the multitask message "No recent apps", sometimes it appears as corrupted text! I dont have a screenshot for it, but I mean this one:
* The menu on Settings > Carbon Fibers > Device tunables is empty, because all the options it brings in CarbonRom wont work on our tipo, so it's not a bug!
* If you turn on Airplane mode, after disabling it, phone process will unfortunately stop a couple of times... In my case, it stopped just twice, but if you get a lot of stops, you'll need to restart the device.
* The Extended desktop on power menu doesn't work.
* The ROM is locked on 32 fps only.
* For some people, to get the phone charging with the USB, enable USB as described below...
* Microphone during calls or trying to speak to Google Now doesn't works.
* For some reason, nobody was able to add widgets to lockscreen, we can't find the button!
* The Messages app doesn't bring a widget like the one in CM10, I miss that feature... :crying:
* Sometimes WiFi disconnects, displaying the "WiFi hotspot available" again. If you select your WiFi hotspot, you'll have to enter the password again.
* Hard Gaming is not possible. Games like Modern Combat will force close.
* Sometimes, the Recent apps screen is empty althought it should show the recent apps. This happens in ART runtime. You should reboot the device to get it to work.
SOME THINGS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT AND SOME TIPS:
* Where the ***** is Developer options menu?
I don't know why it is hidden but, we are nobody to question CM or Google to put this as a hidden menu. To find it:
Go to Settings > About phone and find the Build number text. And you have to do what you do to see the easter egg! Tap in Build number several times and you'll see a toast saying "Congratulations! You're now a developer!" or something like that. Go back and now in Settings you'll always find the Developer options menu when it was in other CM10 ROMs. DONE!
* How to connect the phone to a PC via USB?
As you can't use the camera, you can't either use Airdroid. So you want to connect the device with the USB, but it doesn't connect! OK! You have to do this:
Go to Settings > Storage then tap the options button and select USB computer connection. Then select Mass storage (UMS) to use as an USB disk. DONE!
* What happened with the transluscent status bar?
You install this ROM expecting to see the great KitKat UI but then you realize that the transluscent status bar is missing!
To get it:
Go to Settings > Performance and select Force high-end graphics, then reboot the device. DONE! You'll get this:
* I want a Nexus 5! How I enable the navigation bar?
It's just for fun, but you can enable it this way:
Go to Settings > Carbon fibers > Navigation bar and select, obviously, Enable navigation bar. You can also set dimensions and you can select if you want the nav bar down in landscape mode or if you want to see it at the right side.
CONCLUSION
We are in front of a great ROM! Great overall performance, neat & clean UI, no bloatware and good battery life. We are expecting to see how it evolves into a great KitKat ROM for our devices. Xperia J, E, Miro and tipo dual surely will get a piece of KitKat too! Just be patient!
So guys, report bugs so Devs can take a look!
Now, I say goodbye with my little Nexus 5 in my hands
CHEERS!!
:cyclops:
Who helped with the bug search?
* vishal_android freak
* abstrkt1337
* MarckozZ
I've found some bugs too
The ROM is locked to 32 FPS
And for making the device charging battery work. We need to apply the USB fix.

And thanks a lot for this thread.. It is explained very very nicely.. So a big thanks to the op..
Last thing, the device tunables option doesn't have anything supporting Tipo , so it is empty and not a bug..

I don't know too. But the ROM is stable. But some time it's really laggy because of the 32 FPS limitation. And we know vishal is working hard for fixing all these problem. So we have to be patient

This ROM was originally developed for Samsung Galaxy S2. I have successfully ported this ROM to Samsung Infuse with the help of CM 11.0 for Infuse 4G by scott.hart.bti.
I have been using this CyanFox Ported ROM on my Infuse for a while now, it is still working fine without any problems.

CREDITS
CyanFox team for developing this ROM Ofc.
And the most special thanks goes to scott.hart.bti for bringing CM 11 to Infuse 4G. Without the CM 11 ROM, I could not have ported this ROM. And without his help, we could have never received the KitKat update for our Infuses. Let's say that you guys MAYBE liked this ROM and MAYBE decided donate to the developer, than donate to Scott and CyanFox
I am not a developer or anything, I just understand this ROM concept a little so don't thank me or anything, all the thanks goes to them.

Wow, new ROM..............
Thanks a ton man......
you rocks..
Holy Unlikelyhood Batman.
Glad to see someone porting to the Infuse! Thanks so much to vinte007, scott.hart.bti, and the CyanFox team. Yeah, that's right, I'm thanking you even though you told me not to.
Downloading this now, can't wait to try it out :fingers-crossed:
Edit:
Just flashed the rom, running smoothly so far. Google Play services started updating as soon as I completed setup, at first it gave me a message that Google Play Services was not able to run on my device, but it seemed to figure itself out. This same thing has happened with other KK roms so it's not a big deal.
I'll make sure to let you know if I come across any bugs.
new ROM ^_^ gonna flash it and in a week or two i will give a detailed video review on this ROM of what works and what doesn't I'm rooting for this ROM ^_^

Yes it was made on January, I wrote on instructions that I've been using this ROM for a while. I made the Zip on January and been updating and fixing stuff till now (did not want to change the ZIP date because some apps are still not updated to last update). This ROM seems smooth and stable now, that is the reason I posted this ROM .
Thank you all for trying this ROM. I will keep on working on updates for this ROM. CyanFox team said that they are going to release their V3, I will try to port it too when it is released
And @bokonon9 Thanks :victory: let me know if you come across any other bugs.
very smooth rom! i realy like it....but....is there any way to insert russian letters in dialer?
UPD found one bug: change the battery icon style on icoon with percentage and after you turn the screen off and on the icon switch back to simple style

I don't know much about the Russian letters in the dialer, can you explain a little more about what you meant?
About the Percentage, It totally works fine with me. I used it with the percentage for some time, did not occur that problem. But, I will look into this and see what I come across with.
Till then can you try this:
Change back "Battery status style" to Icon Portrait or anything you want except "Icon with percentage" and then tick the "Show battery status perc.." tick box and see?
I appreciate to see another dev...
Is there a benefit to this ROM? I keep trying ones and going back to cm... I guess what I'm asking is what is different?
Thanks for a new option

I'll try this ROM. Hopefully, I get decent standby time. How much are you guys getting? With Beanstalk, the phone is dead from 100 within a couple of hours without use.

I mean, I choose Russian as main language of the OS, and when I open the dialer I saw only english letters on number buttons, so, I can't apply quick search in phone book, because all contacts are written on my native language.

If your battery is going down this fast, look to see what is using so much power.
You should be able to reboot in to recovery, clear cache and dalvik cache then reboot - problem should be resolved.

The two culprits were cell standby and android os. My infuse doesn't have a SIM so I just put it on airplane mode with Wifi on. My phone was apparently awake because of Android OS for close to 15 hours. Talk about wakelocks.
my review of the rom

the delay in waking up the display when a call, occurs also in this ROM, as well as in most ROMs JB?
Anyone tried art yet?

Art is what will replace dalvik. Check your dev options.
I am going to try it to see how it does. I was just feeling a bit lazy earlier.

Where it says "select runtime". Tap it and switch from dalvik to art. It will reboot and optimize all apps for art. That can take 5-10 minutes.
Still, I have not tried on this rom yet, so it may/may not work.
EDIT: Don't use art with the op listed gapps. They cannot support it. I will try some other gapps packages today that are known to be compatible with art.
